Παραλειπομένων Αʹ 14
1 Ο δε Χειράμ βασιλεύς της Τύρου απέστειλε πρέσβεις προς τον Δαβίδ, και ξύλα κέδρινα και κτίστας και ξυλουργούς, διά να οικοδομήσωσιν οίκον εις αυτόν.
And Churam the king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and trees of cedars, and masons and carpenters, to build him a house.
2 Και εγνώρισεν ο Δαβίδ, ότι ο Κύριος κατέστησεν αυτόν βασιλέα επί τον Ισραήλ, διότι η βασιλεία αυτού υψώθη εις ύψος, διά τον λαόν αυτού Ισραήλ.
And David felt conscious that the Lord had established him as king over Israel; for his kingdom was exalted on high, because of his people Israel.
3 Και έλαβεν ο Δαβίδ έτι γυναίκας εν Ιερουσαλήμ· και εγέννησεν έτι ο Δαβίδ υιούς και θυγατέρας.
And David took yet more wives at Jerusalem; and David begat more sons and daughters.
4 Ταύτα δε είναι τα ονόματα των τέκνων, τα οποία εγεννήθησαν εις αυτόν εν Ιερουσαλήμ· Σαμμουά και Σωβάβ, Νάθαν και Σολομών
And these are the names of the children that he had in Jerusalem: Shammua', and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
5 και Ιεβάρ και Ελισουά και Ελφαλέτ
And Yibchar, and Elishua', and Elpalet,
6 και Νωγά και Νεφέγ και Ιαφιά
And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Yaphia',
7 και Ελισαμά και Βεελιαδά και Ελιφαλέτ.
And Elishama', and Be'elyada', and Eliphalet.
8 Ακούσαντες δε οι Φιλισταίοι ότι ο Δαβίδ εχρίσθη βασιλεύς επί πάντα τον Ισραήλ, ανέβησαν πάντες οι Φιλισταίοι να ζητήσωσι τον Δαβίδ. Και ο Δαβίδ ακούσας, εξήλθεν εναντίον αυτών.
But when the Philistines heard that David had been anointed as king over all Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David: and David heard of it, and went out against them.
9 Και ήλθον οι Φιλισταίοι και διεχύθησαν εις την κοιλάδα Ραφαείμ.
And the Philistines came and spread themselves out in the valley of Rephaim.
10 Και ηρώτησεν ο Δαβίδ τον Θεόν, λέγων, να αναβώ εναντίον των Φιλισταίων; και θέλεις παραδώσει συ αυτούς εις την χείρα μου; Και ο Κύριος απεκρίθη προς αυτόν, Ανάβα· διότι θέλω παραδώσει αυτούς εις την χείρα σου.
And David asked counsel of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And the Lord said unto him, Go up; and I will deliver them into thy hand.
11 Και ανέβησαν εις Βάαλ-φερασείμ· και εκεί επάταξεν αυτούς ο Δαβίδ. Τότε είπεν ο Δαβίδ, Ο Θεός διέκοψε τους εχθρούς μου διά χειρός μου, καθώς διακόπτονται τα ύδατα· διά τούτο εκάλεσαν το όνομα του τόπου εκείνου Βάαλ-φερασείμ.
And they came up to Ba'al-perazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken down my enemies through my hand as a breach [is made] by water: therefore they called the name of that place Ba'al-perazim.
12 Και εκεί κατέλιπον τους θεούς αυτών· και ο Δαβίδ προσέταξε και κατεκαύθησαν εν πυρί.
And they left behind there their gods, and David gave the order, and they were burnt with fire.
13 Οι δε Φιλισταίοι και πάλιν διεχύθησαν εις την κοιλάδα·
And the Philistines [came] once again, and spread themselves out in the valley.
14 όθεν πάλιν ηρώτησεν ο Δαβίδ τον Θεόν· και ο Θεός είπε προς αυτόν, Μη αναβής οπίσω αυτών· αλλά στρέψον απ' αυτών και ύπαγε επ' αυτούς απέναντι των συκαμίνων.
And David asked again counsel of God; and God said unto him, Thou shalt not go up after them: turn about from them, and come upon them opposite the mulberry-trees,
15 Και όταν ακούσης θόρυβον διαβάσεως επί των κορυφών των συκαμίνων, τότε θέλεις εξέλθει εις την μάχην· διότι ο Θεός θέλει εξέλθει έμπροσθέν σου, διά να πατάξη το στρατόπεδον των Φιλισταίων.
And it shall be, when thou hearest the sound of walking on the tops of the mulberry-trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle; for God will be gone forth before thee to smite the camp of the Philistines.
16 Και έκαμεν ο Δαβίδ καθώς προσέταξεν εις αυτόν ο Θεός· και επάταξαν το στρατόπεδον των Φιλισταίων από Γαβαών έως Γεζέρ.
And David did as God had commanded him; and they smote the camp of the Philistines from Gib'on as far as Gezer.
17 Και το όνομα του Δαβίδ εξήλθεν εις πάντας τους τόπους· και ο Κύριος επέφερε τον φόβον αυτού επί πάντα τα έθνη.
And the fame of David went out into all the lands; and the Lord laid the dread of him upon all the nations.
