Πετρου Β΄ 2
1 Υπήρξαν όμως και ψευδοπροφήται μεταξύ του λαού, καθώς και μεταξύ σας θέλουσιν είσθαι ψευδοδιδάσκαλοι, οίτινες θέλουσι παρεισάξει αιρέσεις απωλείας, αρνούμενοι και τον αγοράσαντα αυτούς δεσπότην, επισύροντες εις εαυτούς ταχείαν απώλειαν·
However, there were also false prophets among the people, just as, indeed, there will be false teachers among you, who will introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Owner who bought them (bringing on themselves swift destruction).
2 και πολλοί θέλουσιν εξακολουθήσει εις τας απωλείας αυτών, διά τους οποίους η οδός της αληθείας θέλει βλασφημηθή·
And many will follow their licentious ways, because of which the way of the Truth will be defamed.
3 και διά πλεονεξίαν θέλουσι σας εμπορευθή με πλαστούς λόγους, των οποίων η καταδίκη έκπαλαι δεν μένει αργή, και η απώλεια αυτών δεν νυστάζει.
And in covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; since way back the judgment for such people is not slack, and their destruction will not sleep.
4 Διότι εάν ο Θεός δεν εφείσθη αγγέλους αμαρτήσαντας, αλλά ρίψας αυτούς εις τον τάρταρον δεδεμένους με αλύσεις σκότους, παρέδωκε διά να φυλάττωνται εις κρίσιν, (Tartaroō g5020)
Because if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but delivered them into chains of darkness, confining them in Tartarus to be reserved for judgment, (Tartaroō g5020)
5 και εάν τον παλαιόν κόσμον δεν εφείσθη, αλλά φέρων κατακλυσμόν επί τον κόσμον των ασεβών εφύλαξεν όγδοον τον Νώε, κήρυκα της δικαιοσύνης,
and did not spare the ancient world but preserved Noah, with seven others, a preacher of righteousness, when He brought a flood on the world of the ungodly,
6 και κατέκρινεν εις καταστροφήν τας πόλεις των Σοδόμων και της Γομόρρας και ετέφρωσε, καταστήσας παράδειγμα των μελλόντων να ασεβώσι,
and condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction, reducing them to ashes (providing a warning to those who are intent on being ungodly),
7 και ηλευθέρωσε τον δίκαιον Λωτ καταθλιβόμενον υπό της ασελγούς διαγωγής των ανόμων·
while He rescued upright Lot, who was distressed by the licentious lifestyle of the wicked
8 διότι ο δίκαιος, κατοικών μεταξύ αυτών, δι' οράσεως και ακοής, εβασάνιζεν από ημέρας εις ημέραν την δικαίαν αυτού ψυχήν διά τα άνομα έργα αυτών·
(for that upright man, dwelling among them, tormented an upright soul from day to day by seeing and hearing lawless deeds)
9 εξεύρει ο Κύριος να ελευθερόνη εκ του πειρασμού τους ευσεβείς, τους δε αδίκους να φυλάττη εις την ημέραν της κρίσεως, διά να κολάζωνται,
—then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of testings and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment,
10 μάλιστα δε τους οπίσω της σαρκός ακολουθούντας με επιθυμίαν ακαθαρσίας και καταφρονούντας την εξουσίαν. Είναι τολμηταί, αυθάδεις, δεν τρέμουσι βλασφημούντες τα αξιώματα,
and especially those who go after the flesh in the lust for defilement, and despise authority. They are audacious, self-willed; they are not afraid to revile majestic beings,
11 ενώ οι άγγελοι, μεγαλήτεροι όντες εις ισχύν και δύναμιν, δεν φέρουσι κατ' αυτών βλάσφημον κρίσιν ενώπιον του Κυρίου.
whereas angels, though being greater in might and power, do not bring a reviling accusation against them before the Lord.
12 Ούτοι όμως, ως άλογα φυσικά ζώα γεγεννημένα διά άλωσιν και φθοράν, βλασφημούσι περί πραγμάτων τα οποία αγνοούσι, και θέλουσι καταφθαρή εν τη ιδία αυτών διαφθορά,
But these, as unreasoning animals, creatures of instinct made to be caught and destroyed, spouting off in matters of which they are ignorant, will be destroyed by their own depravity,
13 και θέλουσι λάβει τον μισθόν της αδικίας αυτών· στοχάζονται ηδονήν την καθημερινήν τρυφήν, είναι σπίλοι και μώμοι, εντρυφώσιν εν ταις απάταις αυτών, συμποσιάζουσι με σας,
receiving the wages of unrighteousness. Counting it a pleasure to carouse in the daytime, they are stains and blemishes, reveling in their own deceptions while they feast with you,
14 έχουσιν οφθαλμούς μεστούς μοιχείας και μη παυομένους από της αμαρτίας, δελεάζουσι ψυχάς αστηρίκτους, έχουσι την καρδίαν γεγυμνασμένην εις πλεονεξίας, είναι τέκνα κατάρας·
having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls; having a heart trained in greediness they are children of a curse;
15 αφήσαντες την ευθείαν οδόν, επλανήθησαν και ηκολούθησαν την οδόν του Βαλαάμ υιού του Βοσόρ, όστις ηγάπησε τον μισθόν της αδικίας,
having forsaken the right way they have gone astray, having followed the way of Balaam of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
16 ηλέγχθη όμως διά την ιδίαν αυτού παρανομίαν, άφωνον υποζύγιον με φωνήν ανθρώπου λαλήσαν ημπόδισε την παραφροσύνην του προφήτου.
but he got a rebuke for his wrongdoing—a mute donkey speaking with a human voice restrained the insanity of the prophet.
17 Ούτοι είναι πηγαί άνυδροι, νεφέλαι υπό ανεμοστροβίλου ελαυνόμεναι, διά τους οποίους το ζοφερόν σκότος φυλάττεται εις τον αιώνα. (questioned)
These are waterless springs, clouds driven by a storm, for whom the blackest of the darkness has been reserved forever. (questioned)
18 Διότι λαλούντες υπερήφανα λόγια ματαιότητος, δελεάζουσι με τας επιθυμίας της σαρκός, με τας ασελγείας εκείνους οίτινες τωόντι απέφυγον τους εν πλάνη ζώντας,
Because speaking pompous words of emptiness they entice through fleshly lusts, through licentiousness, those who have actually escaped from those who are living in error,
19 επαγγελλόμενοι εις αυτούς ελευθερίαν, ενώ αυτοί είναι δούλοι της διαφθοράς· διότι από όντινα νικάταί τις, τούτου και δούλος γίνεται.
promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage.
20 Επειδή εάν αφού απέφυγον τα μολύσματα του κόσμου διά της επιγνώσεως του Κυρίου και Σωτήρος Ιησού Χριστού, ενεπλέχθησαν πάλιν εις ταύτα και νικώνται, έγειναν εις αυτούς τα έσχατα χειρότερα των πρώτων.
For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the real knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter circumstances have become worse for them than the first ones.
21 Επειδή καλήτερον ήτο εις αυτούς να μη γνωρίσωσι την οδόν της δικαιοσύνης, παρά αφού εγνώρισαν να επιστρέψωσιν εκ της παραδοθείσης εις αυτούς αγίας εντολής.
For it would have been better for them not to have really known the way of the righteousness, than having really known it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them.
22 Συνέβη δε εις αυτούς το της αληθινής παροιμίας, Ο κύων επέστρεψεν εις το ίδιον αυτού εξέρασμα, και, Ο χοίρος λουσθείς επέστρεψεν εις το κύλισμα του βορβόρου.
But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: a dog returns to its own vomit and a bathed sow to wallowing in mud.
