1 Yesuus Kiristtoosa aylle gidida, hawaare gidana mela xeegettidayssafenne Xoossaa Wonggelaa sabbakana mela doorettida Phawuloosi kiittida kiitaa.
From Paul, a slave of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, set apart for a gospel of God,
2 Xoossay daro wodeppe sinthe ba nabeta baggara immana yaagida Wonggelay Xoossaa Geeshsha Maxaafatan xaafettis.
which through his prophets he promised beforetime, in holy writings;
3 He Wonggelay ashon Dawite sheeshaappe yelettida, Xoossaa Na7aa, nu Godaa Yesuus Kiristtoosabaa.
this gospel is concerning his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of David’s posterity in respect of his bodily nature,
4 Qassi I ba geeshsha Ayyaanan hayqoppe denddidi, Xoossaa Na7aa gideyssa gita wolqqan bessis.
but was by his resurrection from the dead instated as Son of God, with power, in respect of his spirit of holiness.
5 Iya baggara Ayhude gidonna asay ubbay, ammanidi kiitettana mela Kiristtoosa sunthaa gisho, Xoossay aadho keehatethinne hawaaretetha maata nuus immis.
It is through him, even Jesus Christ our Lord, that I received grace and apostleship to promote obedience to the faith among all the Gentiles, for his name’s sake;
6 Yesuus Kiristtoosas gidana mela xeegettida asatappe baggati hinttena.
among whom you also are called to be Jesus Christ’s.
7 Roomen de7iya, Xoossay siiqeyssatasinne iya geeshsha dere gidana mela dooridayssatas. Xoossaa nu Aawappenne Godaa Yesuus Kiristtoosappe aadho keehatethaynne sarotethay hinttew gido.
To all that are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints. May God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ, bless you, and give you peace.
8 Ubbaafe koyrottada, hintte ammanoy biitta ubban si7ettida gisho, Yesuus Kiristtoosa baggara hintte gisho ta Xoossaa galatays.
First I thank my God, through Jesus Christ, for all of you, because your faith is being proclaimed throughout all the world.
9 Taani iya Na7aa wonggelabaa kumetha wozanan odiya Xoossay, taani ta woossan ubba wode hinttena qoppeyssas I markka.
God is my witness, to whom I render holy service in my spirit in the gospel of his Son, how unceasingly I am ever making mention of you in my prayers,
10 Wurssethan, Xoossaa shene gidikko, taani hintteko baanaw ogey taw injjetana mela ubba wode woossays.
always entreating him that now at length, if such be his will, the way may be made clear for me to come to you.
11 Taani hinttew Ayyaana imuwa shaakkanawunne hinttena be7anaw laamotays.
For I am longing so to see you, in order to impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established;
12 Hessika, taani hintte ammanuwan, qassi hintte ta ammanuwan minettana melassa.
that is, that I with you may be encouraged by you, each of us by the other’s faith, yours and mine.
13 Ta ishato, taani Ayhude gidonna asaappe ayfe demmidayssada, hinttefekka ayfe demmanaw hintteko baanaw qoppas, shin digettas.
I want you to know, brothers, that many a time I have planned to come to you - though until now I have been hindered - so as to have some harvest-fruit among you also, even as I have among the rest of the Gentiles.
14 Tamaarida asaasinne tamaariboonna asaas qassi cinccatasinne eeyatas taw acoy de7ees.
To Greeks and to barbarians, to the cultured and to the uncultured, I have a debt to discharge.
15 Hessa gisho, Roomen de7iya hinttewuka Wonggelaa odanaw amottays.
So much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome.
16 Iya ammaniyaa ubbaa, koyrottidi Ayhudeta, kaallidi Ayhude gidonnayssata ashshanaw Wonggelay Xoossaa wolqqaa gidiya gisho, ta Wonggelan yeellatikke.
FOR I AM PROUD OF THE GOSPEL. IT IS GOD’S SAVING POWER FOR EVERY ONE WHO BELIEVES. FOR THE JEW FIRST, AND ALSO FOR THE GENTILE.
17 Xilloy ammanon de7on daana geetettidi Geeshsha Maxaafan xaafettis. Wonggelaan Xoossaa xillotethay qonccis; koyroppe wurssethi gakkanaw, asay xilley ammanonna.
FOR IN IT IS BEING REVEALED A RIGHTEOUSNESS WHICH PROCEEDS FROM GOD, FROM FAITH UNTO FAITH; AS IT IS WRITTEN.
18 Tumay erettonna mela bantta iita ooson kammiya asaa bollanne nagara ubbaa bolla, Xoossaa hanqoy saloppe wodhdhees.
For God’s wrath is ever being revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who smother the truth by their unrighteousness.
19 Xoossay enttaw qonccanaw bessiyabaa qonccisida gisho, entti Xoossabaa eroosona.
This is so because that which may be known of God is manifest among them; for God has made it manifest to them.
20 Alamey medhettosappe doomidi, asaas beettonna Xoossaa kanddoy, hessika iya merinaa wolqqaynne Xoossatethay iya medhetethan qonccidi de7iya gisho, asay bantta iitatethaas gaasoyiyabay baawa. (aïdios )
For ever since the creation of the world his invisible nature, even his everlasting power and divinity, has been clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made. So they have no excuse. (aïdios )
21 Entti Xoossaa erishe, iya bonchchibookonanne galatibookkona. Entta qofay maaddonnabaa gidis; entta akeekonna wozanay dhumis.
For although they knew God, yet they did not glorify him as God, nor give him thanks; but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless minds were darkened.
22 Entti banttana cinccata goosona, shin eeyata.
While they professed to be wise, they became fools,
23 Entti hayqqonna Xoossaa goynnanayssa aggidi, hayqqiya asa medhon, kafota medhon, do7ata medhoninne ulora gooshettiyabata daanisidi oothida misileta goynnidosona.
and exchanged the majesty of the imperishable God for an idol, graven in the likeness of perishable man, or of birds and four-footed beasts and creeping things.
24 Hessa gisho, entti issoy issuwara borssobaa oothidi, bantta asatethaa kawushshana mela Xoossay entta wozanay amottiya tuna oosos entta yeggi aggis.
So God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their own bodies;
25 Hessi haniday entti Xoossaa tumaa worddon laammida gishonne medhdhida Xoossaa aggidi, medhetethi goynnida gishossa. Xoossay merinaw galatettidayssa. Amin7i. (aiōn )
because they exchanged the truth of God for an untruth, and worshiped and served the creature, rather than the Creator who is blessed forever. Amen. (aiōn )
26 Hessa gisho, Xoossay enttana entta borsso amuwaas yeggi aggis. Entta maccasay bantaw bessiya addera gaytethi aggidi, bessonnabaa hanidi maccasi maccasara gayttidosona.
That is why God has given them up to passions of dishonor; for on the one hand their women actually changed the natural function of sex into that which is against nature;
27 Hessadakka, addeti bantaw bessiya maccasara gaytethi aggidi, addey addera gayttidosona. Addeti issoy issuwara amon xuugettidi, borssobaa oothidosona. Bantta oothida balaas bessiya pirddaa ekkidosona.
and on the other hand their men likewise abandoned the natural use of women, and were ablaze with passion for one another; men with men practising shameless acts and receiving in their own person that recompense of their wrong-doing which necessarily followed.
28 Entti Xoossaa erishe, hari attoshin iyabaa qoppanaw koyonna ixxida gisho, bessonnabaa oothana mela Xoossay enttana pathonna qofas aathi immis.
And just as they refused to continue to retain God in their knowledge, so did God cast them out to an outcast mind, to do those things which were indecent.
29 Enttan geellatethi, iitatethi, yiiqey, geney, qanaatey, shemppo wodhoy, palami, cimoynne iita amoy kumis. Entti zigireyssata,
They were overflowing with every kind of iniquity, depravity, greed, and malice. They were full of envy, murder, quarreling, deceit, and malignity.
30 asa sunthi iisseyssata, Xoossaa ixxeyssata, cayeyssata, otoreyssata, ceeqetteyssata, iitabaa oothanaw koyeyssatanne bantta aayesinne aawas kiitettonayssata,
They became whisperers, back-biters, hated of God, insolent, haughty, boastful. They invented sins. They were disobedient to parents.
31 akeekonnayssata, caaqo mentheyssata, siiqoy baynnayssata, qadhey baynnayssata.
They were without sense, without faith, without natural affection, without mercy.
32 Hayssata mela ootheyssatas hayqoy bessees giya Xoossaa higgiya erishe, hayssata oothoosona. Entti banttaw ooso xalaala gidonnashin, oothiya haratakka nashshoosona.
Though they knew well the ordinance of God, that those who practise such vices are worthy of death, they not only continue to do the same, but were even applauding those who practise vice.
