Βασιλειῶν Αʹ 26
1 Ήλθον δε οι Ζιφαίοι προς τον Σαούλ εις Γαβαά, λέγοντες, Δεν κρύπτεται ο Δαβίδ εν τω βουνώ Εχελά απέναντι Γεσιμών;
And the Ziphites came unto Saul in Gibeah, saying, —Is not David hiding himself in the hill of Hachilah, overlooking Jeshimon?
2 Και εσηκώθη ο Σαούλ και κατέβη εις την έρημον Ζιφ, έχων μεθ' εαυτού τρεις χιλιάδας ανδρών εκλεκτών εκ του Ισραήλ, διά να ζητή τον Δαβίδ εν τη ερήμω Ζιφ.
Then Saul arose, and went down into the wilderness of Ziph, and, with him, three thousand chosen men of Israel, —to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.
3 Και εστρατοπέδευσεν ο Σαούλ επί του βουνού Εχελά, του απέναντι Γεσιμών, πλησίον της οδού. Ο δε Δαβίδ εκάθητο εν τη ερήμω και είδεν ότι ο Σαούλ ήρχετο κατόπιν αυτού εις την έρημον.
And Saul encamped in the hill of Hachilah, which overlooketh Jeshimon, by the way, —but, David, was staying in the wilderness, so he saw that Saul was coming after him into the wilderness.
4 Όθεν απέστειλεν ο Δαβίδ κατασκόπους και έμαθεν ότι ο Σαούλ ήλθε τωόντι.
David therefore sent runners, —and took knowledge that Saul had come, for a certainty.
5 Και σηκωθείς ο Δαβίδ ήλθεν εις τον τόπον όπου ο Σαούλ είχε στρατοπεδεύσει· και παρετήρησεν ο Δαβίδ τον τόπον όπου εκοιμάτο ο Σαούλ, και Αβενήρ ο υιός του Νηρ, ο αρχιστράτηγος αυτού· εκοιμάτο δε ο Σαούλ εντός του περιβόλου, και ο λαός ήτο εστρατοπεδευμένος κύκλω αυτού.
So then David arose, and came to the place where Saul had encamped, and David saw the place where Saul was lying, with Abner, son of Ner, prince of his host, —and, Saul, was lying within the circular trench, with, the people, encamped round about him.
6 Τότε ελάλησεν ο Δαβίδ και είπε προς τον Αχιμέλεχ τον Χετταίον και προς τον Αβισαί τον υιόν της Σερουΐας, αδελφόν του Ιωάβ, λέγων, Τις θέλει καταβή μετ' εμού προς τον Σαούλ εις το στρατόπεδον; Και είπεν ο Αβισαί, Εγώ θέλω καταβή μετά σου.
And David responded, and said unto Ahimelech the Hittite, and unto Abishai son of Zeruiah, brother of Joab, saying, Who will go down with me unto Saul, within the camp? And Abishai said, I, will go down with thee.
7 Ήλθον λοιπόν ο Δαβίδ και ο Αβισαί διά νυκτός προς τον λαόν· και ιδού, ο Σαούλ έκειτο κοιμώμενος εντός του περιβόλου, και το δόρυ αυτού εμπεπηγμένον εις την γην προς την κεφαλήν αυτού· ο δε Αβενήρ και ο λαός εκοιμώντο κύκλω αυτού.
So David came, with Abishai, unto the people by night, and lo! Saul lying asleep, within the trench, and his spear stuck in the ground, at his head, —and Abner and the people lying round about him.
8 Τότε είπεν ο Αβισαί προς τον Δαβίδ, Ο Θεός απέκλεισε σήμερον εις την χείρα σου τον εχθρόν σου· τώρα λοιπόν ας πατάξω αυτόν διά του δόρατος έως της γης διά μιάς· και δεν θέλω δευτερώσει επ' αυτόν.
Then said Abishai unto David, God hath surrendered, to-day, thine enemy, into thy hand: Now, therefore, let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear to the earth, at one stroke, I, will not do it twice.
9 Αλλ' ο Δαβίδ είπε προς τον Αβισαί, Μη θανατώσης αυτόν· διότι τις επιβαλών την χείρα αυτού επί τον κεχρισμένον του Κυρίου θέλει είσθαι αθώος;
But David said unto Abishai, Do not destroy him, —for who that hath thrust forth his hand against the Anointed of Yahweh, shall be guiltless?
10 Είπε μάλιστα ο Δαβίδ, Ζη Κύριος, ο Κύριος θέλει πατάξει αυτόν· ή η ημέρα αυτού θέλει ελθεί, και θέλει αποθάνει· θέλει καταβή εις πόλεμον και θανατωθή·
And David said—By the life of Yahweh, surely, Yahweh himself, must smite him, —or, his day, must come that he die, or, into battle, must he go down, and be swept away.
11 μη γένοιτο εις εμέ παρά Κυρίου, να επιβάλω την χείρα μου επί τον κεχρισμένον του Κυρίου· λάβε όμως τώρα, παρακαλώ, το δόρυ το προς την κεφαλήν αυτού και το αγγείον του ύδατος, και ας αναχωρήσωμεν.
Far be it from me, of Yahweh, that I should thrust forth my hand against the anointed of Yahweh! Now, therefore, take, I pray thee, the spear that is at his head, and the cruse of water, and let us go our way.
12 Έλαβε λοιπόν ο Δαβίδ το δόρυ και το αγγείον του ύδατος από πλησίον της κεφαλής του Σαούλ· και ανεχώρησαν, και ουδείς είδε και ουδείς ενόησε και ουδείς εξύπνησε· διότι πάντες εκοιμώντο, επειδή βαθύς ύπνος παρά Κυρίου έπεσεν επ' αυτούς.
So David took the spear, and the cruse of water, from near the head of Saul, and they went their way, —and no man saw, and no man knew, and no man awoke, for all of them were sleeping, for, a deep sleep from Yahweh, had fallen upon them.
13 Τότε διέβη ο Δαβίδ εις το πέραν και εστάθη επί της κορυφής του όρους μακρόθεν· ήτο δε πολύ απόστασις μεταξύ αυτών.
Then David crossed over to the other side, and took his stand on the top of the mountain, afar off, —a great space, being between them.
14 Και εβόησεν ο Δαβίδ προς τον λαόν και προς τον Αβενήρ τον υιόν του Νηρ, λέγων, Δεν αποκρίνεσαι, Αβενήρ; Και απεκρίθη ο Αβενήρ και είπε, Τις είσαι συ, όστις βοάς προς τον βασιλέα;
And David cried aloud unto the people, and unto Abner son of Ner, saying, Wilt thou not answer, Abner? Then answered Abner, and said, Who art thou, that hast cried aloud unto the king?
15 Και είπεν ο Δαβίδ προς τον Αβενήρ, Δεν είσαι ανήρ συ; και τις όμοιός σου μεταξύ του Ισραήλ; διά τι λοιπόν δεν φυλάττεις τον κύριόν σου τον βασιλέα; διότι εισήλθέ τις εκ του λαού διά να θανατώση τον βασιλέα τον κύριόν σου·
And David said unto Abner—Art not thou, a man? Who indeed is like thee, in Israel? Wherefore, then, hast thou not kept watch over thy lord, the king? For one of the people hath entered, to destroy the king—thy lord.
16 δεν είναι καλόν το πράγμα τούτο, το οποίον έπραξας· ζη Κύριος, σεις είσθε άξιοι θανάτου, επειδή δε εφυλάξατε τον κύριόν σας, τον κεχρισμένον του Κυρίου. Και τώρα, ιδέτε που είναι το δόρυ του βασιλέως και το αγγείον του ύδατος· το προς την κεφαλήν αυτού.
Not good, is this thing which thou hast done, by the life of Yahweh, verily, worthy of death, ye are, in that ye have not kept watch over your lord, over, the Anointed of Yahweh. Now, therefore, see where the spear of the king is, and the cruse of water, that was at his head?
17 Και εγνώρισεν ο Σαούλ την φωνήν του Δαβίδ και είπεν, Η φωνή σου είναι, τέκνον μου Δαβίδ; Και ο Δαβίδ είπεν, Η φωνή μου, κύριέ μου βασιλεύ.
And Saul knew the voice of David, and said—Thy voice, is this, my son David? And David said, My voice, my lord O king!
18 Και είπε, Διά τι ο κύριός μου καταδιώκει ούτως οπίσω του δούλου αυτού; διότι τι έπραξα; ή τι κακόν είναι εν τη χειρί μου;
And he said, Wherefore is it, that my lord is in pursuit of his servant? For what have I done? or what is in my hand that is wrong?
19 τώρα λοιπόν ας ακούση, παρακαλώ, ο κύριός μου ο βασιλεύς τους λόγους του δούλου αυτού· εάν ο Κύριος σε διήγειρεν εναντίον μου, ας δεχθή θυσίαν· αλλ' εάν υιοί ανθρώπων, ούτοι ας ήναι επικατάρατοι ενώπιον του Κυρίου· διότι με εξέβαλον την σήμερον από του να κατοικώ εν τη κληρονομία του Κυρίου, λέγοντες, Ύπαγε, λάτρευε άλλους Θεούς·
Now, therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant, —If, Yahweh, have goaded thee on against me, let him accept the sweet smell of a gift, but, if the sons of men, accursed, they are before Yahweh, for they have driven me out, to-day, from joining myself with the inheritance of Yahweh, saying—Go, serve other gods!
20 τώρα λοιπόν, ας μη πέση το αίμα μου εις την γην ενώπιον του Κυρίου· διότι εξήλθεν ο βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ να ζητήση ένα ψύλλον, ως όταν καταδιώκη τις πέρδικα εις τα όρη.
Now, therefore, let not my blood fall to the earth, away from the presence of Yahweh, —for the king of Israel hath come out to hunt for a single flea, as when one pursueth a partridge among the mountains.
21 Και είπεν ο Σαούλ, Ημάρτησα· επίστρεψον, τέκνον μου Δαβίδ· διότι δεν θέλω σε κακοποιήσει πλέον, επειδή η ψυχή μου εστάθη σήμερον πολύτιμος εις τους οφθαλμούς σου· ιδού, έπραξα αφρόνως και επλανήθην σφόδρα.
Then said Saul—I have sinned, Return, my son David, for I will harm thee no more, because my life was precious in thine eyes, this day, —lo! I have acted foolishly and, greatly, erred.
22 Και απεκρίθη ο Δαβίδ και είπεν, Ιδού, το δόρυ του βασιλέως· και ας καταβή εις εκ των νέων και ας λάβη αυτό.
And David responded, and said, Lo! the spear of the king! Let, therefore, one of the young men come over, and fetch it.
23 ο δε Κύριος ας αποδώση εις έκαστον κατά την δικαιοσύνην αυτού και κατά την πίστιν αυτού· διότι σε παρέδωκεν ο Κύριος σήμερον εις την χείρα μου, πλην εγώ δεν ηθέλησα να επιβάλω την χείρα μου επί τον κεχρισμένον του Κυρίου.
And let, Yahweh, give back to each man, his righteousness, and his faithfulness, —in that Yahweh delivered thee, to-day, into my hand, but I would not thrust forth my hand against the Anointed of Yahweh.
24 ιδού λοιπόν, καθώς η ζωή σου εστάθη σήμερον πολύτιμος εις τους οφθαλμούς μου, ούτως η ζωή μου ας σταθή πολύτιμος εις τους οφθαλμούς του Κυρίου, και ας με ελευθερώση εκ πασών των θλίψεων.
Lo! then, as thy life was much set by this day in mine eyes, so, let my life be much set by in the eyes of Yahweh, and let him rescue me out of all tribulation.
25 Τότε είπεν ο Σαούλ προς τον Δαβίδ, Ευλογημένος να ήσαι, τέκνον μου Δαβίδ· βεβαίως θέλεις κατορθώσει μεγάλα και θέλεις βεβαίως υπερισχύσει. Και ο μεν Δαβίδ απήλθεν εις την οδόν αυτού, ο δε Σαούλ επέστρεψεν εις τον τόπον αυτού.
Then said Saul unto David—Blessed, be thou, my son David, thou shalt both, do, and shalt, prevail. And David went on his way, but, Saul, returned unto his own place.
