Κατα Ιωαννην 13
1 Προ δε της εορτής του πάσχα εξεύρων ο Ιησούς ότι ήλθεν η ώρα αυτού διά να μεταβή εκ του κόσμου τούτου προς τον Πατέρα, αγαπήσας τους ιδικούς του τους εν τω κόσμω, μέχρι τέλους ηγάπησεν αυτούς.
Before the feast day of the Passover, Jesus knew that the hour was approaching when he would pass from this world to the Father. And since he had always loved his own who were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
2 Και αφού έγεινε δείπνος, ο δε διάβολος είχεν ήδη βάλει εις την καρδίαν του Ιούδα Σίμωνος του Ισκαριώτου να παραδώση αυτόν,
And when the meal had taken place, when the devil had now put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray him,
3 εξεύρων ο Ιησούς ότι πάντα έδωκεν εις αυτόν ο Πατήρ εις τας χείρας, και ότι από του Θεού εξήλθε και προς τον Θεόν υπάγει,
knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands and that he came from God and was going to God,
4 εγείρεται εκ του δείπνου και εκδύεται τα ιμάτια αυτού, και λαβών προσόψιον διεζώσθη·
he rose up from the meal, and he set aside his vestments, and when he had received a towel, he wrapped it around himself.
5 έπειτα βάλλει ύδωρ εις τον νιπτήρα, και ήρχισε να νίπτη τους πόδας των μαθητών και να σπογγίζη με το προσόψιον, με το οποίον ήτο διεζωσμένος.
Next he put water into a shallow bowl, and he began to wash the feet of the disciples and to wipe them with the towel with which he was wrapped.
6 Έρχεται λοιπόν προς τον Σίμωνα Πέτρον, και λέγει προς αυτόν εκείνος· Κύριε, συ μου νίπτεις τους πόδας;
And then he came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to him, “Lord, would you wash my feet?”
7 Απεκρίθη ο Ιησούς και είπε προς αυτόν· Εκείνο, το οποίον εγώ κάμνω, συ δεν εξεύρεις τώρα, θέλεις όμως γνωρίσει μετά ταύτα.
Jesus responded and said to him: “What I am doing, you do not now understand. But you shall understand it afterward.”
8 Λέγει προς αυτόν ο Πέτρος· Δεν θέλεις νίψει τους πόδας μου εις τον αιώνα. Απεκρίθη προς αυτόν ο Ιησούς· Εάν δεν σε νίψω, δεν έχεις μέρος μετ' εμού. (aiōn g165)
Peter said to him, “You shall never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you will have no place with me.” (aiōn g165)
9 Λέγει προς αυτόν ο Σίμων Πέτρος· Κύριε, μη τους πόδας μου μόνον, αλλά και τας χείρας και την κεφαλήν.
Simon Peter said to him, “Then Lord, not only my feet, but also my hands and my head!”
10 Λέγει προς αυτόν ο Ιησούς· Ο λελουμένος δεν έχει χρείαν ειμή τους πόδας να νιφθή, αλλ' είναι όλος καθαρός· και σεις είσθε καθαροί, αλλ' ουχί πάντες.
Jesus said to him: “He who is washed need only wash his feet, and then he will be entirely clean. And you are clean, but not all.”
11 Διότι ήξευρεν εκείνον, όστις έμελλε να παραδώση αυτόν· διά τούτο είπε· Δεν είσθε πάντες καθαροί.
For he knew which one would betray him. For this reason, he said, “You are not all clean.”
12 Αφού λοιπόν ένιψε τους πόδας αυτών και έλαβε τα ιμάτια αυτού, καθήσας πάλιν είπε προς αυτούς· Εξεύρετε τι έκαμον εις εσάς;
And so, after he washed their feet and received his vestments, when he had sat down at table again, he said to them: “Do you know what I have done for you?
13 Σεις με φωνάζετε, Ο Διδάσκαλος και ο Κύριος, και καλώς λέγετε, διότι είμαι.
You call me Teacher and Lord, and you speak well: for so I am.
14 Εάν λοιπόν εγώ, ο Κύριος και ο Διδάσκαλος, σας ένιψα τους πόδας, και σεις χρεωστείτε να νίπτητε τους πόδας αλλήλων.
Therefore, if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash the feet of one another.
15 Διότι παράδειγμα έδωκα εις εσάς, διά να κάμνητε και σεις, καθώς εγώ έκαμον εις εσάς.
For I have given you an example, so that just as I have done for you, so also should you do.
16 Αληθώς, αληθώς σας λέγω, δεν είναι δούλος ανώτερος του κυρίου αυτού, ουδέ απόστολος ανώτερος του πέμψαντος αυτόν.
Amen, amen, I say to you, the servant is not greater than his Lord, and the apostle is not greater than he who sent him.
17 Εάν εξεύρητε ταύτα, μακάριοι είσθε εάν κάμνητε αυτά.
If you understand this, you shall be blessed if you will do it.
18 Δεν λέγω τούτο περί πάντων υμών· εγώ εξεύρω ποίους εξέλεξα· αλλά διά να πληρωθή η γραφή, Ο τρώγων μετ' εμού τον άρτον εσήκωσεν επ' εμέ την πτέρναν αυτού.
I am not speaking about all of you. I know those whom I have chosen. But this is so that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats bread with me shall lift up his heel against me.’
19 Από του νυν σας λέγω τούτο πριν γείνη, διά να πιστεύσητε όταν γείνη, ότι εγώ είμαι.
And I tell you this now, before it happens, so that when it has happened, you may believe that I am.
20 Αληθώς, αληθώς σας λέγω, όστις δέχεται όντινα πέμψω, εμέ δέχεται, και όστις δέχεται, εμέ δέχεται τον πέμψαντά με.
Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever receives anyone whom I send, receives me. And whoever receives me, receives him who sent me.”
21 Αφού είπε ταύτα ο Ιησούς, εταράχθη την ψυχήν και εμαρτύρησε και είπεν· Αληθώς, αληθώς σας λέγω ότι εις εξ υμών θέλει με παραδώσει.
When Jesus had said these things, he was troubled in spirit. And he bore witness by saying: “Amen, amen, I say to you, that one among you shall betray me.”
22 Έβλεπον λοιπόν εις αλλήλους οι μαθηταί, απορούντες περί τίνος λέγει.
Therefore, the disciples looked around at one another, uncertain about whom he spoke.
23 Εκάθητο δε κεκλιμένος εις τον κόλπον του Ιησού εις των μαθητών αυτού, τον οποίον ηγάπα ο Ιησούς.
And leaning against the bosom of Jesus was one of his disciples, the one whom Jesus loved.
24 Νεύει λοιπόν προς τούτον ο Σίμων Πέτρος διά να ερωτήση τις είναι εκείνος, περί του οποίου λέγει.
Therefore, Simon Peter motioned to this one and said to him, “Who is it that he is speaking about?”
25 Και πεσών εκείνος επί το στήθος του Ιησού, λέγει προς αυτόν· Κύριε, τις είναι;
And so, leaning against the chest of Jesus, he said to him, “Lord, who is it?”
26 Αποκρίνεται ο Ιησούς· Εκείνος είναι, εις τον οποίον εγώ βάψας το ψωμίον θέλω δώσει. Και εμβάψας το ψωμίον δίδει εις τον Ιούδαν Σίμωνος τον Ισκαριώτην.
Jesus responded, “It is he to whom I shall extend the dipped bread.” And when he had dipped the bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, son of Simon.
27 Και μετά το ψωμίον τότε εισήλθεν εις εκείνον ο Σατανάς. Λέγει λοιπόν προς αυτόν ο Ιησούς· ό, τι κάμνεις, κάμε ταχύτερον.
And after the morsel, Satan entered into him. And Jesus said to him, “What you are going to do, do quickly.”
28 Τούτο όμως ουδείς των καθημένων ενόησε προς τι είπε προς αυτόν.
Now none of those sitting at table knew why he had said this to him.
29 Διότι τινές ενόμιζον, επειδή ο Ιούδας είχε το γλωσσόκομον, ότι λέγει προς αυτόν ο Ιησούς, Αγόρασον όσων έχομεν χρείαν διά την εορτήν, ή να δώση τι εις τους πτωχούς.
For some were thinking that, because Judas held the purse, that Jesus had told him, “Buy those things which are needed by us for the feast day,” or that he might give something to the needy.
30 Λαβών λοιπόν εκείνος το ψωμίον, εξήλθεν ευθύς· ήτο δε νυξ.
Therefore, having accepted the morsel, he went out immediately. And it was night.
31 Ότε λοιπόν εξήλθε, λέγει ο Ιησούς· Τώρα εδοξάσθη ο Υιός του άνθρώπου, και ο Θεός εδοξάσθη εν αυτώ.
Then, when he had gone out, Jesus said: “Now the Son of man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in him.
32 Εάν ο Θεός εδοξάσθη εν αυτώ, και ο Θεός θέλει δοξάσει αυτόν εν εαυτώ και ευθύς θέλει δοξάσει αυτόν.
If God has been glorified in him, then God will also glorify him in himself, and he will glorify him without delay.
33 Τεκνία, έτι ολίγον είμαι μεθ' υμών. Θέλετε με ζητήσει, και καθώς είπον προς τους Ιουδαίους ότι όπου υπάγω εγώ, σεις δεν δύνασθε να έλθητε, και προς εσάς λέγω τώρα.
Little sons, for a brief while, I am with you. You shall seek me, and just as I said to the Jews, ‘Where I am going, you are not able to go,’ so also I say to you now.
34 Εντολήν καινήν σας δίδω, Να αγαπάτε αλλήλους, καθώς εγώ σας ηγάπησα και σεις να αγαπάτε αλλήλους.
I give you a new commandment: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, so also must you love one another.
35 Εκ τούτου θέλουσι γνωρίσει πάντες ότι είσθε μαθηταί μου, εάν έχητε αγάπην προς αλλήλους.
By this, all shall recognize that you are my disciples: if you will have love for one another.”
36 Λέγει προς αυτόν ο Σίμων Πέτρος· Κύριε, που υπάγεις; Απεκρίθη εις αυτόν ο Ιησούς· Όπου υπάγω, δεν δύνασαι τώρα να με ακολουθήσης, ύστερον όμως θέλεις με ακολουθήσει.
Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus responded: “Where I am going, you are not able to follow me now. But you shall follow afterward.”
37 Λέγει προς αυτόν ο Πέτρος· Κύριε, διατί δεν δύναμαι να σε ακολουθήσω τώρα; την ψυχήν μου θέλω βάλει υπέρ σου.
Peter said to him: “Why am I unable to follow you now? I will lay down my life for you!”
38 Απεκρίθη προς αυτόν ο Ιησούς· Την ψυχήν σου θέλεις βάλει υπέρ εμού; αληθώς, αληθώς σοι λέγω, δεν θέλει φωνάξει ο αλέκτωρ, εωσού με απαρνηθής τρίς.
Jesus answered him: “You will lay down your life for me? Amen, amen, I say to you, the rooster will not crow, until you deny me three times.”
