Ἠσαΐας 29

1 Ουαί εις την Αριήλ, την Αριήλ, την πόλιν όπου κατώκησεν ο Δαβίδ· προσθέσατε ενιαυτόν επί ενιαυτόν· ας σφάζωσιν εορταστικάς θυσίας.

Woe to Ariel, to Ariel the city which David took: year is added to year: the solemnities are at an end.

2 Αλλ' εγώ θέλω στενοχωρήσει την Αριήλ, και εκεί θέλει είσθαι βάρος και θλίψις· και εις εμέ θέλει είσθαι ως Αριήλ.

And I will make a trench about Ariel, and it shall be in sorrow and mourning, and it shall be to me as Ariel.

3 Και θέλω στρατοπεδεύσει εναντίον σου κύκλω, και θέλω στήσει πολιορκίαν κατά σου με χαράκωμα, και θέλω ανεγείρει φρούρια εναντίον σου.

And I will make a circle round about thee, and will cast up a rampart against thee, and raise up bulwarks to besiege thee.

4 Και θέλεις ριφθή κάτω, θέλεις λαλεί από του εδάφους και η λαλιά σου θέλει είσθαι ταπεινή εκ του χώματος, και η φωνή σου εκ του εδάφους θέλει είσθαι ως του εγγαστριμύθου και η λαλιά σου θέλει ψιθυρίζει εκ του χώματος.

Thou shalt be brought down, thou shalt speak out of the earth, and thy speech shall be heard out of the ground: and thy voice shall be from the earth like that of the python, and out of the ground thy speech shall mutter.

5 Το δε πλήθος των εχθρών σου θέλει είσθαι ως κονιορτός και το πλήθος των φοβερών ως άχυρον φερόμενον υπό ανέμου· ναι, τούτο θέλει γείνει αιφνιδίως εν μιά στιγμή.

And the multitude of them that fan thee, shall be like small dust: and as ashes passing away, the multitude of them that have prevailed against thee.

6 Θέλει γείνει εις σε επίσκεψις παρά του Κυρίου των δυνάμεων, μετά βροντής και μετά σεισμού και φωνής μεγάλης, μετά ανεμοζάλης και ανεμοστροβίλου και φλογός πυρός κατατρώγοντος.

And it shall be at an instant suddenly. A visitation shall come from the Lord of hosts in thunder, and with earthquake, and with a great noise of whirlwind and tempest, and with the flame of devouring fire.

7 Και το πλήθος πάντων των εθνών των πολεμούντων εναντίον της Αριήλ, πάντες βεβαίως οι μαχόμενοι εναντίον αυτής και των οχυρωμάτων αυτής και οι στενοχωρούντες αυτήν θέλουσιν είσθαι ως όνειρον νυκτερινού οράματος.

And the multitude of all nations that have fought against Ariel, shall be as the dream of a vision by night, and all that have fought, and besieged and prevailed against it.

8 Καθώς μάλιστα ο πεινών ονειρεύεται ότι ιδού, τρώγει· πλην εξεγείρεται και η ψυχή αυτού είναι κενή· ή καθώς ο διψών ονειρεύεται ότι ιδού, πίνει· πλην εξεγείρεται και ιδού, είναι ητονημένος και η ψυχή αυτού διψά· ούτω θέλουσιν είσθαι τα πλήθη πάντων των εθνών των πολεμούντων εναντίον του όρους Σιών.

And as he that is hungry dreameth, and eateth, but when he is awake, his soul is empty: and as he that is thirsty dreameth, and drinketh, and after he is awake, is yet faint with thirst, and his soul is empty: so shall be the multitude of all the Gentiles, that have fought against mount Sion.

9 Στήτε και θαυμάσατε· αναβοήσατε και ανακράξατε· ούτοι μεθύουσιν αλλ' ουχί υπό οίνου· παραφέρονται αλλ' ουχί υπό σίκερα.

Be astonished, and wander, waver, and stagger: be drunk, and not with wine: stagger, and not with drunkenness.

10 Διότι ο Κύριος εξέχεεν εφ' υμάς πνεύμα βαθέος ύπνου και έκλεισε τους οφθαλμούς υμών· περιεκάλυψε τους προφήτας και τους άρχοντας υμών, τους βλέποντας οράσεις.

For the Lord hath mingled for you the spirit of a deep sleep, he will shut up your eyes, he will cover your prophets and princes, that see visions.

11 Και πάσα όρασις θέλει είσθαι εις εσάς ως λόγια εσφραγισμένου βιβλίου, το οποίον ήθελον δώσει εις τινά εξεύροντα να αναγινώσκη, λέγοντες, Ανάγνωθι τούτο, παρακαλώ· και εκείνος λέγει, Δεν δύναμαι, διότι είναι εσφραγισμένον·

And the vision of all shall be unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which when they shall deliver to one that is learned, they shall say: Read this: and he shall answer: I cannot, for it is sealed.

12 και δίδουσι το βιβλίον εις μη εξεύροντα να αναγινώσκη και λέγουσιν, Ανάγνωθι τούτο, παρακαλώ· και εκείνος λέγει, δεν εξεύρω να αναγινώσκω.

And the book shall be given to one that knoweth no letters, and it shall be said to him: Read: and he shall answer: I know no letters.

13 Διά τούτο ο Κύριος λέγει, Επειδή ο λαός ούτος με πλησιάζει διά του στόματος αυτού και με τιμά διά των χειλέων αυτού, αλλ' η καρδία αυτού απέχει μακράν απ' εμού, και με σέβονται, διδάσκοντες διδασκαλίας, εντάλματα ανθρώπων·

And the Lord said: Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips glorify me, but their heart is far from me, and they have feared me with the commandment and doctrines of men:

14 διά τούτο, ιδού, θέλω προσθέσει να κάμω θαυμαστόν έργον μεταξύ τούτου του λαού, θαυμαστόν έργον και εξαίσιον· διότι η σοφία των σοφών αυτού θέλει χαθή και η σύνεσις των συνετών αυτού θέλει κρυφθή.

Therefore behold I will proceed to cause an admiration in this people, by a great and wonderful miracle: for wisdom shall perish from their wise men, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

15 Ουαί εις τους σκάπτοντας βαθέως διά να κρύψωσι την βουλήν αυτών από του Κυρίου, και των οποίων τα έργα είναι εν τω σκότει, και λέγουσι, Τις βλέπει ημάς; και τις εξεύρει ημάς;

Woe to you that are deep of heart, to hide your counsel from the Lord: and their works are in the dark, and they say: Who seeth us, and who knoweth us?

16 Ω διεστραμμένοι, ο κεραμεύς θέλει νομισθή ως πηλός; το πλάσμα θέλει ειπεί περί του πλάσαντος αυτό, ούτος δεν με έπλασεν; ή το ποίημα θέλει ειπεί περί του ποιήσαντος αυτό, Ούτος δεν είχε νόησιν;

This thought of yours is perverse: as if the clay should think against the potter, and the work should say to the maker thereof: Thou madest me not: or the thing framed should say to him that fashioned it: Thou understandest not.

17 Δεν θέλει είσθαι έτι πολύ ολίγος καιρός και ο Λίβανος θέλει μεταβληθή εις καρποφόρον πεδιάδα, και η καρποφόρος πεδιάς θέλει λογισθή ως δάσος;

Is it not yet a very little while, and Libanus shall be turned into charmel, and charmel shall be esteemed as a forest?

18 Και εν εκείνη τη ημέρα οι κωφοί θέλουσιν ακούσει τους λόγους του βιβλίου, και οι οφθαλμοί των τυφλών θέλουσιν ιδεί, ελευθερωθέντες εκ του σκότους και εκ της ομίχλης.

And in that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, and out of darkness and obscurity the eyes of the blind shall see.

19 Και οι πραείς θέλουσιν επαυξήσει την χαράν αυτών εν Κυρίω, και οι πτωχοί των ανθρώπων θέλουσιν ευφρανθή διά τον Άγιον του Ισραήλ.

And the meek shall increase their joy in the Lord, and the poor men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

20 Διότι ο τρομερός εξέλιπε και ο χλευαστής εξωλοθρεύθη και πάντες οι παραφυλάττοντες την ανομίαν εξηλείφθησαν·

For he that did prevail hath failed, the scorner is consumed, and they are all cut off that watched for iniquity:

21 οίτινες κάμνουσι τον άνθρωπον πταίστην διά ένα λόγον, και στήνουσι παγίδα εις τον ελέγχοντα εν τη πύλη, και με ψεύδος διαστρέφουσι το δίκαιον.

That made men sin by word, and supplanted him that reproved them in the gate, and declined in vain from the just.

22 Όθεν ο Κύριος ο λυτρώσας τον Αβραάμ ούτω λέγει περί του οίκου Ιακώβ· ο Ιακώβ δεν θέλει πλέον αισχυνθή, και το πρόσωπον αυτού δεν θέλει πλέον ωχριάσει.

Therefore thus saith the Lord to the house of Jacob, he that redeemed Abraham: Jacob shall not now be confounded, neither shall his countenance now be ashamed:

23 Αλλ' όταν ίδη τα τέκνα αυτού, το έργον των χειρών μου, εν μέσω αυτού, θέλουσιν αγιάσει το όνομά μου και θέλουσιν αγιάσει τον Άγιον του Ιακώβ και θέλουσι φοβείσθαι τον Θεόν του Ισραήλ.

But when he shall see his children, the work of my hands in the midst of him sanctifying my name, and they shall sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall glorify the God of Israel:

24 Οι δε πλανώμενοι κατά το πνεύμα θέλουσιν ελθεί εις σύνεσιν, και οι γογγύζοντες θέλουσι μάθει διδασκαλίαν.

And they that erred in spirit, shall know understanding, and they that murmured, shall learn the law.
