Γένεσις 27
1 ἐγένετο δὲ μετὰ τὸ γηρᾶσαι Ισαακ καὶ ἠμβλύνθησαν οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτοῦ τοῦ ὁρᾶν καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Ησαυ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ τὸν πρεσβύτερον καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ υἱέ μου καὶ εἶπεν ἰδοὺ ἐγώ
Forsothe Isaac wexe eld, and hise iyen dasewiden, and he miyte not se. And he clepide Esau, his more sone, and seide to hym, My sone! Which answerde, Y am present.
2 καὶ εἶπεν ἰδοὺ γεγήρακα καὶ οὐ γινώσκω τὴν ἡμέραν τῆς τελευτῆς μου
To whom the fadir seide, Thou seest that Y haue woxun eld, and Y knowe not the dai of my deeth.
3 νῦν οὖν λαβὲ τὸ σκεῦός σου τήν τε φαρέτραν καὶ τὸ τόξον καὶ ἔξελθε εἰς τὸ πεδίον καὶ θήρευσόν μοι θήραν
Take thin armeres, `arewe caas, and a bowe, and go out; and whanne thou hast take ony thing bi huntyng,
4 καὶ ποίησόν μοι ἐδέσματα ὡς φιλῶ ἐγώ καὶ ἔνεγκέ μοι ἵνα φάγω ὅπως εὐλογήσῃ σε ἡ ψυχή μου πρὶν ἀποθανεῖν με
make to me a seew therof, as thou knowist that Y wole, and brynge that Y ete, and my soule blesse thee bifore that Y die.
5 Ρεβεκκα δὲ ἤκουσεν λαλοῦντος Ισαακ πρὸς Ησαυ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ ἐπορεύθη δὲ Ησαυ εἰς τὸ πεδίον θηρεῦσαι θήραν τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ
And whanne Rebecca hadde herd this thing, and he hadde go in to the feeld to fille the comaundment of the fadir,
6 Ρεβεκκα δὲ εἶπεν πρὸς Ιακωβ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς τὸν ἐλάσσω ἰδὲ ἐγὼ ἤκουσα τοῦ πατρός σου λαλοῦντος πρὸς Ησαυ τὸν ἀδελφόν σου λέγοντος
sche seide to hir sone Jacob, Y herde thi fadir spekynge with Esau, thi brothir, and seiynge to him, Brynge thou me of thin huntyng,
7 ἔνεγκόν μοι θήραν καὶ ποίησόν μοι ἐδέσματα καὶ φαγὼν εὐλογήσω σε ἐναντίον κυρίου πρὸ τοῦ ἀποθανεῖν με
and make thow metis, that Y ete, and that Y blesse thee bifor the Lord bifor that Y die.
8 νῦν οὖν υἱέ ἄκουσόν μου καθὰ ἐγώ σοι ἐντέλλομαι
Now therfor, my sone, assent to my counsels,
9 καὶ πορευθεὶς εἰς τὰ πρόβατα λαβέ μοι ἐκεῖθεν δύο ἐρίφους ἁπαλοὺς καὶ καλούς καὶ ποιήσω αὐτοὺς ἐδέσματα τῷ πατρί σου ὡς φιλεῖ
and go to the floc, and brynge to me tweyne the beste kidis, that Y make metis of tho to thi fadir, whiche he etith gladli;
10 καὶ εἰσοίσεις τῷ πατρί σου καὶ φάγεται ὅπως εὐλογήσῃ σε ὁ πατήρ σου πρὸ τοῦ ἀποθανεῖν αὐτόν
and that whanne thow hast brouyt in tho metis, and he hath ete, he blesse thee bifore that he die.
11 εἶπεν δὲ Ιακωβ πρὸς Ρεβεκκαν τὴν μητέρα αὐτοῦ ἔστιν Ησαυ ὁ ἀδελφός μου ἀνὴρ δασύς ἐγὼ δὲ ἀνὴρ λεῖος
To whom Jacob answerde, Thou knowist that Esau my brother is an heeri man, and Y am smethe; if my fadir `touchith and feelith me,
12 μήποτε ψηλαφήσῃ με ὁ πατήρ μου καὶ ἔσομαι ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ ὡς καταφρονῶν καὶ ἐπάξω ἐπ’ ἐμαυτὸν κατάραν καὶ οὐκ εὐλογίαν
Y drede lest he gesse that Y wolde scorne him, and lest he brynge in cursyng on me for blessyng.
13 εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ἡ μήτηρ ἐπ’ ἐμὲ ἡ κατάρα σου τέκνον μόνον ὑπάκουσον τῆς φωνῆς μου καὶ πορευθεὶς ἔνεγκέ μοι
To whom the modir seide, My sone, this cursyng be in me; oonly here thou my vois, and go, and brynge that that Y seide.
14 πορευθεὶς δὲ ἔλαβεν καὶ ἤνεγκεν τῇ μητρί καὶ ἐποίησεν ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ ἐδέσματα καθὰ ἐφίλει ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ
He yede, and brouyte, and yaf to his modir. Sche made redi metis, as sche knewe that his fadir wolde,
15 καὶ λαβοῦσα Ρεβεκκα τὴν στολὴν Ησαυ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτῆς τοῦ πρεσβυτέρου τὴν καλήν ἣ ἦν παρ’ αὐτῇ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ ἐνέδυσεν Ιακωβ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς τὸν νεώτερον
and sche clothide Jacob in ful goode clothis of Esau, whiche sche hadde at home anentis hir silf.
16 καὶ τὰ δέρματα τῶν ἐρίφων περιέθηκεν ἐπὶ τοὺς βραχίονας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ τὰ γυμνὰ τοῦ τραχήλου αὐτοῦ
And sche `compasside the hondis with litle skynnys of kiddis, and kyuerede the `nakide thingis of the necke;
17 καὶ ἔδωκεν τὰ ἐδέσματα καὶ τοὺς ἄρτους οὓς ἐποίησεν εἰς τὰς χεῖρας Ιακωβ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτῆς
and sche yaf seew, and bitook the loouys whiche sche hadde bake.
18 καὶ εἰσήνεγκεν τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ εἶπεν δέ πάτερ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν ἰδοὺ ἐγώ τίς εἶ σύ τέκνον
And whanne these weren brouyt in, he seide, My fadir! And he answerde, Y here; who art thou, my sone?
19 καὶ εἶπεν Ιακωβ τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ ἐγὼ Ησαυ ὁ πρωτότοκός σου ἐποίησα καθὰ ἐλάλησάς μοι ἀναστὰς κάθισον καὶ φάγε τῆς θήρας μου ὅπως εὐλογήσῃ με ἡ ψυχή σου
And Jacob seide, Y am Esau, thi first gendrid sone. Y haue do to thee as thou comaundist to me; rise thou, sitte, and ete of myn huntyng, that thi soule blesse me.
20 εἶπεν δὲ Ισαακ τῷ υἱῷ αὐτοῦ τί τοῦτο ὃ ταχὺ εὗρες ὦ τέκνον ὁ δὲ εἶπεν ὃ παρέδωκεν κύριος ὁ θεός σου ἐναντίον μου
Eft Ysaac seide to his sone, My sone, hou miytist thou fynde so soone? Which answerde, It was Goddis wille, that this that Y wolde schulde come soone to me.
21 εἶπεν δὲ Ισαακ τῷ Ιακωβ ἔγγισόν μοι καὶ ψηλαφήσω σε τέκνον εἰ σὺ εἶ ὁ υἱός μου Ησαυ ἢ οὔ
And Isaac seide, My sone, come thou hidir, that Y touche thee, and that Y preue wher thou art my sone Esau, ethir nay.
22 ἤγγισεν δὲ Ιακωβ πρὸς Ισαακ τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐψηλάφησεν αὐτὸν καὶ εἶπεν ἡ μὲν φωνὴ φωνὴ Ιακωβ αἱ δὲ χεῖρες χεῖρες Ησαυ
He neiyede to the fadir; and whanne he hadde feelid hym, Isaac seide, Sotheli the vois is the vois of Jacob, but the hondis ben the hondis of Esau.
23 καὶ οὐκ ἐπέγνω αὐτόν ἦσαν γὰρ αἱ χεῖρες αὐτοῦ ὡς αἱ χεῖρες Ησαυ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ δασεῖαι καὶ ηὐλόγησεν αὐτόν
And Isaac knew not Jacob, for the heery hondis expressiden the licnesse of the more sone.
24 καὶ εἶπεν σὺ εἶ ὁ υἱός μου Ησαυ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν ἐγώ
Therfor Isaac blesside him, and seide, Art thou my sone Esau? Jacob answerde, Y am.
25 καὶ εἶπεν προσάγαγέ μοι καὶ φάγομαι ἀπὸ τῆς θήρας σου τέκνον ἵνα εὐλογήσῃ σε ἡ ψυχή μου καὶ προσήγαγεν αὐτῷ καὶ ἔφαγεν καὶ εἰσήνεγκεν αὐτῷ οἶνον καὶ ἔπιεν
And Isaac seide, My sone, brynge thou to me metis of thin huntyng, that my soule blesse thee. And whanne Isaac hadde ete these metis brouyt, Jacob brouyte also wyn to Isaac, and whanne this was drunkun,
26 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ισαακ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ ἔγγισόν μοι καὶ φίλησόν με τέκνον
Isaac seide to him, My sone, come thou hidir, and yyue to me a cos.
27 καὶ ἐγγίσας ἐφίλησεν αὐτόν καὶ ὠσφράνθη τὴν ὀσμὴν τῶν ἱματίων αὐτοῦ καὶ ηὐλόγησεν αὐτὸν καὶ εἶπεν ἰδοὺ ὀσμὴ τοῦ υἱοῦ μου ὡς ὀσμὴ ἀγροῦ πλήρους ὃν ηὐλόγησεν κύριος
Jacob neiyede, and kisside hym; and anoon as Isaac feelide the odour of hise clothis, he blesside him, and seide, Lo! the odour of my sone as the odour of a `feeld ful which the Lord hath blessid.
28 καὶ δῴη σοι ὁ θεὸς ἀπὸ τῆς δρόσου τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς πιότητος τῆς γῆς καὶ πλῆθος σίτου καὶ οἴνου
God yyue to thee of the dewe of heuene, and of the fatnesse of erthe, aboundaunce of whete, and of wyn, and of oile;
29 καὶ δουλευσάτωσάν σοι ἔθνη καὶ προσκυνήσουσίν σοι ἄρχοντες καὶ γίνου κύριος τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου καὶ προσκυνήσουσίν σοι οἱ υἱοὶ τοῦ πατρός σου ὁ καταρώμενός σε ἐπικατάρατος ὁ δὲ εὐλογῶν σε εὐλογημένος
and puplis serue thee, and lynagis worschipe thee; be thou lord of thi britheren, and the sones of thi modir be bowid bifor thee; be he cursid that cursith thee, and he that blessith thee, be fillid with blessyngis.
30 καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ τὸ παύσασθαι Ισαακ εὐλογοῦντα Ιακωβ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἐξῆλθεν Ιακωβ ἀπὸ προσώπου Ισαακ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ Ησαυ ὁ ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ ἦλθεν ἀπὸ τῆς θήρας
Vnnethis Isaac hadde fillid the word, and whanne Jacob was gon out,
31 καὶ ἐποίησεν καὶ αὐτὸς ἐδέσματα καὶ προσήνεγκεν τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν τῷ πατρί ἀναστήτω ὁ πατήρ μου καὶ φαγέτω τῆς θήρας τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτοῦ ὅπως εὐλογήσῃ με ἡ ψυχή σου
Esau cam, and brouyte in metis sodun of the huntyng to the fadir, and seide, My fadir, rise thou, and ete of the huntyng of thi sone, that thi soule blesse me.
32 καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ισαακ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ τίς εἶ σύ ὁ δὲ εἶπεν ἐγώ εἰμι ὁ υἱός σου ὁ πρωτότοκος Ησαυ
And Isaac seide, Who forsothe art thou? Which answerde, Y am Esau, thi firste gendrid sone.
33 ἐξέστη δὲ Ισαακ ἔκστασιν μεγάλην σφόδρα καὶ εἶπεν τίς οὖν ὁ θηρεύσας μοι θήραν καὶ εἰσενέγκας μοι καὶ ἔφαγον ἀπὸ πάντων πρὸ τοῦ σε ἐλθεῖν καὶ ηὐλόγησα αὐτόν καὶ εὐλογημένος ἔστω
Isaac dredde bi a greet astonying; and he wondride more, than it mai be bileued, and seide, Who therfor is he which a while ago brouyte to me huntyng takun, and Y eet of alle thingis bifor that thou camest; and Y blesside him? and he schal be blessid.
34 ἐγένετο δὲ ἡνίκα ἤκουσεν Ησαυ τὰ ῥήματα Ισαακ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ ἀνεβόησεν φωνὴν μεγάλην καὶ πικρὰν σφόδρα καὶ εἶπεν εὐλόγησον δὴ κἀμέ πάτερ
Whanne the wordis of the fadir weren herd, Esau rorid with a greet cry, and was astonyed, and seide, My fadir, blesse thou also me.
35 εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ἐλθὼν ὁ ἀδελφός σου μετὰ δόλου ἔλαβεν τὴν εὐλογίαν σου
Which seide, Thy brother cam prudentli, and took thi blessyng.
36 καὶ εἶπεν δικαίως ἐκλήθη τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ιακωβ ἐπτέρνικεν γάρ με ἤδη δεύτερον τοῦτο τά τε πρωτοτόκιά μου εἴληφεν καὶ νῦν εἴληφεν τὴν εὐλογίαν μου καὶ εἶπεν Ησαυ τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ οὐχ ὑπελίπω μοι εὐλογίαν πάτερ
And Esau addide, Justli his name is clepid Jacob, for lo! he supplauntide me another tyme; bifor he took awei `my firste gendride thingis, and now the secounde tyme he rauyschide priueli my blessyng. And eft he seide to the fadir, Wher thou hast not reserued a blessyng also to me?
37 ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Ισαακ εἶπεν τῷ Ησαυ εἰ κύριον αὐτὸν ἐποίησά σου καὶ πάντας τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ ἐποίησα αὐτοῦ οἰκέτας σίτῳ καὶ οἴνῳ ἐστήρισα αὐτόν σοὶ δὲ τί ποιήσω τέκνον
Ysaac answeride, Y haue maad him thi lord, and Y haue maad suget alle hise britheren to his seruage; Y haue stablischid him in whete, and wyn, and oile; and, my sone, what schal Y do to thee aftir these thingis?
38 εἶπεν δὲ Ησαυ πρὸς τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ μὴ εὐλογία μία σοί ἐστιν πάτερ εὐλόγησον δὴ κἀμέ πάτερ κατανυχθέντος δὲ Ισαακ ἀνεβόησεν φωνὴν Ησαυ καὶ ἔκλαυσεν
To whom Esau saide, Fadir, wher thou hast oneli o blessyng? Y biseche that also thou blesse me. And whanne Esau wepte with greet yellyng,
39 ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Ισαακ ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἰδοὺ ἀπὸ τῆς πιότητος τῆς γῆς ἔσται ἡ κατοίκησίς σου καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς δρόσου τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἄνωθεν
Isaac was stirid, and seide to hym, Thi blessyng schal be in the fatnesse of erthe, and in the dew of heuene fro aboue;
40 καὶ ἐπὶ τῇ μαχαίρῃ σου ζήσῃ καὶ τῷ ἀδελφῷ σου δουλεύσεις ἔσται δὲ ἡνίκα ἐὰν καθέλῃς καὶ ἐκλύσεις τὸν ζυγὸν αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τοῦ τραχήλου σου
thou schalt lyue bi swerd, and thou schalt serue thi brothir, and tyme schal come whanne thou schalt shake awei, and vnbynde his yok fro thi nollis.
41 καὶ ἐνεκότει Ησαυ τῷ Ιακωβ περὶ τῆς εὐλογίας ἧς εὐλόγησεν αὐτὸν ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ εἶπεν δὲ Ησαυ ἐν τῇ διανοίᾳ ἐγγισάτωσαν αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ πένθους τοῦ πατρός μου ἵνα ἀποκτείνω Ιακωβ τὸν ἀδελφόν μου
Therfor Esau hatide euer Jacob for the blessyng bi which the fadir hadde blessid hym; and Esau seide in his herte, The daies of morenyng of my fadir schulen come, and Y schal sle Jacob, my brothir.
42 ἀπηγγέλη δὲ Ρεβεκκα τὰ ῥήματα Ησαυ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτῆς τοῦ πρεσβυτέρου καὶ πέμψασα ἐκάλεσεν Ιακωβ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς τὸν νεώτερον καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ἰδοὺ Ησαυ ὁ ἀδελφός σου ἀπειλεῖ σοι τοῦ ἀποκτεῖναί σε
These thingis weren teld to Rebecca, and sche sente, and clepide hir sone Jacob, and seide to hym, Lo! Esau, thi brothir, manaasith to sle thee;
43 νῦν οὖν τέκνον ἄκουσόν μου τῆς φωνῆς καὶ ἀναστὰς ἀπόδραθι εἰς τὴν Μεσοποταμίαν πρὸς Λαβαν τὸν ἀδελφόν μου εἰς Χαρραν
now therfor, my sone, here thou my vois, and rise thou, and fle to Laban, my brother, in Aran;
44 καὶ οἴκησον μετ’ αὐτοῦ ἡμέρας τινὰς ἕως τοῦ ἀποστρέψαι τὸν θυμὸν
and thou schalt dwelle with hym a fewe daies, til the woodnesse of thi brother reste,
45 καὶ τὴν ὀργὴν τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου ἀπὸ σοῦ καὶ ἐπιλάθηται ἃ πεποίηκας αὐτῷ καὶ ἀποστείλασα μεταπέμψομαί σε ἐκεῖθεν μήποτε ἀτεκνωθῶ ἀπὸ τῶν δύο ὑμῶν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ μιᾷ
and his indignacioun ceesse, and til he foryite tho thingis whiche thou hast don ayens hym. Aftirward Y schal sende, and Y schal brynge thee fro thennus hidir. Whi schal Y be maad soneles of euer eithir sone in o dai?
46 εἶπεν δὲ Ρεβεκκα πρὸς Ισαακ προσώχθικα τῇ ζωῇ μου διὰ τὰς θυγατέρας τῶν υἱῶν Χετ εἰ λήμψεται Ιακωβ γυναῖκα ἀπὸ τῶν θυγατέρων τῆς γῆς ταύτης ἵνα τί μοι ζῆν
And Rebecca seide to Isaac, It anoieth me of my lijf for the douytris of Heth; if Jacob takith a wijf of the kynrede of this lond, Y nyle lyue.
