Ἰωήλʹ 2
1 Σαλπίσατε σάλπιγγα εν Σιών, και αλαλάξατε εν τω όρει τω αγίω μου· ας τρομάξωσι πάντες οι κατοικούντες την γήν· διότι έρχεται η ημέρα του Κυρίου, διότι είναι εγγύς·
Blow ye a horn in Zion, sound an alarm in my holy mountain, let all the inhabitants of the land, tremble, —for coming is the day of Yahweh, for it is near!—
2 ημέρα σκότους και γνόφου, ημέρα νεφέλης και ομίχλης· ως αυγή εξαπλούται επί τα όρη λαός πολύς και ισχυρός· όμοιος αυτού δεν εστάθη απ' αιώνος ουδέ μετ' αυτόν θέλει σταθή πλέον ποτέ εις γενεάς γενεών.
A day of obscurity and deep gloom, a day of cloud, and thick darkness, as dusk, spread over the mountains, —a people, many and bold, like whom, hath not been from age-past times, and, after whom, shall not be again unto the years of generation after generation.
3 Πυρ κατατρώγει έμπροσθεν αυτού και φλόξ κατακαίει όπισθεν αυτού· η γη είναι ως ο παράδεισος της Εδέμ έμπροσθεν αυτού, και όπισθεν αυτού πεδιάς ηφανισμένη· και βεβαίως δεν θέλει εκφύγει απ' αυτού ουδέν.
Before him, hath a fire, devoured, and, after him, shall a flame, consume, —As the garden of Eden, is the land before him, but, after him, a desert most desolate, Moreover also, escape, giveth he none.
4 Η θέα αυτών είναι ως θέα ίππων, και ως ιππείς, ούτω θέλουσι τρέχει.
As the appearance of horses, is his appearance, and, as war-horses, so, shall they run:
5 Ως κρότος αμαξών θέλουσι πηδά επί τας κορυφάς των ορέων, ως ήχος φλογός πυρός, ήτις κατατρώγει την καλάμην, ως ισχυρός λαός παρατεταγμένος εις μάχην.
Like the noise of chariots on the tops of the mountains, shall they rattle along, like the noise of a flame of fire, devouring dry straw, —like a people bold, arrayed for battle.
6 Ενώπιον αυτού οι λαοί θέλουσι κατατρομάξει· πάντα τα πρόσωπα θέλουσιν αποσβολωθή.
Because of him, shall peoples’, be in anguish, —all faces, have withdrawn their colour.
7 Θέλουσι τρέξει ως μαχηταί, ως άνδρες πολεμισταί θέλουσιν αναβή το τείχος, και θέλουσιν υπάγει έκαστος εις την οδόν αυτού και δεν θέλουσι χαλάσει τας τάξεις αυτών.
Like heroes, shall they run, like men of war, shall they mount a wall, —and, every one—along his own road, shall they march along, and shall not change their paths;
8 Και δεν θέλουσι σπρώξει ο εις τον άλλον· θέλουσι περιπατεί έκαστος εις την οδόν αυτού, και πίπτοντες επί τα βέλη δεν θέλουσι πληγωθή.
Nor, against each other, shall they strike, Each—on his own highway, shall they march, —though, in among the weapons, they fall, they shall not stop.
9 Θέλουσι περιτρέχει εν τη πόλει, θέλουσι δράμει επί το τείχος, θέλουσιν αναβαίνει επί τας οικίας, θέλουσιν εμβαίνει διά των θυρίδων ως κλέπτης.
Upon the city, shall they leap, on the wall, shall they run, up the houses, shall they climb, —through the windows, shall they enter, like a thief,
10 Η γη θέλει σεισθή έμπροσθεν αυτών, οι ουρανοί θέλουσι τρέμει, ο ήλιος και η σελήνη θέλουσι συσκοτάσει, και τα άστρα θέλουσι σύρει οπίσω το φέγγος αυτών.
Before him, hath quaked the earth, have trembled the heavens, —the sun and the moon, have become dark, and, the stars, have withdrawn their shining;
11 Και ο Κύριος θέλει εκπέμψει την φωνήν αυτού έμπροσθεν του στρατεύματος αυτού· διότι το στρατόπεδον αυτού είναι μέγα σφόδρα, διότι ο εκτελών τον λόγον αυτού είναι ισχυρός, διότι η ημέρα του Κυρίου είναι μεγάλη και τρομερά σφόδρα και τις δύναται να υποφέρη αυτήν;
And, Yahweh, hath uttered his voice, before his host, for great indeed is his camp, for bold is he who executeth his word, —for great is the day of Yahweh, and awful exceedingly, Who then shall endure it?
12 Και τώρα διά τούτο, λέγει Κύριος, επιστρέψατε προς εμέ εξ όλης της καρδίας υμών και εν νηστεία και εν κλαυθμώ και εν πένθει.
Even now, therefore, urgeth Yahweh, Turn ye unto me, with all your heart, —and with fasting and with weeping, and with lamentation;
13 Και διαρρήξατε την καρδίαν σας και μη τα ιμάτιά σας και επιστρέψατε προς Κύριον τον Θεόν σας· διότι είναι ελεήμων και οικτίρμων, μακρόθυμος και πολυέλεος και μεταμελούμενος διά το κακόν.
And rend your heart, and not your garments, turn therefore, unto Yahweh your God, —for, gracious and full of compassion, is he, slow to anger, and abundant in loving- kindness, and will grieve over calamity.
14 Τις οίδεν, αν θέλη επιστρέψει και μεταμεληθή και αφήσει ευλογίαν κατόπιν αυτού, προσφοράν και σπονδήν εις Κύριον τον Θεόν υμών;
Who knoweth, he may turn and grieve, —and leave behind him, a blessing, a meal-offering and a drink-offering, to Yahweh your God?
15 Σαλπίσατε σάλπιγγα εν Σιών, αγιάσατε νηστείαν, κηρύξατε σύναξιν επίσημον.
Blow ye a horn, in Zion, —hallow a fast, call a solemn assembly:
16 Συναθροίσατε τον λαόν, αγιάσατε την σύναξιν, συνάξατε τους πρεσβυτέρους, συναθροίσατε τα νήπια και τα θηλάζοντα μαστούς· ας εξέλθη ο νυμφίος εκ του κοιτώνος αυτού και η νύμφη εκ του θαλάμου αυτής.
Gather the people, hallow a convocation, collect the elders, gather the children, and the sucklings of the breasts, —let the bridegroom, come forth, from his chamber, and the bride from her bower:
17 Ας κλαύσωσιν οι ιερείς, οι λειτουργοί του Κυρίου, μεταξύ της στοάς και του θυσιαστηρίου, και ας είπωσι, Φείσαι, Κύριε, του λαού σου και μη δώσης την κληρονομίαν σου εις όνειδος, ώστε να κυριεύσωσιν αυτούς τα έθνη· διά τι να είπωσι μεταξύ των λαών, Που είναι ο Θεός αυτών;
Between the porch and the altar, let the priests, weep, the attendants of Yahweh, —and let them say—Look with pity, O Yahweh, upon thy people, and do not deliver thine inheritance to reproach, that the nations, should mock them, Why should they say among the peoples, Where is their God?
18 Και ο Κύριος θέλει ζηλοτυπήσει διά την γην αυτού και θέλει φεισθή του λαού αυτού.
And Yahweh became jealous for his land, —and took pity on his people;
19 Ναι, ο Κύριος θέλει αποκριθή και ειπεί προς τον λαόν αυτού, Ιδού, εγώ θέλω εξαποστείλει προς υμάς τον σίτον και τον οίνον και το έλαιον και θέλετε εμπλησθή απ' αυτών, και δεν θέλω σας κάμει πλέον όνειδος μεταξύ των εθνών.
Then answered Yahweh, and said to his people: —Behold me! sending you the corn, and the new wine and the oil, so shall ye be satisfied therewith; and I will not make you, any more, a reproach among the nations.
20 Αλλά θέλω απομακρύνει από σας τον εκ του βορρά πολέμιον, και θέλω εξώσει αυτόν εις γην άνυδρον και έρημον, με το πρόσωπον αυτού προς την ανατολικήν θάλασσαν, το δε όπισθεν αυτού μέρος προς την θάλασσαν την δυτικήν, και η δυσωδία αυτού θέλει αναβή και η κακή οσμή αυτού θέλει υψωθή, διότι έπραξε μεγάλα.
And, the Northerner, will I remove far from you, and drive him into a land parched and desolate, with, his face, toward the eastern sea, and, his rear, toward the hinder sea, —then shall come up his ill odour, yea his stench, shall ascend, because he hath shown himself great in doing.
21 Μη φοβού, γή· χαίρε και ευφραίνου· διότι ο Κύριος θέλει κάμει μεγαλεία.
Be not thou afraid, O soil, —exult and rejoice, because Yahweh, hath shown himself great, in doing.
22 Μη τρομάζετε, κτήνη της πεδιάδος· διότι αι βοσκαί της ερήμου βλαστάνουσι, διότι το δένδρον φέρει τον καρπόν αυτού, η συκή και η άμπελος εκδίδουσι την δύναμιν αυτών.
Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field, for sprouted have the pastures of the wilderness, —for, the tree, hath borne its fruit, the fig-tree and the vine, have yielded their wealth.
23 Και, τα τέκνα της Σιών, χαίρετε και ευφραίνεσθε εις Κύριον τον Θεόν σας· διότι έδωκεν εις εσάς την πρώϊμον βροχήν εγκαίρως και θέλει βρέξει εις εσάς βροχήν πρώϊμον και όψιμον ως πρότερον.
Ye sons of Zion, then, exult and be glad in Yahweh your God, for he hath given you the seed-rain, in right manner, —Yea he hath caused to descend for you a down-pour, of seed-rain and of the harvest-rain in the first month;
24 Και τα αλώνια θέλουσι γεμισθή από σίτου και οι ληνοί θέλουσιν υπερεκχειλίσει από οίνου και ελαίου.
So shall the threshing-floors, be filled, with corn, —and the vats, overflow, with new wine and oil.
25 Και θέλω αναπληρώσει εις εσάς τα έτη, τα οποία κατέφαγεν η ακρίς, ο βρούχος και η ερυσίβη και η κάμπη, το στράτευμά μου το μέγα, το οποίον εξαπέστειλα εναντίον σας.
Then will I make good to you the years which were eaten by the swarming locust, the grass locust, and the corn locust and the creeping locust, —even my great army, which I sent among you.
26 Και θέλετε φάγει αφθόνως και χορτασθή και αινέσει το όνομα Κυρίου του Θεού σας· όστις έκαμε θαυμάσια με σάς· και ο λαός μου δεν θέλει καταισχυνθή εις τον αιώνα.
And ye shall eat and eat, and be satisfied, and shall praise the name of Yahweh your God, who hath dealt with you wondrously, —so shall my people, not be abashed, unto times age-abiding.
27 Και θέλετε γνωρίσει ότι εγώ είμαι εν μέσω του Ισραήλ και εγώ είμαι Κύριος ο Θεός σας και δεν είναι άλλος ουδείς· και ο λαός μου δεν θέλει καταισχυνθή εις τον αιώνα.
So shall ye know that, in the midst of Israel, I am, and that, I, Yahweh, am your God, and none else, —and my people, shall not be abashed, unto times age-abiding.
28 Και μετά ταύτα θέλω εκχέει το πνεύμά μου επί πάσαν σάρκα· και θέλουσι προφητεύσει οι υιοί σας και αι θυγατέρες σας· οι πρεσβύτεροί σας θέλουσιν ενυπνιασθή ενύπνια, οι νεανίσκοι σας θέλουσιν ιδεί οράσεις.
And it shall come to pass, afterwards, I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters, shall prophesy, —your old men, shall dream, dreams, your young men, shall see, visions;
29 Και έτι επί τους δούλους μου και επί τας δούλας μου εν ταις ημέραις εκείναις θέλω εκχέει το πνεύμά μου.
Moreover also, upon the servants and upon the handmaids—in those days, will I pour out my spirit;
30 Και θέλω δείξει τέρατα εν τοις ουρανοίς και επί της γης, αίμα και πυρ και ατμίδα καπνού.
And I will set forth wonders in the heavens, and in the earth, —blood, and fire, and columns of smoke:
31 Ο ήλιος θέλει μεταστραφή εις σκότος και η σελήνη εις αίμα, πριν έλθη η ημέρα του Κυρίου η μεγάλη και επιφανής.
The sun, shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, —before the coming of the great and awful day of Yahweh.
32 Και πας όστις επικαλεσθή το όνομα του Κυρίου, θέλει σωθή· διότι εν τω όρει Σιών και εν Ιερουσαλήμ θέλει είσθαι σωτηρία, καθώς είπεν ο Κύριος, και εις τους υπολοίπους τους οποίους ο Κύριος θέλει προσκαλέσει.
And it shall come to pass, whosoever, shall call on the name of Yahweh, shall be delivered, —For in Mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, shall be a delivered remnant, just as Yahweh hath said, and among the survivors, whom Yahweh doth call.
