Ῥούθ 4
1 καὶ Βοος ἀνέβη ἐπὶ τὴν πύλην καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἐκεῖ καὶ ἰδοὺ ὁ ἀγχιστευτὴς παρεπορεύετο ὃν εἶπεν Βοος καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτὸν Βοος ἐκκλίνας κάθισον ὧδε κρύφιε καὶ ἐξέκλινεν καὶ ἐκάθισεν
And Boaz has gone up to the gate, and sits there, and behold, the redeemer is passing by of whom Boaz had spoken, and he says, “Turn aside, sit down here, such a one, such a one”; and he turns aside and sits down.
2 καὶ ἔλαβεν Βοος δέκα ἄνδρας ἀπὸ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων τῆς πόλεως καὶ εἶπεν καθίσατε ὧδε καὶ ἐκάθισαν
And he takes ten men from [the] elderly of the city, and says, “Sit down here”; and they sit down.
3 καὶ εἶπεν Βοος τῷ ἀγχιστεῖ τὴν μερίδα τοῦ ἀγροῦ ἥ ἐστιν τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ ἡμῶν τοῦ Αβιμελεχ ἣ δέδοται Νωεμιν τῇ ἐπιστρεφούσῃ ἐξ ἀγροῦ Μωαβ
And he says to the redeemer, “A portion of the field which [is] to our brother, to Elimelech, has Naomi sold, who has come back from the fields of Moab;
4 κἀγὼ εἶπα ἀποκαλύψω τὸ οὖς σου λέγων κτῆσαι ἐναντίον τῶν καθημένων καὶ ἐναντίον τῶν πρεσβυτέρων τοῦ λαοῦ μου εἰ ἀγχιστεύεις ἀγχίστευε εἰ δὲ μὴ ἀγχιστεύεις ἀνάγγειλόν μοι καὶ γνώσομαι ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν πάρεξ σοῦ τοῦ ἀγχιστεῦσαι κἀγώ εἰμι μετὰ σέ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν ἐγώ εἰμι ἀγχιστεύσω
and I said, I uncover your ear, saying, Buy before the inhabitants and before [the] elderly of my people; if you redeem—redeem, and if none redeems—declare [it] to me and I know, for there is none except you to redeem, and I after you.” And he says, “I redeem [it].”
5 καὶ εἶπεν Βοος ἐν ἡμέρᾳ τοῦ κτήσασθαί σε τὸν ἀγρὸν ἐκ χειρὸς Νωεμιν καὶ παρὰ Ρουθ τῆς Μωαβίτιδος γυναικὸς τοῦ τεθνηκότος καὶ αὐτὴν κτήσασθαί σε δεῖ ὥστε ἀναστῆσαι τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τεθνηκότος ἐπὶ τῆς κληρονομίας αὐτοῦ
And Boaz says, “In the day of your buying the field from the hand of Naomi, then from Ruth the Moabitess, wife of the dead, you have bought [it], to raise up the name of the dead over his inheritance.”
6 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ἀγχιστεύς οὐ δυνήσομαι ἀγχιστεῦσαι ἐμαυτῷ μήποτε διαφθείρω τὴν κληρονομίαν μου ἀγχίστευσον σεαυτῷ τὴν ἀγχιστείαν μου ὅτι οὐ δυνήσομαι ἀγχιστεῦσαι
And the redeemer says, “I am not able to redeem [it] for myself, lest I destroy my inheritance; redeem for yourself—you—my right of redemption, for I am not able to redeem.”
7 καὶ τοῦτο τὸ δικαίωμα ἔμπροσθεν ἐν τῷ Ισραηλ ἐπὶ τὴν ἀγχιστείαν καὶ ἐπὶ τὸ ἀντάλλαγμα τοῦ στῆσαι πᾶν λόγον καὶ ὑπελύετο ὁ ἀνὴρ τὸ ὑπόδημα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐδίδου τῷ πλησίον αὐτοῦ τῷ ἀγχιστεύοντι τὴν ἀγχιστείαν αὐτοῦ καὶ τοῦτο ἦν μαρτύριον ἐν Ισραηλ
And this [is] formerly in Israel for redemption and for exchanging, to establish anything: a man has drawn off his sandal, and given [it] to his neighbor, and this [is] the Testimony in Israel.
8 καὶ εἶπεν ὁ ἀγχιστεὺς τῷ Βοος κτῆσαι σεαυτῷ τὴν ἀγχιστείαν μου καὶ ὑπελύσατο τὸ ὑπόδημα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ
And the redeemer says to Boaz, “Buy [it] for yourself,” and draws off his sandal.
9 καὶ εἶπεν Βοος τοῖς πρεσβυτέροις καὶ παντὶ τῷ λαῷ μάρτυρες ὑμεῖς σήμερον ὅτι κέκτημαι πάντα τὰ τοῦ Αβιμελεχ καὶ πάντα ὅσα ὑπάρχει τῷ Χελαιων καὶ τῷ Μααλων ἐκ χειρὸς Νωεμιν
And Boaz says to the elderly, and [to] all the people, “You [are] witnesses today that I have bought all that [belonged] to Elimelech, and all that [belonged] to Chilion and Mahlon, from the hand of Naomi;
10 καί γε Ρουθ τὴν Μωαβῖτιν τὴν γυναῖκα Μααλων κέκτημαι ἐμαυτῷ εἰς γυναῖκα τοῦ ἀναστῆσαι τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τεθνηκότος ἐπὶ τῆς κληρονομίας αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἐξολεθρευθήσεται τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τεθνηκότος ἐκ τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐκ τῆς φυλῆς λαοῦ αὐτοῦ μάρτυρες ὑμεῖς σήμερον
and also Ruth the Moabitess, wife of Mahlon, I have bought to myself for a wife, to raise up the name of the dead over his inheritance; and the name of the dead is not cut off from among his brothers, and from the gate of his place; witnesses you [are] today.”
11 καὶ εἴποσαν πᾶς ὁ λαὸς οἱ ἐν τῇ πύλῃ μάρτυρες καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι εἴποσαν δῴη κύριος τὴν γυναῖκά σου τὴν εἰσπορευομένην εἰς τὸν οἶκόν σου ὡς Ραχηλ καὶ ὡς Λειαν αἳ ᾠκοδόμησαν ἀμφότεραι τὸν οἶκον Ισραηλ καὶ ἐποίησαν δύναμιν ἐν Εφραθα καὶ ἔσται ὄνομα ἐν Βαιθλεεμ
And all the people who [are] in the gate say—also the elderly, “Witnesses! YHWH makes the woman who is coming to your house as Rachel and as Leah, both of whom built the house of Israel; and you do virtuously in Ephrathah, and proclaim the name in Beth-Lehem;
12 καὶ γένοιτο ὁ οἶκός σου ὡς ὁ οἶκος Φαρες ὃν ἔτεκεν Θαμαρ τῷ Ιουδα ἐκ τοῦ σπέρματος οὗ δώσει κύριός σοι ἐκ τῆς παιδίσκης ταύτης
and let your house be as the house of Perez (whom Tamar bore to Judah), of the seed which YHWH gives to you of this young woman.”
13 καὶ ἔλαβεν Βοος τὴν Ρουθ καὶ ἐγενήθη αὐτῷ εἰς γυναῖκα καὶ εἰσῆλθεν πρὸς αὐτήν καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῇ κύριος κύησιν καὶ ἔτεκεν υἱόν
And Boaz takes Ruth, and she becomes his wife, and he goes in to her, and YHWH gives conception to her, and she bears a son.
14 καὶ εἶπαν αἱ γυναῖκες πρὸς Νωεμιν εὐλογητὸς κύριος ὃς οὐ κατέλυσέ σοι σήμερον τὸν ἀγχιστέα καὶ καλέσαι τὸ ὄνομά σου ἐν Ισραηλ
And the women say to Naomi, “Blessed [is] YHWH who has not let a redeemer cease to you today, and his name is proclaimed in Israel,
15 καὶ ἔσται σοι εἰς ἐπιστρέφοντα ψυχὴν καὶ τοῦ διαθρέψαι τὴν πολιάν σου ὅτι ἡ νύμφη σου ἡ ἀγαπήσασά σε ἔτεκεν αὐτόν ἥ ἐστιν ἀγαθή σοι ὑπὲρ ἑπτὰ υἱούς
and he has been to you for a restorer of life, and for a nourisher of your old age, for your daughter-in-law who has loved you—who is better to you than seven sons—has borne him.”
16 καὶ ἔλαβεν Νωεμιν τὸ παιδίον καὶ ἔθηκεν εἰς τὸν κόλπον αὐτῆς καὶ ἐγενήθη αὐτῷ εἰς τιθηνόν
And Naomi takes the boy, and lays him in her bosom, and is to him for a nurse;
17 καὶ ἐκάλεσαν αὐτοῦ αἱ γείτονες ὄνομα λέγουσαι ἐτέχθη υἱὸς τῇ Νωεμιν καὶ ἐκάλεσαν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ωβηδ οὗτος πατὴρ Ιεσσαι πατρὸς Δαυιδ
and the neighboring women give a name to him, saying, “There has been a son born to Naomi,” and they call his name Obed; he [is] father of Jesse, father of David.
18 καὶ αὗται αἱ γενέσεις Φαρες Φαρες ἐγέννησεν τὸν Εσρων
And these are generations of Perez: Perez begot Hezron,
19 Εσρων δὲ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Αρραν καὶ Αρραν ἐγέννησεν τὸν Αμιναδαβ
and Hezron begot Ram, and Ram begot Amminidab,
20 καὶ Αμιναδαβ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ναασσων καὶ Ναασσων ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σαλμαν
and Amminidab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon,
21 καὶ Σαλμαν ἐγέννησεν τὸν Βοος καὶ Βοος ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ωβηδ
and Salmon begot Boaz, and Boaz begot Obed,
22 καὶ Ωβηδ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ιεσσαι καὶ Ιεσσαι ἐγέννησεν τὸν Δαυιδ
and Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David.
