Ὡσηέʹ 12

1 Ο Εφραΐμ βόσκεται άνεμον και κυνηγεί τον ανατολικόν άνεμον· καθ' ημέραν πληθύνει ψεύδη και όλεθρον κάμνουσι δε συνθήκην μετά των Ασσυρίων και φέρουσιν έλαιον εις την Αίγυπτον.

But Ephraim is an evil spirit, he has chased the east wind all the day: he has multiplied empty and vain things, and made a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil has gone in the way of traffic into Egypt.

2 Ο Κύριος έχει έτι κρίσιν μετά του Ιούδα, και θέλει επισκεφθή τον Ιακώβ κατά τας οδούς αυτού· κατά τας πράξεις αυτού θέλει ανταποδώσει εις αυτόν.

And the Lord [has] a controversy with Juda, in order to punish Jacob: according to his ways and according to his practices will he recompense him.

3 Εν τη κοιλία επτέρνισε τον αδελφόν αυτού και εν τη ανδρική ηλικία αυτού ενίσχυσε προς τον Θεόν.

He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and in his labours he had power with God.

4 Ναι, ενίσχυσε μετά αγγέλου και υπερίσχυσεν· έκλαυσε και εδεήθη αυτού· εν Βαιθήλ εύρηκεν αυτόν, και εκεί ελάλησε προς ημάς·

And he prevailed with the angel and was strong: they wept, and entreated me: they found me in the house of On, and there [a word] was spoken to them.

5 ναι, Κύριος ο Θεός των δυνάμεων, ο Κύριος είναι το μνημόσυνον αυτού.

But the Lord God Almighty shall be his memorial.

6 Διά τούτο συ επίστρεψον προς τον Θεόν σου· φύλαττε έλεος και κρίσιν και έλπιζε επί τον Θεόν σου διά παντός.

You therefore shall return to your God: keep you mercy and judgement, and draw near to your God continually.

7 Ο Εφραΐμ είναι έμπορος· ζύγια απάτης είναι εν τη χειρί αυτού· αγαπά να αδική.

[As for] Chanaan, in his hand is a balance of unrighteousness: he has loved to tyrannize.

8 Και ο Εφραΐμ είπε, Βεβαίως εγώ επλούτησα, απέκτησα υπάρχοντα εις εμαυτόν· εν πάσι τοις κόποις μου δεν θέλει ευρεθή εν εμοί ανομία, ήτις να λογίζηται αμαρτία.

And Ephraim said, Nevertheless I am rich, I have found refreshment to myself. None of his labours shall be found [available] to him, by reason of the sins which he has committed.

9 Εγώ δε είμαι Κύριος ο Θεός σου εκ γης Αιγύπτου, θέλω σε κατοικίσει έτι εν σκηναίς ως εν ημέραις επισήμου εορτής.

But I the Lord your God brought you up out of the land of Egypt: I will yet cause you to dwell in tabernacles, according to the days of the feast.

10 Ελάλησα έτι διά προφητών και οράσεις επλήθυνα εγώ, και παρέστησα ομοιώσεις διά χειρός των προφητών.

And I will speak to the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and by the means of the prophets I was represented.

11 Εν Γαλαάδ τάχα υπήρξεν ανομία; εν Γαλγάλοις μάλιστα εστάθησαν ματαιότης· θυσιάζουσι ταύρους, και τα θυσιαστήρια αυτών είναι ως σωροί εν ταις αύλαξι των αγρών.

If Galaad exists not, then the chiefs in Galaad when they sacrificed were false, and their altars were as heaps on the ground of the field.

12 Ο δε Ιακώβ έφυγεν εις την γην της Συρίας και ο Ισραήλ εδούλευσε διά γυναίκα και διά γυναίκα εφύλαξε πρόβατα.

And Jacob retreated into the plain of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and waited for a wife.

13 Και διά προφήτου ανεβίβασεν ο Κύριος τον Ισραήλ εξ Αιγύπτου και διά προφήτου διεφυλάχθη.

And the Lord brought Israel out of the land of Egypt by a prophet, and by a prophet was he preserve.

14 Ο Εφραΐμ παρώξυνεν αυτόν πικρότατα· διά τούτο θέλει εκχέει το αίμα αυτού επ' αυτόν και τον ονειδισμόν αυτού ο Κύριος αυτού θέλει επιστρέψει επ' αυτόν.

Ephraim was angry and excited, therefore his blood shall be poured out upon him, and the Lord shall recompense to him his reproach.
