Ἔσδρας Αʹ 7
1 Μετά δε τα πράγματα ταύτα, επί της βασιλείας Αρταξέρξου βασιλέως της Περσίας, Έσδρας ο υιός του Σεραΐου, υιού του Αζαρία, υιού του Χελκία,
Now after these things, in the reigne of Artahshashte King of Persia, was Ezra the sonne of Seraiah, the sonne of Azariah, the sonne of Hilkiah,
2 υιού του Σαλλούμ, υιού του Σαδώκ, υιού του Αχιτώβ,
The sonne of Shallum, the sonne of Zadok, the sonne of Ahitub,
3 υιού του Αμαρία, υιού του Αζαρία, υιού του Μεραϊώθ,
The sonne of Amariah, the sonne of Azariah, the sonne of Meraioth,
4 υιού του Ζεραΐα, υιού του Οζί, υιού του Βουκκί,
The sonne of Zeraiah, the sonne of Vzzi, the sonne of Bukki,
5 υιού του Αβισσουά, υιού του Φινεές, υιού του Ελεάζαρ, υιού του Ααρών του ιερέως του πρώτου,
The sonne of Abishua, the sonne of Phinehas, the sonne of Eleazar, the sonne of Aaron, the chiefe Priest.
6 ούτος ο Έσδρας ανέβη από της Βαβυλώνος, ων γραμματεύς έμπειρος εις τον νόμον του Μωϋσέως, τον οποίον έδωκε Κύριος ο Θεός του Ισραήλ· και ο βασιλεύς εχάρισεν εις αυτόν πάντα τα αιτήματα αυτού, κατά την επ' αυτόν χείρα Κυρίου του Θεού αυτού.
This Ezra came vp from Babel, and was a Scribe prompt in the Lawe of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel had giuen, and the King gaue him all his request according to the hande of the Lord his God which was vpon him.
7 Ανέβησαν και τινές εκ των υιών Ισραήλ και εκ των ιερέων, και οι Λευΐται, και οι ψαλτωδοί και οι πυλωροί και οι Νεθινείμ, εις Ιερουσαλήμ, εν τω εβδόμω έτει Αρταξέρξου του βασιλέως.
And there went vp certaine of the children of Israel, and of the Priests, and the Leuites, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims vnto Ierusalem, in the seuenth yere of King Artahshashte.
8 Και ήλθον εις Ιερουσαλήμ τον πέμπτον μήνα του εβδόμου έτους του βασιλέως.
And hee came to Ierusalem in the fift moneth, which was in the seuenth yeere of the King.
9 Διότι την πρώτην του πρώτον μηνός ήρχισεν ούτος να αναβαίνη από της Βαβυλώνος, και την πρώτην του πέμπτου μηνός ήλθεν εις Ιερουσαλήμ, κατά την επ' αυτόν αγαθήν χείρα του Θεού αυτού.
For vpon the first day of the first moneth began he to goe vp from Babel, and on the first day of the fift moneth came he to Ierusalem, according to the good hande of his God that was vpon him.
10 Επειδή ο Έσδρας είχεν ετοιμάσει την καρδίαν αυτού εις το να εκζητή τον νόμον του Κυρίου, και να εκτελή και να διδάσκη εις τον Ισραήλ διατάγματα και κρίσεις.
For Ezra had prepared his heart to seeke the Lawe of the Lord, and to doe it, and to teach the precepts and iudgements in Israel.
11 Τούτο δε είναι το αντίγραφον της επιστολής, την οποίαν ο βασιλεύς Αρταξέρξης έδωκεν εις τον Έσδραν τον ιερέα, τον γραμματέα, γραμματέα των λόγων των εντολών του Κυρίου και των διαταγμάτων αυτού προς τον Ισραήλ·
And this is the copie of the letter that King Artahshashte gaue vnto Ezra the Priest and scribe, euen a writer of the words of the commadements of ye Lord, and of his statutes ouer Israel.
12 Αρταξέρξης, βασιλεύς των βασιλέων, προς Έσδραν τον ιερέα, τον γραμματέα του νόμου του Θεού του ουρανού, τον τέλειον, και τα λοιπά.
ARTAHSHASHTE King of Kings to Ezra the Priest and perfite scribe of the Lawe of the God of heauen, and to Cheeneth.
13 Εξεδόθη παρ' εμού διαταγή, ώστε πάντες οι εκ του λαού του Ισραήλ και των ιερέων αυτού και των Λευϊτών, οι εν τω βασιλείω μου, όσοι θέλουσιν αυτοπροαιρέτως να αναβώσιν εις Ιερουσαλήμ, να έλθωσι μετά σου.
I haue giuen commandement, that euery one, that is willing in my kingdome of the people of Israel, and of the Priestes, and Leuites to goe to Ierusalem with thee, shall goe.
14 Διότι πέμπεσαι παρά του βασιλέως και των επτά συμβούλων αυτού, διά να επισκεφθής την Ιουδαίαν και Ιερουσαλήμ, κατά τον εν τη χειρί σου νόμον του Θεού σου·
Therefore art thou sent of the King and his seuen counsellers, to enquire in Iudah and Ierusalem, according to the lawe of thy God, which is in thine hand,
15 και να φέρης το αργύριον και το χρυσίον, το οποίον ο βασιλεύς και οι σύμβουλοι αυτού προσέφεραν αυτοπροαιρέτως εις τον Θεόν του Ισραήλ, του οποίου το κατοικητήριον είναι εν Ιερουσαλήμ,
And to carry the siluer and the gold, which the King and his cousellers willingly offer vnto the God of Israel (whose habitation is in Ierusalem)
16 και άπαν το αργύριον και χρυσίον όσον συνάξης καθ' όλην την επαρχίαν της Βαβυλώνος, μετά των προαιρετικών προσφορών του λαού και των ιερέων, των προσφερόντων αυτοπροαιρέτως διά τον εν Ιερουσαλήμ οίκον του Θεού αυτών·
And all the siluer and gold that thou canst finde in all the prouince of Babel, with the free offring of the people, and that which the Priestes offer willingly to the house of their God which is in Ierusalem,
17 διά ν' αγοράσης ταχέως διά του αργυρίου τούτου μόσχους, κριούς, αρνία, τας εξ αλφίτων προσφοράς αυτών και τας σπονδάς αυτών, και να προσφέρης αυτά επί το θυσιαστήριον του οίκου του Θεού σας, το εν Ιερουσαλήμ.
That thou mayest bye speedily with this siluer, bullocks, rammes, lambes, with their meate offrings and their drinke offrings: and thou shalt offer them vpon the altar of the house of your God, which is in Ierusalem.
18 Και παν ό, τι φανή αρεστόν εις σε και εις τους αδελφούς σου να κάμητε διά του υπολοίπου αργυρίου και χρυσίου, τούτο κάμετε, κατά το θέλημα του Θεού σας.
And whatsoeuer it pleaseth thee and thy brethren to do with the rest of the siluer, and gold, doe ye it according to the will of your God.
19 Και τα σκεύη, τα δοθέντα εις σε διά την υπηρεσίαν του οίκου του Θεού σου, παράδος ενώπιον του Θεού της Ιερουσαλήμ.
And the vessels that are giuen thee for the seruice of the house of thy God, those deliuer thou before God in Ierusalem.
20 Και ό, τι περιπλέον χρειασθή διά τον οίκον του Θεού σου, ό,τι συμβή να εξοδεύσης, εξόδευε εκ του βασιλικού θησαυροφυλακίου.
And the residue that shall be needeful for the house of thy God, which shall be meete for thee to bestowe, thou shalt bestowe it out of the Kings treasure house,
21 Και παρ' εμού, εμού του Αρταξέρξου βασιλέως, εξεδόθη διαταγή εις πάντας τους θησαυροφύλακας τους πέραν του ποταμού, παν ό, τι ζητήση παρ' υμών ο Έσδρας ο ιερεύς, ο γραμματεύς του νόμου του Θεού του ουρανού, να γίνηται πάραυτα,
And I King Artahshashte haue giuen commandemet to all the treasurers which are beyond the Riuer, that whatsoeuer Ezra the Priest and Scribe of the Law of the God of heauen shall require of you, that it be done incontinently,
22 έως εκατόν ταλάντων αργυρίου, και έως εκατόν κόρων σίτου, και έως εκατόν βαθ οίνου, και έως εκατόν βαθ ελαίου, και άλας απροσδιόριστον,
Vnto an hundreth talents of siluer, vnto an hundreth measures of wheate, and vnto an hundreth baths of wine, and vnto an hundreth baths of oyle, and salt without writing.
23 Παν ό, τι είναι προστεταγμένον παρά του Θεού του ουρανού, ας γείνη μετά σπουδής διά τον οίκον του Θεού του ουρανού· διά να μη έλθη οργή επί την βασιλείαν του βασιλέως και των υιών αυτού.
Whatsoeuer is by the commandement of the God of heauen, let it be done speedily for the house of the God of heauen: for why should he be wroth against the realme of the King, and his children?
24 Έτι γνωστοποιείται εις εσάς, ότι εις ουδένα εκ των ιερέων και Λευϊτών, ψαλτωδών, θυρωρών, Νεθινείμ και υπηρετών τούτου του οίκου του Θεού, δεν θέλει είσθαι νόμιμον να επιβληθή φόρος, τελώνιον ή διαγώγιον επ' αυτούς.
And we certifie you, that vpon any of the Priestes, Leuites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or Ministers in this house of God, there shall no gouernour laye vpon them tolle, tribute nor custome.
25 Και συ, Έσδρα, κατά την εν σοι του Θεού σου σοφίαν, κατάστησον κριτάς και δικαστάς, διά να κρίνωσι πάντα τον λαόν τον πέραν του ποταμού, πάντας τους ειδότας τους νόμους του Θεού σου· και διδάσκετε τους μη ειδότας.
And thou Ezra (after the wisedome of thy God, that is in thine hand) set iudges and arbiters, which may iudge all the people that is beyond the Riuer, euen all that knowe the Lawe of thy God, and teach ye them that know it not.
26 Και πας όστις δεν κάμνει τον νόμον του Θεού σου και τον νόμον του βασιλέως, ας εκτελήται ταχέως κρίσις επ' αυτόν, είτε εις θάνατον, είτε εις εξορίαν, ή εις δήμευσιν υπαρχόντων, ή εις φυλακήν.
And whosoeuer will not doe the Lawe of thy God, and the Kings lawe, let him haue iudgement without delay, whether it be vnto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment.
27 Ευλογητός Κύριος ο Θεός των πατέρων ημών, όστις έδωκε τοιαύτα εις την καρδίαν του βασιλέως, διά να δοξάση τον οίκον του Κυρίου, τον εν Ιερουσαλήμ·
Blessed be the Lord God of our fathers, which so hath put in the Kings heart, to beautifie the house of the Lord that is in Ierusalem,
28 και έκαμε να εύρω έλεος ενώπιον του βασιλέως και των συμβούλων αυτού και πάντων των αρχόντων του βασιλέως των δυνατών. Και εγώ ενισχύθην κατά την επ' εμέ χείρα Κυρίου του Θεού μου, και συνήγαγον εκ του Ισραήλ άρχοντας διά να συναναβώσι μετ' εμού.
And hath enclined mercy toward me, before the King and his counsellers, and before all the Kings mightie Princes: and I was comforted by the hand of the Lord my God which was vpon me, and I gathered the chiefe of Israel to goe vp with me.
