Ψαλμοί 136
1 αλληλουια ἐξομολογεῖσθε τῷ κυρίῳ ὅτι χρηστός ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
Thank Yahweh, because he does good things [for us]; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
2 ἐξομολογεῖσθε τῷ θεῷ τῶν θεῶν ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
Thank God, the one who is greater than all other gods; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
3 ἐξομολογεῖσθε τῷ κυρίῳ τῶν κυρίων ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
Thank the Lord who is greater than all other lords/rulers; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
4 τῷ ποιοῦντι θαυμάσια μεγάλα μόνῳ ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
He is the only one who performs great miracles; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
5 τῷ ποιήσαντι τοὺς οὐρανοὺς ἐν συνέσει ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
He is the one who by being very wise created the heavens; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
6 τῷ στερεώσαντι τὴν γῆν ἐπὶ τῶν ὑδάτων ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
He is the one who caused the ground to rise up above the deep waters; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
7 τῷ ποιήσαντι φῶτα μεγάλα μόνῳ ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
He is the one who created great lights [in the sky]; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
8 τὸν ἥλιον εἰς ἐξουσίαν τῆς ἡμέρας ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
He created the sun to shine in the daytime; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
9 τὴν σελήνην καὶ τὰ ἄστρα εἰς ἐξουσίαν τῆς νυκτός ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
He created the moon and stars to shine during the nighttime; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
10 τῷ πατάξαντι Αἴγυπτον σὺν τοῖς πρωτοτόκοις αὐτῶν ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
He is the one who killed the firstborn [males] in Egypt; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
11 καὶ ἐξαγαγόντι τὸν Ισραηλ ἐκ μέσου αὐτῶν ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
He led the Israeli people out of Egypt; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
12 ἐν χειρὶ κραταιᾷ καὶ ἐν βραχίονι ὑψηλῷ ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
With his (strong hand/great power) he led them out; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
13 τῷ καταδιελόντι τὴν ἐρυθρὰν θάλασσαν εἰς διαιρέσεις ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
He is the one who caused the Red Sea to divide; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
14 καὶ διαγαγόντι τὸν Ισραηλ διὰ μέσου αὐτῆς ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
He enabled the Israeli people to walk through it [on dry land]; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
15 καὶ ἐκτινάξαντι Φαραω καὶ τὴν δύναμιν αὐτοῦ εἰς θάλασσαν ἐρυθράν ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
But he caused the king of Egypt and his army to drown in it; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
16 τῷ διαγαγόντι τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ τῷ ἐξαγαγόντι ὕδωρ ἐκ πέτρας ἀκροτόμου ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
He is the one who led his people [safely through the desert]; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
17 τῷ πατάξαντι βασιλεῖς μεγάλους ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
He killed powerful kings; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
18 καὶ ἀποκτείναντι βασιλεῖς κραταιούς ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
He killed kings who were famous; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
19 τὸν Σηων βασιλέα τῶν Αμορραίων ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
He killed Sihon, the king of the Amor people-group; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
20 καὶ τὸν Ωγ βασιλέα τῆς Βασαν ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
He killed Og, the king of Bashan [region]; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
21 καὶ δόντι τὴν γῆν αὐτῶν κληρονομίαν ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
He gave their lands to us, his people; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
22 κληρονομίαν Ισραηλ δούλῳ αὐτοῦ ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
He gave those lands to us people of Israel, who serve him; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
23 ὅτι ἐν τῇ ταπεινώσει ἡμῶν ἐμνήσθη ἡμῶν ὁ κύριος ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
He is the one who did not forget about us when we were defeated [by our enemies]; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
24 καὶ ἐλυτρώσατο ἡμᾶς ἐκ τῶν ἐχθρῶν ἡμῶν ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
He rescued us from our enemies; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
25 ὁ διδοὺς τροφὴν πάσῃ σαρκί ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
He is the one who gives food to all living creatures; his faithful love [for us] endures forever.
26 ἐξομολογεῖσθε τῷ θεῷ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ ἐξομολογεῖσθε τῷ κυρίῳ τῶν κυρίων ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ
[So] thank God, [who lives in] heaven, [for all those things], because his faithful love [for us] endures forever!
