Ἔξοδος 26
1 καὶ τὴν σκηνὴν ποιήσεις δέκα αὐλαίας ἐκ βύσσου κεκλωσμένης καὶ ὑακίνθου καὶ πορφύρας καὶ κοκκίνου κεκλωσμένου χερουβιμ ἐργασίᾳ ὑφάντου ποιήσεις αὐτάς
“[Tell the people to] make the Sacred Tent using ten long strips of fine linen. They must take blue, purple, and red thread (OR, weave the strips from blue, purple, and red thread), and [a skilled craftsman] must embroider these strips with [designs that represent] the winged creatures [that are above the chest].
2 μῆκος τῆς αὐλαίας τῆς μιᾶς ὀκτὼ καὶ εἴκοσι πήχεων καὶ εὖρος τεσσάρων πήχεων ἡ αὐλαία ἡ μία ἔσται μέτρον τὸ αὐτὸ ἔσται πάσαις ταῖς αὐλαίαις
Each strip is to be (14 yards/twelve meters) long and (2 yards/1.8 meters) wide.
3 πέντε δὲ αὐλαῖαι ἔσονται ἐξ ἀλλήλων ἐχόμεναι ἡ ἑτέρα ἐκ τῆς ἑτέρας καὶ πέντε αὐλαῖαι ἔσονται συνεχόμεναι ἑτέρα τῇ ἑτέρᾳ
[Tell them to] sew five strips together to make one set, and sew the other five strips together to make another set.
4 καὶ ποιήσεις αὐταῖς ἀγκύλας ὑακινθίνας ἐπὶ τοῦ χείλους τῆς αὐλαίας τῆς μιᾶς ἐκ τοῦ ἑνὸς μέρους εἰς τὴν συμβολὴν καὶ οὕτως ποιήσεις ἐπὶ τοῦ χείλους τῆς αὐλαίας τῆς ἐξωτέρας πρὸς τῇ συμβολῇ τῇ δευτέρᾳ
For each set, [they must] make loops of blue [cloth] and fasten them along the outer edge of the strip, at the end of each set.
5 πεντήκοντα ἀγκύλας ποιήσεις τῇ αὐλαίᾳ τῇ μιᾷ καὶ πεντήκοντα ἀγκύλας ποιήσεις ἐκ τοῦ μέρους τῆς αὐλαίας κατὰ τὴν συμβολὴν τῆς δευτέρας ἀντιπρόσωποι ἀντιπίπτουσαι ἀλλήλαις εἰς ἑκάστην
[They must] put 50 loops on the edge of the first set, and 50 loops on the edge of the second set.
6 καὶ ποιήσεις κρίκους πεντήκοντα χρυσοῦς καὶ συνάψεις τὰς αὐλαίας ἑτέραν τῇ ἑτέρᾳ τοῖς κρίκοις καὶ ἔσται ἡ σκηνὴ μία
[Tell them to] make 50 gold clasps/fasteners, to fasten both of the sets together. As a result, the inside of the Sacred Tent will be [as though it was] one piece.
7 καὶ ποιήσεις δέρρεις τριχίνας σκέπην ἐπὶ τῆς σκηνῆς ἕνδεκα δέρρεις ποιήσεις αὐτάς
Also, [tell them to] make a cover for the Sacred Tent from eleven pieces of cloth made from goats’ hair.
8 τὸ μῆκος τῆς δέρρεως τῆς μιᾶς ἔσται τριάκοντα πήχεων καὶ τεσσάρων πήχεων τὸ εὖρος τῆς δέρρεως τῆς μιᾶς μέτρον τὸ αὐτὸ ἔσται ταῖς ἕνδεκα δέρρεσι
Each piece of cloth is to be (15 yards/13.5 meters) long and (2 yards/1.8 meters) wide.
9 καὶ συνάψεις τὰς πέντε δέρρεις ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτὸ καὶ τὰς ἓξ δέρρεις ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτό καὶ ἐπιδιπλώσεις τὴν δέρριν τὴν ἕκτην κατὰ πρόσωπον τῆς σκηνῆς
[Tell them to] sew five of these pieces of cloth together to make one set, and sew the other six pieces of cloth together to make another set. [They] must fold the sixth piece [of cloth] in half to make it double over the front of the Sacred Tent.
10 καὶ ποιήσεις ἀγκύλας πεντήκοντα ἐπὶ τοῦ χείλους τῆς δέρρεως τῆς μιᾶς τῆς ἀνὰ μέσον κατὰ συμβολὴν καὶ πεντήκοντα ἀγκύλας ποιήσεις ἐπὶ τοῦ χείλους τῆς δέρρεως τῆς συναπτούσης τῆς δευτέρας
[Tell them to] make 100 loops [of blue cloth], and to fasten 50 of them to the outer edge of the one set and fasten 50 to the outer edge of the other set.
11 καὶ ποιήσεις κρίκους χαλκοῦς πεντήκοντα καὶ συνάψεις τοὺς κρίκους ἐκ τῶν ἀγκυλῶν καὶ συνάψεις τὰς δέρρεις καὶ ἔσται ἕν
[Tell them to] make fifty bronze clasps/fasteners and put them in the cloth loops to join the two sets together. As a result, the cover for the Sacred Tent will be [as though it was] one piece.
12 καὶ ὑποθήσεις τὸ πλεονάζον ἐν ταῖς δέρρεσιν τῆς σκηνῆς τὸ ἥμισυ τῆς δέρρεως τὸ ὑπολελειμμένον ὑποκαλύψεις τὸ πλεονάζον τῶν δέρρεων τῆς σκηνῆς ὑποκαλύψεις ὀπίσω τῆς σκηνῆς
[Let] the extra part of the cover, the part that extends beyond [the linen cloth], hang over the back of the Sacred Tent.
13 πῆχυν ἐκ τούτου καὶ πῆχυν ἐκ τούτου ἐκ τοῦ ὑπερέχοντος τῶν δέρρεων ἐκ τοῦ μήκους τῶν δέρρεων τῆς σκηνῆς ἔσται συγκαλύπτον ἐπὶ τὰ πλάγια τῆς σκηνῆς ἔνθεν καὶ ἔνθεν ἵνα καλύπτῃ
The extra half yard/meter of each cover, the part that extends beyond [the linen cloth] on each side, must hang over the two sides of the Sacred Tent, to protect the sides.
14 καὶ ποιήσεις κατακάλυμμα τῇ σκηνῇ δέρματα κριῶν ἠρυθροδανωμένα καὶ ἐπικαλύμματα δέρματα ὑακίνθινα ἐπάνωθεν
[Tell them to] make two more covers for the Sacred Tent. One is to be made from rams’ skins that have been (tanned/dyed red), and the top cover is to be made from goatskin leather.”
15 καὶ ποιήσεις στύλους τῇ σκηνῇ ἐκ ξύλων ἀσήπτων
“[Tell them to] make frames from acacia wood, frames that will be set up [from which to hang the Sacred Tent covers].
16 δέκα πήχεων ποιήσεις τὸν στῦλον τὸν ἕνα καὶ πήχεος ἑνὸς καὶ ἡμίσους τὸ πλάτος τοῦ στύλου τοῦ ἑνός
Each frame is to be (five yards/four meters) long and (27 in./66 cm.) wide.
17 δύο ἀγκωνίσκους τῷ στύλῳ τῷ ἑνὶ ἀντιπίπτοντας ἕτερον τῷ ἑτέρῳ οὕτως ποιήσεις πᾶσι τοῖς στύλοις τῆς σκηνῆς
[They] must make two projections at the bottom of each frame. These will be to fasten the frames to the bases underneath them. They must make these projections at the bottom of each frame.
18 καὶ ποιήσεις στύλους τῇ σκηνῇ εἴκοσι στύλους ἐκ τοῦ κλίτους τοῦ πρὸς βορρᾶν
Make 20 frames for the south side of the Sacred Tent.
19 καὶ τεσσαράκοντα βάσεις ἀργυρᾶς ποιήσεις τοῖς εἴκοσι στύλοις δύο βάσεις τῷ στύλῳ τῷ ἑνὶ εἰς ἀμφότερα τὰ μέρη αὐτοῦ καὶ δύο βάσεις τῷ στύλῳ τῷ ἑνὶ εἰς ἀμφότερα τὰ μέρη αὐτοῦ
[Tell them to] make 40 silver bases to go underneath them. Two bases will go under each frame. The projections [at the bottom] of each frame are [to be made] to fit into the bases.
20 καὶ τὸ κλίτος τὸ δεύτερον τὸ πρὸς νότον εἴκοσι στύλους
[Similarly], [tell them to] make twenty frames for the north side of the Sacred Tent.
21 καὶ τεσσαράκοντα βάσεις αὐτῶν ἀργυρᾶς δύο βάσεις τῷ στύλῳ τῷ ἑνὶ εἰς ἀμφότερα τὰ μέρη αὐτοῦ καὶ δύο βάσεις τῷ στύλῳ τῷ ἑνὶ εἰς ἀμφότερα τὰ μέρη αὐτοῦ
[They] must make 40 silver bases for them also, with two bases to be put under each frame.
22 καὶ ἐκ τῶν ὀπίσω τῆς σκηνῆς κατὰ τὸ μέρος τὸ πρὸς θάλασσαν ποιήσεις ἓξ στύλους
For the rear of the Sacred Tent, on the west side, [tell them to] make six frames.
23 καὶ δύο στύλους ποιήσεις ἐπὶ τῶν γωνιῶν τῆς σκηνῆς ἐκ τῶν ὀπισθίων
Also, [tell them to] make two extra frames, one for each corner of the rear of the Sacred Tent, [to provide extra support].
24 καὶ ἔσται ἐξ ἴσου κάτωθεν κατὰ τὸ αὐτὸ ἔσονται ἴσοι ἐκ τῶν κεφαλίδων εἰς σύμβλησιν μίαν οὕτως ποιήσεις ἀμφοτέραις ταῖς δυσὶν γωνίαις ἔστωσαν
The two corner frames must be joined from the bottom to the top (OR, joined at both the bottom and the top). At the top of each of the two corner frames there must be a gold ring for holding the crossbar.
25 καὶ ἔσονται ὀκτὼ στῦλοι καὶ αἱ βάσεις αὐτῶν ἀργυραῖ δέκα ἕξ δύο βάσεις τῷ στύλῳ τῷ ἑνὶ εἰς ἀμφότερα τὰ μέρη αὐτοῦ καὶ δύο βάσεις τῷ στύλῳ τῷ ἑνί
In that way, [for the rear of the Sacred Tent] there will be eight frames, and there will be 16 bases, two under each frame.
26 καὶ ποιήσεις μοχλοὺς ἐκ ξύλων ἀσήπτων πέντε τῷ ἑνὶ στύλῳ ἐκ τοῦ ἑνὸς μέρους τῆς σκηνῆς
[Tell them to] make 15 crossbars from acacia wood.
27 καὶ πέντε μοχλοὺς τῷ στύλῳ τῷ κλίτει τῆς σκηνῆς τῷ δευτέρῳ καὶ πέντε μοχλοὺς τῷ στύλῳ τῷ ὀπισθίῳ τῷ κλίτει τῆς σκηνῆς τῷ πρὸς θάλασσαν
Five of them will be for the frames on the north side of the Sacred Tent, five will be for the south side, and five for the frames at the rear of the Sacred Tent, the west side.
28 καὶ ὁ μοχλὸς ὁ μέσος ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν στύλων διικνείσθω ἀπὸ τοῦ ἑνὸς κλίτους εἰς τὸ ἕτερον κλίτος
Tell them to fasten the crossbars on the north, south, and west sides of the Sacred Tent to the middle of the frames. The two long ones must extend from one end of the Sacred Tent to the other, and the crossbar on the west side must extend from one side of the Sacred Tent to the other.
29 καὶ τοὺς στύλους καταχρυσώσεις χρυσίῳ καὶ τοὺς δακτυλίους ποιήσεις χρυσοῦς εἰς οὓς εἰσάξεις τοὺς μοχλούς καὶ καταχρυσώσεις τοὺς μοχλοὺς χρυσίῳ
[Tell them to] cover the frames with gold, and make gold rings to fasten the crossbars to the frames. The crossbars must [also] be covered with gold.
30 καὶ ἀναστήσεις τὴν σκηνὴν κατὰ τὸ εἶδος τὸ δεδειγμένον σοι ἐν τῷ ὄρει
Erect the Sacred Tent in the way that I have shown you [here] on [this] mountain.”
31 καὶ ποιήσεις καταπέτασμα ἐξ ὑακίνθου καὶ πορφύρας καὶ κοκκίνου κεκλωσμένου καὶ βύσσου νενησμένης ἔργον ὑφαντὸν ποιήσεις αὐτὸ χερουβιμ
“[Tell them to] make a curtain from fine linen. A skilled craftsman must embroider it with blue, purple, and red yarn/thread, making [designs to represent] the winged creatures [that are above the chest].
32 καὶ ἐπιθήσεις αὐτὸ ἐπὶ τεσσάρων στύλων ἀσήπτων κεχρυσωμένων χρυσίῳ καὶ αἱ κεφαλίδες αὐτῶν χρυσαῖ καὶ αἱ βάσεις αὐτῶν τέσσαρες ἀργυραῖ
[Tell them to] suspend/hang the curtain from four posts made from acacia wood and covered with gold. Set [each] post in a silver base.
33 καὶ θήσεις τὸ καταπέτασμα ἐπὶ τοὺς στύλους καὶ εἰσοίσεις ἐκεῖ ἐσώτερον τοῦ καταπετάσματος τὴν κιβωτὸν τοῦ μαρτυρίου καὶ διοριεῖ τὸ καταπέτασμα ὑμῖν ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ ἁγίου καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ ἁγίου τῶν ἁγίων
[They] must suspend/hang the [top of the] curtain by hooks that are fastened to the roof of the Sacred Tent. Behind the curtain, in the [room called the] Very Holy Place, [they] must put the chest containing the [two stone slabs on which I have written my] commandments. That curtain will separate the Holy Place from the Very Holy Place.
34 καὶ κατακαλύψεις τῷ καταπετάσματι τὴν κιβωτὸν τοῦ μαρτυρίου ἐν τῷ ἁγίῳ τῶν ἁγίων
On top of the chest in the Very Holy Place [they] must put the lid which will be the place where [blood will be sprinkled to] forgive people’s sins.
35 καὶ θήσεις τὴν τράπεζαν ἔξωθεν τοῦ καταπετάσματος καὶ τὴν λυχνίαν ἀπέναντι τῆς τραπέζης ἐπὶ μέρους τῆς σκηνῆς τὸ πρὸς νότον καὶ τὴν τράπεζαν θήσεις ἐπὶ μέρους τῆς σκηνῆς τὸ πρὸς βορρᾶν
[In the room that is] outside of the Very Holy Place, [they] must put the table [for the sacred] bread on the north side, and put the lampstand on the south side.
36 καὶ ποιήσεις ἐπίσπαστρον ἐξ ὑακίνθου καὶ πορφύρας καὶ κοκκίνου κεκλωσμένου καὶ βύσσου κεκλωσμένης ἔργον ποικιλτοῦ
[Tell them to] make a curtain to [cover] the entrance of the Sacred Tent. They must make it from fine linen, and a skilled weaver must embroider it with blue, purple, and red yarn/thread.
37 καὶ ποιήσεις τῷ καταπετάσματι πέντε στύλους καὶ χρυσώσεις αὐτοὺς χρυσίῳ καὶ αἱ κεφαλίδες αὐτῶν χρυσαῖ καὶ χωνεύσεις αὐτοῖς πέντε βάσεις χαλκᾶς
To hold up this curtain, [they] must make five posts from acacia wood. [They] must cover them with gold, and fasten gold clasps/fasteners to them. Also [they] must make a bronze base for each of these posts.”
