Πραξεις 4
1 Ενώ δε αυτοί ελάλουν προς τον λαόν, ήλθον επ' αυτούς οι ιερείς και ο στρατηγός του ιερού και οι Σαδδουκαίοι,
And as they are speaking to the people, there came to them the priests, and the magistrate of the temple, and the Sadducees—
2 αγανακτούντες διότι εδίδασκον τον λαόν και εκήρυττον διά του Ιησού την εκ νεκρών ανάστασιν·
being grieved because of their teaching the people, and preaching in Jesus the resurrection out of the dead—
3 και επέβαλον επ' αυτούς τας χείρας και έθεσαν υπό φύλαξιν έως της αύριον, διότι ήτο ήδη εσπέρα.
and they laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, for it was evening already;
4 Πολλοί δε των ακουσάντων τον λόγον επίστευσαν, και έγεινεν ο αριθμός των ανδρών ως πέντε χιλιάδες.
and many of those hearing the word believed, and the number of the men became, as it were, five thousand.
5 Και τη επαύριον συνήχθησαν εις την Ιερουσαλήμ οι άρχοντες αυτών και οι πρεσβύτεροι και οι γραμματείς,
And it came to pass the next day, there were gathered together of them the rulers, and elders, and scribes, to Jerusalem,
6 και Άννας ο αρχιερεύς και Καϊάφας και Ιωάννης και Αλέξανδρος και όσοι ήσαν εκ γένους αρχιερατικού.
and Annas the chief priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the family of the chief priest,
7 Και στήσαντες αυτούς εις το μέσον, ηρώτων· Διά ποίας δυνάμεως ή διά ποίου ονόματος επράξατε τούτο σεις;
and having set them in the midst, they were inquiring, “In what power, or in what name did you do this?”
8 Τότε ο Πέτρος, πλησθείς Πνεύματος Αγίου, είπε προς αυτούς· Άρχοντες του λαού και πρεσβύτεροι του Ισραήλ,
Then Peter, having been filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: “Rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
9 εάν ημείς ανακρινώμεθα σήμερον διά ευεργεσίαν προς άνθρωπον ασθενούντα, διά ποίας δυνάμεως ούτος ιατρεύθη,
if we are examined today concerning the good deed to the ailing man, by whom he has been saved,
10 ας ήναι γνωστόν εις πάντας υμάς και εις πάντα τον λαόν του Ισραήλ ότι διά του ονόματος του Ιησού Χριστού του Ναζωραίου, τον οποίον σεις εσταυρώσατε, τον οποίον ο Θεός ανέστησεν εκ νεκρών, διά τούτου παρίσταται ούτος ενώπιον υμών υγιής.
be it known to all of you, and to all the people of Israel, that in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised out of the dead, in Him has this one stood by before you whole.
11 Ούτος είναι ο λίθος ο εξουθενηθείς εφ' υμών των οικοδομούντων, όστις έγεινε κεφαλή γωνίας.
This is the stone that was set at nothing by you—the builders, that became head of a corner;
12 Και δεν υπάρχει δι' ουδενός άλλου η σωτηρία· διότι ούτε όνομα άλλο είναι υπό τον ουρανόν δεδομένον μεταξύ των ανθρώπων, διά του οποίου πρέπει να σωθώμεν.
and there is not salvation in any other, for there is no other name under Heaven that has been given among men, in which it is required of us to be saved.”
13 Θεωρούντες δε την παρρησίαν του Πέτρου και Ιωάννου, και πληροφορηθέντες ότι είναι άνθρωποι αγράμματοι και ιδιώται, εθαύμαζον και ανεγνώριζον αυτούς ότι ήσαν μετά του Ιησού·
And beholding the openness of Peter and John, and having perceived that they are illiterate men and commoners, they were wondering—they were also taking knowledge of them that they had been with Jesus—
14 βλέποντες δε τον άνθρωπον τον τεθεραπευμένον ιστάμενον μετ' αυτών, δεν είχον ουδέν να αντείπωσι.
and seeing the man standing with them who has been healed, they had nothing to say against [it],
15 Προστάξαντες δε αυτούς να απέλθωσιν έξω του συνεδρίου, συνεβουλεύθησαν προς αλλήλους,
and having commanded them to go away out of the Sanhedrin, they took counsel with one another,
16 λέγοντες· Τι θέλομεν κάμει εις τους ανθρώπους τούτους; επειδή ότι μεν έγεινε δι' αυτών γνωστόν θαύμα, είναι φανερόν εις πάντας τους κατοικούντας την Ιερουσαλήμ, και δεν δυνάμεθα να αρνηθώμεν τούτο·
saying, “What will we do to these men? Because that, indeed, a notable sign has been done through them [is] apparent to all those dwelling in Jerusalem, and we are not able to deny [it];
17 αλλά διά να μη διαδοθή περισσότερον εις τον λαόν, ας απειλήσωμεν αυτούς αυστηρώς να μη λαλώσι πλέον εν τω ονόματι τούτω προς μηδένα άνθρωπον.
but that it may spread no further toward the people, let us strictly threaten them to no longer speak in this Name to any man.”
18 Και καλέσαντες αυτούς, παρήγγειλαν εις αυτούς να μη λαλώσι καθόλου μηδέ να διδάσκωσιν εν τω ονόματι του Ιησού.
And having called them, they charged them not to speak at all, nor to teach, in the Name of Jesus,
19 Ο δε Πέτρος και Ιωάννης αποκριθέντες προς αυτούς, είπον· Αν ήναι δίκαιον ενώπιον του Θεού να ακούωμεν εσάς μάλλον παρά τον Θεόν, κρίνατε.
and Peter and John answering to them said, “Whether it is righteous before God to listen to you rather than to God, judge;
20 Διότι ημείς δεν δυνάμεθα να μη λαλώμεν όσα είδομεν και ηκούσαμεν.
for we cannot but speak what we saw and heard.”
21 Οι δε, πάλιν απειλήσαντες αυτούς απέλυσαν, μη ευρίσκοντες το πως να τιμωρήσωσιν αυτούς, διά τον λαόν, διότι πάντες εδόξαζον τον Θεόν διά το γεγονός.
And they having further threatened [them], let them go, finding no way how they may punish them, because of the people, because all were glorifying God for that which has been done,
22 Επειδή ο άνθρωπος, εις τον οποίον έγεινε το θαύμα τούτο της θεραπείας, ήτο περισσότερον των τεσσαράκοντα ετών.
for above forty years of age was the man on whom had been done this sign of the healing.
23 Και αφού απελύθησαν, ήλθον προς τους οικείους και απήγγειλαν όσα είπον προς αυτούς οι αρχιερείς και οι πρεσβύτεροι.
And being let go, they went to their own friends, and declared whatever the chief priests and the elders said to them,
24 Οι δε ακούσαντες, ομοθυμαδόν ύψωσαν την φωνήν προς τον Θεόν και είπον· Δέσποτα, συ είσαι ο Θεός, όστις έκαμες τον ουρανόν και την γην και την θάλασσαν και πάντα τα εν αυτοίς,
and they having heard, lifted up the voice to God with one accord and said, “LORD, You [are] God, who made the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and all that [are] in them,
25 όστις είπας διά στόματος Δαβίδ του δούλου σου· Διά τι εφρύαξαν τα έθνη και οι λαοί εμελέτησαν μάταια;
who, through the mouth of Your servant David, said, Why did nations rage, and peoples meditate vain things?
26 παρεστάθησαν οι βασιλείς της γης και οι άρχοντες συνήχθησαν ομού κατά του Κυρίου και κατά του Χριστού αυτού.
The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the LORD and against His Christ;
27 Διότι συνήχθησαν επ' αληθείας εναντίον του αγίου Παιδός σου Ιησού, τον οποίον έχρισας, και ο Ηρώδης και ο Πόντιος Πιλάτος μετά των εθνών και των λαών του Ισραήλ,
for gathered together of a truth against Your holy child Jesus, whom You anointed, were both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with nations and peoples of Israel,
28 διά να κάμωσιν όσα η χειρ σου και η βουλή σου προώρισε να γείνωσι·
to do whatever Your hand and Your counsel determined before to come to pass.
29 και τώρα, Κύριε, βλέψον εις τας απειλάς αυτών και δος εις τους δούλους σου να λαλώσι τον λόγον σου μετά πάσης παρρησίας,
And now, LORD, look on their threatenings, and grant to Your servants to speak Your word with all freedom,
30 εκτείνων την χείρα σου εις θεραπείαν και γινομένων σημείων και τεραστίων διά του ονόματος του αγίου Παιδός σου Ιησού.
in the stretching forth of Your hand, for healing, and signs, and wonders, to come to pass through the Name of Your holy child Jesus.”
31 Μετά δε την δέησιν αυτών εσείσθη ο τόπος όπου ήσαν συνηγμένοι, και επλήσθησαν άπαντες Πνεύματος Αγίου και ελάλουν τον λόγον του Θεού μετά παρρησίας.
And they having prayed, the place was shaken in which they were gathered together, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and were speaking the word of God with freedom,
32 Του δε πλήθους των πιστευσάντων η καρδία και η ψυχή ήτο μία, και ουδέ εις έλεγεν ότι είναι εαυτού τι εκ των υπαρχόντων αυτού αλλ' είχον τα πάντα κοινά.
and of the multitude of those who believed, the heart and the soul were one, and not one was saying that anything of the things he had was his own, but all things were in common to them.
33 Και μετά δυνάμεως μεγάλης απέδιδον οι απόστολοι την μαρτυρίαν της αναστάσεως του Κυρίου Ιησού, και χάρις μεγάλη ήτο επί πάντας αυτούς.
And with great power the apostles were giving the testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, great grace was also on them all,
34 Επειδή ουδέ ήτο τις μεταξύ αυτών ενδεής· διότι όσοι ήσαν κτήτορες αγρών ή οικιών, πωλούντες έφερον τας τιμάς των πωλουμένων
for there was not anyone among them who lacked, for as many as were possessors of fields, or houses, selling [them], were bringing the prices of the thing sold,
35 και έθετον εις τους πόδας των αποστόλων· και διεμοιράζετο εις έκαστον κατά την χρείαν την οποίαν είχε.
and were laying them at the feet of the apostles, and distribution was being made to each according as anyone had need.
36 Και ο Ιωσής, ο επονομασθείς υπό των αποστόλων Βαρνάβας, το οποίον μεθερμηνευόμενον είναι υιός παρηγορίας Λευΐτης, Κύπριος το γένος,
And Joses, who was surnamed by the apostles Barnabas—which is, having been interpreted, Son of Comfort—a Levite, of Cyprus by birth,
37 έχων αγρόν επώλησε και έφερε τα χρήματα και έθεσεν εις τους πόδας των αποστόλων.
a field being his, having sold [it], brought the money and laid [it] at the feet of the apostles.
