Βασιλειῶν Βʹ 8

1 Μετά δε ταύτα επάταξεν ο Δαβίδ τους Φιλισταίους και κατετρόπωσεν αυτούς· και έλαβεν ο Δαβίδ την Μεθέγ-αμμά εκ χειρός των Φιλισταίων.

And after this it came to pass that David stroke the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Methegammah out of the hand of the Philistines.

2 Και επάταξε τους Μωαβίτας και διεμέτρησεν αυτούς διά σχοινίων, απλώσας αυτούς κατά γής· και διεμέτρησε διά δύο σχοινίων διά να θανατώση, και δι' ενός πλήρους σχοινίου διά να αφήση ζώντας. Ούτως οι Μωαβίται έγειναν δούλοι του Δαβίδ υποτελείς.

And he stroke Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts.

3 Επάταξεν έτι ο Δαβίδ τον Αδαδεζέρ, υιόν του Ρεώβ, βασιλέα της Σωβά, ενώ υπήγαινε να στήση την εξουσίαν αυτού επί τον ποταμόν Ευφράτην.

David stroke also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates.

4 Και έλαβεν ο Δαβίδ εξ αυτού χιλίους επτακοσίους ιππείς και είκοσι χιλιάδας πεζών· και ενευροκόπησεν ο Δαβίδ πάντας τους ίππους των αμαξών, και εφύλαξεν εξ αυτών εκατόν αμάξας.

And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David cut the hamstrings of all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for an hundred chariots.

5 Και ότε ήλθον οι Σύριοι της Δαμασκού διά να βοηθήσωσι τον Αδαδέζερ, βασιλέα της Σωβά, ο Δαβίδ επάταξεν εκ των Συρίων εικοσιδύο χιλιάδας ανδρών.

And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.

6 Και έβαλεν ο Δαβίδ φρουράς εν τη Συρία της Δαμασκού· και οι Σύριοι έγειναν δούλοι υποτελείς του Δαβίδ. Και έσωζεν ο Κύριος τον Δαβίδ πανταχού, όπου επορεύετο.

Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the LORD preserved David anywhere he went.

7 Και έλαβεν ο Δαβίδ τας ασπίδας τας χρυσάς, αίτινες ήσαν επί τους δούλους του Αδαδέζερ, και έφερεν αυτάς εις Ιερουσαλήμ.

And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

8 Και εκ της Βετάχ και εκ Βηρωθάϊ, πόλεων του Αδαδέζερ, ο βασιλεύς Δαβίδ έλαβε χαλκόν πολύν σφόδρα.

And from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass.

9 Ακούσας δε ο Θοεί, βασιλεύς της Αιμάθ, ότι ο Δαβίδ επάταξε πάσαν την δύναμιν του Αδαδέζερ,

When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer,

10 απέστειλεν ο Θοεί Ιωράμ, τον υιόν αυτού, προς τον βασιλέα Δαβίδ, διά να χαιρετήση αυτόν και να ευλογήση αυτόν, ότι κατεπολέμησε τον Αδαδέζερ και επάταξεν αυτόν· διότι ο Αδαδέζερ ήτο πολέμιος του Θοεί. Και έφερεν ο Ιωράμ μεθ' εαυτού σκεύη αργυρά και σκεύη χρυσά και σκεύη χάλκινα·

Then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:

11 και ταύτα αφιέρωσεν ο βασιλεύς Δαβίδ εις τον Κύριον μετά του αργυρίου και του χρυσίου, τα οποία είχεν αφιερώσει εκ πάντων των εθνών, όσα υπέταξεν·

Which also king David did dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued;

12 εκ της Συρίας και εκ του Μωάβ και εκ των υιών Αμμών και εκ των Φιλισταίων και εκ του Αμαλήκ και εκ των λαφύρων του Αδαδέζερ, υιού του Ρεώβ, βασιλέως της Σωβά.

Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

13 Και απέκτησεν ο Δαβίδ όνομα, ότε επέστρεφε, κατατροπώσας τους Συρίους εν τη κοιλάδι του άλατος, δεκαοκτώ χιλιάδας.

And David got him a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, being eighteen thousand men.

14 Και έβαλε φρουράς εν τη Ιδουμαία· καθ' όλην την Ιδουμαίαν έβαλε φρουράς· και πάντες οι Ιδουμαίοι έγειναν δούλοι του Δαβίδ. Και έσωζεν ο Κύριος τον Δαβίδ πανταχού όπου επορεύετο.

And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David's servants. And the LORD preserved David anywhere he went.

15 Και εβασίλευσεν ο Δαβίδ επί πάντα τον Ισραήλ· και έκαμεν ο Δαβίδ κρίσιν και δικαιοσύνην εις πάντα τον λαόν αυτού.

And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people.

16 Και Ιωάβ, ο υιός της Σερουΐας, ήτο επί του στρατεύματος· Ιωσαφάτ δε, ο υιός του Αχιλούδ, υπομνηματογράφος·

And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;

17 και Σαδώκ, ο υιός του Αχιτώβ, και Αχιμέλεχ, ο υιός του Αβιάθαρ, ιερείς· ο δε Σεραΐας, γραμματεύς.

And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Seraiah was the scribe;

18 Και Βεναΐας, ο υιός του Ιωδαέ, ήτο επί των Χερεθαίων και επί των Φελεθαίων· οι δε υιοί του Δαβίδ ήσαν αυλάρχαι.

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief rulers.
