Ἰησοῦς Nαυῆ 13
1 καὶ Ἰησοῦς πρεσβύτερος προβεβηκὼς τῶν ἡμερῶν καὶ εἶπεν κύριος πρὸς Ἰησοῦν σὺ προβέβηκας τῶν ἡμερῶν καὶ ἡ γῆ ὑπολέλειπται πολλὴ εἰς κληρονομίαν
Many years had passed by, and Joshua had grown old. The Lord spoke to him, saying, “You're now an old man, but there's still a great deal of land still to be taken.
2 καὶ αὕτη ἡ γῆ ἡ καταλελειμμένη ὅρια Φυλιστιιμ ὁ Γεσιρι καὶ ὁ Χαναναῖος
This is the remaining land: the territory of all the Philistines and all the Geshurites,
3 ἀπὸ τῆς ἀοικήτου τῆς κατὰ πρόσωπον Αἰγύπτου ἕως τῶν ὁρίων Ακκαρων ἐξ εὐωνύμων τῶν Χαναναίων προσλογίζεται ταῖς πέντε σατραπείαις τῶν Φυλιστιιμ τῷ Γαζαίῳ καὶ τῷ Ἀζωτίῳ καὶ τῷ Ἀσκαλωνίτῃ καὶ τῷ Γεθθαίῳ καὶ τῷ Ακκαρωνίτῃ καὶ τῷ Ευαίῳ
from the Shihur River on the border with Egypt north to the border of Ekron—all of which is counted as Canaanite but comes under the five Philistine lords of Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath, and Ekron. In addition there's the land of the Avvites
4 ἐκ Θαιμαν καὶ πάσῃ γῇ Χανααν ἐναντίον Γάζης καὶ οἱ Σιδώνιοι ἕως Αφεκ ἕως τῶν ὁρίων τῶν Αμορραίων
in the south, all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah that belongs to the Sidonians, all the way to Aphek on the border with the Amorites,
5 καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν Γαβλι Φυλιστιιμ καὶ πάντα τὸν Λίβανον ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν ἡλίου ἀπὸ Γαλγαλ ὑπὸ τὸ ὄρος τὸ Αερμων ἕως τῆς εἰσόδου Εμαθ
as well as the land of the Gebalites and the Lebanon area from the town of Baalgad to the slopes of Mount Hermon to Lebo-hamath,
6 πᾶς ὁ κατοικῶν τὴν ὀρεινὴν ἀπὸ τοῦ Λιβάνου ἕως τῆς Μασερεφωθμαιμ πάντας τοὺς Σιδωνίους ἐγὼ αὐτοὺς ἐξολεθρεύσω ἀπὸ προσώπου Ισραηλ ἀλλὰ διάδος αὐτὴν ἐν κλήρῳ τῷ Ισραηλ ὃν τρόπον σοι ἐνετειλάμην
and the those who live in the hill country from Lebanon to Misrephoth Maim, including all the land of the Sidonians. I myself will drive them out ahead of the Israelites. Just allocate the land to Israel for them to own, as I have commanded you.
7 καὶ νῦν μέρισον τὴν γῆν ταύτην ἐν κληρονομίᾳ ταῖς ἐννέα φυλαῖς καὶ τῷ ἡμίσει φυλῆς Μανασση ἀπὸ τοῦ Ιορδάνου ἕως τῆς θαλάσσης τῆς μεγάλης κατὰ δυσμὰς ἡλίου δώσεις αὐτήν ἡ θάλασσα ἡ μεγάλη ὁριεῖ
So divide this land among the nine tribes and the half-tribe of Manasseh for them to own.”
8 ταῖς δὲ δύο φυλαῖς καὶ τῷ ἡμίσει φυλῆς Μανασση τῷ Ρουβην καὶ τῷ Γαδ ἔδωκεν Μωυσῆς ἐν τῷ πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου κατ’ ἀνατολὰς ἡλίου δέδωκεν αὐτὴν Μωυσῆς ὁ παῖς κυρίου
The other half of the tribe of Manasseh, and the tribes of Reuben and Gad, had already received their land grant on the east side of the Jordan, as allotted to them by Moses, the servant of the Lord.
9 ἀπὸ Αροηρ ἥ ἐστιν ἐπὶ τοῦ χείλους χειμάρρου Αρνων καὶ τὴν πόλιν τὴν ἐν μέσῳ τῆς φάραγγος καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν Μισωρ ἀπὸ Μαιδαβα ἕως Δαιβαν
It stretched from Aroer on the edge of the Arnon valley, from the town in the middle of the valley, and all the plateau of Medeba, up to Dibon;
10 πάσας τὰς πόλεις Σηων βασιλέως Αμορραίων ὃς ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Εσεβων ἕως τῶν ὁρίων υἱῶν Αμμων
and all the towns that belonged to Sihon, king of the Amorites, who ruled in Heshbon, up to the border with the Ammonites.
11 καὶ τὴν Γαλααδίτιδα καὶ τὰ ὅρια Γεσιρι καὶ τοῦ Μαχατι πᾶν ὄρος Αερμων καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν Βασανῖτιν ἕως Σελχα
In addition it included Gilead, the land of the Geshurites and Maacathites, all of Mount Hermon, and all of Bashan as far as Salecah,
12 πᾶσαν τὴν βασιλείαν Ωγ ἐν τῇ Βασανίτιδι ὃς ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ασταρωθ καὶ ἐν Εδραϊν οὗτος κατελείφθη ἀπὸ τῶν γιγάντων καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν Μωυσῆς καὶ ἐξωλέθρευσεν
as well as all the land of the kingdom of Og of Bashan, who had ruled in Ashtaroth and Edrei. He was one of the last of the Rephaites. Moses had defeated them and driven them out.
13 καὶ οὐκ ἐξωλέθρευσαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ τὸν Γεσιρι καὶ τὸν Μαχατι καὶ τὸν Χαναναῖον καὶ κατῴκει βασιλεὺς Γεσιρι καὶ ὁ Μαχατι ἐν τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ ἕως τῆς σήμερον ἡμέρας
But the Israelites had not driven out the Geshurites or the Maacathites, who still live among them to this very day.
14 πλὴν τῆς φυλῆς Λευι οὐκ ἐδόθη κληρονομία κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ οὗτος αὐτῶν κληρονομία καθὰ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς κύριος καὶ οὗτος ὁ καταμερισμός ὃν κατεμέρισεν Μωυσῆς τοῖς υἱοῖς Ισραηλ ἐν Αραβωθ Μωαβ ἐν τῷ πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου κατὰ Ιεριχω
Moses did not allocate any land for the Levites to own. Instead they were allotted the offerings made by fire to the Lord, the God of Israel, as the Lord had promised them.
15 καὶ ἔδωκεν Μωυσῆς τῇ φυλῇ Ρουβην κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν
This was the land that Moses allotted to the tribe of Reuben, by families:
16 καὶ ἐγενήθη αὐτῶν τὰ ὅρια ἀπὸ Αροηρ ἥ ἐστιν κατὰ πρόσωπον φάραγγος Αρνων καὶ ἡ πόλις ἡ ἐν τῇ φάραγγι Αρνων καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν Μισωρ
Their territory stretched from Aroer on the edge of the Arnon valley, from the town in the middle of the valley, and all the plateau of Medeba;
17 ἕως Εσεβων καὶ πάσας τὰς πόλεις τὰς οὔσας ἐν τῇ Μισωρ καὶ Δαιβων καὶ Βαμωθβααλ καὶ οἴκου Βεελμων
Heshbon and all associated towns on the plateau—Dibon, Bamoth Baal, Beth Baal Meon,
18 καὶ Ιασσα καὶ Κεδημωθ καὶ Μεφααθ
Jahaz, Kedemoth, Mephaath,
19 καὶ Καριαθαιμ καὶ Σεβαμα καὶ Σεραδα καὶ Σιωρ ἐν τῷ ὄρει Εμακ
Kiriathaim, Sibmah, Zereth-shahar, on a hill in the valley,
20 καὶ Βαιθφογωρ καὶ Ασηδωθ Φασγα καὶ Βαιθασιμωθ
Beth-peor, the slopes of Pisgah, Beth-jeshimoth—
21 καὶ πάσας τὰς πόλεις τοῦ Μισωρ καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ Σηων βασιλέως τῶν Αμορραίων ὃν ἐπάταξεν Μωυσῆς αὐτὸν καὶ τοὺς ἡγουμένους Μαδιαμ καὶ τὸν Ευι καὶ τὸν Ροκομ καὶ τὸν Σουρ καὶ τὸν Ουρ καὶ τὸν Ροβε ἄρχοντας παρὰ Σηων καὶ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας τὴν γῆν
all the towns of the plateau and all the kingdom of Sihon, the Amorite king, who ruled in Heshbon. He was defeated by Moses, as well as the Midianite leaders Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, princes who lived in the kingdom and who were allied to Sihon.
22 καὶ τὸν Βαλααμ τὸν τοῦ Βεωρ τὸν μάντιν ἀπέκτειναν ἐν τῇ ῥοπῇ
At the same time the Israelites killed Balaam, son of Beor, the fortune-teller, along with the others who were slaughtered.
23 ἐγένετο δὲ τὰ ὅρια Ρουβην Ιορδάνης ὅριον αὕτη ἡ κληρονομία υἱῶν Ρουβην κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν αἱ πόλεις αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ ἐπαύλεις αὐτῶν
The Jordan was the boundary for the tribe of Reuben. This was the land, the towns and the villages, allotted to the tribe of Reuben, by families.
24 ἔδωκεν δὲ Μωυσῆς τοῖς υἱοῖς Γαδ κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν
This was the land that Moses allotted to the tribe of Gad, by families:
25 καὶ ἐγένετο τὰ ὅρια αὐτῶν Ιαζηρ πᾶσαι αἱ πόλεις Γαλααδ καὶ τὸ ἥμισυ γῆς υἱῶν Αμμων ἕως Αροηρ ἥ ἐστιν κατὰ πρόσωπον Ραββα
Their territory was Jazer, all the towns of Gilead, and half of the land of the Ammonites up to Aroer, near Rabbah;
26 καὶ ἀπὸ Εσεβων ἕως Ραμωθ κατὰ τὴν Μασσηφα καὶ Βοτανιν καὶ Μααναιν ἕως τῶν ὁρίων Δαβιρ
stretching from Heshbon to Ramath-mizpeh and Betonim, and from Mahanaim to the Debir region.
27 καὶ ἐν Εμεκ Βαιθαραμ καὶ Βαιθαναβρα καὶ Σοκχωθα καὶ Σαφαν καὶ τὴν λοιπὴν βασιλείαν Σηων βασιλέως Εσεβων καὶ ὁ Ιορδάνης ὁριεῖ ἕως μέρους τῆς θαλάσσης Χενερεθ πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου ἀπ’ ἀνατολῶν
In the Jordan valley lay Beth-haram, Beth-nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon, king of Heshbon. The boundary ran along the Jordan up to the bottom end of the sea of Kinnereth and then ran east.
28 αὕτη ἡ κληρονομία υἱῶν Γαδ κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν αἱ πόλεις αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ ἐπαύλεις αὐτῶν
This was the land, the towns and the villages, allotted to the tribe of Gad, by families.
29 καὶ ἔδωκεν Μωυσῆς τῷ ἡμίσει φυλῆς Μανασση κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν
This was the land that Moses allotted to the half-tribe of Manasseh, that is half of the tribe of the descendants of Manasseh, by families:
30 καὶ ἐγένετο τὰ ὅρια αὐτῶν ἀπὸ Μααναιμ καὶ πᾶσα βασιλεία Βασανι καὶ πᾶσα βασιλεία Ωγ βασιλέως Βασαν καὶ πάσας τὰς κώμας Ιαϊρ αἵ εἰσιν ἐν τῇ Βασανίτιδι ἑξήκοντα πόλεις
Their territory stretched from Manahaim through the whole of Bashan, all the kingdom of Og, and all the towns of Jair in Bashan—sixty in all.
31 καὶ τὸ ἥμισυ τῆς Γαλααδ καὶ ἐν Ασταρωθ καὶ ἐν Εδραϊν πόλεις βασιλείας Ωγ ἐν Βασανίτιδι καὶ ἐδόθησαν τοῖς υἱοῖς Μαχιρ υἱοῦ Μανασση καὶ τοῖς ἡμίσεσιν υἱοῖς Μαχιρ υἱοῦ Μανασση κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν
Also included was Gilead, and Ashtaroth and Edrei, the towns of king Og in Bashan. This was the land allotted to the descendants of Machir, son of Manasseh, for half of them, by families.
32 οὗτοι οὓς κατεκληρονόμησεν Μωυσῆς πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου ἐν Αραβωθ Μωαβ ἐν τῷ πέραν τοῦ Ιορδάνου κατὰ Ιεριχω ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν
These were the allocations that Moses made when he was in the plains of Moab, on the other side of the Jordan, east of Jericho.
However, Moses did not allot any land to the Levites, for the Lord, the God of Israel, had promised them that he would be their allocation.
