< Tito 1 >

1 Yesuus Kiristtoosa hawaareynne Xoossaa aylley, Phawuloosi, xaafida dabddaabbiya. Xoossay doorida asaa ammanuwa dichchanaadanne tuma ayyaana de7uwa waanidi daanekko bessiya tumaa eraakko entta kaalethanaw taani kiitettas.
Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s chosen ones and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness,
2 He ammanoynne eratethay merinaa de7uwa ufayssaa bolla zemppis. Hessa daro wodeppe sinthe worddotonna Xoossay nuus immana gidi qaala gelis. (aiōnios g166)
in hope of eternal life, which God, who can’t lie, promised before time began; (aiōnios g166)
3 Nuna ashshiya Xoossay ba woden ha kiitaa odana mela taw hadara immis.
but in his own time revealed his word in the message with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Saviour,
4 Nu kothe ammanuwan ta tuma na7aa gidida Tito, Xoossaa Aawappenne nuna ashshiya Yesuus Kiristtoosappe aadho keehatethay, maarotethaynne sarotethay new gido.
to Titus, my true child according to a common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.
5 Taani nena Qarxeesen aggada yiday, neeni attidabaa giigisanaadanne taani kiittidayssada katamaa ubban woosa keetha cimata doorana melassa.
I left you in Crete for this reason, that you would set in order the things that were lacking and appoint elders in every city, as I directed you—
6 Cimi borettonnayssa, issi machche azinaa, maara dhayon woykko kiitetetha ixon asi boronna ammaniyaa nayti de7iya asi gidanaw bessees.
if anyone is blameless, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, who are not accused of loose or unruly behaviour.
7 Woosa keetha cimi Xoossaa oosuwa hadara ekkida gisho, borettonnayssa, otorttonayssa, elle yilottonnayssa, mathottonayssa, oda medhdhonayssanne bessonna go77as dafettonayssa gidanaw bessees.
For the overseer must be blameless, as God’s steward, not self-pleasing, not easily angered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for dishonest gain;
8 Shin imathe mokkeyssa, lo77obaa ubbaa doseyssa, akeekanchcho, xillo, geeshshinne bana haareyssa gidanaw bessees.
but given to hospitality, a lover of good, sober minded, fair, holy, self-controlled,
9 Harata suure timirttiyan minthethanawunne he timirttiya ixxeyssata zaaranaw ba tamaarida tuma qaalan minnidi eqqanaw bessees.
holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict those who contradict him.
10 Kiitettonayssati, pathonna oda odetteyssati, cimmeyssati ubbaka qaxxaretetha wogaa naagiya daro asati de7oosona.
For there are also many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,
11 Entti bessonna ogen miishe demmanaw koyidi, tamaarssanaw bessonnabaa tamaarssishe keetha asaa ubbaa iissiya gisho entta timirttiya teqqanaw bessees.
whose mouths must be stopped: men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for dishonest gain’s sake.
12 Entta nabetappe issoy, “Qarxeese asay ubba wode worddo odettoosona; iita do7atanne azalla yarambbata” yaagis.
One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, and idle gluttons.”
13 Ha markkatethay tuma markkatethi. Hessa gisho, enttaw tuma ammanoy daana mela entta hanqetta.
This testimony is true. For this cause, reprove them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,
14 Tuma kiitettonna asaa timirttiyanne Ayhudeta pathonna tossiya si7onna mela entta seera.
not paying attention to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn away from the truth.
15 Banttaw geeshshi gididayssatas ubbay geeshshi, shin tunatasinne ammanonnaysstas entta qofaynne kahay tunida gisho, enttaw aybikka geeshshi gidenna.
To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.
16 Entti nu Xoossaa eroos goosona, shin bantta oosuwan iya kaddoosona. Entti Xoossan ixettidayssata, kiitettonayssatanne lo77o ooso ubbaas gidonnayssata.
They profess that they know God, but by their deeds they deny him, being abominable, disobedient, and unfit for any good work.
