Κατα Ιωαννην 6
1 Μετά ταύτα ανεχώρησεν ο Ιησούς πέραν της θαλάσσης της Γαλιλαίας της Τιβεριάδος·
After these things Jesus went away across the lake of Galilee, that of Tiberias.
2 και ηκολούθει αυτόν όχλος πολύς, διότι έβλεπον τα θαύματα αυτού, τα οποία έκαμνεν επί των ασθενούντων.
And a great multitude followed him, because they saw the signs which he wrought on the diseased.
3 Ανέβη δε εις το όρος ο Ιησούς και εκεί εκάθητο μετά των μαθητών αυτού.
And Jesus went up into the mountain, and sat there with his disciples.
4 Επλησίαζε δε το πάσχα, η εορτή των Ιουδαίων.
And the passover, the feast of the Jews, was near.
5 Υψώσας λοιπόν ο Ιησούς τους οφθαλμούς και ιδών ότι πολύς όχλος έρχεται προς αυτόν, λέγει προς τον Φίλιππον· Πόθεν θέλομεν αγοράσει άρτους, διά να φάγωσιν ούτοι;
Jesus then lifting up his eyes, and seeing that a great crowd was coming to him, saith to Philip, Whence are we to buy bread, that these may eat?
6 Έλεγε δε τούτο δοκιμάζων αυτόν· διότι αυτός ήξευρε τι έμελλε να κάμη.
But this he said to try him; for he himself knew what he was going to do.
7 Απεκρίθη προς αυτόν ο Φίλιππος· Διακοσίων δηναρίων άρτοι δεν αρκούσιν εις αυτούς, διά να λάβη ολίγον τι έκαστος αυτών.
Philip answered him, Two hundred denaries' worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that each one may take a tittle.
8 Λέγει προς αυτόν εις εκ των μαθητών αυτού, Ανδρέας ο αδελφός Σίμωνος Πέτρου·
One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith to him,
9 Εδώ είναι εν παιδάριον, το οποίον έχει πέντε άρτους κριθίνους και δύο οψάρια· αλλά ταύτα τι είναι εις τοσούτους;
There is a lad here, who hath five barley-loaves, and two small fishes; but what are they among so many?
10 Είπε δε ο Ιησούς· Κάμετε τους ανθρώπους να καθήσωσιν· ήτο δε χόρτος πολύς εν τω τόπω. Εκάθησαν λοιπόν οι άνδρες τον αριθμόν έως πεντακισχίλιοι.
Jesus said, Make the men lie down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men lay down, in number about five thousand.
11 Και έλαβεν ο Ιησούς τους άρτους και ευχαριστήσας διεμοίρασεν εις τους μαθητάς, οι δε μαθηταί εις τους καθημένους· ομοίως και εκ των οψαρίων όσον ήθελον.
Jesus then took the loaves, and having given thanks, distributed to those that were lying down; in like manner also of the fishes, as much as they desired.
12 Αφού δε εχορτάσθησαν, λέγει προς τους μαθητάς αυτούς· Συνάξατε τα περισσεύσαντα κλάσματα, διά να μη χαθή τίποτε.
And when they were filled, he saith to his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain over, that nothing may be lost.
13 Εσύναξαν λοιπόν και εγέμισαν δώδεκα κοφίνους κλασμάτων εκ των πέντε άρτων των κριθίνων, τα οποία επερίσσευσαν εις τους φαγόντας.
So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley-loaves, which remained over and above to those that had eaten.
14 Οι άνθρωποι λοιπόν, ιδόντες το θαύμα, το οποίον έκαμεν ο Ιησούς, έλεγον ότι Ούτος είναι αληθώς ο προφήτης ο μέλλων να έλθη εις τον κόσμον.
The men therefore seeing the sign which he wrought, said, This is truly the prophet that was to come into the world.
15 Ο Ιησούς λοιπόν γνωρίσας ότι μέλλουσι να έλθωσι και να αρπάσωσιν αυτόν, διά να κάμωσιν αυτόν βασιλέα, ανεχώρησε πάλιν εις το όρος αυτός μόνος.
Jesus therefore, knowing that they were about to come and take him by force to make him a king, withdrew again to the mountain alone.
16 Καθώς δε έγεινεν εσπέρα, κατέβησαν οι μαθηταί αυτού εις την θάλασσαν,
But when evening came, his disciples went down to the lake,
17 και εμβάντες εις το πλοίον, ήρχοντο πέραν της θαλάσσης εις Καπερναούμ. Και είχεν ήδη γείνει σκότος και ο Ιησούς δεν είχεν ελθεί προς αυτούς,
and having gone on board a boat, were going over the lake to Capernaum. And darkness had overtaken them, and Jesus had not yet come to them.
18 και η θάλασσα υψόνετο, επειδή έπνεε δυνατός άνεμος.
And as a strong wind was blowing, the waves ran high.
19 Αφού λοιπόν εκωπηλάτησαν ως εικοσιπέντε ή τριάκοντα στάδια βλέπουσι τον Ιησούν περιπατούντα επί της θαλάσσης και πλησιάζοντα εις το πλοίον, και εφοβήθησαν.
When therefore they had rowed about twenty-five or thirty furlongs, they saw Jesus walking on the lake, and drawing near the boat; and they were afraid.
20 Εκείνος δε λέγει προς αυτούς· Εγώ είμαι· μη φοβείσθε.
But he saith to them, It is I, be not afraid.
21 Ήθελον λοιπόν να λάβωσιν αυτόν εις το πλοίον, και παρευθύς το πλοίον έφθασεν εις την γην, εις την οποίαν υπήγαινον.
Then they were willing to receive him into the boat; and immediately the boat was at the land whither they were going.
22 Τη επαύριον ο όχλος ο ιστάμενος πέραν της θαλάσσης ότε είδεν ότι πλοιάριον άλλο δεν ήτο εκεί ειμή εν, εκείνο εις το οποίον εισήλθον οι μαθηταί αυτού, και ότι ο Ιησούς δεν εισήλθε μετά των μαθητών αυτού εις το πλοιάριον, αλλά μόνοι οι μαθηταί αυτού ανεχώρησαν·
The day following, the multitude which stood on the other side of the lake having seen that there was no other boat there but one, and that Jesus did not go with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples went away alone,
23 ήλθον δε άλλα πλοιάρια εκ της Τιβεριάδος πλησίον του τόπου, όπου έφαγον τον άρτον, αφού ο Κύριος ευχαρίστησεν·
(but there came other boats from Tiberias near the place where they ate the bread, when the Lord had given thanks; )
24 ότε λοιπόν είδεν ο όχλος ότι ο Ιησούς δεν είναι εκεί, ουδέ οι μαθηταί αυτού, εισήλθον και αυτοί εις τα πλοία και ήλθον εις Καπερναούμ ζητούντες τον Ιησούν.
when therefore the multitude saw that Jesus was not there nor his disciples, they went on board the boats, and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.
25 Και ευρόντες αυτόν πέραν της θαλάσσης, είπον προς αυτόν· Ραββί, πότε ήλθες εδώ;
And having found him on the other side of the lake, they said to him, Rabbi, when didst thou come hither?
26 Απεκρίθη προς αυτούς ο Ιησούς και είπεν· Αληθώς, αληθώς σας λέγω, με ζητείτε, ουχί διότι είδετε θαύματα, αλλά διότι εφάγετε εκ των άρτων και εχορτάσθητε.
Jesus answered them and said, Truly, truly do I say to you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw signs, but because ye ate of the loaves, and were filled.
27 Εργάζεσθε μη διά την τροφήν την φθειρομένην, αλλά διά την τροφήν την μένουσαν εις ζωήν αιώνιον, την οποίαν ο Υιός του ανθρώπου θέλει σας δώσει· διότι τούτον εσφράγισεν ο Πατήρ ο Θεός. (aiōnios g166)
Labor not for the food that perisheth, but for the food that endureth to everlasting life, which the Son of man giveth to you; for on him hath the Father set his seal, even God. (aiōnios g166)
28 Είπον λοιπόν προς αυτόν· Τι να κάμωμεν, διά να εργαζώμεθα τα έργα του Θεού;
Then they said to him, What are we to do, that we may work the works of God?
29 Απεκρίθη ο Ιησούς και είπε προς αυτούς· Τούτο είναι το έργον του Θεού, να πιστεύσητε εις τούτον, τον οποίον εκείνος απέστειλε.
Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that ye believe in him whom he sent.
30 Τότε είπον προς αυτόν· Τι σημείον λοιπόν κάμνεις συ, διά να ίδωμεν και πιστεύσωμεν εις σε; τι εργάζεσαι;
They said therefore to him, What sign doest thou, that we may see, and believe thee? What dost thou work?
31 οι πατέρες ημών έφαγον το μάννα εν τη ερήμω, καθώς είναι γεγραμμένον· Άρτον εκ του ουρανού έδωκεν εις αυτούς να φάγωσιν.
Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, as it is written, “He gave them bread from heaven to eat.”
32 Είπε λοιπόν προς αυτούς ο Ιησούς· Αληθώς, αληθώς σας λέγω, δεν έδωκεν εις εσάς τον άρτον εκ του ουρανού ο Μωϋσής, αλλ' ο Πατήρ μου σας δίδει τον άρτον εκ του ουρανού τον αληθινόν.
Jesus therefore said to them, Truly, truly do I say to you, Moses hath not given you the bread from heaven; but my Father is giving you the true bread from heaven.
33 Διότι ο άρτος του Θεού είναι ο καταβαίνων εκ του ουρανού και δίδων ζωήν εις τον κόσμον.
For the bread of God is that which is coming down from heaven, and giving life to the world.
34 Είπον λοιπόν προς αυτόν· Κύριε, πάντοτε δος εις ημάς τον άρτον τούτον.
They said therefore to him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
35 Και είπε προς αυτούς ο Ιησούς· Εγώ είμαι ο άρτος της ζωής· όστις έρχεται προς εμέ, δεν θέλει πεινάσει, και όστις πιστεύει εις εμέ, δεν θέλει διψήσει πώποτε.
Jesus therefore said to them, I am the bread of life; he that cometh to me will not hunger; and he that believeth in me will never thirst.
36 Πλην σας είπον ότι και με είδετε και δεν πιστεύετε.
But I said to you, that ye have even seen, and do not believe.
37 Παν ό, τι μοι δίδει ο Πατήρ, προς εμέ θέλει ελθεί, και τον ερχόμενον προς εμέ δεν θέλω εκβάλει έξω·
All that the Father giveth me will come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out;
38 διότι κατέβην εκ του ουρανού, ουχί διά να κάμω το θέλημα το εμόν, αλλά το θέλημα του πέμψαντός με.
for I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me.
39 Τούτο δε είναι το θέλημα του πέμψαντός με Πατρός, παν ό, τι μοι έδωκε να μη απολέσω ουδέν εξ αυτού, αλλά να αναστήσω αυτό εν τη εσχάτη ημέρα.
And this is the will of him that sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up in the last day.
40 Και τούτο είναι το θέλημα του πέμψαντός με, πας όστις βλέπει τον Υιόν και πιστεύει εις αυτόν να έχη ζωήν αιώνιον, και εγώ θέλω αναστήσει αυτόν εν τη εσχάτη ημέρα. (aiōnios g166)
For this is the will of my Father, that every one who looketh on the Son and believeth in him, shall have everlasting life; and I will raise him up in the last day. (aiōnios g166)
41 Εγόγγυζον λοιπόν οι Ιουδαίοι περί αυτού ότι είπεν, Εγώ είμαι ο άρτος ο καταβάς εκ του ουρανού,
The Jews therefore murmured about him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven;
42 και έλεγον· δεν είναι ούτος Ιησούς ο υιός του Ιωσήφ, του οποίου ημείς γνωρίζομεν τον πατέρα και την μητέρα; πως λοιπόν λέγει ούτος ότι εκ του ουρανού κατέβην;
and they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, one whose father and mother we know? How is it then that this man saith, I have come down from heaven?
43 Απεκρίθη λοιπόν ο Ιησούς και είπε προς αυτούς· Μη γογγύζετε μεταξύ σας.
Jesus therefore answered and said to them, Murmur not among yourselves.
44 Ουδείς δύναται να έλθη προς εμέ, εάν δεν ελκύση αυτόν ο Πατήρ ο πέμψας με, και εγώ θέλω αναστήσει αυτόν εν τη εσχάτη ημέρα.
No one can come to me, unless the Father, who sent me, draw him: and I will raise him up in the last day.
45 Είναι γεγραμμένον εν τοις προφήταις· Και πάντες θέλουσιν είσθαι διδακτοί του Θεού. Πας λοιπόν, όστις ακούση παρά του Πατρός και μάθη, έρχεται προς εμέ·
It is written in the prophets, “And they shall all be taught of God.” Every one that hath heard the Father, and hath learnt from him, cometh to me.
46 ουχί ότι είδε τις τον Πατέρα, ειμή εκείνος όστις είναι παρά του Θεού, ούτος είδε τον Πατέρα.
Not that any one hath seen the Father, but he who is from God; he hath seen the Father.
Truly, truly do I say to you, He that believeth hath everlasting life. (aiōnios g166)
48 Εγώ είμαι ο άρτος της ζωής.
I am the bread of life.
49 Οι πατέρες σας έφαγον το μάννα εν τη ερήμω και απέθανον·
Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and died.
50 ούτος είναι ο άρτος ο καταβαίνων εκ του ουρανού, διά να φάγη τις εξ αυτού και να μη αποθάνη.
This is the bread which is coming down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die.
51 Εγώ είμαι ο άρτος ο ζων, ο καταβάς εκ του ουρανού. Εάν τις φάγη εκ τούτου του άρτου, θέλει ζήσει εις τον αιώνα. Και ο άρτος δε τον οποίον εγώ θέλω δώσει, είναι η σαρξ μου την οποίαν εγώ θέλω δώσει υπέρ της ζωής του κόσμου. (aiōn g165)
I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if any one eat of my bread, he will live for ever. Yea, and the bread which I will give for the life of the world is my flesh. (aiōn g165)
52 Εμάχοντο λοιπόν προς αλλήλους Ιουδαίοι, λέγοντες· Πως δύναται ούτος να δώση εις ημάς να φάγωμεν την σάρκα αυτού;
The Jews therefore contended with one another, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
53 Είπε λοιπόν εις αυτούς ο Ιησούς· Αληθώς, αληθώς σας λέγω, Εάν δεν φάγητε την σάρκα του υιού του ανθρώπου και πίητε το αίμα αυτού, δεν έχετε ζωήν εν εαυτοίς.
Jesus therefore said to them, Truly, truly do I say to you, Unless ye eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
54 Όστις τρώγει την σάρκα μου και πίνει το αίμα μου, έχει ζωήν αιώνιον, και εγώ θέλω αναστήσει αυτόν εν τη εσχάτη ημέρα. (aiōnios g166)
He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood hath everlasting life; and I will raise him up in the last day. (aiōnios g166)
55 Διότι η σαρξ μου αληθώς είναι τροφή, και το αίμα μου αληθώς είναι πόσις.
For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.
56 Όστις τρώγει την σάρκα μου και πίνει το αίμα μου εν εμοί μένει, και εγώ εν αυτώ.
He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood dwelleth in me, and I in him.
57 Καθώς με απέστειλεν ο ζων Πατήρ και εγώ ζω διά τον Πατέρα, ούτω και όστις με τρώγει θέλει ζήσει και εκείνος δι' εμέ.
As the living Father sent me, and I live by reason of the Father; so he that eateth me, he also shall live by reason of me.
58 Ούτος είναι ο άρτος ο καταβάς εκ του ουρανού, ουχί καθώς οι πατέρες σας έφαγον το μάννα και απέθανον· όστις τρώγει τούτον τον άρτον θέλει ζήσει εις τον αιώνα. (aiōn g165)
This is the bread which came down from heaven; not as the fathers ate, and died; he that eateth this bread will live for ever. (aiōn g165)
59 Ταύτα είπεν εν τη συναγωγή, διδάσκων εν Καπερναούμ.
These things he said in a synagogue, while teaching in Capernaum.
60 Πολλοί λοιπόν εκ των μαθητών αυτού ακούσαντες, είπον· Σκληρός είναι ούτος ο λόγος· τις δύναται να ακούη αυτόν;
Many therefore of his disciples, when they heard this, said, This teaching is hard; who can listen to it?
61 Νοήσας δε ο Ιησούς εν εαυτώ ότι γογγύζουσι περί τούτου οι μαθηταί αυτού, είπε προς αυτούς· Τούτο σας σκανδαλίζει;
Jesus therefore knew within himself that his disciples were murmuring about this, and said to them, Doth this offend you?
62 εάν λοιπόν θεωρήτε τον Υιόν του ανθρώπου αναβαίνοντα όπου ήτο το πρότερον;
What then if ye behold the Son of man ascending where he was before?
63 το πνεύμα είναι εκείνο το οποίον ζωοποιεί, η σαρξ δεν ωφελεί ουδέν· οι λόγοι, τους οποίους εγώ λαλώ προς εσάς, πνεύμα είναι και ζωή είναι.
It is the spirit which maketh alive; the flesh profiteth nothing. The words which I have spoken to you are spirit, and are life.
64 Πλην είναι τινές από σας, οίτινες δεν πιστεύουσι. Διότι ήξευρεν εξ αρχής ο Ιησούς, τίνες είναι οι μη πιστεύοντες και τις είναι ο μέλλων να παραδώση αυτόν.
But there are some of you who do not believe. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that did not believe, and who it was that would betray him.
65 Και έλεγε· Διά τούτο σας είπον ότι ουδείς δύναται να έλθη προς εμέ, εάν δεν είναι δεδομένον εις αυτόν εκ του Πατρός μου.
And he said, For this cause I have told you, that no one can come to me, unless it hath been given him from the Father.
66 Έκτοτε πολλοί των μαθητών αυτού εστράφησαν εις τα οπίσω και δεν περιεπάτουν πλέον μετ' αυτού.
From this time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
67 Είπε λοιπόν ο Ιησούς προς τους δώδεκα· Μήπως και σεις θέλετε να υπάγητε;
Jesus therefore said to the twelve, Do ye also wish to go away?
68 Απεκρίθη λοιπόν προς αυτόν ο Σίμων Πέτρος· Κύριε, προς τίνα θέλομεν υπάγει; λόγους ζωής αιωνίου έχεις· (aiōnios g166)
Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast words of everlasting life; (aiōnios g166)
69 και ημείς επιστεύσαμεν και εγνωρίσαμεν ότι συ είσαι ο Χριστός ο Υιός του Θεού του ζώντος.
and we have believed and known, that thou art the Holy One of God.
70 Απεκρίθη προς αυτούς ο Ιησούς· Δεν εξέλεξα εγώ εσάς τους δώδεκα και εις από σας είναι διάβολος;
Jesus answered them, Did not I choose you twelve? and one of you is a devil!
71 Έλεγε δε τον Ιούδαν του Σίμωνος τον Ισκαριώτην· διότι ούτος, εις ων εκ των δώδεκα, έμελλε να παραδώση αυτόν.
He spoke of Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot; for it was he that was about to betray him, being one of the twelve.
