Προς Κολοσσαεις 3
1 Εάν λοιπόν συνανέστητε μετά του Χριστού, τα άνω ζητείτε, όπου είναι ο Χριστός καθήμενος εν δεξιά του Θεού,
If however you have risen with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, enthroned at God's right hand.
2 τα άνω φρονείτε, μη τα επί της γης.
Give your minds to the things that are above, not to the things that are on the earth.
3 Διότι απεθάνετε, και η ζωή σας είναι κεκρυμμένη μετά του Χριστού εν τω Θεώ·
For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
4 όταν ο Χριστός, η ζωή ημών, φανερωθή, τότε και σεις μετ' αυτού θέλετε φανερωθή εν δόξη.
When Christ appears--He is our true Life--then you also will appear with Him in glory.
5 Νεκρώσατε λοιπόν τα μέλη σας τα επί της γης, πορνείαν, ακαθαρσίαν, πάθος, επιθυμίαν κακήν και την πλεονεξίαν, ήτις είναι ειδωλολατρεία,
Therefore put to death your earthward inclinations--fornication, impurity, sensual passion, unholy desire, and all greed, for that is a form of idolatry.
6 διά τα οποία έρχεται η οργή του Θεού επί τους υιούς της απειθείας,
It is on account of these very sins that God's anger is coming,
7 εις τα οποία και σεις περιεπατήσατέ ποτέ, ότε εζήτε εν αυτοίς·
and you also were once addicted to them, while you were living under their power.
8 τώρα όμως απορρίψατε και σεις ταύτα πάντα, οργήν, θυμόν, κακίαν, βλασφημίαν, αισχρολογίαν εκ του στόματός σας·
But now you must rid yourselves of every kind of sin--angry and passionate outbreaks, ill-will, evil speaking, foul-mouthed abuse--so that these may never soil your lips.
9 μη ψεύδεσθε εις αλλήλους, αφού απεξεδύθητε τον παλαιόν άνθρωπον μετά των πράξεων αυτού
Do not speak falsehoods to one another, for you have stripped off the old self with its doings,
10 και ενεδύθητε τον νέον, τον ανακαινιζόμενον εις επίγνωσιν κατά την εικόνα του κτίσαντος αυτόν,
and have clothed yourselves with the new self which is being remoulded into full knowledge so as to become like Him who created it.
11 όπου δεν είναι Έλλην και Ιουδαίος, περιτομή και ακροβυστία, βάρβαρος, Σκύθης, δούλος, ελεύθερος, αλλά τα πάντα και εν πάσιν είναι ο Χριστός.
In that new creation there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free man, but Christ is everything and is in all of us.
12 Ενδύθητε λοιπόν, ως εκλεκτοί του Θεού άγιοι και ηγαπημένοι, σπλάγχνα οικτιρμών, χρηστότητα, ταπεινοφροσύνην, πραότητα, μακροθυμίαν,
Clothe yourselves therefore, as God's own people holy and dearly loved, with tender-heartedness, kindness, lowliness of mind, meekness, long-suffering;
13 υποφέροντες αλλήλους και συγχωρούντες εις αλλήλους, εάν τις έχη παράπονον κατά τινος· καθώς και ο Χριστός συνεχώρησεν εις εσάς, ούτω και σείς·
bearing with one another and readily forgiving each other, if any one has a grievance against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, you also must forgive.
14 και εν πάσι τούτοις ενδύθητε την αγάπην, ήτις είναι σύνδεσμος της τελειότητος.
And over all these put on love, which is the perfect bond of union;
15 Και η ειρήνη του Θεού ας βασιλεύη εν ταις καρδίαις υμών, εις την οποίαν και προσεκλήθητε εις εν σώμα· και γίνεσθε ευγνώμονες.
and let the peace which Christ gives settle all questionings in your hearts, to which peace indeed you were called as belonging to His one Body; and be thankful.
16 Ο λόγος του Χριστού ας κατοική εν υμίν πλουσίως μετά πάσης σοφίας· διδάσκοντες και νουθετούντες αλλήλους με ψαλμούς και ύμνους και ωδάς πνευματικάς, εν χάριτι ψάλλοντες εκ της καρδίας υμών προς τον Κύριον.
Let the teaching concerning Christ remain as a rich treasure in your hearts. In all wisdom teach and admonish one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, and sing with grace in your hearts to God.
17 Και παν ό, τι αν πράττητε εν λόγω ή εν έργω, πάντα εν τω ονόματι του Κυρίου Ιησού πράττετε, ευχαριστούντες δι' αυτού τον Θεόν και Πατέρα.
And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, and let it be through Him that you give thanks to God the Father.
18 Αι γυναίκες, υποτάσσεσθε εις τους άνδρας σας, καθώς πρέπει εν Κυρίω.
Married women, be submissive to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
19 Οι άνδρες, αγαπάτε τας γυναίκάς σας και μη ήσθε πικροί προς αυτάς.
Married men, be affectionate to your wives, and do not treat them harshly.
20 Τα τέκνα, υπακούετε εις τους γονείς κατά πάντα· διότι τούτο είναι ευάρεστον εις τον Κύριον.
Children be obedient to your parents in everything; for that is right for Christians.
21 Οι πατέρες, μη ερεθίζετε τα τέκνα σας, διά να μη μικροψυχώσιν.
Fathers, do not fret and harass your children, or you may make them sullen and morose.
22 Οι δούλοι, υπακούετε κατά πάντα εις τους κατά σάρκα κυρίους σας, ουχί με οφθαλμοδουλείας ως ανθρωπάρεσκοι, αλλά με απλότητα καρδίας, φοβούμενοι τον Θεόν.
Slaves, be obedient in everything to your earthly masters; not in acts of eye service, as aiming only to please men, but with simplicity of purpose, because you fear the Lord.
23 Και παν ό, τι αν πράττητε, εκ ψυχής εργάζεσθε, ως εις τον Κύριον και ουχί εις ανθρώπους,
Whatever you are doing, let your hearts be in your work, as a thing done for the Lord and not for men.
24 εξεύροντες ότι από του Κυρίου θέλετε λάβει την ανταπόδοσιν της κληρονομίας· διότι εις τον Κύριον Χριστόν δουλεύετε.
For you know that it is from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. Christ is the Master whose bondservants you are.
25 Όστις όμως αδικεί, θέλει λάβει την αμοιβήν της αδικίας αυτού, και δεν υπάρχει προσωποληψία.
The man who perpetrates a wrong will find the wrong repaid to him; and with God there are no merely earthly distinctions.
