Προς Γαλατας 5

1 Εν τη ελευθερία λοιπόν, με την οποίαν ηλευθέρωσεν ημάς ο Χριστός, μένετε σταθεροί, και μη υποβληθήτε πάλιν εις ζυγόν δουλείας.

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again in the yoke of bondage.

2 Ιδού, εγώ ο Παύλος σας λέγω ότι εάν περιτέμνησθε, ο Χριστός δεν θέλει σας ωφελήσει ουδέν.

Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing.

3 Μαρτύρομαι δε πάλιν προς πάντα άνθρωπον περιτεμνόμενον, ότι είναι χρεώστης να εκτελή όλον τον νόμον.

And I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to the whole law.

4 Απεχωρίσθητε από του Χριστού όσοι δικαιόνεσθε διά του νόμου, εξεπέσατε από της χάριτος·

Christ is become nothing to you, whosoever of you are seeking to be justified by the law: ye are fallen from the grace of the gospel.

5 διότι ημείς διά του Πνεύματος προσδοκώμεν εκ πίστεως την ελπίδα της δικαιώσεως.

For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

6 Διότι εν Χριστώ Ιησού ούτε περιτομή έχει ισχύν τινά, ούτε ακροβυστία, αλλά πίστις δι' αγάπης ενεργουμένη.

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but faith which worketh by love.

7 Ετρέχετε καλώς· τις σας ημπόδισεν ώστε να μη πείθησθε εις την αλήθειαν;

Ye did run well: who hindered you from obeying the truth?

8 Η κατάπεισις αύτη δεν είναι εξ εκείνου, όστις σας καλεί.

This persuasion came not from him that called you: but a little leaven leaveneth the whole mass.

9 Ολίγη ζύμη καθιστά όλον το φύραμα ένζυμον.

I have confidence in you however through the Lord,

10 Εγώ έχω πεποίθησιν εις εσάς διά του Κυρίου ότι δεν θέλετε φρονήσει ουδέν άλλο· όστις όμως σας ταράττει, αυτός θέλει υποφέρει την ποινήν, οποίος και αν ήναι.

that ye will not think otherwise: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgement, whosoever he be.

11 Εγώ δε, αδελφοί, εάν ακόμη κηρύττω περιτομήν, διά τι πλέον κατατρέχομαι; άρα κατηργήθη το σκάνδαλον του σταυρού.

And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted by the Jews? for then the offence of the cross is ceased.

12 Είθε να αποκοπώσιν οι ταράττοντές σας.

I wish they were even cut off from your communion, that make such disturbance amongst you.

13 Διότι σεις, αδελφοί, προσεκλήθητε εις ελευθερίαν· μόνον μη μεταχειρίζεσθε την ελευθερίαν εις αφορμήν της σαρκός, αλλά διά της αγάπης δουλεύετε αλλήλους.

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only abuse not this liberty for an occasion to indulge the flesh, but by mutual love serve one another.

14 Διότι όλος ο νόμος εις ένα λόγον συμπληρούται, εις τον, Θέλεις αγαπά τον πλησίον σου ως σεαυτόν.

For all the law is fulfilled in one precept, even in this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

15 Εάν όμως δάκνητε και κατατρώγητε αλλήλους, προσέχετε μη υπ' αλλήλων αφανισθήτε.

But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not destroyed by one another.

16 Λέγω λοιπόν, Περιπατείτε κατά το Πνεύμα και δεν θέλετε εκπληροί την επιθυμίαν της σαρκός.

I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye will not fulfil the desire of the flesh:

17 Διότι η σαρξ επιθυμεί εναντία του Πνεύματος, το δε Πνεύμα εναντία της σαρκός· ταύτα δε αντίκεινται προς άλληλα, ώστε εκείνα, τα οποία θέλετε, να μη πράττητε.

for the flesh desireth things contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit things contrary to the flesh: and these are opposite to each other; so that ye do not those things which ye would.

18 Αλλ' εάν οδηγήσθε υπό του Πνεύματος, δεν είσθε υπό νόμον.

But if ye be led by the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

19 Φανερά δε είναι τα έργα της σαρκός, τα οποία είναι μοιχεία, πορνεία, ακαθαρσία, ασέλγεια,

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, such as, adultery, fornication, uncleanness,

20 ειδωλολατρεία, φαρμακεία, έχθραι, έριδες, ζηλοτυπίαι, θυμοί, μάχαι, διχοστασίαι, αιρέσεις,

lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, enmities, strifes, emulations, animosities, contentions, divisions,

21 φθόνοι, φόνοι, μέθαι, κώμοι, και τα όμοια τούτων, περί των οποίων σας προλέγω, καθώς και προείπον, ότι οι τα τοιαύτα πράττοντες βασιλείαν Θεού δεν θέλουσι κληρονομήσει.

heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and the like: of which I forewarn you, as I have also told you before, that they who practise such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 Ο δε καρπός του Πνεύματος είναι αγάπη, χαρά, ειρήνη, μακροθυμία, χρηστότης, αγαθωσύνη, πίστις,

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering,

23 πραότης, εγκράτεια· κατά των τοιούτων δεν υπάρχει νόμος.

gentleness, goodness, fidelity, meekness, temperance: against such things there is no law.

24 Όσοι δε είναι του Χριστού εσταύρωσαν την σάρκα ομού με τα πάθη και τας επιθυμίας.

And they, that are Christ's, have crucified the flesh with it's passions and desires.

25 Εάν ζώμεν κατά το Πνεύμα, ας περιπατώμεν και κατά το Πνεύμα.

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

26 Μη γινώμεθα κενόδοξοι, αλλήλους ερεθίζοντες, αλλήλους φθονούντες.

Let us not be vain-glorious, provoking one another, envying one another.
