Ἀμώςʹ 7

1 Ούτως έδειξεν εις εμέ Κύριος ο Θεός· και ιδού, εμόρφωσεν ακρίδας εν τη αρχή της βλαστήσεως του δευτέρου χόρτου, και ιδού, ήτο ο δεύτερος χόρτος μετά τον θερισμόν του βασιλέως.

Thus did the Lord Jehovah shew unto me; and behold, he formed locusts in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth, and behold, it was the latter growth after the king's mowings.

2 Και ότε ετελείωσαν να τρώγωσι τον χόρτον της γης, τότε είπα, Κύριε Θεέ, γενού ίλεως, δέομαι· τις θέλει αναστήσει τον Ιακώβ; διότι είναι ολιγοστός.

And it came to pass, when they had wholly eaten the grass of the land, that I said, O Lord Jehovah, forgive, I beseech thee! How shall Jacob arise? for he is small.

3 Ο Κύριος μετεμελήθη εις τούτο· δεν θέλει γείνει, λέγει Κύριος.

Jehovah repented for this: It shall not be, said Jehovah.

4 Ούτως έδειξεν εις εμέ Κύριος ο Θεός· και ιδού, Κύριος ο Θεός καλεί εις δίκην διά πυρός και το πυρ κατέφαγε την άβυσσον την μεγάλην και κατέφαγε μέρος της γης.

Thus did the Lord Jehovah shew unto me; and behold, the Lord Jehovah called to contend by fire; and it devoured the great deep, and ate up the inheritance.

5 Τότε είπα, Κύριε Θεέ, παύσον, δέομαι· τις θέλει αναστήσει τον Ιακώβ; διότι είναι ολιγοστός.

Then said I, O Lord Jehovah, cease, I beseech thee! How shall Jacob arise? for he is small.

6 Ο Κύριος μετεμελήθη εις τούτο· Και τούτο δεν θέλει γείνει, λέγει Κύριος ο Θεός.

Jehovah repented for this: This also shall not be, said the Lord Jehovah.

7 Ούτως έδειξεν εις εμέ, και ιδού, ο Κύριος ίστατο επί τοίχου εκτισμένου με στάθμην, έχων εν τη χειρί αυτού στάθμην.

Thus did he shew unto me; and behold, the Lord stood upon a wall [made] by a plumb-line, with a plumb-line in his hand.

8 Και είπε Κύριος προς εμέ, Τι βλέπεις συ, Αμώς; Και είπα, Στάθμην. Τότε είπεν ο Κύριος, Ιδού, εγώ θέλω βάλει στάθμην εις το μέσον του λαού μου Ισραήλ· δεν θέλω πλέον παρατρέξει αυτόν του λοιπού.

And Jehovah said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumb-line. And the Lord said, Behold, I will set a plumb-line in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more.

9 Και οι βωμοί του Ισαάκ θέλουσιν ερημωθή και τα αγιαστήρια του Ισραήλ θέλουσιν αφανισθή· και θέλω σηκωθή εναντίον του οίκου Ιεροβοάμ εν ρομφαία.

And the high places of Isaac shall be desolated, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will arise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.

10 Τότε ο Αμασίας ο ιερεύς της Βαιθήλ εξαπέστειλε προς Ιεροβοάμ τον βασιλέα του Ισραήλ, λέγων, Ο Αμώς συνώμοσεν εναντίον σου εν μέσω του οίκου Ισραήλ· ο τόπος δεν δύναται να υποφέρη πάντας τους λόγους αυτού·

Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.

11 διότι ούτω λέγει ο Αμώς· Ο Ιεροβοάμ θέλει τελευτήσει διά ρομφαίας, ο δε Ισραήλ βεβαίως θέλει φερθή αιχμάλωτος εκ της γης αυτού.

For thus Amos saith: Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall certainly go into captivity out of his land.

12 Τότε είπεν ο Αμασίας προς τον Αμώς, Ω συ ο βλέπων, ύπαγε, φύγε εις την γην Ιούδα και εκεί τρώγε άρτον και εκεί προφήτευε·

And Amaziah said unto Amos, [Thou] seer, go, flee away into the land of Judah, and eat bread there, and prophesy there.

13 εν δε τη Βαιθήλ μη προφητεύσης πλέον, διότι είναι αγιαστήριον του βασιλέως και είναι οίκος του βασιλείου.

But prophesy not again any more at Bethel; for it is the king's sanctuary, and it is the house of the kingdom.

14 Και απεκρίθη ο Αμώς και είπε προς τον Αμασίαν, δεν ήμην εγώ προφήτης ουδέ υιός προφήτου εγώ, αλλ' ήμην βοσκός και συνάζων συκάμινα·

And Amos answered and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was a herdman, and a gatherer of sycamore fruit.

15 και ο Κύριος με έλαβεν από όπισθεν του ποιμνίου και είπε Κύριος προς εμέ, Ύπαγε, προφήτευσον εις τον λαόν μου Ισραήλ.

And Jehovah took me as I followed the flock, and Jehovah said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.

16 Τώρα λοιπόν άκουε τον λόγον του Κυρίου. Συ λέγεις, Μη προφήτευε κατά του Ισραήλ και μη στάλαζε λόγον κατά του οίκου Ισαάκ.

And now hear thou the word of Jehovah: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and utter not [words] against the house of Isaac.

17 Διά τούτο ούτω λέγει Κύριος· Η γυνή σου θέλει είσθαι πόρνη εν τη πόλει, και οι υιοί σου και αι θυγατέρες σου θέλουσι πέσει διά ρομφαίας, και η γη σου θέλει μερισθή διά σχοινίου, και συ θέλεις τελευτήσει εν γη ακαθάρτω· ο δε Ισραήλ βεβαίως θέλει φερθή αιχμάλωτος εκ της γης αυτού.

Therefore thus saith Jehovah: Thy wife shall be a harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided with the line; and thou shalt die in a land that is unclean; and Israel shall certainly go into captivity, out of his land.
