Ἱερεμίας 12
1 Δίκαιος είσαι Κύριε, όταν δικολογώμαι μετά σού· πλην ας διαλεχθώ μετά σου περί των κρίσεών σου· διατί η οδός των ασεβών ευοδούται; διά τι ευημερούσι πάντες οι φερόμενοι απίστως;
O Lord, if I dispute with thee, thou art righteous: yet let mee talke with thee of thy iudgements: wherefore doeth the way of the wicked prosper? why are all they in wealth that rebelliously transgresse?
2 Εφύτευσας αυτούς, μάλιστα ερριζώθησαν· αυξάνουσι, μάλιστα καρποφορούσι· συ είσαι πλησίον του στόματος αυτών και μακράν από των νεφρών αυτών.
Thou hast planted them, and they haue taken roote: they grow, and bring forth fruite: thou art neere in their mouth, and farre from their reines.
3 Αλλά συ, Κύριε, με γνωρίζεις· με είδες και εδοκίμασας την καρδίαν μου ενώπιόν σου· σύρε αυτούς ως πρόβατα διά σφαγήν και ετοίμασον αυτούς διά την ημέραν της σφαγής.
But thou, Lord, knowest me: thou hast seene me, and tried mine heart towarde thee: pull them out like sheepe for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.
4 Έως πότε θέλει πενθεί η γη, και ο χόρτος παντός αγρού θέλει ξηραίνεσθαι διά την κακίαν των κατοιούντων εν αυτή; Ηφανίσθησαν τα κτήνη και τα πτηνά, διότι είπον, δεν θέλει ιδεί τα έσχατα ημών.
Howe long shall the lande mourne, and the herbes of euery fielde wither, for the wickednesse of them that dwell therein? the beastes are consumed and the birdes, because they sayd, He wil not see our last ende.
5 Εάν τρέξης μετά των πεζών και σε κάμωσι να ατονήσης, τότε πως θέλεις αντιπαραταχθή προς τους ίππους; και εάν απέκαμες εν τη γη της ειρήνης, εφ' ην ήλπιζες, τότε πως θέλεις κάμει εις το φρύαγμα του Ιορδάνου;
If thou hast runne with the footemen and they haue wearied thee, then howe canst thou match thy selfe with horses? and if thou thoughtest thy selfe safe in a peaceable lande, what wilt thou do in the swelling of Iorden?
6 Διότι και οι αδελφοί σου και ο οίκος του πατρός σου και αυτοί εφέρθησαν απίστως προς σέ· ναι, αυτοί εβόησαν όπισθέν σου μεγαλοφώνως· μη πιστεύσης αυτούς, και αν λαλήσωσι καλά προς σε.
For euen thy brethren, and the house of thy father, euen they haue delt vnfaithfully with thee, and they haue cryed out altogether vpon thee: but beleeue them not, though they speake faire to thee.
7 Εγκατέλιπον τον οίκόν μου, αφήκα την κληρονομίαν μου, έδωκα την ηγαπημένην της ψυχής μου εις τας χείρας των εχθρών αυτής.
I haue forsaken mine house: I haue left mine heritage: I haue giuen the dearely beloued of my soule into the hands of her enemies.
8 Η κληρονομία μου έγεινεν εις εμέ ως λέων εν δρυμώ· εξέπεμψε την φωνήν αυτής εναντίον μου· διά τούτο εμίσησα αυτήν.
Mine heritage is vnto mee, as a lion in the forest: it crieth out against mee, therefore haue I hated it.
9 Η κληρονομία μου είναι εις εμέ όρνεον αρπακτικόν, τα όρνεα κύκλω είναι εναντίον αυτής· έλθετε, συνάχθητε, πάντα τα θηρία του αγρού, έλθετε να καταφάγητε αυτήν.
Shall mine heritage bee vnto mee, as a bird of diuers colours? are not the birdes about her, saying, Come, assemble all ye beastes of the fielde, come to eate her?
10 Ποιμένες πολλοί διέφθειραν τον αμπελώνά μου, κατεπάτησαν την μερίδα μου, κατέστησαν την μερίδα την επιθυμητήν μου έρημον άβατον.
Many pastors haue destroyed my vineyarde, and troden my portion vnder foote: of my pleasant portion they haue made a desolate wildernesse.
11 Παρέδωκαν αυτήν εις ερήμωσιν· ερημωθείσα πενθεί ενώπιόν μου· πάσα η γη ηρημώθη, διότι δεν υπάρχει ο φροντίζων.
They haue layde it waste, and it, being waste, mourneth vnto me: and the whole lande lyeth waste, because no man setteth his minde on it.
12 Επί πάσας τας υψηλάς θέσεις της ερήμου ήλθον οι λεηλάται· διότι η μάχαιρα του Κυρίου θέλει καταφάγει απ' άκρου της γης έως άκρου της γής· εις ουδεμίαν σάρκα δεν θέλει είσθαι ειρήνη.
The destroyers are come vpon all the high places in the wildernesse: for the sworde of the Lord shall deuoure from the one end of the land, euen to the other ende of the lande: no flesh shall haue peace.
13 Έσπειραν σίτον αλλά θέλουσι θερίσει ακάνθας· εκοπίασαν αλλά δεν θέλουσιν ωφεληθή· και θέλετε αισχυνθή διά τα προϊόντα σας από του φλογερού θυμού του Κυρίου.
They haue sowen wheate, and reaped thornes: they were sicke, and had no profite: and they were ashamed of your fruites, because of the fierce wrath of the Lord.
14 Ούτω λέγει ο Κύριος κατά πάντων των κακών γειτόνων μου, οίτινες εγγίζουσι την κληρονομίαν την οποίαν κληροδότησα εις τον λαόν μου τον Ισραήλ· Ιδού, θέλω αποσπάσει αυτούς από της γης αυτών, και θέλω αποσπάσει τον οίκον Ιούδα εκ μέσου αυτών.
Thus sayeth the Lord against all mine euill neighbours, that touch the inheritance, which I haue caused my people Israel to inherite, Beholde, I will plucke them out of their lande, and plucke out the house of Iudah from among them.
15 Και αφού αποσπάσω αυτούς, θέλω επιστρέψει και ελεήσει αυτούς, και θέλω επαναφέρει έκαστον εις την κληρονομίαν αυτού και έκαστον εις την γην αυτού.
And after that I haue plucked them out, I will returne, and haue compassion on them, and will bring againe euery man to his heritage, and euery man to his land.
16 Και εάν μάθωσι καλώς τας οδούς του λαού μου, να ομνύωσιν εις το όνομά μου, Ζη Κύριος, καθώς εδίδαξαν τον λαόν μου να ομνύη εις τον Βάαλ, τότε θέλουσιν οικοδομηθή εν τω μέσω του λαού μου.
And if they will learne the wayes of my people, to sweare by my Name, (The Lord liueth, as they taught my people to sweare by Baal) then shall they be built in the middes of my people.
17 Αλλ' εάν δεν υπακούσωσι, θέλω αποσπάσει ολοτελώς και εξολοθρεύσει το έθνος εκείνο, λέγει Κύριος.
But if they will not obey, then will I vtterly plucke vp, and destroy that nation, sayeth the Lord.
