Προς Κολοσσαεις 2
1 Διότι θέλω να εξεύρητε οποίον μέγαν αγώνα έχω διά σας και τους εν Λαοδικεία και τους όσοι δεν είδον το πρόσωπόν μου σωματικώς,
For I wish you to know how great a conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and as many as have not seen my face in the flesh,
2 διά να παρηγορηθώσιν αι καρδίαι αυτών, ενωθέντων ομού εν αγάπη και εις πάντα πλούτον της πληροφορίας της συνέσεως, ώστε να γνωρίσωσι το μυστήριον του Θεού και Πατρός και του Χριστού,
that their hearts may be comforted, being united in love, and to all riches of the full assurance of the understanding, to the full knowledge of the secret of the God and Father, and of the Christ,
3 εν τω οποίω είναι κεκρυμμένοι πάντες οι θησαυροί της σοφίας και της γνώσεως.
in whom are all the treasures of the wisdom and the knowledge hid,
4 Λέγω δε τούτο, διά να μη σας εξαπατά τις με πιθανολογίαν·
and this I say, that no one may deceive you with enticing words,
5 διότι αν και κατά το σώμα ήμαι απών, με το πνεύμα όμως είμαι μεθ' υμών, χαίρων και βλέπων την τάξιν σας και την σταθερότητα της εις Χριστόν πίστεώς σας.
for if even in the flesh I am absent—yet in the spirit I am with you, rejoicing and beholding your order, and the steadfastness of your faith in regard to Christ;
6 Καθώς λοιπόν παρελάβετε τον Χριστόν Ιησούν τον Κύριον, εν αυτώ περιπατείτε,
as, then, you received Christ Jesus the LORD, walk in Him,
7 ερριζωμένοι και εποικοδομούμενοι εν αυτώ και στερεούμενοι εν τη πίστει καθώς εδιδάχθητε, περισσεύοντες εν αυτή μετά ευχαριστίας.
being rooted and built up in Him, and confirmed in the faith, as you were taught—abounding in it in thanksgiving.
8 Βλέπετε μη σας εξαπατήση τις διά της φιλοσοφίας και της ματαίας απάτης, κατά την παράδοσιν των ανθρώπων, κατά τα στοιχεία του κόσμου και ουχί κατά Χριστόν·
See that no one will be carrying you away as spoil through philosophy and vain deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the rudiments of the world, and not according to Christ,
9 διότι εν αυτώ κατοικεί παν το πλήρωμα της θεότητος σωματικώς,
because in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily,
10 και είσθε πλήρεις εν αυτώ, όστις είναι η κεφαλή πάσης αρχής και εξουσίας,
and you are made full in Him, who is the head of all principality and authority,
11 εις τον οποίον και περιετμήθητε με περιτομήν αχειροποίητον, απεκδυθέντες το σώμα των αμαρτιών της σαρκός διά της περιτομής του Χριστού,
in whom you also were circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of sins of the flesh by the circumcision of the Christ,
12 συνταφέντες μετ' αυτού εν τω βαπτίσματι, διά του οποίου και συνανέστητε διά της πίστεως της ενεργείας του Θεού, όστις ανέστησεν αυτόν εκ των νεκρών.
being buried with Him in the immersion, in which you also rose with [Him] through the faith of the working of God, who raised Him out of the dead.
13 Και εσάς, όντας νεκρούς εις τα αμαρτήματα και την ακροβυστίαν της σαρκός σας, συνεζωοποίησε μετ' αυτού, συγχωρήσας εις εσάς πάντα τα πταίσματα,
And you—being dead in the trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh—He made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all the trespasses,
14 εξαλείψας το καθ' ημών χειρόγραφον, συνιστάμενον εις διατάγματα, το οποίον ήτο εναντίον εις ημάς, και αφήρεσεν αυτό εκ του μέσου, προσηλώσας αυτό επί του σταυρού·
having blotted out the handwriting in the ordinances that is against us, that was contrary to us, and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the Cross;
15 και απογυμνώσας τας αρχάς και τας εξουσίας, παρεδειγμάτισε παρρησία, θριαμβεύσας κατ' αυτών επ' αυτού.
having stripped the principalities and the authorities, He made a show of them openly—having triumphed over them by it.
16 Ας μη σας κρίνη λοιπόν μηδείς διά φαγητόν ή διά ποτόν ή διά λόγον εορτής ή νεομηνίας ή σαββάτων,
Let no one, then, judge you in eating or in drinking, or in respect of a celebration, or of a new moon, or of Sabbaths,
17 τα οποία είναι σκιά των μελλόντων, το σώμα όμως είναι του Χριστού.
which are a shadow of the coming things, but the body [is] of the Christ;
18 Ας μη σας στερήση μηδείς του βραβείου με προσποίησιν ταπεινοφροσύνης και με θρησκείαν των αγγέλων, εμβατεύων εις πράγματα τα οποία δεν είδε, ματαίως φυσιούμενος υπό του νοός της σαρκός αυτού,
let no one deceive you of your prize, delighting in humble-mindedness and [in] worship of the messengers, intruding into the things he has not seen, being vainly puffed up by the mind of his flesh,
19 και μη κρατών την κεφαλήν, τον Χριστόν, εκ του οποίου όλον το σώμα διά των αρμών και συνδέσμων διατηρούμενον και συνδεόμενον αυξάνει κατά την αύξησιν του Θεού.
and not holding the Head, from which all the body—gathering supply through the joints and bands, and being knit together—may increase with the increase of God.
20 Εάν λοιπόν απεθάνετε μετά του Χριστού από των στοιχείων του κόσμου, διά τι ως ζώντες εν τω κόσμω υπόκεισθε εις διατάγματα,
If, then, you died with the Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as living in the world, are you subject to ordinances—
21 Μη πιάσης, μη γευθής, μη εγγίσης,
you may not touch, nor taste, nor handle—
22 τα οποία πάντα φθείρονται διά της χρήσεως, κατά τα εντάλματα και τας διδασκαλίας των ανθρώπων;
which are all for destruction with the using, after the commands and teachings of men,
23 τα οποία έχουσι φαινόμενον μόνον σοφίας εις εθελοθρησκείαν και ταπεινοφροσύνην και σκληραγωγίαν του σώματος, εις ουδεμίαν τιμήν έχοντα την ευχαρίστησιν της σαρκός.
which are, indeed, having a matter of wisdom in self-willed religion, and humble-mindedness, and neglecting of body—not of any value to satisfying the flesh.
