Ἔξοδος 16
1 Εσηκώθησαν δε από Αιλείμ· και ήλθον πάσα η συναγωγή των υιών Ισραήλ εις την έρημον Σιν, την μεταξύ Αιλείμ και Σινά, την δεκάτην πέμπτην ημέραν του δευτέρου μηνός αφού εξήλθον εκ γης Αιγύπτου.
And they journey from Elim, and all the congregation of the sons of Israel come to the wilderness of Sin, which [is] between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month of their going out from the land of Egypt.
2 Και εγόγγυζε πάσα η συναγωγή των υιών Ισραήλ κατά του Μωϋσέως και κατά του Ααρών εν τη ερήμω.
And all the congregation of the sons of Israel murmur against Moses and against Aaron in the wilderness;
3 Και είπον προς αυτούς οι υιοί Ισραήλ, Είθε να απεθνήσκομεν υπό της χειρός του Κυρίου εν τη γη της Αιγύπτου, ότε εκαθήμεθα πλησίον των λεβήτων του κρέατος και ότε ετρώγομεν άρτον εις χορτασμόν· διότι εξηγάγετε ημάς εις την έρημον ταύτην, διά να θανατώσητε με την πείναν πάσαν την συναγωγήν ταύτην.
and the sons of Israel say to them, “Oh that we had died by the hand of YHWH in the land of Egypt, in our sitting by the flesh-pot, in our eating bread to satiety—for you have brought us out to this wilderness to put all this assembly to death with hunger.”
4 Και είπε Κύριος προς τον Μωϋσήν, Ιδού, θέλω βρέξει εις εσάς άρτον εξ ουρανού· και θέλει εξέρχεσθαι ο λαός και συνάγει καθ' ημέραν το αρκούν της ημέρας, διά να δοκιμάσω αυτούς, αν θέλωσι περιπατεί εις τον νόμον μου ή ουχί·
And YHWH says to Moses, “Behold, I am raining bread from the heavens for you—and the people have gone out and gathered the matter of a day in its day—so that I try them whether they walk in My law or not;
5 την δε έκτην ημέραν ας ετοιμάζωσιν εκείνο το οποίον ήθελον εισαγάγει, και ας ήναι διπλάσιον του όσον συνάγουσι καθ' ημέραν.
and it has been on the sixth day, that they have prepared that which they bring in, and it has been double above that which they gather day [by] day.”
6 Και είπον ο Μωϋσής και ο Ααρών προς πάντας τους υιούς Ισραήλ, Το εσπέρας θέλετε γνωρίσει ότι ο Κύριος εξήγαγεν υμάς εκ γης Αιγύπτου·
And Moses says—Aaron also—to all the sons of Israel, “Evening—and you have known that YHWH has brought you out from the land of Egypt;
7 και το πρωΐ θέλετε ιδεί την δόξαν του Κυρίου, διότι ήκουσε τους γογγυσμούς σας εναντίον του Κυρίου· επειδή ημείς τι είμεθα, ώστε να γογγύζητε καθ' ημών;
and morning—and you have seen the glory of YHWH, in His hearing your murmurings against YHWH, and what [are] we, that you murmur against us?”
8 Και είπεν ο Μωϋσής, Τούτο θέλει γείνει, όταν ο Κύριος δώση εις εσάς το εσπέρας κρέας να φάγητε και το πρωΐ άρτον εις χορτασμόν· διότι ήκουσε Κύριος τους γογγυσμούς σας τους οποίους γογγύζετε κατ' αυτού· και τι είμεθα ημείς; οι γογγυσμοί σας δεν είναι καθ' ημών, αλλά κατά του Κυρίου.
And Moses says, “In YHWH’s giving to you flesh to eat in the evening, and bread in the morning to satiety—in YHWH’s hearing your murmurings, which you are murmuring against Him, and what [are] we? Your murmurings [are] not against us, but against YHWH.”
9 Και είπεν ο Μωϋσής προς τον Ααρών, Ειπέ προς πάσαν την συναγωγήν των υιών Ισραήλ, Πλησιάσατε έμπροσθεν του Κυρίου· διότι ήκουσε τους γογγυσμούς σας.
And Moses says to Aaron, “Say to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, Come near before YHWH, for He has heard your murmurings”;
10 Και ενώ ελάλει ο Ααρών προς πάσαν την συναγωγήν των υιών Ισραήλ, έστρεψαν το πρόσωπον προς την έρημον, και ιδού, η δόξα του Κυρίου εφάνη εν τη νεφέλη.
and it comes to pass, when Aaron is speaking to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, that they turn toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of YHWH is seen in the cloud.
11 Και ελάλησε Κύριος προς τον Μωϋσήν, λέγων,
And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
12 Ήκουσα τους γογγυσμούς των υιών Ισραήλ· λάλησον προς αυτούς, λέγων, Το εσπέρας θέλετε φάγει κρέας, και το πρωΐ θέλετε χορτασθή από άρτου, και θέλετε γνωρίσει ότι εγώ είμαι Κύριος ο Θεός σας.
“I have heard the murmurings of the sons of Israel; speak to them, saying, Between the evenings you eat flesh, and in the morning you are satisfied [with] bread, and you have known that I [am] your God YHWH.”
13 Και το εσπέρας ανέβησαν ορτύκια και εσκέπασαν το στρατόπεδον· και το πρωΐ καθ' όλα τα πέριξ του στρατοπέδου ήτο στρώμα δρόσου.
And it comes to pass in the evening, that the quail comes up, and covers the camp, and in the morning there has been the lying of dew around the camp,
14 Και αφού το στρώμα της δρόσου ανέβη, ιδού, επί το πρόσωπον της ερήμου ήτο λεπτόν τι στρογγύλον, λεπτόν ως πάχνη επί της γης.
and the lying of the dew goes up, and behold, on the face of the wilderness [is] a thin, bare thing, thin as hoarfrost on the earth.
15 Και ότε είδον οι υιοί Ισραήλ, είπον προς αλλήλους, Τι είναι τούτο; διότι δεν ήξευρον τι ήτο. Και ο Μωϋσής είπε προς αυτούς, Ούτος είναι ο άρτος, τον οποίον ο Κύριος σας δίδει διά να φάγητε·
And the sons of Israel see, and say to one another, “What [is] it?” For they have not known what it [is]; and Moses says to them, “It [is] the bread which YHWH has given to you for food.
16 ούτος είναι ο λόγος τον οποίον προσέταξεν ο Κύριος, Συνάξατε εξ αυτού έκαστος όσον χρειάζεται διά να φάγη, εν γομόρ κατά κεφαλήν, κατά τον αριθμόν των ψυχών σας· λάβετε έκαστος διά τους ομοσκήνους αυτού.
This [is] the thing which YHWH has commanded: Gather of it, each according to his eating, an omer for the counted head; and the number of your persons, take, each, for those in his tent.”
17 Και έκαμον ούτως οι υιοί Ισραήλ, και συνήγαγον άλλος πολύ και άλλος ολίγον.
And the sons of Israel do so, and they gather, he who is [gathering] much, and he who is [gathering] little;
18 Και ότε εμέτρησαν με το γομόρ, όστις είχε συνάξει πολύ, δεν ελάμβανε πλειότερον· και όστις είχε συνάξει ολίγον, δεν ελάμβανεν ολιγώτερον· έκαστος ελάμβανεν όσον εχρειάζετο εις αυτόν διά τροφήν.
and they measure with an omer, and he who is [gathering] much has nothing over, and he who is [gathering] little has no lack, each according to his eating they have gathered.
19 είπε δε προς αυτούς ο Μωϋσής, Ας μη αφίνη εξ αυτού μηδείς υπόλοιπον έως πρωΐ.
And Moses says to them, “Let no man leave of it until morning”;
20 Πλην δεν υπήκουσαν εις τον Μωϋσήν· αλλά αφήκαν τινές υπόλοιπον εξ αυτού έως πρωΐ, και εγέννησε σκώληκας και εβρώμησε· και εθυμώθη εναντίον αυτών ο Μωϋσής.
and they have not listened to Moses, and some of them leave of it until morning, and it brings up worms and stinks; and Moses is angry with them.
21 Και συνήγον αυτό καθ' εκάστην πρωΐαν, έκαστος όσον εχρειάζετο διά τροφήν αυτού· και ότε ο ήλιος εθέρμαινε, διελύετο.
And they gather it morning by morning, each according to his eating; when the sun has been warm, then it has melted.
22 Την δε έκτην ημέραν συνήγαγον τροφήν διπλασίαν, δύο γομόρ δι' ένα· και ήλθον πάντες οι άρχοντες της συναγωγής και ανήγγειλαν τούτο προς τον Μωϋσήν.
And it comes to pass on the sixth day, they have gathered a second bread, two omers for one, and all the princes of the congregation come in, and declare [it] to Moses.
23 Ο δε είπε προς αυτούς, Τούτο είναι το οποίον είπε Κύριος· Αύριον είναι σάββατον, ανάπαυσις αγία εις τον Κύριον· ψήσατε ό, τι έχετε να ψήσητε και βράσατε ό, τι έχετε να βράσητε· και παν το περισσεύον εναποταμιεύσατε εις εαυτούς διά να φυλάττηται έως πρωΐ.
And he says to them, “It [is] that which YHWH has spoken: A rest—a holy Sabbath to YHWH—[is] tomorrow; that which you bake, bake; and that which you boil, boil; and all that is remaining, let [it] rest for yourselves for preservation until the morning.”
24 Και εναπεταμίευσαν αυτό έως πρωΐ, καθώς προσέταξεν ο Μωϋσής· και δεν εβρώμησεν ουδέ έγεινε σκώληξ εν αυτώ.
And they let it rest until the morning, as Moses has commanded, and it has not stunk, and a worm has not been in it.
25 Και είπεν ο Μωϋσής, Φάγετε αυτό σήμερον· διότι σήμερον είναι σάββατον εις τον Κύριον· σήμερον δεν θέλετε ευρεί αυτό εν τη πεδιάδι·
And Moses says, “Eat it today, for today [is] a Sabbath to YHWH; today you do not find it in the field:
26 εξ ημέρας θέλετε συνάγει αυτό· εν τη εβδόμη όμως ημέρα, τω σαββάτω, εν ταύτη δεν θέλει ευρίσκεσθαι.
six days you gather it, and in the seventh day—the Sabbath—there is none in it.”
27 Τινές δε εκ του λαού εξήλθον την εβδόμην ημέραν διά να συνάξωσι, πλην δεν εύρον.
And it comes to pass on the seventh day, some of the people have gone out to gather, and have not found.
28 Και είπε Κύριος προς τον Μωϋσήν, Έως πότε δεν θέλετε να φυλάττητε τας εντολάς μου και τους νόμους μου;
And YHWH says to Moses, “How long have you refused to keep My commands and My laws?
29 ίδετε ότι ο Κύριος έδωκεν εις εσάς το σάββατον, διά τούτο την έκτην ημέραν σας δίδει άρτον δύο ημερών· καθίσατε έκαστος εις τον τόπον αυτού· ας μη εξέρχεται μηδείς εκ του τόπου αυτού την εβδόμην ημέραν.
See, because YHWH has given the Sabbath to you, therefore He is giving to you on the sixth day bread of two days; each abide [in] his place, no one goes out from his place on the seventh day.”
30 Και έκαμε κατάπαυσιν ο λαός την εβδόμην ημέραν.
And the people rest on the seventh day,
31 Και εκάλεσεν ο οίκος του Ισραήλ το όνομα αυτού Μάν· ήτο δε όμοιον με σπόρον κοριάνδρου λευκόν· και η γεύσις αυτού ως πλακούντιον με μέλι.
and the house of Israel calls its name Manna, and it [is] as white coriander seed; and its taste [is] as a cake with honey.
32 Και είπεν ο Μωϋσής, Ούτος είναι ο λόγος τον οποίον προσέταξεν ο Κύριος· Γεμίσατε εξ αυτού εν γομόρ, διά να φυλάττηται εις τας γενεάς σας, διά να βλέπωσι τον άρτον με τον οποίον έθρεψα υμάς εν τη ερήμω, αφού εξήγαγον υμάς εκ γης Αιγύπτου.
And Moses says, “This [is] the thing which YHWH has commanded: Fill the omer with it, for a charge for your generations, so that they see the bread which I have caused you to eat in the wilderness, in My bringing you out from the land of Egypt.”
33 Και είπεν ο Μωϋσής προς τον Ααρών, Λάβε μίαν στάμνον, και βάλε εν αυτή εν γομόρ πλήρες από μάννα, και θες αυτήν έμπροσθεν του Κυρίου, διά να φυλάττηται εις τας γενεάς σας.
And Moses says to Aaron, “Take one pot, and put the fullness of the omer of manna [in] there, and let it rest before YHWH, for a charge for your generations”;
34 Και έθεσεν αυτήν ο Ααρών έμπροσθεν του Μαρτυρίου, διά να φυλάττηται, καθώς προσέταξεν ο Κύριος εις τον Μωϋσήν.
as YHWH has given command to Moses, so Aaron lets it rest before the Testimony, for a charge.
35 Και έτρωγον οι υιοί Ισραήλ το μάννα τεσσαράκοντα έτη, εωσού ήλθον εις γην κατοικουμένην· έτρωγον το μάννα, εωσού ήλθον εις τα όρια της γης Χαναάν.
And the sons of Israel have eaten the manna [for] forty years, until their coming to the land to be inhabited; they have eaten the manna until their coming to the extremity of the land of Canaan.
36 Το δε γομόρ είναι το δέκατον του εφά.
And the omer is a tenth of the ephah.
