Πραξεις 7
1 Είπε δε ο αρχιερεύς· Τωόντι ούτως έχουσι ταύτα;
And the chief priest said: Are these things so?
2 Ο δε είπεν· Άνδρες αδελφοί και πατέρες, ακούσατε. Ο Θεός της δόξης εφάνη εις τον πατέρα ημών Αβραάμ ότε ήτο εν τη Μεσοποταμία, πριν κατοικήση εν Χαρράν,
He replied: Brethren and fathers, hear: The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham, while he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Charran,
3 και είπε προς αυτόν· Έξελθε εκ της γης σου και εκ της συγγενείας σου, και ελθέ εις γην, την οποίαν θέλω σοι δείξει.
and said to him: Get out from your land, and from your kindred, and come into a land that I will show you.
4 Τότε εξελθών εκ της γης των Χαλδαίων κατώκησεν εν Χαρράν· και εκείθεν μετά τον θάνατον του πατρός αυτού μετώκισεν αυτόν εις την γην ταύτην, εις την οποίαν σεις κατοικείτε τώρα·
Then he departed from the land of the Chaldeans, and dwelt in Charran; and thence, after his father died, he removed into this land, in which you now dwell.
5 και δεν έδωκεν εις αυτόν κληρονομίαν εν αυτή ουδέ βήμα ποδός, υπεσχέθη δε ότι θέλει δώσει αυτήν κτήμα εις αυτήν και εις το σπέρμα αυτού μετ' αυτόν, ενώ δεν είχε τέκνον.
And he gave him no inheritance in it, not a foot breadth: and yet he promised to give it for a possession to him, and to his posterity after him, when as yet he had no child.
6 Ελάλησε δε προς αυτόν ο Θεός ούτως, ότι το σπέρμα αυτού θέλει είσθαι πάροικον εν γη ξένη, και θέλουσι δουλώσει αυτό και καταθλίψει τετρακόσια έτη·
And God spoke thus: That his posterity should sojourn in a strange land, and they should enslave them and afflict them, for four hundred years.
7 και το έθνος, εις το οποίον θέλουσι δουλωθή, εγώ θέλω κρίνει, είπεν ο Θεός· και μετά ταύτα θέλουσιν εξέλθει και θέλουσι με λατρεύσει εν τω τόπω τούτω.
And the nation to which they shall be in bondage I will judge, said God; and after that, they shall come forth and serve me in this place.
8 Και έδωκεν εις αυτόν διαθήκην περιτομής· και ούτως εγέννησε τον Ισαάκ και περιέτεμεν αυτόν τη ογδόη ημέρα, και ο Ισαάκ εγέννησε τον Ιακώβ, και ο Ιακώβ τους δώδεκα πατριάρχας.
And he gave him the covenant of circumcision, and thus he begot Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot the twelve patriarchs.
9 Και οι πατριάρχαι, φθονήσαντες τον Ιωσήφ, επώλησαν εις την Αίγυπτον. Ο Θεός όμως ήτο μετ' αυτού,
And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,
10 και ηλευθέρωσεν αυτόν εκ πασών των θλίψεων αυτού και έδωκεν εις αυτόν χάριν και σοφίαν ενώπιον Φαραώ του βασιλέως της Αιγύπτου, όστις κατέστησεν αυτόν κυβερνήτην επί της Αιγύπτου και όλου του οίκου αυτού.
and delivered him from all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom in the sight of Pharoah, king of Egypt: and he made him governor over Egypt, and his whole house.
11 Ήλθε δε πείνα εφ' όλην την γην της Αιγύπτου και Χαναάν και θλίψις μεγάλη, και δεν εύρισκον τροφάς οι πατέρες ημών.
And there came a famine, and great affliction on the whole land of Egypt, and of Chanaan: and our fathers found no sustenance.
12 Ακούσας δε ο Ιακώβ ότι υπήρχε σίτος εν Αιγύπτω, εξαπέστειλε πρώτην φοράν τους πατέρας ημών·
But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent forth our fathers the first time:
13 και εν τη δευτέρα ανεγνωρίσθη ο Ιωσήφ εις τους αδελφούς αυτού, και εφανερώθη εις τον Φαραώ το γένος του Ιωσήφ.
and, on their second visit, Joseph made himself known to his brothers, and the kindred of Joseph were made known to Pharaoh.
14 Αποστείλας δε ο Ιωσήφ, εκάλεσε προς εαυτόν τον πατέρα αυτού Ιακώβ και πάσαν την συγγένειαν αυτού εβδομήκοντα πέντε ψυχάς.
And Joseph sent and called to him his father Jacob, and all his kindred, seventy-five souls.
15 Και κατέβη ο Ιακώβ εις Αίγυπτον και ετελεύτησεν εκεί αυτός και οι πατέρες ημών,
And Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, himself and our fathers;
16 και μετεκομίσθησαν εις Συχέμ και ετέθησαν εν τω μνήματι, το οποίον ηγόρασεν ο Αβραάμ με τιμήν αργυρίου παρά των υιών του Εμμώρ πατρός του Συχέμ.
and they were carried over into Sychem, and laid in the sepulcher which Abraham bought for its value in silver, from the sons of Emmor, the father of Sychem.
17 Καθώς δε επλησίαζεν ο καιρός της επαγγελίας, την οποίαν ώμοσεν ο Θεός προς τον Αβραάμ, ηύξησεν ο λαός και επληθύνθη εν Αιγύπτω,
And as the time of the promise which God had made with an oath to Abraham drew near, the people increased and multiplied in Egypt,
18 εωσού εσηκώθη βασιλεύς άλλος, όστις δεν ήξευρε τον Ιωσήφ.
till another king arose, who knew not Joseph.
19 Ούτος δολιευθείς το γένος ημών, κατέθλιψε τους πατέρας ημών, ώστε να κάμη να ρίπτωνται τα βρέφη αυτών, διά να μη ζωογονώνται·
He dealt insidiously with our race, and afflicted our fathers, so that they exposed their infants, in order that they might not live.
20 εν τούτω τω καιρώ εγεννήθη ο Μωϋσής, και είχε θείον κάλλος· όστις ανετράφη τρεις μήνας εν τω οίκω του πατρός αυτού.
At which time Moses was born; and he was exceedingly beautiful, and was nursed three months in his father’s house.
21 Αφού δε ερρίφθη, ανέλαβεν αυτόν η θυγάτηρ του Φαραώ και ανέθρεψεν αυτόν διά να ήναι υιός αυτής.
But having been exposed, the daughter of Pharaoh took him up, and educated him as her own son.
22 Και εδιδάχθη ο Μωϋσής πάσαν την σοφίαν των Αιγυπτίων και ήτο δυνατός εν λόγοις και εν έργοις.
And Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.
23 Ενώ δε ετελείονε το τεσσαρακοστόν έτος της ηλικίας αυτού, ήλθεν εις την καρδίαν αυτού να επισκεφθή τους αδελφούς αυτού, τους υιούς Ισραήλ.
When he had completed his fortieth year, it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the sons of Israel.
24 Και ιδών τινά αδικούμενον, υπερησπίσθη αυτόν και έκαμεν εκδίκησιν υπέρ του καταθλιβομένου, πατάξας τον Αιγύπτιον.
And seeing one of them unjustly treated, he defended and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian.
25 Ενόμιζε δε ότι οι αδελφοί αυτού ήθελον νοήσει ότι ο Θεός διά της χειρός αυτού δίδει εις αυτούς σωτηρίαν· εκείνοι όμως δεν ενόησαν.
And he supposed that his brethren would understand that, by his hand, God would give them salvation: but they understood not.
26 Την δε ακόλουθον ημέραν εφάνη εις αυτούς, ενώ εμάχοντο, και παρεκίνησεν αυτούς εις ειρήνην, ειπών· Άνθρωποι, αδελφοί είσθε σείς· διά τι αδικείτε αλλήλους;
And on the next day he showed himself to them, as they were fighting, and endeavored to persuade them to peace, saying, Men, you are brothers: why do you injure one another?
27 Ο δε αδικών τον πλησίον απέσπρωξεν αυτόν, ειπών· Τις σε κατέστησεν άρχοντα και δικαστήν εφ' ημάς;
But he that was doing the injury to his neighbor, thrust him away, saying, Who made you a ruler or a judge over us?
28 Μήπως θέλεις συ να με φονεύσης, καθ' ον τρόπον εφόνευσας χθές τον Αιγύπτιον;
Do you intend to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian yesterday?
29 Τότε ο Μωϋσής έφυγε διά τον λόγον τούτον και έγεινε πάροικος εν γη Μαδιάμ, όπου εγέννησε δύο υιούς.
And at that saying Moses fled, and became a resident in the land of Midian, where he begot two sons.
30 Και αφού συνεπληρώθησαν τεσσαράκοντα έτη, εφάνη εις αυτόν άγγελος Κυρίου εν τη ερήμω του όρους Σινά εν μέσω φλογός καιομένης βάτου.
And when forty years were completed, there appeared to him, in the wilderness of Mount Sinai, an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.
31 Ο δε Μωϋσής ιδών εθαύμασε διά το όραμα· και ενώ επλησίαζε διά να παρατηρήση, ήλθε φωνή Κυρίου προς αυτόν·
When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight, and as he was drawing near to observe it, the voice of the Lord came to him:
32 Εγώ είμαι ο Θεός των πατέρων σου, ο Θεός του Αβραάμ και ο Θεός του Ισαάκ και ο Θεός του Ιακώβ. Έντρομος δε γενόμενος ο Μωϋσής, δεν ετόλμα να παρατηρήση.
I am the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses trembled, and durst not observe it.
33 Και είπε προς αυτόν ο Κύριος· Λύσον το υπόδημα των ποδών σου· διότι ο τόπος, επί του οποίου ίστασαι, είναι γη αγία.
Then said the Lord to him: Loose your shoes from your feet; for the place in which you stand is holy ground.
34 Είδον, είδον την ταλαιπωρίαν του λαού μου του εν Αιγύπτω και ήκουσα τον στεναγμόν αυτών και κατέβην διά να ελευθερώσω αυτούς· και τώρα ελθέ, θέλω σε αποστείλει εις Αίγυπτον.
I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and I have come down to deliver them; and now come, and I will send you into Egypt.
35 Τούτον τον Μωϋσήν τον οποίον ηρνήθησαν ειπόντες· Τις σε κατέστησεν άρχοντα και δικαστήν; τούτον ο Θεός απέστειλεν αρχηγόν και λυτρωτήν διά χειρός του αγγέλου του φανέντος εις αυτόν εν τη βάτω.
This Moses, whom they rejected, saying, Who made you a ruler and a judge? him God sent as a ruler and as a redeemer, by the hand of the angel that appeared to him in the bush.
36 Ούτος εξήγαγεν αυτούς, αφού έκαμε τέρατα και σημεία εν γη Αιγύπτου και εν τη Ερυθρά θαλάσση και εν τη ερήμω τεσσαράκοντα έτη.
He brought them out, after he had performed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and at the Red Sea, and in the wilderness, forty years.
37 Ούτος είναι ο Μωϋσής, όστις είπε προς τους υιούς του Ισραήλ· προφήτην εκ των αδελφών σας θέλει σας αναστήσει Κύριος ο Θεός σας, ως εμέ· αυτού θέλετε ακούσει.
This is that Moses, who said to the sons of Israel, A prophet like me will the Lord your God raise up for you from among your brethren; him shall you hear.
38 Ούτος είναι όστις εν τη εκκλησία εν τη ερήμω εστάθη μετά του αγγέλου του λαλούντος προς αυτόν εν τω όρει Σινά και μετά των πατέρων ημών, και παρέλαβε λόγια ζωοποιά διά να δώση εις ημάς.
This is he who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the angel that spoke to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers; he received the living oracles, that he might give them to us.
39 Εις τον οποίον οι πατέρες ημών δεν ηθέλησαν να υπακούσωσιν, αλλ' απέβαλον και εστράφησαν εν ταις καρδίαις αυτών εις Αίγυπτον
To him our fathers were not willing to be obedient; but they rejected him, and turned back in their hearts to Egypt,
40 ειπόντες προς τον Ααρών· Κάμε εις ημάς θεούς, οίτινες θέλουσι προπορεύεσθαι ημών· διότι ούτος ο Μωϋσής, όστις εξήγαγεν ημάς εξ Αιγύπτου, δεν εξεύρομεν τι συνέβη εις αυτόν.
saying to Aaron: Make us gods that shall go before us; for, as for this Moses, who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we know not what has become of him.
41 Και κατεσκεύασαν μόσχον εν ταις ημέραις εκείναις και προσέφεραν θυσίαν εις το είδωλον και ευφραίνοντο εις τα έργα των χειρών αυτών.
And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.
42 Όθεν εστράφη ο Θεός και παρέδωκεν αυτούς εις το να λατρεύσωσι την στρατιάν του ουρανού, καθώς είναι γεγραμμένον εν τω βιβλίω των προφητών. Μήπως προσεφέρατε εις εμέ σφάγια και θυσίας τεσσαράκοντα έτη εν τη ερήμω, οίκος Ισραήλ;
But God turned and delivered them up to serve the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the prophets: Your victims and your sacrifices did you offer to me for forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?
43 Μάλιστα ανελάβετε την σκηνήν του Μολόχ και το άστρον του Θεού σας Ρεμφάν, τους τύπους, τους οποίους εκάμετε διά να προσκυνήτε αυτούς· διά τούτο θέλω σας μετοικίσει επέκεινα της Βαβυλώνος.
Yes, you took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your God Remphan, images which you made to worship; and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.
44 Η σκηνή του μαρτυρίου ήτο μετά των πατέρων ημών εν τη ερήμω, καθώς διέταξεν εκείνος, όστις ελάλει προς τον Μωϋσήν, να κατασκευάση αυτήν κατά τον τύπον τον οποίον είχεν ιδεί·
The tabernacle of the testimony was with our fathers in the wilderness, built as he who spoke to Moses commanded him to build it, according to the pattern which he had seen:
45 την οποίαν και παραλαβόντες οι πατέρες ημών, έφεραν μετά του Ιησού εις την κατακτηθείσαν γην των εθνών, τα οποία ο Θεός έξωσεν απ' έμπροσθεν των πατέρων ημών, έως των ημερών του Δαβίδ·
which our fathers, who were with Joshua, received by succession, and brought into the land possessed by the Gentiles, whom God continued to drive out from the face of our fathers till the days of David,
46 όστις εύρε χάριν ενώπιον του Θεού και ηυχήθη να εύρη κατοικίαν διά τον Θεόν του Ιακώβ.
who found favor before God, and desired to find a dwelling-place for the God of Jacob.
47 Ο Σολομών δε ωκοδόμησεν εις αυτόν οίκον.
But Solomon built him a house.
48 Αλλ' ο Ύψιστος δεν κατοικεί εν χειροποιήτοις ναοίς, καθώς ο προφήτης λέγει·
Yet the Most High dwells not in temples made with hands, as says the prophet:
49 Ο ουρανός είναι θρόνος μου, η δε γη υποπόδιον των ποδών μου· ποίον οίκον θέλετε οικοδομήσει δι' εμέ, λέγει Κύριος, ή ποίος ο τόπος της αναπαύσεώς μου;
Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What house will you build me? says the Lord; or what is the place of my rest?
50 Η χειρ μου δεν έκαμε ταύτα πάντα;
Has not my hand made all these things?
51 Σκληροτράχηλοι και απερίτμητοι την καρδίαν και τα ώτα, σεις πάντοτε αντιφέρεσθε κατά του Πνεύματος του Αγίου· καθώς οι πατέρες σας, ούτω και σεις.
You stiff-necked, and uncircumcised in heart and in ears, you do always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so also do you.
52 Τίνα των προφητών δεν εδίωξαν οι πατέρες σας; μάλιστα εφόνευσαν εκείνους, οίτινες προκατήγγειλαν περί της ελεύσεως του δικαίου, του οποίου σεις εγείνατε τώρα προδόται και φονείς·
Which of the prophets did not your fathers persecute? They slew also those who foretold the coming of the Just One, of whom you have now become the betrayers and murderers;
53 οίτινες ελάβετε τον νόμον εκ διαταγών αγγέλων και δεν εφυλάξατε.
who received the law by the appointment of angels, and have not kepi, it.
54 Ακούοντες δε ταύτα, κατεκόπτοντο τας καρδίας αυτών και έτριζον τους οδόντας κατ' αυτού.
When they heard these things, they were enraged in their hearts, and gnashed upon him with their teeth.
55 Ο δε Στέφανος, πλήρης ων Πνεύματος Αγίου, ατενίσας εις τον ουρανόν, είδε την δόξαν του Θεού και τον Ιησούν ιστάμενον εκ δεξιών του Θεού
But being full of the Holy Spirit, he looked earnestly up into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God;
56 και είπεν· Ιδού, θεωρώ τους ουρανούς ανεωγμένους και τον Υιόν του ανθρώπου ιστάμενον εκ δεξιών του Θεού.
and he said: Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing at the right hand of God.
57 Τότε φωνάξαντες μετά φωνής μεγάλης, έφραξαν τα ώτα αυτών και ώρμησαν ομοθυμαδόν επ' αυτόν,
And they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and, with one consent, rushed upon him,
58 και εκβαλόντες έξω της πόλεως ελιθοβόλουν. Και οι μάρτυρες απέθεσαν τα ιμάτια αυτών εις τους πόδας νεανίου τινός ονομαζομένου Σαύλου.
and drove him out of the city, and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man called Saul.
59 Και ελιθοβόλουν τον Στέφανον, επικαλούμενον και λέγοντα· Κύριε Ιησού, δέξαι το πνεύμά μου.
And they stoned Stephen while he was calling on the Lord, and saying: Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
60 Και γονατίσας εφώναξε μετά φωνής μεγάλης· Κύριε, μη λογαριάσης εις αυτούς την αμαρτίαν ταύτην. Και τούτο ειπών εκοιμήθη.
And he kneeled down and cried with a loud voice: Lord, let not this sin stand against them. And when he had said this, he fell asleep. And Saul was well pleased with his death.
