Προς Εβραιους 5
1 Διότι πας αρχιερεύς, εξ ανθρώπων λαμβανόμενος, υπέρ ανθρώπων καθίσταται εις τα προς τον Θεόν, διά να προσφέρη δώρα τε και θυσίας υπέρ αμαρτιών,
For every high-priest taken from among men, is appointed for the sake of men in things relating to God, that he may offer gifts and sacrifices for sins:
2 δυνάμενος να συμπαθή εις τους αγνοούντας και πλανωμένους, διότι και αυτός είναι περιενδεδυμένος ασθένειαν·
who can have due compassion on the ignorant and those that are going astray; seeing he himself also is surrounded with infirmity:
3 και διά ταύτην χρεωστεί, καθώς περί του λαού, ούτω και περί εαυτού να προσφέρη θυσίαν υπέρ αμαρτιών.
and for this reason he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer sacrifice for sins.
4 Και ουδείς λαμβάνει την τιμήν ταύτην εις εαυτόν, αλλ' ο καλούμενος υπό του Θεού, καθώς και ο Ααρών.
And no one taketh this honor to himself, but he that is called by God, as Aaron was.
5 Ούτω και ο Χριστός δεν εδόξασεν εαυτόν διά να γείνη αρχιερεύς, αλλ' ο λαλήσας προς αυτόν· Υιός μου είσαι συ, εγώ σήμερον σε εγέννησα·
So also Christ did not glorify himself to be made an high-priest; but He that said unto Him, "Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee."
As He saith also in another place, "Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec." (aiōn g165)
7 Όστις εν ταις ημέραις της σαρκός αυτού, αφού μετά κραυγής δυνατής και δακρύων προσέφερε δεήσεις και ικεσίας προς τον δυνάμενον να σώζη αυτόν εκ του θανάτου, και εισηκούσθη διά την ευλάβειαν αυτού,
Who in the days of his flesh, offered prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears, to Him that was able to save Him from death, and was heard in what He feared;
8 καίτοι ων Υιός, έμαθε την υπακοήν αφ' όσων έπαθε,
but though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered: and being thus perfected,
9 και γενόμενος τέλειος, κατεστάθη αίτιος σωτηρίας αιωνίου εις πάντας τους υπακούοντας εις αυτόν, (aiōnios g166)
He became the author of eternal salvation to all that obey Him: (aiōnios g166)
10 ονομασθείς υπό του Θεού αρχιερεύς κατά την τάξιν Μελχισεδέκ·
having been declared by God an high-priest after the order of Melchisedec.
11 Περί του οποίου πολλά έχομεν να είπωμεν και δυσερμήνευτα, διότι εγείνετε νωθροί τας ακοάς.
Concerning whom we have much to say and difficult to be explained, since ye are become dull of hearing.
12 Επειδή ενώ ως προς τον καιρόν έπρεπε να ήσθε διδάσκαλοι, πάλιν έχετε χρείαν του να σας διδάσκη τις τα αρχικά στοιχεία των λόγων του Θεού, και κατηντήσατε να έχητε χρείαν γάλακτος και ουχί στερεάς τροφής.
For whereas ye ought for the time to be teachers of others, ye have need again of some one to teach you the first rudiments of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk and not of solid food.
13 Διότι πας ο μετέχων γάλακτος είναι άπειρος του λόγου της δικαιοσύνης· επειδή είναι νήπιος·
For every one that wanteth milk, is unacquainted with the doctrine of justification; for he is an infant:
14 των τελείων όμως είναι η στερεά τροφή, οίτινες διά την έξιν έχουσι τα αισθητήρια γεγυμνασμένα εις το να διακρίνωσι το καλόν και το κακόν.
but firm food is for persons come to age, who by habit have their senses exercised to a discernment both of good and evil.
