Ἰωνᾶς' 1

1 Και έγεινε λόγος Κυρίου προς Ιωνάν τον υιόν του Αμαθί, λέγων,

and to be word LORD to(wards) Jonah son: child Amittai to/for to say

2 Σηκώθητι, ύπαγε εις Νινευή, την πόλιν την μεγάλην, και κήρυξον κατ' αυτής· διότι η ασέβεια αυτών ανέβη ενώπιόν μου.

to arise: rise to go: went to(wards) Nineveh [the] city [the] great: large and to call: call out upon her for to ascend: rise distress: evil their to/for face: before my

3 Και εσηκώθη ο Ιωνάς διά να φύγη εις Θαρσείς από προσώπου Κυρίου και κατέβη εις Ιόππην· και εύρηκε πλοίον πορευόμενον εις Θαρσείς, και έδωκε τον ναύλον αυτού και επέβη εις αυτό, διά να υπάγη μετ' αυτών εις Θαρσείς από προσώπου Κυρίου.

and to arise: rise Jonah to/for to flee Tarshish [to] from to/for face LORD and to go down Joppa and to find fleet to come (in): come Tarshish and to give: pay wages her and to go down in/on/with her to/for to come (in): come with them Tarshish [to] from to/for face LORD

4 Αλλ' ο Κύριος εξήγειρεν άνεμον μέγαν επί την θάλασσαν, και έγεινε κλύδων μέγας εν τη θαλάσση και το πλοίον εκινδύνευε να συντριφθή.

and LORD to cast spirit: breath great: large to(wards) [the] sea and to be tempest great: large in/on/with sea and [the] fleet to devise: devise to/for to break

5 Και εφοβήθησαν οι ναύται και ανεβόησαν έκαστος προς τον θεόν αυτού και έκαμον εκβολήν των εν τω πλοίω σκευών εις την θάλασσαν, διά να ελαφρωθή απ' αυτών· ο δε Ιωνάς κατέβη εις το κοίλωμα του πλοίου και επλαγίασε και εκοιμάτο βαθέως.

and to fear [the] mariner and to cry out man: anyone to(wards) God his and to cast [obj] [the] article/utensil which in/on/with fleet to(wards) [the] sea to/for to lighten from upon them and Jonah to go down to(wards) flank [the] ship and to lie down: lay down and to sleep

6 Και επλησίασε προς αυτόν ο πλοίαρχος και είπε προς αυτόν, Τι κοιμάσαι συ; σηκώθητι, επικαλού τον Θεόν σου, ίσως ο Θεός μας ενθυμηθή και δεν χαθώμεν.

and to present: come to(wards) him chief [the] pilot and to say to/for him what? to/for you to sleep to arise: rise to call: call to to(wards) God your perhaps to think [the] God to/for us and not to perish

7 Και είπον έκαστος προς τον πλησίον αυτού, Έλθετε και ας ρίψωμεν κλήρους, διά να γνωρίσωμεν τίνος ένεκεν το κακόν τούτο είναι εφ' ημάς. Και έρριψαν κλήρους και έπεσεν ο κλήρος επί τον Ιωνάν.

and to say man: anyone to(wards) neighbor his to go: come! and to fall: allot allotted and to know in/on/with which/that to/for who? [the] distress: evil [the] this to/for us and to fall: allot allotted and to fall: allot [the] allotted upon Jonah

8 Τότε είπον προς αυτόν, Ειπέ τώρα προς ημάς, τίνος ένεκεν το κακόν τούτο ήλθεν εφ' ημάς; Τι είναι το έργον σου; και πόθεν έρχεσαι; τις ο τόπος σου; και εκ τίνος λαού είσαι;

and to say to(wards) him to tell [emph?] please to/for us in/on/with in which to/for who? [the] distress: evil [the] this to/for us what? work your and from where? to come (in): come what? land: country/planet your and where? from this people you(m. s.)

9 Ο δε είπε προς αυτούς, Εγώ είμαι Εβραίος· και σέβομαι Κύριον τον Θεόν του ουρανού, όστις εποίησε την θαλάσσαν και την ξηράν.

and to say to(wards) them Hebrew I and [obj] LORD God [the] heaven I afraid which to make [obj] [the] sea and [obj] [the] dry land

10 Τότε εφοβήθησαν οι άνθρωποι φόβον μέγαν και είπον προς αυτόν, Τι είναι τούτο, το οποίον έκαμες; διότι εγνώρισαν οι άνθρωποι, ότι έφευγεν από προσώπου Κυρίου, επειδή είχεν αναγγείλει τούτο προς αυτούς.

and to fear [the] human fear great: large and to say to(wards) him what? this to make: do for to know [the] human for from to/for face LORD he/she/it to flee for to tell to/for them

11 Και είπον προς αυτόν, Τι να σε κάμωμεν, διά να ησυχάση η θάλασσα αφ' ημών; διότι η θάλασσα εκλυδωνίζετο επί το μάλλον.

and to say to(wards) him what? to make: do to/for you and be quiet [the] sea from upon us for [the] sea to go: continue and to rage

12 Και είπε προς αυτούς, Σηκώσατέ με και ρίψατέ με εις την θάλασσαν, και η θάλασσα θέλει ησυχάσει αφ' υμών· διότι εγώ γνωρίζω, ότι εξ αιτίας εμού έγεινεν ο μέγας ούτος κλύδων εφ' υμάς.

and to say to(wards) them to lift: raise me and to cast me to(wards) [the] sea and be quiet [the] sea from upon you for to know I for in/on/with which/that to/for me [the] tempest [the] great: large [the] this upon you

13 Οι άνθρωποι όμως εκωπηλάτουν δυνατά διά να επιστρέψωσι προς την ξηράν· αλλά δεν εδύναντο, διότι η θάλασσα εκλυδωνίζετο επί το μάλλον κατ' αυτών.

and to dig [the] human to/for to return: return to(wards) [the] dry land and not be able for [the] sea to go: continue and to rage upon them

14 Όθεν ανεβόησαν προς τον Κύριον και είπον, Δεόμεθα, Κύριε, δεόμεθα, ας μη χαθώμεν διά την ζωήν του ανθρώπου τούτου και μη επιβάλης εφ' ημάς αίμα αθώον· διότι συ, Κύριε, έκαμες ως ήθελες.

and to call: call to to(wards) LORD and to say Please! LORD not please to perish in/on/with soul: life [the] man [the] this and not to give: put upon us blood innocent for you(m. s.) LORD like/as as which to delight in to make: do

15 Και εσήκωσαν τον Ιωνάν και έρριψαν αυτόν εις την θάλασσαν και η θάλασσα εστάθη από του θυμού αυτής.

and to lift: raise [obj] Jonah and to cast him to(wards) [the] sea and to stand: stand [the] sea from rage his

16 Τότε οι άνθρωποι εφοβήθησαν τον Κύριον φόβον μέγαν και προσέφεραν θυσίαν εις τον Κύριον και έκαμον ευχάς.

and to fear: revere [the] human fear great: large [obj] LORD and to sacrifice sacrifice to/for LORD and to vow vow

17 Και διέταξε Κύριος μέγα κήτος να καταπίη τον Ιωνάν. Και ήτο ο Ιωνάς εν τη κοιλία του κήτους τρεις ημέρας και τρεις νύκτας.

and to count LORD fish great: large to/for to swallow up [obj] Jonah and to be Jonah in/on/with belly [the] fish three day and three night
