Παραλειπομένων Βʹ 18

1 Και είχεν ο Ιωσαφάτ πλούτον και δόξαν πολλήν· και εσυμπενθέρευσε μετά του Αχαάβ.

Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, and joined affinity with Ahab.

2 Μετά δε χρόνους κατέβη προς τον Αχαάβ εις την Σαμάρειαν Και έσφαξεν ο Αχαάβ πρόβατα και βόας εν αφθονία δι' αυτόν και διά τον λαόν τον μετ' αυτού, και κατέπεισεν αυτόν να συναναβή εις Ραμώθ-γαλαάδ.

And after [certain] years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. And Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people that [he had] with him, and persuaded him to go up [with him] to Ramoth-gilead.

3 Και είπεν Αχαάβ ο βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ προς Ιωσαφάτ τον βασιλέα του Ιούδα, Έρχεσαι μετ' εμού εις Ραμώθ-γαλαάδ; Ο δε απεκρίθη προς αυτόν, Εγώ είμαι καθώς συ, και ο λαός μου καθώς ο λαός σου· και θέλομεν είσθαι μετά σου εν τω πολέμω.

And Ahab king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Wilt thou go with me to Ramoth-gilead? And he answered him, I [am] as thou [art], and my people as thy people; and [we will be] with thee in the war.

4 Και είπεν ο Ιωσαφάτ προς τον βασιλέα του Ισραήλ, Ερώτησον σήμερον, παρακαλώ, τον λόγον του Κυρίου.

And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.

5 Και συνήθροισεν ο βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ τους προφήτας, τετρακοσίους άνδρας, και είπε προς αυτούς, να υπάγωμεν εις Ραμώθ-γαλαάδ, διά να πολεμήσωμεν; ή να απέχω; Οι δε είπον, Ανάβα, και θέλει παραδώσει ο Θεός αυτήν εις την χείρα του βασιλέως.

Therefore the king of Israel gathered together of prophets four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for God will deliver [it] into the king’s hand.

6 Και είπεν ο Ιωσαφάτ, Δεν είναι ενταύθα έτι προφήτης του Κυρίου, διά να ερωτήσωμεν δι' αυτού;

But Jehoshaphat said, [Is there] not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?

7 Και είπεν ο βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ προς τον Ιωσαφάτ, είναι έτι άνθρωπός τις, διά του οποίου δυνάμεθα να ερωτήσωμεν τον Κύριον· πλην εγώ μισώ αυτόν· διότι δεν προφητεύει καλόν περί εμού αλλά πάντοτε κακόν· είναι ο Μιχαΐας ο υιός του Ιεμλά. Και είπεν ο Ιωσαφάτ, Ας μη λαλή ο βασιλεύς ούτως.

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, [There is] yet one man, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he never prophesied good unto me, but always evil: the same [is] Micaiah the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

8 Και εκάλεσεν ο βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ ένα ευνούχον και είπε, Σπεύσον να φέρης Μιχαΐαν τον υιόν του Ιεμλά.

And the king of Israel called for one [of his] officers, and said, Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imla.

9 Ο δε βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ και Ιωσαφάτ ο βασιλεύς του Ιούδα εκάθηντο, έκαστος επί του θρόνου αυτού, ενδεδυμένοι στολαίς, και εκάθηντο εν τόπω ανοικτώ, κατά την είσοδον της πύλης της Σαμαρείας· και πάντες οι προφήται προεφήτευον έμπροσθεν αυτών.

And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah sat either of them on his throne, clothed in [their] robes, and they sat in a void place at the entering in of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.

10 Και Σεδεκίας ο υιός του Χαναανά είχε κάμει εις εαυτόν κέρατα σιδηρά και είπεν, ούτω λέγει Κύριος· Διά τούτων θέλεις κερατίσει τους Συρίους, εωσού συντελέσης αυτούς.

And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah had made him horns of iron, and said, Thus saith the LORD, With these thou shalt push Syria until they be consumed.

11 Και πάντες οι προφήται προεφήτευον ούτω, λέγοντες, Ανάβα εις Ραμώθ-γαλαάδ και ευοδού· διότι ο Κύριος θέλει παραδώσει αυτήν εις την χείρα του βασιλέως.

And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver [it] into the hand of the king.

12 Και ο μηνυτής, όστις υπήγε να καλέση τον Μιχαΐαν, είπε προς αυτόν, λέγων, Ιδού, οι λόγοι των προφητών φανερόνουσιν εξ ενός στόματος καλόν περί του βασιλέως· ο λόγος σου λοιπόν ας ήναι, παρακαλώ, ως ενός εξ εκείνων, και λάλησον το καλόν.

And the messenger that went to call Micaiah spake to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets [declare] good to the king with one assent; let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speak thou good.

13 Ο δε Μιχαΐας είπε, Ζη Κύριος, ό,τι μοι είπη ο Θεός μου, τούτο θέλω λαλήσει.

And Micaiah said, [As] the LORD liveth, even what my God saith, that will I speak.

14 Ήλθε λοιπόν προς τον βασιλέα, και είπεν ο βασιλεύς προς αυτόν, Μιχαΐα, να υπάγωμεν εις Ραμώθ-γαλαάδ διά να πολεμήσωμεν; ή να απέχω; Ο δε είπεν, Ανάβητε και ευοδούσθε, διότι θέλουσι παραδοθή εις την χείρα σας.

And when he was come to the king, the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And he said, Go ye up, and prosper, and they shall be delivered into your hand.

15 Και είπε προς αυτόν ο βασιλεύς, Έως ποσάκις θέλω σε ορκίζει να μη λέγης προς εμέ παρά την αλήθειαν εν ονόματι Κυρίου;

And the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou say nothing but the truth to me in the name of the LORD?

16 Ο δε είπεν· είδον πάντα τον Ισραήλ διεσπαρμένον επί τα όρη, ως πρόβατα μη έχοντα ποιμένα· και είπε Κύριος, Ούτοι δεν έχουσι κύριον· ας επιστρέψωσιν έκαστος εις τον οίκον αυτού εν ειρήνη.

Then he said, I did see all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master; let them return [therefore] every man to his house in peace.

17 Και είπεν ο βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ προς τον Ιωσαφάτ, Δεν σοι είπα ότι δεν θέλει προφητεύσει καλόν περί εμού, αλλά κακόν;

And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee [that] he would not prophesy good unto me, but evil?

18 Και ο Μιχαΐας είπεν, Ακούσατε λοιπόν τον λόγον του Κυρίου· είδον τον Κύριον καθήμενον επί του θρόνου αυτού και πάσαν την στρατιάν του ουρανού παρισταμένην εκ δεξιών αυτού και εξ αριστερών αυτού.

Again he said, Therefore hear the word of the LORD; I saw the LORD sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and [on] his left.

19 Και είπε ο Κύριος, Τις θέλει απατήσει Αχαάβ τον βασιλέα του Ισραήλ, ώστε να αναβή και να πέση εν Ραμώθ-γαλαάδ; Και ο μεν ελάλησε λέγων ούτως, ο δε λέγων ούτως.

And the LORD said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one spake saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner.

20 Τότε εξήλθε το πνεύμα και εστάθη ενώπιον Κυρίου και είπεν, Εγώ θέλω απατήσει αυτόν. Και είπε Κύριος προς αυτό, Τίνι τρόπω;

Then there came out a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will entice him. And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith?

21 Και είπε, Θέλω εξέλθει και θέλω είσθαι πνεύμα ψεύδους εν τω στόματι πάντων των προφητών αυτού. Και είπε Κύριος, Θέλεις απατήσει και μάλιστα θέλεις κατορθώσει· έξελθε και κάμε ούτω.

And he said, I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And [the Lord] said, Thou shalt entice [him], and thou shalt also prevail: go out, and do [even] so.

22 Τώρα λοιπόν, ιδού, ο Κύριος έβαλε πνεύμα ψεύδους εν τω στόματι τούτων των προφητών σου, και ελάλησε Κύριος κακόν επί σε.

Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee.

23 Τότε πλησιάσας Σεδεκίας ο υιός του Χαναανά, ερράπισε τον Μιχαΐαν επί την σιαγόνα και είπε, Διά ποίας οδού επέρασε το πνεύμα του Κυρίου απ' εμού, διά να λαλήση προς σε;

Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and smote Micaiah upon the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee?

24 Και είπεν ο Μιχαΐας, Ιδού, θέλεις ιδεί καθ' ην ημέραν θέλεις εισέρχεσθαι από ταμείου εις ταμείον, διά να κρυφθής.

And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see on that day when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.

25 Και είπεν ο βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ, Πιάσατε τον Μιχαΐαν και επαναφέρετε αυτόν προς Αμών τον άρχοντα της πόλεως, και προς Ιωάς τον υιόν του βασιλέως,

Then the king of Israel said, Take ye Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;

26 και είπατε, Ούτω λέγει ο βασιλεύς· Βάλετε τούτον εις την φυλακήν και τρέφετε αυτόν με άρτον θλίψεως και με ύδωρ θλίψεως, εωσού επιστρέψω εν ειρήνη.

And say, Thus saith the king, Put this [fellow] in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace.

27 Και είπεν ο Μιχαΐας, Εάν τωόντι επιστρέψης εν ειρήνη, ο Κύριος δεν ελάλησε δι' εμού. Και είπεν, Ακούσατε σεις, πάντες οι λαοί.

And Micaiah said, If thou certainly return in peace, [then] hath not the LORD spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, all ye people.

28 Και ανέβη ο βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ και Ιωσαφάτ ο βασιλεύς του Ιούδα εις Ραμώθ-γαλαάδ.

So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.

29 Και είπεν ο βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ προς τον Ιωσαφάτ, Εγώ θέλω μετασχηματισθή και εισέλθει εις την μάχην· συ δε ενδύθητι την στολήν σου. Και μετεσχηματίσθη ο βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ και εισήλθον εις την μάχην.

And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and will go to the battle; but put thou on thy robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went to the battle.

30 Ο δε βασιλεύς της Συρίας είχε προστάξει τους άρχοντας των αμαξών αυτού, λέγων, Μη πολεμείτε μήτε μικρόν μήτε μέγαν, αλλά μόνον τον βασιλέα του Ισραήλ.

Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of the chariots that [were] with him, saying, Fight ye not with small or great, save only with the king of Israel.

31 Και ως είδον οι άρχοντες των αμαξών τον Ιωσαφάτ, τότε αυτοί είπον, Ούτος είναι ο βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ· και περιεκύκλωσαν αυτόν διά να πολεμήσωσιν αυτόν· αλλ' ο Ιωσαφάτ ανεβόησε, και εβοήθησεν αυτόν ο Κύριος· και απέστρεψεν αυτούς ο Θεός απ' αυτού.

And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It [is] the king of Israel. Therefore they compassed about him to fight: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him; and God moved them [to depart] from him.

32 Ιδόντες δε οι άρχοντες των αμαξών ότι δεν ήτο ο βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ, επέστρεψαν από της καταδιώξεως αυτού.

For it came to pass, that, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back again from pursuing him.

33 Άνθρωπος δε τις, τοξεύσας ασκόπως, εκτύπησε τον βασιλέα του Ισραήλ μεταξύ των αρθρώσεων του θώρακος· ο δε είπεν προς τον ηνίοχον, Στρέψον την χείρα σου και έκβαλέ με εκ του στρατεύματος, διότι επληγώθην.

And a [certain] man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: therefore he said to his chariot man, Turn thine hand, that thou mayest carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.

34 Και εμεγαλύνθη η μάχη εν τη ημέρα εκείνη· ο δε βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ ίστατο επί της αμάξης αντικρύ των Συρίων έως εσπέρα, · και περί την δύσιν του ηλίου απέθανε.

And the battle increased that day: howbeit the king of Israel stayed [himself] up in [his] chariot against the Syrians until the even: and about the time of the sun going down he died.
