Βασιλειῶν Βʹ 24

1 Και εξήφθη πάλιν η οργή του Κυρίου εναντίον του Ισραήλ, και διήγειρε τον Δαβίδ εναντίον αυτών να είπη, Ύπαγε, αρίθμησον τον Ισραήλ και τον Ιούδαν.

And the strong veniaunce of the Lord addide to be wrooth ayens Israel, and he stiride in hem Dauid, seiynge to Joab, Go thou, and noumbre thou Israel and Juda.

2 Και είπεν ο βασιλεύς προς τον Ιωάβ, τον αρχηγόν του στρατεύματος, όστις ήτο μετ' αυτού· Δίελθε τώρα πάσας τας φυλάς του Ισραήλ, από Δαν έως Βηρ-σαβεέ, και απαρίθμησον τον λαόν, διά να μάθω τον αριθμόν του λαού.

And the kyng seide to Joab, the prince of his oost, Go thou bi alle lynagis of Israel fro Dan `til to Bersabee, and noumbre thou the puple, that Y wite the noumbre therof.

3 Και είπεν ο Ιωάβ προς τον βασιλέα, Είθε Κύριος ο Θεός σου να προσθέση εις τον λαόν εκατονταπλάσιον αφ' ό, τι είναι, και να ίδωσιν οι οφθαλμοί του κυρίου μου του βασιλέως· πλην διά τι ο κύριός μου ο βασιλεύς επιθυμεί το πράγμα τούτο;

And Joab seide to the kyng, Thi Lord God encresse to this puple, `hou greet it is now, and eft multiplie he an hundrid fold in the siyt of my lord the kyng; but what wole my lord the kyng to hym silf in sich a thing?

4 Ο λόγος όμως του βασιλέως υπερίσχυσεν επί τον Ιωάβ και επί τους αρχηγούς του στρατεύματος· και ήλθεν ο Ιωάβ και οι αρχηγοί του στρατεύματος απ' έμπροσθεν του βασιλέως, διά να απαριθμήσωσι τον λαόν τον Ισραήλ.

Sotheli the word of the kyng ouer cam the wordis of Joab, and of the princes of the oost; and Joab yede out, and the princes of the knyytis, fro the face of the kyng, that thei schulden noumbre the puple of Israel.

5 Και διέβησαν τον Ιορδάνην και εστρατοπέδευσαν εν Αροήρ, εκ των δεξιών της πόλεως, της εν μέσω της φάραγγος Γαδ, και προς Ιαζήρ.

And whanne thei hadden passid Jordan, thei camen in to Aroer, to the riyt side of the citee which is in the valei of Gad;

6 Έπειτα ήλθον εις Γαλαάδ και εις την γην Ταχτίμ-οδσεί· και ήλθον εις Δαν-ιαάν και πέριξ, έως της Σιδώνος·

and thei passiden bi Jazer in to Galaad, and in to the lowere lond of Odsi, and camen in to the wodi places of Dan; and thei cumpassiden bisidis Sidon,

7 και ήλθον εις το φρούριον της Τύρου και εις πάσας τας πόλεις των Ευαίων και των Χαναναίων· και εξήλθον κατά το νότιον του Ιούδα εις Βηρ-σαβεέ.

and passiden nyy the wallis of Tire, and nyy al the lond of Euei, and of Chananei; and thei camen to the south of Juda, in Bersabee.

8 Αφού δε περιώδευσαν πάσαν την γην, ήλθον εις Ιερουσαλήμ, εις το τέλος εννέα μηνών και είκοσι ημερών.

And whanne al the lond was cumpassid, thei camen aftir nyne monethis and twenti daies in to Jerusalem.

9 Και έδωκεν ο Ιωάβ εις τον βασιλέα το κεφάλαιον της απαριθμήσεως του λαού· και ήσαν ο Ισραήλ οκτακόσιαι χιλιάδες άνδρες δυνάμεως σύροντες ρομφαίαν· και οι άνδρες του Ιούδα πεντακόσιαι χιλιάδες.

Therfor Joab yaf the noumbre of discriuyng of the puple to the kyng. And of Israel weren foundun nyne hundryd thousynd of stronge men, that drewen out swerd; and of Juda fyue hundrid thousynde of fiyteris.

10 Και η καρδία του Δαβίδ εκτύπησεν αυτόν, αφού απηρίθμησε τον λαόν. Και είπεν ο Δαβίδ προς τον Κύριον, Ημάρτησα σφόδρα, πράξας τούτο· και τώρα, δέομαί σου, Κύριε, αφαίρεσον την ανομίαν του δούλου σου, ότι εμωράνθην σφόδρα.

Forsothe the herte of Dauid smoot hym, `that is, his concience repreuyde hym, aftir that the puple was noumbrid; and Dauid seide to the Lord, Y synnede greetli in this dede; but, Lord, Y preye that thou turne awei the wickidnesse of thi seruaunt, for Y dide ful folili.

11 Και ότε εσηκώθη ο Δαβίδ το πρωΐ, ο λόγος του Κυρίου ήλθε προς τον Γαδ τον προφήτην, τον βλέποντα του Δαβίδ, λέγων,

Therfor Dauid roos eerli, and the word of the Lord was maad to Gad, the prophete and seere, and seide, Go thou,

12 Ύπαγε και ειπέ προς τον Δαβίδ, ούτω λέγει Κύριος· Τρία πράγματα εγώ προβάλλω εις σέ· έκλεξον εις σεαυτόν εν εκ τούτων, και θέλω σοι κάμει αυτό.

and speke to Dauid, The Lord seith these thingis, The chesyng of thre thingis is youun to thee; chese thou oon, which thou wolt of these, that Y do to thee.

13 Ήλθε λοιπόν ο Γαδ προς τον Δαβίδ και ανήγγειλε προς αυτόν και είπε προς αυτόν, Θέλεις να επέλθωσιν εις σε επτά έτη πείνης επί την γην σου; ή τρεις μήνας να φεύγης απ' έμπροσθεν των εχθρών σου και να σε διώκωσιν; ή τρεις ημέρας να ήναι θανατικόν εν τη γη σου; τώρα συλλογίσθητι, και ιδέ ποίαν απόκρισιν θέλω φέρει προς τον αποστείλαντά με.

And whanne Gad hadde come to Dauid, he telde to Dauid, and seide, Ether hungur schal come to thee in thi lond seuene yeer; ethir thre monethis thou schalt fle thin aduersaries, and thei schulen pursue thee; ether certis thre daies pestilence schal be in thi lond; now therfor delyuere thou, `ether auyse thou, and se, what word Y schal answere to hym that sente me.

14 Και είπεν ο Δαβίδ προς τον Γαδ, Στενά μοι πανταχόθεν σφόδρα· ας πέσω λοιπόν εις την χείρα του Κυρίου, διότι είναι πολλοί οι οικτιρμοί αυτού· εις χείρα δε ανθρώπου ας μη πέσω.

Forsothe Dauid seide to Gad, Y am constreyned on ech side greetli; but it is betere that Y falle in to the hondis of the Lord, for his emercies ben manye, than in the hondis of men.

15 Απέστειλε λοιπόν ο Κύριος θανατικόν επί τον Ισραήλ, από πρωΐας μέχρι του διωρισμένου καιρού· και απέθανον εκ του λαού, από Δαν έως Βηρ-σαβεέ, εβδομήκοντα χιλιάδες ανδρών.

And the Lord sente pestilence in to Israel fro the morewtid `til to the tyme ordeyned; and seuenti thousynde of men weren deed of the puple fro Dan `til to Bersabee.

16 Και ότε ο άγγελος εξέτεινε την χείρα αυτού κατά της Ιερουσαλήμ, διά να απολέση αυτήν, μετεμελήθη ο Κύριος περί του κακού, και είπε προς τον άγγελον, όστις έκαμεν εν τω λαώ την φθοράν, Αρκεί ήδη· σύρε την χείρα σου. Ήτο δε ο άγγελος του Κυρίου πλησίον του αλωνίου του Ορνά του Ιεβουσαίου.

And whanne the aungel of the Lord hadde holde forth his hond ouer Jerusalem, that he schulde distrie it, the Lord hadde mercy on the turmentyng; and seide to the aungel smytynge the puple, It sufficith now; withholde thin hond. Forsothe the aungel of the Lord was bisidis the corn floor of Areuna Jebusey.

17 Και ελάλησεν ο Δαβίδ προς τον Κύριον, ότε είδε τον άγγελον τον θανατόνοντα τον λαόν, και είπεν, Ιδού, εγώ ήμαρτον και εγώ ηνόμησα· ταύτα δε τα πρόβατα τι έπραξαν; κατ' εμού λοιπόν έστω η χειρ σου και κατά του οίκου του πατρός μου.

And Dauid seide to the Lord, whanne he hadde seyn the aungel sleynge the puple, Y am he that `haue synned, and Y dide wickidli; what han these do, that ben scheep? Y biseche, thin hond be turned ayens me, and ayens the hows of my fadir.

18 Και ήλθεν ο Γαδ την ημέραν εκείνην προς τον Δαβίδ και είπε προς αυτόν, Ανάβα, στήσον θυσιαστήριον εις τον Κύριον εν τω αλωνίω Ορνά του Ιεβουσαίου.

Forsothe Gad, the prophete, cam to Dauid in that dai, and seide to hym, Stie thou, and ordeyne an auter to the Lord in the corn floor of Areuna Jebusei.

19 Και ανέβη ο Δαβίδ κατά τον λόγον του Γαδ, ως προσέταξεν ο Κύριος.

And Dauid stiede, vpe the word of Gad, which the Lord hadde comaundid to hym.

20 Και ανέβλεψεν ο Ορνά και είδε τον βασιλέα και τους δούλους αυτού ερχομένους προς αυτόν· και εξήλθεν ο Ορνά και προσεκύνησε τον βασιλέα κατά πρόσωπον αυτού έως εδάφους.

And Areuna bihelde, and perseyuede, that the kyng and hise seruauntis passiden to hym;

21 Και είπεν ο Ορνά, Διά τι ήλθεν ο κύριός μου ο βασιλεύς προς τον δούλον αυτού; Και είπεν ο Δαβίδ, Διά να αγοράσω το αλώνιον παρά σου, διά να οικοδομήσω θυσιαστήριον εις τον Κύριον, και να σταθή η πληγή από του λαού.

and he yede out, and worschipide the kyng bi low cheer to the erthe; and seide, What `cause is, that my lord the kyng cometh to his seruaunt? To whom Dauid seide, That Y bie of thee the corn floor, and bilde an auter to the Lord, and the sleynge ceesse, which is cruel in the puple.

22 Και είπεν ο Ορνά προς τον Δαβίδ, Ας λάβη ο κύριός μου ο βασιλεύς και ας προσφέρη εις θυσίαν ό, τι φαίνεται αρεστόν εις τους οφθαλμούς αυτού· ιδού, οι βόες εις ολοκαύτωμα και τα αλωνικά εργαλεία και τα εργαλεία των βοών διά ξύλα.

And Areuna seide to Dauid, My lord the kyng take, and offre, as it plesith hym; thou hast oxis in to brent sacrifice, and a wayn and yockis of oxis in to vss of wode.

23 Τα πάντα έδωκεν ο Ορνά, ως βασιλεύς, εις τον βασιλέα. Και είπεν ο Ορνά προς τον βασιλέα, Κύριος ο Θεός σου να ευαρεστηθή εις σε.

Areuna yaf alle thingis to the king. And Areuna seide to the king, Thi Lord God reseyue thi vow.

24 Και είπεν ο βασιλεύς προς τον Ορνά, Ουχί, αλλά θέλω εξάπαντος αγοράσει αυτό παρά σου διά αντιπληρωμής· διότι δεν θέλω προσφέρει ολοκαυτώματα εις Κύριον τον Θεόν μου δωρεάν. Και ηγόρασεν ο Δαβίδ το αλώνιον και τους βόας διά πεντήκοντα σίκλων αργυρίου.

To whom the king answeride, and seide, Not as thou wolt, but Y schal bie of thee for prijs, and Y schal not offre to `my Lord God brent sacrifices youun freli. Therfor Dauid bouyte the corn floor, and `he bouyte oxis for fifti siclis of siluer.

25 Και ωκοδόμησεν ο Δαβίδ εκεί θυσιαστήριον εις τον Κύριον, και προσέφερεν ολοκαυτώματα και ειρηνικάς προσφοράς. Και εξιλεώθη ο Κύριος προς την γην, και εστάθη η πληγή από του Ισραήλ.

And Dauid bildide there an auter to the Lord, and offride brent sacrifices and pesible sacrifices; and the Lord dide merci to the lond, and the veniaunce was refreyned fro Israel.
