Ἰώβ 21
1 Και απεκρίθη ο Ιώβ και είπεν·
But Job answered and said,
2 Ακούσατε μετά προσοχής την ομιλίαν μου, και τούτο ας ήναι αντί των παρηγοριών σας.
Hear you, hear you my words, that I may not have this consolation from you.
3 Υποφέρετέ με να λαλήσω· και αφού λαλήσω, εμπαίζετε.
Raise me, and I will speak; then you shall not laugh me to scorn.
4 Μη εις άνθρωπον παραπονούμαι εγώ; διά τι λοιπόν να μη ταραχθή το πνεύμά μου;
What! is my reproof of man? and why should I not be angry?
5 Εμβλέψατε εις εμέ και θαυμάσατε, και βάλετε χείρα επί στόματος.
Look upon me, and wonder, laying your hand upon your cheek.
6 Μόνον να ενθυμηθώ, ταράττομαι, και τρόμος κυριεύει την σάρκα μου.
For even when I remember, I am alarmed, and pains seize my flesh.
7 Διά τι οι ασεβείς ζώσι, γηράσκουσι, μάλιστα ακμάζουσιν εις πλούτη;
Therefore do the ungodly live, and grow old even in wealth?
8 Το σπέρμα αυτών στερεούται έμπροσθεν αυτών μετ' αυτών, και τα έκγονα αυτών έμπροσθεν των οφθαλμών αυτών.
Their seed is according to [their] desire, and their children are in [their] sight.
9 Αι οικίαι αυτών είναι ασφαλείς από φόβου· και ράβδος Θεού δεν είναι επ' αυτούς.
Their houses are prosperous, neither [have they] any where [cause for] fear, neither is there a scourge from the Lord upon them.
10 Ο βους αυτών συλλαμβάνει και δεν αποτυγχάνει· η δάμαλις αυτών τίκτει και δεν αποβάλλει.
Their cow does not cast her calf, and their [beast] with young is safe, and does not miscarry.
11 Απολύουσι τα τέκνα αυτών ως πρόβατα, και τα παιδία αυτών σκιρτώσι.
And they remain as an unfailing flock, and their children play before [them], taking up the lute and harp;
12 Λαμβάνουσι το τύμπανον και την κιθάραν και ευφραίνονται εις τον ήχον του οργάνου.
and they rejoice at the voice of a song.
And they spend their days in wealth, and fall asleep in the rest of the grave. (Sheol h7585)
14 Και λέγουσι προς τον Θεόν, απόστηθι αφ' ημών, διότι δεν θέλομεν να γνωρίσωμεν τας οδούς σου·
Yet [such a man] says to the Lord, Depart from me; I desire not to know your ways.
15 τι είναι ο Παντοδύναμος διά να δουλεύωμεν αυτόν; και τι ωφελούμεθα επικαλούμενοι αυτόν;
What is the Mighty One, that we should serve him? and what profit is there that we should approach him?
16 Ιδού, τα αγαθά αυτών δεν είναι εν τη χειρί αυτών· μακράν απ' εμού η βουλή των ασεβών.
For their good things were in [their] hands, but he regards not the works of the ungodly.
17 Ποσάκις σβύνεται ο λύχνος των ασεβών, και έρχεται η καταστροφή αυτών επ' αυτούς Ο Θεός διαμοιράζει εις αυτούς ωδίνας εν τη οργή αυτού.
Nevertheless, the lamp of the ungodly also shall be put out, and destruction shall come upon them, and pangs of vengeance shall seize them.
18 Είναι ως άχυρον έμπροσθεν του ανέμου· και ως κονιορτός, τον οποίον αρπάζει ο ανεμοστρόβιλος.
And they shall be as chaff before the wind, or as dust which the storm has taken up.
19 Ο Θεός φυλάττει την ποινήν της ανομίας αυτών διά τους υιούς αυτών· ανταποδίδει εις αυτούς, και θέλουσι γνωρίσει τούτο.
Let his substance fail [to supply] his children: [God] shall recompense him, and he shall know it.
20 Οι οφθαλμοί αυτών θέλουσιν ιδεί την καταστροφήν αυτών, και θέλουσι πίει από του θυμού του Παντοδυνάμου.
Let his eyes see his own destruction, and let him not be saved by the Lord.
21 Διότι ο ασεβής ποίαν ηδονήν έχει μεθ' εαυτόν εν τω οίκω αυτού, αφού κοπή εις το μέσον ο αριθμός των μηνών αυτού;
For his desire is in his house with him, and the number of his months has been suddenly cut off.
22 Θέλει διδάξει τις τον Θεόν γνώσιν; και αυτός κρίνει τους υψηλούς.
Is it not the Lord who teaches understanding and knowledge? and does not he judge murders?
23 Ο μεν αποθνήσκει εν τω άκρω της ευδαιμονίας αυτού, ενώ είναι κατά πάντα ευτυχής και ήσυχος·
One shall die in his perfect strength, and wholly at ease and prosperous;
24 τα πλευρά αυτού είναι πλήρη πάχους, και τα οστά αυτού ποτίζονται μυελόν.
and his inwards are full of fat, and his marrow is diffused [throughout him].
25 Ο δε αποθνήσκει εν πικρία ψυχής, και ποτέ δεν έφαγεν εν ευφροσύνη.
And another dies in bitterness of soul, not eating any good thing.
26 Θέλουσι κοίτεσθαι ομού εν τω χώματι, και σκώληκες θέλουσι σκεπάσει αυτούς.
But they lie down in the earth together, and corruption covers them.
27 Ιδού, γνωρίζω τους διαλογισμούς σας, και τας πονηρίας τας οποίας μηχανάσθε κατ' εμού.
So I know you, that you presumptuously attack me:
28 Διότι λέγετε, Που ο οίκος του άρχοντος; και που η σκηνή της κατοικήσεως των ασεβών;
so that you will say, Where is the house of the prince? and where is the covering of the tabernacles of the ungodly?
29 Δεν ηρωτήσατε τους διαβαίνοντας την οδόν; και τα σημεία αυτών δεν καταλαμβάνετε;
Ask those that go by the way, and do not disown their tokens.
30 Ότι ο ασεβής φυλάττεται εις ημέραν αφανισμού, εις ημέραν οργής φέρεται.
For the wicked hastens to the day of destruction: they shall be led away for the day of his vengeance.
31 Τις θέλει φανερώσει έμπροσθεν αυτού την οδόν αυτού; και τις θέλει ανταποδώσει εις αυτόν ό, τι αυτός έπραξε;
Who will tell him his way to his face, whereas he has done [it]? who shall recompense him?
32 και αυτός θέλει φερθή εις τον τάφον, και θέλει διαμένει εν τω μνήματι.
And he has been led away to the tombs, and he has watched over the heaps.
33 Οι βώλοι της κοιλάδος θέλουσιν είσθαι γλυκείς εις αυτόν, και πας άνθρωπος θέλει υπάγει κατόπιν αυτού, καθώς αναρίθμητοι προπορεύονται αυτού.
The stones of the valley have been sweet to him, and every man shall depart after him, and [there are] innumerable [ones] before him.
34 Πως λοιπόν με παρηγορείτε ματαίως, αφού εις τας αποκρίσεις σας μένει ψεύδος;
How then do you comfort me in vain? whereas I have no rest from your molestation.
