Ἠσαΐας 59
1 Ιδού, η χειρ του Κυρίου δεν εσμικρύνθη, ώστε να μη δύναται να σώση, ουδέ το ωτίον αυτού εβάρυνεν, ώστε να μη δύναται να ακούση·
Lo! the hand of Yahweh is not too short to save, —Neither is his ear too heavy to hear.
2 αλλ' αι ανομίαι σας έβαλον χωρίσματα μεταξύ υμών και του Θεού υμών, και αι αμαρτίαι σας έκρυψαν το πρόσωπον αυτού από σας, διά να μη ακούη.
But, your iniquities, have become separators betwixt you and your God, And your sins, have caused a hiding of face from you that he should-not hear.
3 Διότι αι χείρές σας είναι μεμολυσμέναι από αίματος και οι δάκτυλοί σας από ανομίας· τα χείλη σας ελάλησαν ψεύδη· η γλώσσα σας εμελέτησε κακίαν.
For, your hands, are defiled with blood, And, your fingers, with iniquity, —Your lips, have spoken falsehood, and Your tongue, muttereth, perversity.
4 Ουδείς εκζητεί την δικαιοσύνην ουδέ κρίνει εν αληθεία· θαρρούσιν επί την ματαιότητα και λαλούσι ψεύδη· συλλαμβάνουσι κακίαν και γεννώσιν ανομίαν.
None, sueth in righteousness, and None, pleadeth in faithfulness, —Men are trusting in confusion, And speaking vanity, Conceiving wickedness And bringing forth iniquity:
5 Βασιλίσκου ωά επωάζουσι και ιστόν αράχνης υφαίνουσιν· όστις φάγη εκ των ωών αυτών, αποθνήσκει· και αν σπάσης κανέν, εξέρχεται έχιδνα.
Viper’s eggs, do they hatch, Spider’s threads, do they weave, —He that eateth of their eggs, dieth, And, that which is crushed, bringeth forth an adder;
6 Τα πανία αυτών δεν θέλουσι χρησιμεύσει εις ενδύματα, ουδέ θέλουσιν ενδυθή από των έργων αυτών· τα έργα αυτών είναι έργα ανομίας, και το έργον της βίας είναι εν ταις χερσίν αυτών.
Their threads, shall not become a garment, Neither shall they cover themselves with their fabrics, —Their fabrics, are fabrics of iniquity, Yea the product of violence is in their hands;
7 Οι πόδες αυτών τρέχουσι προς το κακόν και σπεύδουσι να χύσωσιν αίμα αθώον· οι διαλογισμοί αυτών είναι διαλογισμοί ανομίας· ερήμωσις και καταστροφή είναι εν ταις οδοίς αυτών.
Their feet, to mischief, do run, And they speed to shed innocent blood, —Their devices, are devices of iniquity, Wasting and destruction, are in their high roads;
8 Την οδόν της ειρήνης δεν γνωρίζουσι· και δεν είναι κρίσις εις τα βήματα αυτών· αυτοί εις εαυτούς διέστρεψαν τας οδούς αυτών· πας ο περιπατών εν αυταίς δεν γνωρίζει ειρήνην.
the way of well-being, have they not known, And there is no justice in their tracks, —Their paths, have they made crooked for themselves, None who treadeth therein knoweth well—being.
9 Διά τούτο η κρίσις είναι μακράν αφ' ημών και η δικαιοσύνη δεν μας φθάνει· προσμένομεν φως και ιδού, σκότος· λάμψιν, και περιπατούμεν εν ζόφω.
For this cause, hath justice removed far from us, And righteousness overtaketh us not, —We wait for light, But lo! darkness, For brightness, In thick darkness, we walk:
10 Ψηλαφώμεν τον τοίχον ως οι τυφλοί, και ψηλαφώμεν ως οι μη έχοντες οφθαλμούς· εν μεσημβρία προσκόπτομεν ως εν νυκτί· είμεθα εν μέσω των αγαθών ως νεκροί.
We grope, as blind men for a wall, Yea, as men without eyes, do we grope, —We have stumbled at broad noon as though it were twilight, In desolate places like the dead!
11 Πάντες βρυχώμεθα ως άρκτοι και στενάζομεν ως τρυγόνες· κρίσιν προσμένομεν αλλά δεν υπάρχει· σωτηρίαν αλλ' είναι μακράν αφ' ημών.
We growl like bears all of us, And, like doves, do we, mournfully coo, —We wait For justice, and there is none, For salvation it is far from us!
12 Διότι αι παραβάσεις ημών επληθύνθησαν ενώπιόν σου, και αι αμαρτίαι ημών είναι μάρτυρες καθ' ημών· διότι μεθ' ημών είναι αι παραβάσεις ημών· και τας ανομίας ημών ημείς γνωρίζομεν αυτάς·
For our transgressions have multiplied before thee, And, our sins, have witnessed against us, —For, our transgressions, are with us, And as for our iniquities, we acknowledge them:
13 παρέβημεν και εψεύσθημεν προς τον Κύριον και απεμακρύνθημεν από όπισθεν του Θεού ημών· ελαλήσαμεν άδικα και στασιαστικά· συνελάβομεν και επροφέραμεν εκ της καρδίας λόγους ψεύδους.
Transgressing, and denying Yahweh, And turning away from following our God, —Speaking oppression and revolt, Conceiving, and muttering from the heart, words of falsehood.
14 Και η κρίσις εστράφη οπίσω και η δικαιοσύνη ίσταται μακράν· διότι η αλήθεια έπεσεν εν τη οδώ και η ευθύτης δεν δύναται να εισχωρήση.
So then there hath been a driving back of justice, And righteousness, afar off, standeth, —For truth, hath stumbled in the broad-way, And, right, cannot enter;
15 Ναι, εξέλιπεν η αλήθεια· και ο εκκλίνων από του κακού γίνεται θήραμα. Και είδε Κύριος και δυσηρεστήθη ότι δεν υπήρχε κρίσις·
And the truth hath been found missing, And he that hath turned away from wrong is liable to be despoiled, And when, Yahweh, looked, Then was it grievous in his eyes that there was no justice:
16 και είδεν ότι δεν υπήρχεν άνθρωπος, και εθαύμασεν ότι δεν υπήρχεν ο μεσιτεύων· όθεν ο βραχίων αυτού ενήργησεν εις αυτόν σωτηρίαν· και η δικαιοσύνη αυτού, αυτή εβάστασεν αυτόν.
When he saw that there was no mighty man, Then was he astonished that there was none to interpose, —So his own arm brought him salvation, And his own righteousness, the same, upheld him;
17 Και ενεδύθη δικαιοσύνην ως θώρακα και περιέθηκε την περικεφαλαίαν της σωτηρίας επί την κεφαλήν αυτού· και εφόρεσεν ως ιμάτιον τα ενδύματα της εκδικήσεως και ως επένδυμα περιενεδύθη τον ζήλον.
And he put on Righteousness as a coat of mail, And a helmet of victory upon his head, —And he put on the garments of avenging, for clothing, And wrapped about him as a cloak—jealousy,
18 Κατά τα έργα αυτών, ούτω θέλει ανταποδώσει, οργήν εις τους εναντίους αυτού, ανταπόδοσιν εις τους εχθρούς αυτού· θέλει κάμει ανταπόδοσιν και εις τας νήσους.
According to their deeds, accordingly, will he repay, Indignation to his adversaries, Recompense to his enemies, —To the Coastlands—recompense, will he repay:
19 Και θέλουσι φοβηθή το όνομα του Κυρίου από δυσμών και την δόξαν αυτού από ανατολών ηλίου· όταν ο εχθρός επέλθη ως ποταμός, το πνεύμα του Κυρίου θέλει υψώσει σημαίαν εναντίον αυτού.
That they may revere—From the West the name of Yahweh, And from the Rising of the Sun his glory, For he will come in like a rushing stream, the breath of Yahweh, driving it on;
20 Και ο Λυτρωτής θέλει ελθεί εις Σιών και προς τους όσοι εκ του Ιακώβ επιστρέφουσιν από της παραβάσεως, λέγει Κύριος.
So shall come in for Zion, a Redeemer, Even for such as are turning from transgression in Jacob, —Declareth Yahweh.
21 Παρ' εμού δε αύτη είναι η προς αυτούς διαθήκη μου, λέγει Κύριος· το πνεύμά μου το επί σε και οι λόγοι μου, τους οποίους έθεσα εν τω στόματί σου, δεν θέλουσι λείψει από του στόματός σου ούτε από του στόματος του σπέρματός σου ούτε από του στόματος του σπέρματος του σπέρματός σου, από του νυν και έως αιώνος, λέγει Κύριος.
And as for me, this, shall be my covenant with them, Saith Yahweh: My spirit that is upon thee, And my words which I have put in thy mouth, —Shall not be taken out of thy mouth—Nor out of the mouth of thy seed. Nor out of the mouth of thy seeds seed, Saith Yahweh, From henceforth even unto times age-abiding.
