Ἀριθμοί 31

1 καὶ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων

And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

2 ἐκδίκει τὴν ἐκδίκησιν υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἐκ τῶν Μαδιανιτῶν καὶ ἔσχατον προστεθήσῃ πρὸς τὸν λαόν σου

'Execute the vengeance of the sons of Israel against the Midianites — afterwards thou art gathered unto thy people.'

3 καὶ ἐλάλησεν Μωυσῆς πρὸς τὸν λαὸν λέγων ἐξοπλίσατε ἐξ ὑμῶν ἄνδρας παρατάξασθαι ἔναντι κυρίου ἐπὶ Μαδιαν ἀποδοῦναι ἐκδίκησιν παρὰ τοῦ κυρίου τῇ Μαδιαν

And Moses speaketh unto the people, saying, 'Be ye armed some of you for the host, and they are against Midian, to put the vengeance of Jehovah on Midian;

4 χιλίους ἐκ φυλῆς χιλίους ἐκ φυλῆς ἐκ πασῶν φυλῶν Ισραηλ ἀποστείλατε παρατάξασθαι

a thousand for a tribe — a thousand for a tribe, to all the tribes of Israel — ye do send to the host.'

5 καὶ ἐξηρίθμησαν ἐκ τῶν χιλιάδων Ισραηλ χιλίους ἐκ φυλῆς δώδεκα χιλιάδες ἐνωπλισμένοι εἰς παράταξιν

And there are given out of the thousands of Israel a thousand for a tribe, twelve thousand armed ones of the host;

6 καὶ ἀπέστειλεν αὐτοὺς Μωυσῆς χιλίους ἐκ φυλῆς χιλίους ἐκ φυλῆς σὺν δυνάμει αὐτῶν καὶ Φινεες υἱὸν Ελεαζαρ υἱοῦ Ααρων τοῦ ἱερέως καὶ τὰ σκεύη τὰ ἅγια καὶ αἱ σάλπιγγες τῶν σημασιῶν ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν αὐτῶν

and Moses sendeth them, a thousand for a tribe, to the host, them and Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest, to the host; and the holy vessels, and the trumpets of the shouting, in his hand.

7 καὶ παρετάξαντο ἐπὶ Μαδιαν καθὰ ἐνετείλατο κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ καὶ ἀπέκτειναν πᾶν ἀρσενικόν

And they war against Midian, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses, and slay every male;

8 καὶ τοὺς βασιλεῖς Μαδιαν ἀπέκτειναν ἅμα τοῖς τραυματίαις αὐτῶν καὶ τὸν Ευιν καὶ τὸν Σουρ καὶ τὸν Ροκομ καὶ τὸν Ουρ καὶ τὸν Ροβοκ πέντε βασιλεῖς Μαδιαν καὶ τὸν Βαλααμ υἱὸν Βεωρ ἀπέκτειναν ἐν ῥομφαίᾳ σὺν τοῖς τραυματίαις αὐτῶν

and the kings of Midian they have slain, besides their pierced ones, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian; and Balaam son of Beor, they have slain with the sword.

9 καὶ ἐπρονόμευσαν τὰς γυναῖκας Μαδιαν καὶ τὴν ἀποσκευὴν αὐτῶν καὶ τὰ κτήνη αὐτῶν καὶ πάντα τὰ ἔγκτητα αὐτῶν καὶ τὴν δύναμιν αὐτῶν ἐπρονόμευσαν

And the sons of Israel take captive the women of Midian, and their infants; and all their cattle, and all their substance, and all their wealth they have plundered;

10 καὶ πάσας τὰς πόλεις αὐτῶν τὰς ἐν ταῖς οἰκίαις αὐτῶν καὶ τὰς ἐπαύλεις αὐτῶν ἐνέπρησαν ἐν πυρί

and all their cities, with their habitations, and all their towers, they have burnt with fire.

11 καὶ ἔλαβον πᾶσαν τὴν προνομὴν καὶ πάντα τὰ σκῦλα αὐτῶν ἀπὸ ἀνθρώπου ἕως κτήνους

And they take all the spoil, and all the prey, among man and among beast;

12 καὶ ἤγαγον πρὸς Μωυσῆν καὶ πρὸς Ελεαζαρ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ πρὸς πάντας υἱοὺς Ισραηλ τὴν αἰχμαλωσίαν καὶ τὰ σκῦλα καὶ τὴν προνομὴν εἰς τὴν παρεμβολὴν εἰς Αραβωθ Μωαβ ἥ ἐστιν ἐπὶ τοῦ Ιορδάνου κατὰ Ιεριχω

and they bring in, unto Moses, and unto Eleazar the priest, and unto the company of the sons of Israel, the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto the camp, unto the plains of Moab, which [are] by Jordan, [near] Jericho.

13 καὶ ἐξῆλθεν Μωυσῆς καὶ Ελεαζαρ ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ πάντες οἱ ἄρχοντες τῆς συναγωγῆς εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτοῖς ἔξω τῆς παρεμβολῆς

And Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the company, go out to meet them, unto the outside of the camp,

14 καὶ ὠργίσθη Μωυσῆς ἐπὶ τοῖς ἐπισκόποις τῆς δυνάμεως χιλιάρχοις καὶ ἑκατοντάρχοις τοῖς ἐρχομένοις ἐκ τῆς παρατάξεως τοῦ πολέμου

and Moses is wroth against the inspectors of the force, chiefs of the thousands, and chiefs of the hundreds, who are coming in from the host of the battle.

15 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Μωυσῆς ἵνα τί ἐζωγρήσατε πᾶν θῆλυ

And Moses saith unto them, 'Have ye kept alive every female?

16 αὗται γὰρ ἦσαν τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμα Βαλααμ τοῦ ἀποστῆσαι καὶ ὑπεριδεῖν τὸ ῥῆμα κυρίου ἕνεκεν Φογωρ καὶ ἐγένετο ἡ πληγὴ ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ κυρίου

lo, they — they have been to the sons of Israel, through the word of Balaam, to cause a trespass against Jehovah in the matter of Peor, and the plague is in the company of Jehovah.

17 καὶ νῦν ἀποκτείνατε πᾶν ἀρσενικὸν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ ἀπαρτίᾳ καὶ πᾶσαν γυναῖκα ἥτις ἔγνωκεν κοίτην ἄρσενος ἀποκτείνατε

'And now, slay ye every male among the infants, yea, every woman known of man by the lying of a male ye have slain;

18 πᾶσαν τὴν ἀπαρτίαν τῶν γυναικῶν ἥτις οὐκ οἶδεν κοίτην ἄρσενος ζωγρήσατε αὐτάς

and all the infants among the women, who have not known the lying of a male, ye have kept alive for yourselves.

19 καὶ ὑμεῖς παρεμβάλετε ἔξω τῆς παρεμβολῆς ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας πᾶς ὁ ἀνελὼν καὶ ὁ ἁπτόμενος τοῦ τετρωμένου ἁγνισθήσεται τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ τρίτῃ καὶ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἑβδόμῃ ὑμεῖς καὶ ἡ αἰχμαλωσία ὑμῶν

'And ye, encamp ye at the outside of the camp seven days — any who hath slain a person, and any who hath come against a pierced one, ye cleanse yourselves on the third day, and on the seventh day — ye and your captives;

20 καὶ πᾶν περίβλημα καὶ πᾶν σκεῦος δερμάτινον καὶ πᾶσαν ἐργασίαν ἐξ αἰγείας καὶ πᾶν σκεῦος ξύλινον ἀφαγνιεῖτε

and every garment, and every skin vessel, and every work of goats' [hair], and every wooden vessel, ye yourselves cleanse.'

21 καὶ εἶπεν Ελεαζαρ ὁ ἱερεὺς πρὸς τοὺς ἄνδρας τῆς δυνάμεως τοὺς ἐρχομένους ἐκ τῆς παρατάξεως τοῦ πολέμου τοῦτο τὸ δικαίωμα τοῦ νόμου ὃ συνέταξεν κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ

And Eleazar the priest saith unto the men of the host who go in to battle, 'This [is] the statute of the law which Jehovah hath commanded Moses:

22 πλὴν τοῦ χρυσίου καὶ τοῦ ἀργυρίου καὶ χαλκοῦ καὶ σιδήρου καὶ μολίβου καὶ κασσιτέρου

only, the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead,

23 πᾶν πρᾶγμα ὃ διελεύσεται ἐν πυρί καὶ καθαρισθήσεται ἀλλ’ ἢ τῷ ὕδατι τοῦ ἁγνισμοῦ ἁγνισθήσεται καὶ πάντα ὅσα ἐὰν μὴ διαπορεύηται διὰ πυρός διελεύσεται δῑ ὕδατος

every thing which may go into fire, ye cause to pass over through fire, and it hath been clean; only, with the water of separation it is cleansed, and all that may not go into fire, ye cause to pass over through water;

24 καὶ πλυνεῖσθε τὰ ἱμάτια τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἑβδόμῃ καὶ καθαρισθήσεσθε καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα εἰσελεύσεσθε εἰς τὴν παρεμβολήν

and ye have washed your garments on the seventh day, and have been clean, and afterwards ye come in unto the camp.'

25 καὶ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων

And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

26 λαβὲ τὸ κεφάλαιον τῶν σκύλων τῆς αἰχμαλωσίας ἀπὸ ἀνθρώπου ἕως κτήνους σὺ καὶ Ελεαζαρ ὁ ἱερεὺς καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες τῶν πατριῶν τῆς συναγωγῆς

'Take up the sum of the prey of the captives, among man and among beast, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the fathers of the company;

27 καὶ διελεῖτε τὰ σκῦλα ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν πολεμιστῶν τῶν ἐκπορευομένων εἰς τὴν παράταξιν καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον πάσης συναγωγῆς

and thou hast halved the prey between those handling the battle who go out to the host and all the company;

28 καὶ ἀφελεῖτε τέλος κυρίῳ παρὰ τῶν ἀνθρώπων τῶν πολεμιστῶν τῶν ἐκπεπορευμένων εἰς τὴν παράταξιν μίαν ψυχὴν ἀπὸ πεντακοσίων ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν κτηνῶν καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν βοῶν καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν προβάτων καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν αἰγῶν

and thou hast raised a tribute to Jehovah from the men of war, who go out to the host, one body out of five hundred, of man, and of the herd, and of the asses, and of the flock;

29 καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ ἡμίσους αὐτῶν λήμψεσθε καὶ δώσεις Ελεαζαρ τῷ ἱερεῖ τὰς ἀπαρχὰς κυρίου

from their half ye do take, and thou hast given to Eleazar the priest — the heave-offering of Jehovah.

30 καὶ ἀπὸ τοῦ ἡμίσους τοῦ τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ λήμψῃ ἕνα ἀπὸ τῶν πεντήκοντα ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν βοῶν καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν προβάτων καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ὄνων καὶ ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν κτηνῶν καὶ δώσεις αὐτὰ τοῖς Λευίταις τοῖς φυλάσσουσιν τὰς φυλακὰς ἐν τῇ σκηνῇ κυρίου

'And from the sons of Israel's half thou dost take one possession out of fifty, of man, of the herd, of the asses, and of the flock, of all the cattle, and thou hast given them to the Levites keeping the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah.'

31 καὶ ἐποίησεν Μωυσῆς καὶ Ελεαζαρ ὁ ἱερεὺς καθὰ συνέταξεν κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ

And Moses doth — Eleazar the priest also — as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.

32 καὶ ἐγενήθη τὸ πλεόνασμα τῆς προνομῆς ὃ ἐπρονόμευσαν οἱ ἄνδρες οἱ πολεμισταί ἀπὸ τῶν προβάτων ἑξακόσιαι χιλιάδες καὶ ἑβδομήκοντα καὶ πέντε χιλιάδες

And the prey, the residue of the spoil which the people of the host have spoiled, is of the flock six hundred thousand, and seventy thousand, and five thousand;

33 καὶ βόες δύο καὶ ἑβδομήκοντα χιλιάδες

and of the herd two and seventy thousand;

34 καὶ ὄνοι μία καὶ ἑξήκοντα χιλιάδες

and of asses one and sixty thousand;

35 καὶ ψυχαὶ ἀνθρώπων ἀπὸ τῶν γυναικῶν αἳ οὐκ ἔγνωσαν κοίτην ἀνδρός πᾶσαι ψυχαὶ δύο καὶ τριάκοντα χιλιάδες

and of human beings — of the women who have not known the lying of a male — all the persons [are] two and thirty thousand.

36 καὶ ἐγενήθη τὸ ἡμίσευμα ἡ μερὶς τῶν ἐκπεπορευμένων εἰς τὸν πόλεμον ἐκ τοῦ ἀριθμοῦ τῶν προβάτων τριακόσιαι καὶ τριάκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ ἑπτακισχίλια καὶ πεντακόσια

And the half — the portion of those who go out into the host — the number of the flock is three hundred thousand, and thirty thousand, and seven thousand and five hundred.

37 καὶ ἐγένετο τὸ τέλος κυρίῳ ἀπὸ τῶν προβάτων ἑξακόσια ἑβδομήκοντα πέντε

And the tribute to Jehovah of the sheep is six hundred five and seventy;

38 καὶ βόες ἓξ καὶ τριάκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ τὸ τέλος κυρίῳ δύο καὶ ἑβδομήκοντα

and the herd [is] six and thirty thousand, and their tribute to Jehovah [is] two and seventy;

39 καὶ ὄνοι τριάκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ πεντακόσιοι καὶ τὸ τέλος κυρίῳ εἷς καὶ ἑξήκοντα

and the asses [are] thirty thousand and five hundred, and their tribute to Jehovah [is] one and sixty;

40 καὶ ψυχαὶ ἀνθρώπων ἑκκαίδεκα χιλιάδες καὶ τὸ τέλος αὐτῶν κυρίῳ δύο καὶ τριάκοντα ψυχαί

and the human beings [are] sixteen thousand, and their tribute to Jehovah [is] two and thirty persons.

41 καὶ ἔδωκεν Μωυσῆς τὸ τέλος κυρίῳ τὸ ἀφαίρεμα τοῦ θεοῦ Ελεαζαρ τῷ ἱερεῖ καθὰ συνέταξεν κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ

And Moses giveth the tribute — Jehovah's heave-offering — to Eleazar the priest, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.

42 ἀπὸ τοῦ ἡμισεύματος τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ οὓς διεῖλεν Μωυσῆς ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνδρῶν τῶν πολεμιστῶν

And of the sons of Israel's half, which Moses halved from the men who war —

43 καὶ ἐγένετο τὸ ἡμίσευμα τὸ τῆς συναγωγῆς ἀπὸ τῶν προβάτων τριακόσιαι χιλιάδες καὶ τριάκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ ἑπτακισχίλια καὶ πεντακόσια

and the company's half is, of the flock three hundred thousand, and thirty thousand, seven thousand and five hundred;

44 καὶ βόες ἓξ καὶ τριάκοντα χιλιάδες

and of the herd six and thirty thousand;

45 ὄνοι τριάκοντα χιλιάδες καὶ πεντακόσιοι

and of asses thirty thousand and five hundred;

46 καὶ ψυχαὶ ἀνθρώπων ἓξ καὶ δέκα χιλιάδες

and of human beings sixteen thousand —

47 καὶ ἔλαβεν Μωυσῆς ἀπὸ τοῦ ἡμισεύματος τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ τὸ ἓν ἀπὸ τῶν πεντήκοντα ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν κτηνῶν καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὰ τοῖς Λευίταις τοῖς φυλάσσουσιν τὰς φυλακὰς τῆς σκηνῆς κυρίου ὃν τρόπον συνέταξεν κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ

Moses taketh from the sons of Israel's half the one possession from the fifty, of man and of beast, and giveth them to the Levites keeping the charge of the tabernacle of Jehovah, as Jehovah hath commanded Moses.

48 καὶ προσῆλθον πρὸς Μωυσῆν πάντες οἱ καθεσταμένοι εἰς τὰς χιλιαρχίας τῆς δυνάμεως χιλίαρχοι καὶ ἑκατόνταρχοι

And the inspectors whom the thousands of the host hath, (heads of the thousands and heads of the hundreds), draw near unto Moses,

49 καὶ εἶπαν πρὸς Μωυσῆν οἱ παῖδές σου εἰλήφασιν τὸ κεφάλαιον τῶν ἀνδρῶν τῶν πολεμιστῶν τῶν παρ’ ἡμῶν καὶ οὐ διαπεφώνηκεν ἀπ’ αὐτῶν οὐδὲ εἷς

and they say unto Moses, 'Thy servants have taken up the sum of the men of war who [are] with us, and not a man of us hath been missed;

50 καὶ προσενηνόχαμεν τὸ δῶρον κυρίῳ ἀνὴρ ὃ εὗρεν σκεῦος χρυσοῦν χλιδῶνα καὶ ψέλιον καὶ δακτύλιον καὶ περιδέξιον καὶ ἐμπλόκιον ἐξιλάσασθαι περὶ ἡμῶν ἔναντι κυρίου

and we bring near Jehovah's offering, each that which he hath found, vessels of gold — chain, and bracelet, seal-ring, [ear] -ring, and bead — to make atonement for ourselves before Jehovah.'

51 καὶ ἔλαβεν Μωυσῆς καὶ Ελεαζαρ ὁ ἱερεὺς τὸ χρυσίον παρ’ αὐτῶν πᾶν σκεῦος εἰργασμένον

And Moses receiveth — Eleazar the priest also — the gold from them, every made vessel,

52 καὶ ἐγένετο πᾶν τὸ χρυσίον τὸ ἀφαίρεμα ὃ ἀφεῖλον κυρίῳ ἓξ καὶ δέκα χιλιάδες καὶ ἑπτακόσιοι καὶ πεντήκοντα σίκλοι παρὰ τῶν χιλιάρχων καὶ παρὰ τῶν ἑκατοντάρχων

and all the gold of the heave-offering which they have lifted up to Jehovah is sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels, from heads of the thousands, and from heads of the hundreds;

53 καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες οἱ πολεμισταὶ ἐπρονόμευσαν ἕκαστος ἑαυτῷ

(the men of the host have spoiled each for himself);

54 καὶ ἔλαβεν Μωυσῆς καὶ Ελεαζαρ ὁ ἱερεὺς τὸ χρυσίον παρὰ τῶν χιλιάρχων καὶ παρὰ τῶν ἑκατοντάρχων καὶ εἰσήνεγκεν αὐτὰ εἰς τὴν σκηνὴν τοῦ μαρτυρίου μνημόσυνον τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ ἔναντι κυρίου

and Moses taketh — Eleazar the priest also — the gold from the heads of the thousands and of the hundreds, and they bring it in unto the tent of meeting — a memorial for the sons of Israel before Jehovah.
