After this, Jesus left to go to the other side of the Sea of Galilee (also known as the Sea of Tiberias).

A large crowd was following him, for they'd seen his miracles of healing.

Jesus went up a hill and sat down there with his disciples.

The time for the Jewish festival of the Passover was approaching.

When Jesus looked up, and saw a large crowd coming towards him, he asked Philip, “Where can we buy enough bread to feed all these people?”

He only asked this to see how Philip would respond, because Jesus already knew what he was going to do.

“Two hundred silver coins wouldn't buy enough bread to give everyone even just a little,” Philip replied.

One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, spoke up.
9 “Naacenyendo ye ne ki pia kpanu amu yeni jami lie; lani ba fidi ki tieni be yeni ya nicianba ne?
“There's a boy here who has five barley loaves and a couple of fish, but what good is that when there are so many people?”
10 Jesu ń maadi: «Cedi mani ban kali. Likani den pia ku muagu boncianla. Bi den ki luo niba tuda mu, ban cedi ban kali.
“Have everybody sit down,” Jesus said. There was plenty of grass there, so they all sat down, the men numbering around five thousand.

Jesus took the bread, gave thanks, and had it handed out to the people as they sat there. Then he did the same with the fishes, making sure the people had as much as they wanted.

Once they were all full, he said to his disciples, “Collect what's left over so nothing is wasted.”

So they collected and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves the people had eaten.

When the people saw this miracle, they said, “Surely this is the Prophet who was to come into the world.”
15 Jesu ń bandi ke bi ba cua ki cuo o ki dini o li balcianli, ke o yaadi bi kani, ki kua li juali nni wani obaba.
Jesus realized that they were about to force him to become their king, so he left them and went up into the hills to be by himself.
16 Ku jenjuogu ń pundi, ke o ŋɔdkaaba jiidi mi ñincianma jaali po.
When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea,
17 ki kua ku ŋadgu ki ba puodi li mɔgli, ki gedi Kaperinawuma. Ku ñiagu den bii, ke Jesu da ki guani bi kani.
climbed into a boat, and headed across the water towards Capernaum. By now it was night and Jesus had not joined them yet.

A strong wind began blowing and the sea grew rough.

When they had rowed three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea, coming towards the boat. They were very frightened.

“Don't be afraid!” he told them. “It's me.”

Then they gladly took him into the boat, and immediately they reached the shore where they were going.

The next day the crowd that had stayed on the other side of the sea noticed that there had been only one boat there, and that Jesus had not got into the boat with his disciples, but they had left without him.
23 Lan den fandi ke ŋadtiandi den ñani Tiberiyadi ki cua naani ke Jesu den yadi mi yedŋanma kpanu yeni i jami po ki teni ba ke bi ŋmani yeni,
Then other boats arrived from Tiberias, landing near to the place where they'd eaten the bread once the Lord had blessed it.
24 Li niba ń diidi ki sua ke Jesu yeni o ŋɔdkaaba, obá kuli ki ye li kani, ke bi kua ti ŋaditi, ki gedi Kapernawuma ki baan lingi Jesu.
Once the crowd realized that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they got into the boats and went over to Capernaum, looking for Jesus.
25 Ban puodi li mɔgli, ki la o nepo ya jaali, ke bi buali o: “Rabbi, be yognu i ke a cua ne?”
When they found him on the other side of the sea, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you get here?”

“I tell you the truth,” Jesus replied, “you're looking for me because you ate as much bread as you wanted, not because you understood the miracles.
27 Ya tuuni mani ki da lingi ya jiema n ba dudi ka ama yin ya lingi ya jiema n kan dudi, ki baa tundi ki ye hali ya miali n ki pia gbenma. O nisaalo Bijua n ba teni yi lanya jiema; kelima wani ya po i, ke Báa U Tienu jaa o tanpɔn ki tieni mi banma. (aiōnios g166)
Don't be preoccupied about food that doesn't last, but concentrate on the lasting food of eternal life which the Son of man will give you, for God the Father has placed his seal of approval on him.” (aiōnios g166)
28 Ban buali o: “Ti ba tieni ledi i, ki sɔni U Tienu tuonli?
So they asked him, “What do we have to do in order to do what God wants?”
29 Jesu ń jiini ba: «U Tienu tuonli tie ke yin ya dugi wan sɔni yua ya po i.»
Jesus replied, “What God wants you to do is to trust in the one he sent.”
30 Ban buali o: “A ba tieni o laa yaalidgu bonli i, tin ki bandi, ki dugi a po? A ba tieni be i?
“What miracle are you going to perform for us to see so we can trust you? What are you able to do?” they asked.
31 Ti yaajanba bo dini maani, ki tinkuonga nni, nani lan diani maama: “Ke o teni ba ki tinga kpanu ke bi ŋmani.”
“Our forefathers ate manna in the desert in fulfillment of the Scripture that says, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”
32 Jesu ń maadi ba: «i mɔmɔni, i mɔmɔni, n maadi yi, Moyiis ka bo teni yi tanpoli kpanu; ama n Báa tieni yi tanpoli kpanu mɔnli.
“I tell you the truth, it wasn't Moses who gave you bread from heaven,” Jesus replied. “It's my Father who gives you the true bread of heaven.
33 Kelima U Tienu kpanu tie ya kpanu n ñani tanpoli ki jiidi, ki tieni ŋanduna li miali.
For the bread of God is the one who comes from heaven and gives life to the world.”
34 Ban maadi o: “Ti Diedo, ya tundi ki puuni ti lan ya kpanu.”
“Lord, please give us this kind of bread all the time!” they said.
35 Jesu ń maadi ba: «Mini n tie li miali kpanu. Yua n cua n kani, koma ji kan cuo o, yua n dugi n po mo, ñuñuunu ji kan cuo o.
“I am the bread of life,” Jesus replied. “Anyone who comes to me will never be hungry again, and anyone who trusts in me will never be thirsty again.
36 Ama n maadi yi, i la nni, ama i naa dugi n po.
But as I explained to you before, you have seen me, but you still don't trust me.
37 N Báa ń teni nni yaaba kuli ba cua n kani, yua n cua n kani mo, n kan ñani o niinpo.
All those the Father gives me will come to me, and I won't reject any of them.
38 Kelima n ñani tanoli ki jiidi ke min tieni yaali n ki tie n yanbuama ka ama yua n sɔni nni ya yanbuama i.
For I came down from heaven not to do what I want, but to do what the one who sent me wants.
39 To yua n sɔni nni yanbuama tie ke min da buoni wan teni nni yaali libá kuli, ama ke min guani ki yiedi la li daajuodidaali.
What he wants is for me not to lose anyone he has given to me, but for me to raise them up at the last day.
40 N Báa buama tie ke yua n la Bijua, ki dugi o po ń baa ya miali n ki pia gbenma, ke n go ba yiedi o li daajuodidaali. (aiōnios g166)
What my Father wants is for everyone who sees the Son and trusts in him to have eternal life, and for me to raise them up at the last day.” (aiōnios g166)
41 Juufinba den bulni bulni bi ŋmiali nni, kelima o maadi ke o tie ya kpanu n ñani tanpoli ki jiidi.
Then the Jews began to grumble about him because he had said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.”

They said, “Isn't this Jesus, the son of Joseph? We know his father and his mother. So how can he now tell us, ‘I came down from heaven’?”

“Stop grumbling to each other,” Jesus said.
44 Obá kuli kan fidi ki cua n kani, li nan yaa tie n Báa yua n sɔni nni yaa ka dadi o; n go ba yiedi o li daajuodikaali.
“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me attracts them, and I will raise them up at the last day.
45 Li diani bi sawalpuaba tili nni: “Bi ba tundi bi kuli, ki waani ba U Tienu ń tie yau. Lanwani i, yua n gbadi Báa maama, ki ga o tundli ba cua n kani.
As is written in Scripture by the prophets, ‘Everyone will be taught by God.’ Everyone who listens to and learns from the Father comes to me.
46 Li bua waani ke obá kuli ki la Báa, li nan yaa tie yua n ñani U tienu kani yaa ka; wan wani i, la Báa.
Not that anyone has seen God, except he who is from God; he has seen the Father.
I tell you the truth: anyone who trusts in him has eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
48 Mini n tie li miali kpanu.
I am the bread of life.
49 I yaajanba den dini maana ki tinkuonga nni, ama bi nan den kpe.
Your forefathers ate manna in the desert but they still died.
50 Ne tie ya kpanu n ñani tanpoli ki jiidi, yua n ŋmani lan ya kpanu ji kan kpe.
But this is the bread that comes down from heaven, and anyone who eats it won't ever die.
51 N tie ya kpanu n pia li miali, ki ñani tanpoli ki jiidi. Yua n ŋmani lan ya kpanu, o baa tundi ki pia ya miali n ki pia gbenma; ke min ba teni a kpanu tie n gbannandi, ke n ba teni ŋanduna kuli miali po. (aiōn g165)
I am the life-giving bread from heaven, and anyone who eats this bread will live forever. The bread is my flesh that I give so that the world may live.” (aiōn g165)
52 Wan maadi lani i, ke juufinba ji gagi bi ŋmiali nni, ki maadi: O ba ga ledi i, ki teni ti o gbannandi tin ŋmani ii?
Then the Jews argued heatedly among themselves. “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” they asked.
53 Jesu ń maadi ba: «I mɔmɔni, i mɔmɔni, n maadi yi; i ya ki ŋmani o nisaalo Bijua gbannandi, ki go ki ñuni o sɔma, i kan ya pia miali i niinni.
Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you cannot truly live.
54 Yua n ŋmani n gbannandi ki go ñuni n sɔma baa bia ya miali n ki pia gbenma, n go ba yiedi o li daajuodikaali. (aiōnios g166)
Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. (aiōnios g166)
55 Kelima n gbannandi tie jiemɔndi ke n sɔma mo tie bonñukaali.
For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.
56 Yua n ŋmani n gbannandi ki go ñ̃uni n sɔma baa ye n niinni, ke n mo ye o niinni.
Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood remain in me, and I remain in them.
57 Nani Báa yua n fo ǹ sɔni nni yeni, ke wani Báa po i, ke n pia li miali, lanwani i, yua n ŋmani nni mo baa pia li miali n ya po.
Just as the life-giving Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so anyone who feeds on me will live because of me.
58 Ne tie ya kpanu n ñani tanpoli ki jiidi. li ki tie nana i yaajanba ń bo ŋmani maana, ki nan kpe yeni ka: yua n ŋmani ya kpanu ne ba baa ya miali n ki pia gbenma. (aiōn g165)
Now this is the bread that came down from heaven, not the kind your forefathers ate and still died. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever.” (aiōn g165)
59 Jesu den maadi la ya bona ti jaandiedi nni ki wangi Kapernawuma yaaba.
Jesus explained this while he was teaching in a synagogue at Capernaum.
60 Jesu ŋɔdkaaba siiga nni, boncianli den gbadi ya maama ne ki maadi: “Ya maama ne paa mi gbadma; ŋma ba fidi ki cengi ya maama ne?
Many of his disciples when they heard it said, “This is hard to accept! Who can follow it?”
61 Jesu den bandi ke o ŋɔdkaaba sɔbni ki maadi o ya maama po i, ke o buali ba: «Ya maama ne jiendi yi bii?
Jesus saw that his disciples were complaining about this, so he asked them, “Are you offended by this?
62 I ji ya la ke o nusaalo Bijua, ke o guni ki doni wan den kpia ki ye naani te? ...
Then what if you were to see the Son ascend to where he was before?
63 Mi Foŋanma n puuni li miali; ti gbannandi ki pia fuoma. Min maadi yi ya maama tie fuoma yeni miali.
The Spirit gives life; the physical body doesn't do anything. The words I've told you are spirit and life!
64 Ama i siiga nni, bi tianba ye ki ji pia dudugdi. Kelima Jesu den bani hali mi cilma yaaba n den ki dugi o po yeni yua n ba te janbi.
Yet there are some of you who don't trust me.” (Jesus had known from the very beginning who didn't trust him, and who would betray him.)
65 Ki go pugni: «Lani ya po i, ke n maadi yi ke obá kuli kan fidi ki cua n kani, li nan yaa tie ke Báa n puni o li paabu.
Jesus added, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is made possible by the Father.”
66 Ki cili lanyognu, o ŋɔdkaaba boncianla den fuadi ki ŋa o, kaa ji yegdi yeni o.
From this time on many of Jesus' disciples gave up and no longer followed him.
67 Jesu ń buali o piiga n ŋɔdkaaliedba: «Ke yinba i, i kan sani ki ŋa nni ii?
Then Jesus asked the twelve disciples, “What about you? Do you want to leave as well?”
68 Siimɔn Pieri ń jiini o: “Ti Diedo, ti ba sani ki ŋɔdi ŋma i? Fini n pia ya miali n ki pia gbenma maama. (aiōnios g166)
Simon Peter answered, “Lord, who would we follow? You're the one who has the words of eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
69 Ti dugi a po ki go bandi ke fini n tie Kiristu, U Tienu nigagdiŋamo.
We trust in you, and we're convinced that you are God's Holy One.”
70 Jesu ń jiini ba: «Mini ka lugdi yi yinba piiga n biliediba aa? I siiga nni, yendo tie cicibiadga i.
Jesus replied, “Didn't I choose you, the twelve disciples? Yet one of you is a devil.”
71 O den maadi Siimɔn bijua, Juda Isikariyɔti i; kelima wani n den ba janbi o, ki teni yibalinba, wani yua den tie piiga n biliedba yeni nni, yendo.
(Jesus was referring to Judas, son of Simon Iscariot. He was the one of the twelve disciples who would betray Jesus.)
