Ἰεζεκιήλ 33

1 Και έγεινε λόγος Κυρίου προς εμέ, λέγων,

Again, the woorde of the Lord came vnto me, saying,

2 Υιέ ανθρώπου, λάλησον προς τους υιούς του λαού σου και ειπέ προς αυτούς· Όταν επιφέρω την ρομφαίαν επί γην τινά και ο λαός της γης λάβη άνθρωπον τινά εκ μέσου αυτού και θέσωσιν αυτόν φύλακα εις εαυτούς,

Sonne of man, speake to the children of thy people, and say vnto them, When I bring the sworde vpon a lande, if the people of the lande take a man from among them, and make him their watchman,

3 και αυτός, ιδών την ρομφαίαν επερχομένην επί την γην, σαλπίση εν σάλπιγγι και σημάνη εις τον λαόν,

If when hee seeth the sworde come vpon ye land, he blow the trumpet, and warne the people,

4 τότε όστις ακούση την φωνήν της σάλπιγγος και δεν φυλαχθή, εάν η ρομφαία ελθούσα καταλάβη αυτόν, το αίμα αυτού θέλει είσθαι επί την κεφαλήν αυτού.

Then hee that heareth the sounde of the trumpet, and will not bee warned, if the sworde come, and take him away, his blood shall be vpon his owne head.

5 Ήκουσε την φωνήν της σάλπιγγος και δεν εφυλάχθη· το αίμα αυτού θέλει είσθαι επ' αυτόν. Όστις όμως φυλαχθή, θέλει διασώσει την ζωήν αυτού.

For he heard the sound of the trumpet, and woulde not bee admonished: therefore his blood shall be vpon him: but he that receiueth warning, shall saue his life.

6 Αλλ' εάν ο φύλαξ, ιδών την ρομφαίαν επερχομένην, δεν σαλπίση εν τη σάλπιγγι και ο λαός δεν φυλαχθή, η δε ρομφαία ελθούσα καταλάβη τινά εξ αυτών, ούτος μεν κατελήφθη διά την ανομίαν αυτού, πλην το αίμα αυτού θέλω εκζητήσει εκ της χειρός του φύλακος.

But if the watchman see the sworde come, and blowe not the trumpet, and the people be not warned: if the sworde come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away for his iniquitie, but his blood will I require at the watchmans hande.

7 Και συ, υιέ ανθρώπου, εγώ σε έθεσα φύλακα επί τον οίκον Ισραήλ· άκουσον λοιπόν λόγον εκ του στόματός μου και νουθέτησον αυτούς παρ' εμού·

So thou, O sonne of man, I haue made thee a watchman vnto the house of Israel: therefore thou shalt heare the woorde at my mouth, and admonish them from me.

8 Όταν λέγω εις τον άνομον, Άνομε, θέλεις εξάπαντος θανατωθή· και συ δεν λαλήσης διά να αποτρέψης τον άνομον από της οδού αυτού, εκείνος μεν ο άνομος θέλει αποθάνει εν τη ανομία αυτού, πλην εκ της χειρός σου θέλω εκζητήσει το αίμα αυτού.

When I shall say vnto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt die the death, if thou doest not speake, and admonish the wicked of his way, that wicked man shall die for his iniquitie, but his blood will I require at thine hand.

9 Αλλ' εάν συ αποτρέπης τον άνομον από της οδού αυτού διά να επιστρέψη απ' αυτής, και δεν επιστρέψη από της οδού αυτού, εκείνος μεν θέλει αποθάνει εν τη ανομία αυτού, συ δε ηλευθέρωσας την ψυχήν σου.

Neuerthelesse, If thou warne the wicked of his way, to turne from it, if he doe not turne from his way, he shall die for his iniquitie, but thou hast deliuered thy soule.

10 Διά τούτο, συ, υιέ ανθρώπου, ειπέ προς τον οίκον Ισραήλ· Ούτω σεις ελαλήσατε, λέγοντες, Εάν αι παραβάσεις ημών και αι αμαρτίαι ημών ήναι εφ' ημάς, και ημείς είμεθα απωλεσμένοι δι' αυτάς, πως θέλομεν ζήσει;

Therefore, O thou sonne of man, speake vnto the house of Israel, Thus yee speake and say, If our transgressions and our sinnes bee vpon vs, and we are consumed because of them, howe should we then liue?

11 Ειπέ προς αυτούς· Ζω εγώ, λέγει Κύριος ο Θεός, δεν θέλω τον θάνατον του αμαρτωλού, αλλά να επιστρέψη ο ασεβής από της οδού αυτού και να ζή· επιστρέψατε, επιστρέψατε από των οδών υμών των πονηρών· διά τι να αποθάνητε, οίκος Ισραήλ;

Say vnto them, As I liue, sayeth the Lord God, I desire not the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turne from his way and liue: turne you, turne you from your euill waies, for why will ye die, O ye house of Israel?

12 Διά τούτο συ, υιέ ανθρώπου, ειπέ προς τους υιούς του λαού σου, Η δικαιοσύνη του δικαίου δεν θέλει ελευθερώσει αυτόν εν τη ημέρα της παραβάσεως αυτού, και ο ασεβής δεν θέλει πέσει διά την ασέβειαν αυτού, καθ' ην ημέραν επιστρέψη από της ασεβείας αυτού, και ο δίκαιος δεν θέλει δυνηθή να ζήση διά την δικαιοσύνην αυτού, καθ' ην ημέραν αμαρτήση.

Therefore thou sonne of man, saye vnto the children of thy people, The righteousnesse of the righteous shall not deliuer him in the day of his transgression, nor the wickednesse of the wicked shall cause him to fall therein, in the day that he returneth from his wickednesse, neither shall the righteous liue for his righteousnesse in the day that he sinneth.

13 Όταν είπω προς τον δίκαιον ότι θέλει εξάπαντος ζήσει, και αυτός θαρρών εις την δικαιοσύνην αυτού πράξη αδικίαν, άπασα η δικαιοσύνη αυτού δεν θέλει μνημονευθή· και εν τη αδικία αυτού την οποίαν έπραξεν, εν αυτή θέλει αποθάνει.

When I shall say vnto the righteous, that he shall surely liue, if he trust to his owne righteousnes, and commit iniquitie, all his righteousnes shall be no more remembred, but for his iniquitie that he hath committed, he shall die for the same.

14 Και όταν λέγω προς τον ασεβή, Εξάπαντος θέλεις αποθάνει, ο δε επιστρέψας από της αμαρτίας αυτού πράξη κρίσιν και δικαιοσύνην,

Againe when I shall say vnto the wicked, thou shalt die the death, if he turne from his sinne, and doe that which is lawfull and right,

15 αποδώση το ενέχυρον ο ασεβής, επιστρέψη το ηρπαγμένον, περιπατή εν τοις διατάγμασι της ζωής μη πράττων αδικίαν, θέλει εξάπαντος ζήσει, δεν θέλει αποθάνει·

To wit, if the wicked restore the pledge, and giue againe that he had robbed, and walke in the statutes of life, without committing iniquitie, he shall surely liue, and not die.

16 πάσαι αι αμαρτίαι αυτού, τας οποίας ημάρτησε, δεν θέλουσι πλέον μνημονευθή εις αυτόν· έκαμε κρίσιν και δικαιοσύνην· θέλει εξάπαντος ζήσει.

None of his sinnes that he hath comitted, shall be mentioned vnto him: because he hath done that, which is lawful, and right, he shall surely liue.

17 Οι υιοί όμως του λαού σου λέγουσιν, Η οδός του Κυρίου δεν είναι ευθεία. Αλλά τούτων αυτών η οδός δεν είναι ευθεία.

Yet the children of thy people say, The way of the Lord is not equall: but their owne way is vnequall.

18 Όταν ο δίκαιος επιστρέψη από της δικαιοσύνης αυτού και πράξη αδικίαν, διά τούτο μάλιστα θέλει αποθάνει.

When the righteous turneth from his righteousnesse, and committeth iniquitie, he shall euen die thereby.

19 Και όταν ο άνομος επιστρέψη από της ανομίας αυτού και πράξη κρίσιν και δικαιοσύνην, αυτός θέλει ζήσει διά τούτο.

But if the wicked returne from his wickednesse, and doe that which is lawfull and right, hee shall liue thereby.

20 Σεις όμως λέγετε, Η οδός του Κυρίου δεν είναι ευθεία· οίκος Ισραήλ, θέλω σας κρίνει έκαστον κατά τας οδούς αυτού.

Yet yee say, The way of the Lord is not equall. O ye house of Israel, I will iudge you euery one after his waies.

21 Και εν τω δωδεκάτω έτει της αιχμαλωσίας ημών, τω δεκάτω μηνί, τη πέμπτη του μηνός, ήλθε προς εμέ διασεσωσμένος τις εξ Ιερουσαλήμ, λέγων, Ηλώθη η πόλις.

Also in the twelfth yere of our captiuitie, in the tenth moneth, and in the fift day of the moneth, one that had escaped out of Ierusalem, came vnto me, and said, The citie is smitten.

22 Και η χειρ του Κυρίου εστάθη επ' εμέ το εσπέρας πριν έλθη ο διασεσωσμένος, και ήνοιξε το στόμα μου εωσού ήλθε προς εμέ το πρωΐ· και ανοιχθέντος του στόματός μου δεν εσιώπησα πλέον.

Now the hand of the Lord had bene vpon me in ye euening afore hee that had escaped, came, and had opened my mouth vntill he came to me in the morning: and when hee had opened my mouth, I was no more dumme.

23 Και έγεινε λόγος Κυρίου προς εμέ, λέγων,

Againe the worde of the Lord came vnto me, and saide,

24 Υιέ ανθρώπου, οι κατοικούντες εκείνας τας ερημώσεις εν τη γη Ισραήλ λαλούσι, λέγοντες, Εις ήτο ο Αβραάμ και εκληρονόμησε την γήν· ημείς δε είμεθα πολλοί· εις ημάς εδόθη η γη διά κληρονομίαν.

Sonne of man, these that dwel in the desolate places of the land of Israel, talke and say, Abraham was but one, and hee possessed the lande: but we are many, therefore the lande shall be giuen vs in possession.

25 Διά τούτο ειπέ προς αυτούς, Ούτω λέγει Κύριος ο Θεός· σεις τρώγετε κρέας εν αίματι και σηκόνετε τους οφθαλμούς σας προς τα είδωλά σας και χύνετε αίμα, και θέλετε κληρονομήσει την γην;

Wherefore say vnto them, Thus saieth the Lord God, Ye eate with the blood, and lift vp your eyes towarde your idoles, and sheade blood: should ye then possesse the land?

26 Σεις στηρίζεσθε επί την ρομφαίαν σας, εργάζεσθε βδελύγματα και μιαίνετε έκαστος την γυναίκα του πλησίον αυτού, και θέλετε κληρονομήσει την γην;

Ye leane vpon your swordes: ye worke abomination, and yee defile euery one his neighbours wife: should ye then possesse the land?

27 Ειπέ ούτω προς αυτούς· Ούτω λέγει Κύριος ο Θεός· Ζω εγώ, οι εν ταις ερημώσεσι θέλουσιν εξάπαντος πέσει εν μαχαίρα, και τον επί το πρόσωπον της πεδιάδος, θέλω παραδώσει αυτόν εις τα θηρία διά να καταφάγωσιν αυτόν, οι δε εν τοις φρουρίοις και εν τοις σπηλαίοις θέλουσιν αποθάνει υπό θανατικού.

Say thus vnto them, Thus saieth the Lord God, As I liue, so surely they that are in the desolate places, shall fall by the sword: and him that is in the open field, will I giue vnto the beasts to be deuoured: and they that be in the forts and in the caues, shall die of the pestilence.

28 Διότι θέλω παραδώσει εις όλεθρον και ερήμωσιν την γην, και η έπαρσις της δυνάμεως αυτής θέλει καταβληθή, και τα όρη του Ισραήλ θέλουσιν ερημωθή, ώστε να μη υπάρχη ο διαβαίνων.

For I will lay the land desolate and waste, and the pompe of her strength shall cease: and the moutaines of Israel shalbe desolate, and none shall passe through.

29 Και θέλουσι γνωρίσει ότι εγώ είμαι ο Κύριος, όταν παραδώσω εις όλεθρον και ερήμωσιν την γην, διά πάντα τα βδελύγματα αυτών τα οποία έπραξαν.

Then shall they know that I am the Lord, when I haue laid ye land desolate and wast, because of al their abominations, that they haue committed.

30 Και συ, υιέ ανθρώπου, οι υιοί του λαού σου λαλούσιν εναντίον σου παρά τα τείχη και εν ταις θύραις των οικιών, και λαλούσι προς αλλήλους, έκαστος προς τον αδελφόν αυτού, λέγοντες, Έλθετε λοιπόν και ακούσατε τις ο λόγος ο εξερχόμενος παρά Κυρίου.

Also thou sonne of man, the children of thy people that talke of thee by the wals and in the dores of houses, and speake one to another, euery one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and heare what is the word that commeth from the Lord.

31 Και έρχονται προς σε, καθώς συνάγεται ο λαός, και κάθηται έμπροσθέν σου ο λαός μου και ακούουσι τους λόγους σου, αλλά δεν κάμνουσιν αυτούς· διότι εν τω στόματι αυτών δεικνύουσι πολλήν αγάπην, η καρδία όμως αυτών υπάγει κατόπιν της αισχροκερδείας αυτών.

For they come vnto thee, as the people vseth to come: and my people sit before thee, and heare thy wordes, but they will not doe them: for with their mouthes they make iestes, and their heart goeth after their couetousnesse.

32 Και ιδού, συ είσαι προς αυτούς ως ερωτικόν άσμα ανθρώπου ηδυφώνου και παίζοντος όργανα καλώς, διότι ακούουσι τους λόγους σου αλλά δεν κάμνουσιν αυτούς.

And loe, thou art vnto them, as a iesting song of one that hath a pleasant voyce, and can sing well: for they heare thy woordes, but they doe them not.

33 Πλην όταν έλθη τούτο, και ιδού, έρχεται, τότε θέλουσι γνωρίσει ότι εστάθη προφήτης εν μέσω αυτών.

And when this commeth to passe (for loe, it will come) then shall they know, that a Prophet hath bene among them.
