Ἠσαΐας 33
1 Ουαί εις σε, όστις πορθείς και δεν επορθήθης· και καταδυναστεύεις και δεν κατεδυναστεύθης· όταν παύσης πορθών, θέλεις πορθηθή· όταν τελειώσης καταδυναστεύων, θέλεις καταδυναστευθή.
Woe to thee, thou spoiler, who hast not been spoiled! Thou plunderer, who hast not been plundered! When thou hast ceased to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; When thou hast finished plundering, they shall plunder thee.
2 Κύριε, ελέησον ημάς· σε προσμένομεν· έσο βραχίων αυτών καθ' εκάστην πρωΐαν και σωτηρία ημών εν καιρώ θλίψεως.
O Jehovah, have mercy upon us! in thee do we trust; Be thou our strength every morning, Our salvation in the time of trouble.
3 Από της φωνής του θορύβου οι λαοί έφυγον· από της ανυψώσεώς σου τα έθνη διεσκορπίσθησαν.
At the voice of thy thunder the people flee; When thou dost arise, the nations are scattered.
4 Και τα λάφυρά σας θέλουσι συναχθή, καθώς συνάγουσιν οι βρούχοι· θέλουσι πηδήσει επ' αυτόν, καθώς η ακρίς πηδά εδώ και εκεί.
Your spoil shall be gathered, as the locust gathereth; As the locust runneth, so shall they run upon it.
5 Ο Κύριος υψώθη· διότι κατοικεί εν υψηλοίς· ενέπλησε την Σιών κρίσεως και δικαιοσύνης.
Jehovah is exalted; Yea, he dwelleth on high; He filleth Zion with justice and righteousness.
6 Σοφία δε και επιστήμη θέλουσιν είσθαι η στερέωσις των καιρών σου και η σωτήριος δύναμις· ο φόβος του Κυρίου, αυτός είναι ο θησαυρός αυτού.
There shall be security in thy times; Wisdom and knowledge shall be thy store of prosperity, And the fear of Jehovah, this shall be thy treasure!
7 Ιδού, οι ανδρείοι αυτών θέλουσι βοήσει έξωθεν, και οι πρέσβεις της ειρήνης θέλουσι κλαύσει πικρώς.
Behold, the mighty men cry without: The ambassadors of peace weep bitterly.
8 Αι οδοί ηρημώθησαν, οι οδοιπόροι έπαυσαν· διέλυσε την συνθήκην, απέβαλε τας πόλεις, δεν λογίζεται άνθρωπον.
The highways are desolate; The traveller ceaseth; He breaketh the covenant; he despiseth the cities; Of men he maketh no account.
9 Η γη πενθεί, μαραίνεται· ο Λίβανος αισχύνεται, κατακόπτεται· ο Σαρών ομοιάζει έρημον· και η Βασάν και ο Κάρμηλος κατετινάχθησαν.
The land mourneth and languisheth; Lebanon is put to shame, and withered away; Sharon is like a desert, And Bashan and Carmel are stripped of their leaves.
10 Τώρα θέλω σηκωθή, λέγει Κύριος· τώρα θέλω υψωθή, τώρα θέλω μεγαλυνθή.
Now will I arise, saith Jehovah, Now will I exalt myself, Now will I lift myself up.
11 Χνούν θέλετε συλλάβει και άχυρον θέλετε γεννήσει· η πνοή σας ως πυρ θέλει σας καταφάγει.
Ye shall conceive chaff, and bring forth stubble; Your own wrath is the fire which shall devour you.
12 Και οι λαοί θέλουσιν είσθαι ως καύσεις ασβέστου· ως άκανθαι κεκομμέναι θέλουσι καυθή εν πυρί.
The nations shall be burnt into lime; Like thorns cut down, they shall be consumed with fire.
13 Οι μακράν, ακούσατε τι έκαμον· και σεις οι πλησίον, γνωρίσατε την δύναμίν μου.
Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done; Mark, ye that are near, my power!
14 Οι αμαρτωλοί εν Σιών θέλουσι τρομάξει· τρόμος θέλει καταλάβει τους υποκριτάς, ώστε θέλουσι λέγει, Τις μεταξύ ημών θέλει κατοικήσει μετά του κατατρώγοντος πυρός; τις μεταξύ ημών θέλει κατοικήσει μετά των αιωνίων καύσεων;
The sinners in Zion are struck with dread; Terror hath seized upon the unrighteous: “Who among us can dwell in devouring fire? Who among us can dwell in everlasting flames?”
15 Ο περιπατών εν δικαιοσύνη και ο λαλών εν ευθύτητι· ο καταφρονών το κέρδος των δυναστεύσεων, ο σείων τας χείρας αυτού από δωροληψίας, ο εμφράττων τα ώτα αυτού διά να μη ακούη περί αίματος, και ο κλείων τους οφθαλμούς αυτού διά να μη ίδη το κακόν·
He that walketh in righteousness, And speaketh that which is right, That despiseth the gain of oppression, And shaketh his hands from bribery, That stoppeth his ears, so as not to hear of blood, And shutteth his eyes, so as not to behold iniquity.
16 ούτος θέλει κατοικήσει εν τοις υψηλοίς· οι τόποι της υπερασπίσεως αυτού θέλουσιν είσθαι τα οχυρώματα των βράχων· άρτος θέλει δοθή εις αυτόν· το ύδωρ αυτού θέλει είσθαι βέβαιον·
He shall dwell on high; The strongholds of rocks shall be his defence; His bread shall be given him; His water shall not fail.
17 Οι οφθαλμοί σου θέλουσιν ιδεί τον βασιλέα εν τη ώραιότητι αυτού· θέλουσιν ιδεί την γην την μακράν.
Thine eyes shall see the king in his glory They shall survey a wide-extended land.
18 Η καρδία σου θέλει μελετά τον παρελθόντα τρόμον, φωνάζουσα, Που είναι ο γραμματεύς; που ο συζητητής; που ο λογιστής των πύργων;
Thy heart shall meditate on the past terror: “Where now is the scribe? Where the weigher of tribute? Where he that numbered the towers?”
19 δεν θέλεις ιδεί λαόν άγριον, λαόν βαθείας φωνής, ώστε να μη διακρίνης· τραυλιζούσης γλώσσης, ώστε να μη εννοής.
Thou shalt see no more a fierce people, A people of a dark language, which thou couldst not hear, And of a barbarous tongue, which thou couldst not understand;
20 Ανάβλεψον εις την Σιών, την πόλιν των εορτών ημών· οι οφθαλμοί σου θέλουσιν ιδεί την Ιερουσαλήμ ήσυχον κατοικίαν, σκηνήν ήτις δεν θέλει καταβιβασθή· οι πάσσαλοι αυτής δεν θέλουσι μετακινηθή εις τον αιώνα και ουδέν εκ των σχοινίων αυτής θέλει κοπή.
Thou shalt see Zion, the city of our solemn feasts; Thine eyes shall behold Jerusalem, as a quiet habitation. A tent that shall never be moved, Whose stakes shall never be taken away, And whose cords shall never be broken.
21 Αλλ' εκεί ο Κύριος της δόξης θέλει είσθαι εις ημάς τόπος πλατέων ποταμών και ρευμάτων· εκεί δεν θέλει εισέλθει πλοίον διά κωπίων ούτε ναυς μεγαλοπρεπής θέλει περάσει εκείθεν.
For there the glorious Jehovah will be to us Instead of rivers and broad streams, Which no oared galley shall pass, And no gallant ship go through.
22 Διότι ο Κύριος είναι ο κριτής ημών· ο Κύριος είναι ο νομοθέτης ημών· ο Κύριος είναι ο βασιλεύς ημών· αυτός θέλει σώσει ημάς.
For Jehovah is our judge; Jehovah is our lawgiver; Jehovah is our king; it is he that will save us.
23 Τα σχοινία σου εχαυνώθησαν· δεν δύνανται να στερεώσωσι το κατάρτιον αυτών, δεν δύνανται να εξαπλώσωσι τα πανία· τότε λεία μεγάλων λαφύρων θέλει διαμερισθή· οι χωλοί θέλουσι διαρπάσει την λείαν.
Thy ropes hang loose; They cannot hold the mast-socket, Nor can they spread the sail. Then shall a great spoil be divided; Even the lame shall take the prey.
24 Και ο κάτοικος δεν θέλει λέγει, Ητόνησα· ο λαός ο κατοικών εν αυτή θέλει λάβει άφεσιν ανομίας.
No inhabitant shall say, I am sick; The people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.
