Πραξεις 14
1 Εν δε τω Ικονίω εισελθόντες ομού εις την συναγωγήν των Ιουδαίων, ελάλησαν ούτως ώστε επίστευσε πολύ πλήθος Ιουδαίων τε και Ελλήνων.
In Iconium, they entered together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a great multitude both of Jews and of Greeks believed.
2 Όσοι δε Ιουδαίοι δεν επείθοντο παρώξυναν και διέστρεψαν τας ψυχάς των εθνικών κατά των αδελφών.
But the disbelieving Jews stirred up and embittered the souls of the Gentiles against the brothers.
3 Ικανόν λοιπόν καιρόν διέτριψαν λαλούντες μετά παρρησίας περί του Κυρίου, όστις εμαρτύρει εις τον λόγον της χάριτος αυτού, και έδιδε να γίνωνται σημεία και τέρατα διά των χειρών αυτών.
Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who testified to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.
4 Εσχίσθη δε το πλήθος της πόλεως, και οι μεν ήσαν μετά των Ιουδαίων, οι δε μετά των αποστόλων.
But the multitude of the city was divided. Part sided with the Jews and part with the apostles.
5 Και ότε ώρμησαν οι εθνικοί και οι Ιουδαίοι μετά των αρχόντων αυτών εις το να υβρίσωσι και να λιθοβολήσωσιν αυτούς,
When some of both the Gentiles and the Jews, with their rulers, made a violent attempt to mistreat and stone them,
6 εννοήσαντες κατέφυγον εις τας πόλεις της Λυκαονίας Λύστραν και Δέρβην και τα περίχωρα,
they became aware of it and fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra, Derbe, and the surrounding region.
7 και εκεί εκήρυττον το ευαγγέλιον.
There they preached the Good News.
8 Εν δε τοις Λύστροις εκάθητο ανήρ τις αδύνατος τους πόδας, χωλός υπάρχων εκ κοιλίας μητρός αυτού, όστις ποτέ δεν είχε περιπατήσει.
At Lystra a certain man sat, impotent in his feet, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked.
9 Ούτος ήκουε τον Παύλον λαλούντα· όστις ατενίσας εις αυτόν και ιδών ότι έχει πίστιν διά να σωθή,
He was listening to Paul speaking, who, fastening eyes on him and seeing that he had faith to be made whole,
10 είπε μετά μεγάλης φωνής· Σηκώθητι επί τους πόδας σου ορθός. Και επήδα και περιεπάτει.
said with a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet!” He leaped up and walked.
11 Οι δε όχλοι, ιδόντες τούτο το οποίον έκαμεν ο Παύλος, ύψωσαν την φωνήν αυτών, λέγοντες Λυκαονιστί· Οι θεοί ομοιωθέντες με ανθρώπους κατέβησαν προς ημάς.
When the multitude saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voice, saying in the language of Lycaonia, “The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!”
12 Και ωνόμαζον τον μεν Βαρνάβαν Δία, τον δε Παύλον Ερμήν, επειδή αυτός ήτο ο αρχηγός του λόγου.
They called Barnabas “Jupiter”, and Paul “Mercury”, because he was the chief speaker.
13 Και ο ιερεύς του Διός, του όντος έμπροσθεν της πόλεως αυτών, έφερε ταύρους και στέμματα εις τας πύλας μετά του όχλου και ήθελε να προσφέρη θυσίαν.
The priest of Jupiter, whose temple was in front of their city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, and would have made a sacrifice along with the multitudes.
14 Ακούσαντες δε οι απόστολοι Βαρνάβας και Παύλος, διέσχισαν τα ιμάτια αυτών και επήδησαν εις το μέσον του όχλου, κράζοντες
But when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of it, they tore their clothes and sprang into the multitude, crying out,
15 και λέγοντες· Άνδρες, τι κάμνετε ταύτα; και ημείς είμεθα άνθρωποι ομοιοπαθείς με σας, κηρύττοντες προς εσάς να επιστρέψητε από τούτων των ματαίων προς τον Θεόν τον ζώντα, όστις έκαμε τον ουρανόν και την γην και την θάλασσαν και πάντα τα εν αυτοίς·
“Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men of the same nature as you, and bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to the living God, who made the sky, the earth, the sea, and all that is in them;
16 όστις εν ταις παρελθούσαις γενεαίς αφήκε πάντα τα έθνη να περιπατώσιν εν ταις οδοίς αυτών.
who in the generations gone by allowed all the nations to walk in their own ways.
17 καίτοι δεν αφήκεν αμαρτύρητον εαυτόν αγαθαποιών, δίδων εις ημάς ουρανόθεν βροχάς και καιρούς καρποφόρους, γεμίζων τροφής και ευφροσύνης τας καρδίας ημών.
Yet he did not leave himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you rains from the sky and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.”
18 Και ταύτα λέγοντες μόλις εμπόδισαν τους όχλους, ώστε να μη προσφέρωσι θυσίαν εις αυτούς.
Even saying these things, they hardly stopped the multitudes from making a sacrifice to them.
19 Εν τούτω δε ήλθον Ιουδαίοι εξ Αντιοχείας και Ικονίου, και πείσαντες τους όχλους και λιθοβολήσαντες τον Παύλον, έσυραν έξω της πόλεως, νομίσαντες ότι απέθανεν.
But some Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there, and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead.
20 Ότε δε περιεκύκλωσαν αυτόν οι μαθηταί, σηκωθείς εισήλθεν εις την πόλιν και τη επαύριον εξήλθε μετά του Βαρνάβα εις Δέρβην.
But as the disciples stood around him, he rose up, and entered into the city. On the next day he went out with Barnabas to Derbe.
21 Και αφού εκήρυξαν το ευαγγέλιον εν τη πόλει εκείνη και εμαθήτευσαν ικανούς, υπέστρεψαν εις την Λύστραν και Ικόνιον και Αντιόχειαν,
When they had preached the Good News to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch,
22 επιστηρίζοντες τας ψυχάς των μαθητών, προτρέποντες να εμμένωσιν εις την πίστιν, και διδάσκοντες ότι διά πολλών θλίψεων πρέπει να εισέλθωμεν εις την βασιλείαν του Θεού.
strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many afflictions we must enter into God’s Kingdom.
23 Και αφού εχειροτόνησαν εις αυτούς πρεσβυτέρους κατά πάσαν εκκλησίαν, προσευχηθέντες με νηστείας, αφιέρωσαν αυτούς εις τον Κύριον, εις τον οποίον είχον πιστεύσει.
When they had appointed elders for them in every assembly, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord on whom they had believed.
24 Και διελθόντες την Πισιδίαν ήλθον εις Παμφυλίαν,
They passed through Pisidia and came to Pamphylia.
25 και κηρύξαντες τον λόγον εν Πέργη, κατέβησαν εις Αττάλειαν,
When they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.
26 και εκείθεν απέπλευσαν εις Αντιόχειαν, όθεν ήσαν παραδεδομένοι εις την χάριν του Θεού διά το έργον, το οποίον εξετέλεσαν.
From there they sailed to Antioch, from where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work which they had fulfilled.
27 Ελθόντες δε και συνάξαντες την εκκλησίαν, ανήγγειλαν όσα έκαμεν ο Θεός δι' αυτών, και ότι ήνοιξεν εις τα έθνη θύραν πίστεως.
When they had arrived and had gathered the assembly together, they reported all the things that God had done with them, and that he had opened a door of faith to the nations.
28 Και διέτριβον εκεί ουκ ολίγον καιρόν μετά των μαθητών.
They stayed there with the disciples for a long time.
