Ἱερεμίας 37
1 Και εβασίλευσε Σεδεκίας ο βασιλεύς, ο υιός του Ιωσίου, αντί Χονίου υιού του Ιωακείμ, τον οποίον Ναβουχοδονόσορ ο βασιλεύς της Βαβυλώνος κατέστησε βασιλέα εν τη γη Ιούδα.
And king Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.
2 Και δεν ήκουσεν αυτός και οι δούλοι αυτού και ο λαός του τόπου τους λόγους του Κυρίου, τους οποίους ελάλησε διά Ιερεμίου του προφήτου.
But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, did hearken unto the words of the LORD, which he spoke by the prophet Jeremiah.
3 Και απέστειλεν ο βασιλεύς Σεδεκίας τον Ιεουχάλ υιόν του Σελεμίου και τον Σοφονίαν υιόν του Μαασίου, τον ιερέα, προς Ιερεμίαν τον προφήτην, λέγων, Δεήθητι, παρακαλώ, υπέρ ημών προς Κύριον τον Θεόν ημών.
And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now unto the LORD our God for us.
4 Ο δε Ιερεμίας εισήρχετο και εξήρχετο μεταξύ του λαού, και δεν είχον βάλει αυτόν εις φυλακήν.
Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people: for they had not put him into prison.
5 Και εξήλθε το στράτευμα του Φαραώ εκ της Αιγύπτου· και ότε οι Χαλδαίοι οι πολιορκούντες την Ιερουσαλήμ ήκουσαν την φήμην αυτών, ανεχώρησαν από Ιερουσαλήμ.
Then Pharaoh's army was come forth out of Egypt: and when the Chaldeans that besieged Jerusalem heard tidings of them, they departed from Jerusalem.
6 Και έγεινε λόγος Κυρίου προς Ιερεμίαν τον προφήτην, λέγων,
Then came the word of the LORD unto the prophet Jeremiah saying,
7 Ούτω λέγει Κύριος ο Θεός του Ισραήλ· Ούτω θέλετε ειπεί προς τον βασιλέα του Ιούδα, όστις απέστειλεν υμάς προς εμέ διά να με ερωτήσητε· Ιδού, το στράτευμα του Φαραώ το εξελθόν εις βοήθειαν υμών θέλει επιστρέψει εις την γην αυτού, την Αίγυπτον·
Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel; Thus shall all of you say to the king of Judah, that sent you unto me to enquire of me; Behold, Pharaoh's army, which has come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land.
8 και οι Χαλδαίοι θέλουσιν επαναστρέψει και πολεμήσει κατά της πόλεως ταύτης και θέλουσι κυριεύσει αυτήν και κατακαύσει αυτήν εν πυρί.
And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire.
9 Ούτω λέγει Κύριος· Μη πλανάσθε, λέγοντες, οι Χαλδαίοι εξάπαντος θέλουσιν απέλθει αφ' ημών· επειδή δεν θέλουσιν απέλθει.
Thus says the LORD; Deceive not yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us: for they shall not depart.
10 Διότι και αν πατάξητε άπαν το στράτευμα των Χαλδαίων, το οποίον σας πολεμεί, και εναπολειφθώσι πεπληγωμένοι τινές μεταξύ αυτών, ούτοι θέλουσι σηκωθή έκαστος εκ της σκηνής αυτού και κατακαύσει την πόλιν ταύτην εν πυρί.
For though all of you had smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yet should they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.
11 Και ότε το στράτευμα των Χαλδαίων απήλθεν από Ιερουσαλήμ διά τον φόβον του στρατεύματος του Φαραώ,
And it came to pass, that when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh's army,
12 τότε εξήλθεν ο Ιερεμίας εξ Ιερουσαλήμ, διά να υπάγη εις την γην Βενιαμίν, ώστε να υπεκφύγη εκείθεν μεταξύ του λαού.
Then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to separate himself thence in the midst of the people.
13 Και ότε αυτός ήλθεν εις την πύλην Βενιαμίν, ο αρχηγός της φρουράς ευρίσκετο εκεί, του οποίου το όνομα ήτο Ιρεΐας υιός του Σελεμίου, υιού του Ανανίου· και επίασε τον Ιερεμίαν τον προφήτην, λέγων, Συ προσφεύγεις προς τους Χαλδαίους.
And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he took Jeremiah the prophet, saying, You fall away to the Chaldeans.
14 Και είπεν ο Ιερεμίας, Ψεύδος είναι· εγώ δεν προσφεύγω προς τους Χαλδαίους. Πλην δεν ήκουσεν αυτόν· και επίασεν ο Ιρεΐας τον Ιερεμίαν και έφερεν αυτόν προς τους άρχοντας.
Then said Jeremiah, It is false; I fall not away to the Chaldeans. But he hearkened not to him: so Irijah took Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.
15 Και ωργίσθησαν οι άρχοντες κατά του Ιερεμίου και επάταξαν αυτόν και εφυλάκισαν αυτόν εν τη οικία Ιωνάθαν τον γραμματέως, διότι ταύτην είχον κάμει δεσμωτήριον.
Wherefore the princes were angry with Jeremiah, and stroke him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe: for they had made that the prison.
16 Ότε δε ο Ιερεμίας εισήλθεν εις τον λάκκον και εις τας κρύπτας και εκάθησεν ο Ιερεμίας εκεί πολλάς ημέρας,
When Jeremiah was entered into the dungeon, and into the cabins, and Jeremiah had remained there many days;
17 τότε απέστειλε Σεδεκίας ο βασιλεύς και έλαβεν αυτόν, και ηρώτησεν αυτόν ο βασιλεύς κρυφίως εν τη οικία αυτού και είπεν, Είναι λόγος παρά Κυρίου; Και ο Ιερεμίας είπεν, είναι· και είπεν, εις την χείρα του βασιλέως της Βαβυλώνος θέλεις παραδοθή.
Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took him out: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from the LORD? And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, you shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.
18 Και είπεν ο Ιερεμίας προς τον βασιλέα Σεδεκίαν, Τι ημάρτησα εις σε ή εις τους δούλους σου ή εις τον λαόν τούτον, και με εβάλετε εις το δεσμωτήριον;
Moreover Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, What have I offended against you, or against your servants, or against this people, that all of you have put me in prison?
19 και που είναι οι προφήταί σας οι προφητεύσαντες εις εσάς, λέγοντες, Ο βασιλεύς της Βαβυλώνος δεν θέλει ελθεί εφ' υμάς και επί την γην ταύτην;
Where are now your prophets which prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?
20 διά τούτο άκουσον τώρα, παρακαλώ, κύριέ μου βασιλεύ· ας γείνη δεκτή, παρακαλώ, η δέησίς μου ενώπιόν σου· και μη με επαναστρέψης εις την οικίαν Ιωνάθαν του γραμματέως, διά να μη αποθάνω εκεί.
Therefore hear now, I pray you, O my lord the king: let my supplication, I pray you, be accepted before you; that you cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.
21 Τότε προσέταξεν ο βασιλεύς Σεδεκίας και εφύλαττον τον Ιερεμίαν εν τη αυλή της φυλακής, και έδιδον εις αυτόν καθ' ημέραν ολίγον άρτον εκ των αρτοπωλείων, εωσού εξέλιπεν όλος ο άρτος της πόλεως. Και έμεινεν ο Ιερεμίας εν τη αυλή της φυλακής.
Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers' street, until all the bread in the city were spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.
