< Maatoosa 15 >

1 Hessafe guye, issi issi Farisaawetinne higge asttamaareti Yerusalaameppe Yesuusakko yidi,
Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees that were of Jerusalem, saying:
2 “Ne tamaareti ays nu aawata wogaa menthonaa? Entti kathi maanappe sinthe bantta kushiya meecettokona” yaagidi oychchidosona.
Why do your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.
3 Yesuusi zaaridi, “Hinttee, hintte wogaa gisho, Xoossaa kiitaa poleyssa ays ixxeeti?
But he answered and said to them: And why do you transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?
4 Ays giikko, Xoossay, ‘Ne aawanne ne aayiw bonchcha. I ba aawa woykko ba aayiw cayeyssi hayqo gibeennee?’ yaagis.
For God commanded, saying, Honor your father and your mother; and, He that curses father or mother shall surely be put to death.
5 Shin hintte, issi asi ba aawa woykko ba aayiw maaddanabay de7ishin, ‘Hayssa ta Xoossas yarshshas giikko,
But you say, Whoever shall say to his father or his mother, Whatever of mine might profit you, is a gift, he must in no way honor his father or his mother;
6 ba aawa woykko ba aayiw bonchchanaw bessenna’ yaageeta. Yaatidi hinttee, hintte wogaa polanaw Xoossaa qaala mentheeta.
and you make the commandment of God of no effect for the sake of your tradition.
7 Hinttenoo, cubboto, Isayaasi hinttebaa likke odis,
Hypocrites! well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,
8 “Ha asay tana bantta doonan bonchchees, shin entta wozanay taappe haahon de7ees.
This people draws near to me with their mouth, and honors me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 Asay tana coo goynnosona; entti asi medhdhida kiitaa Xoossaa higge daanisidi tamaarssoosona” gis’ yaagis.
But in vain, do they worship me, teaching precepts, the commandments of men.
10 Yesuusi daro asaa baakko xeegidi, “Si7ite! Akeekite!
And he called the multitude to him, and said to them: Hear and understand;
11 Ase tunisiyabay doonara geliyaba gidonnashin doonappe keyaabaa” yaagis.
That which enters the mouth does not defile the man; but that which comes out of the mouth, this defiles the man.
12 Hessafe guye, Yesuusa tamaareti iyaakko yidi, “Farisaaweti neeni gidayssa si7idi dhubettidayssa akeekay?” yaagidosona.
Then came his disciples and said to him: Dost thou know that the Pharisees, when they heard that saying, were offended?
13 Shin Yesuusi enttaw zaaridi, “Saluwan de7iya ta aaway tokkiboonna mithay ubbay shodettana.
But he answered and said: Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted, shall be rooted up.
14 Enttabaa hirggofite; entti qooqe kaalethiya qooqeta. Qooqey qooqe kaalethiko, nam77ayka ollan kunddana” yaagis.
Let them alone; they are blind leaders of the blind; and if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into the pit.
15 Phexiroosi zaaridi, “Ha leemisuwa birshshethaa nuus odarkkii” yaagis.
But Peter answered and said to him: Explain to us this dark saying.
16 Yesuusi enttako, “Hinttewuka ha77i gakkanaw gelibeennee?
Jesus replied: Are you also yet without understanding?
17 Doonara geliyabaa ubbay ulo gelidi kare keyeyssa erekketii?
Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth passes into the belly, and is cast out into the sink?
18 Shin doonara keyaabay wozanappe keyees. Ase tunisiyabati hessata.
But those things which go out from the mouth, come from the heart; and these defile the man.
19 Enttika asa wozana giddofe keyaa iita qofa, wodho, laymatethi, iita ooso, kayso, worddo markka, cashshe.
For from the heart come evil reasonings, murders, adulteries, lewd actions, thefts, false testimonies, impious words.
20 Hessa daaniyabati ase tuniseesippe attin meecettonna kushera meyssi tunisenna” yaagis.
These are the things that defile the man. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man.
21 Hessafe guye, Yesuusi yaappe keyidi Xiiroosanne Sidoona katamati de7iya biittaa bis.
And Jesus went out thence, and withdrew into the regions of Tyre and Sidon.
22 Issi Kanaane biitta maccas Yesuusakko yada, ba qaalaa dhoqqu oothada, “Godaw, Dawite na7aw, taw qadhettarkii; ta na7iw tuna ayyaanay oykkidi iita waayses” yaagasu.
And behold, a woman of Chanaan came out from those borders, and cried to him, saying: Have mercy on me, Lord, son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a demon.
23 Shin Yesuusi issi qaalakka zaaronna si7i gis. Yesuusa tamaareti iyaakko yidi, “Ha maccasiya nu geedo kaalla kaallada, woossawusu. Hessa gisho, neeni iyo moyzarkkii” yaagidi woossidosona.
But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying: Send her away, for she cries after us.
24 Yesuusi zaaridi, “Taani Isra7eele keethaafe wudeppe dhayida dorssatada dhayida asata xalaalas kiitettas” yaagis.
But he answered and said: I am not sent but to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Shin iya sinthan kunddada, “Godaw, tana maaddarkii?” yaagasu.
But she came and did him homage, saying: Lord, help me.
26 I zaaridi, “Nayta kathi ekkidi kanatas yeggeyssi lo77o gidenna” yaagis.
He answered and said: It is not good to take the children’s bread, and throw it to the little dogs.
27 Maccasiyakka, “Godaw, hessi tuma, shin hari attoshin kanati bantta godati mishin, gaytappe wodhdhiya tiifiya moosona” yaagasu.
She replied: Yes, Lord; and yet thou canst help me; for the little dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from the table of their masters.
28 Yesuusi zaaridi, “Ha maccasete, ne ammanoy gita; ne koyidayssada new hano” yaagis. I na7iya iirakka paxa aggasu.
Then Jesus answered and said to her: O woman, great is your faith; be it to you as you desire. And her daughter was restored to health from that hour.
29 Yesuusi yaappe denddidi Galiila Abbaa mati bis. Issi dere bolla keyidi, yan uttis.
And Jesus departed thence, and came near the sea of Galilee, and went up into the mountain, and sat there.
30 Daro asay banttara, wobbeta, qooqeta, kuunata, doona muumetanne, hara daro hargganchchota ekkidi, iyaakko ehidi iya sinthan wothidosona. Yesuusi enttana pathis.
And many multitudes came to him, having with them the lame, the blind, the deaf, the maimed, and many others; and laid them at the feet of Jesus, and he cured them;
31 Hessa gisho, muumeti odettishin, kuunati piddi gishin, wobbeti hamuttishin, qooqeti xeellishin asay be7idi malaalettidi, Isra7eeleta Xoossaa galatidosona.
so that the multitudes were astonished, when they saw the dumb speaking, the maimed whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.
32 Yesuusi ba tamaareta baakko xeegidi, “Ha daro asay taara heedzu gallas gam77ida gishonne enttaw ha77i miyabay baynna gisho taani enttaw qadhettays. Entti ogen daaburidi kunddonna mela aykko muzonna entta mela yeddanaw koyikke” yaagis.
Then Jesus called his disciples to him, and said: I have compassion on the multitude, because they have been with me now three days, and have nothing to eat. And I am not willing to send them away fasting, lest they faint on the road.
33 Iya tamaareti zaaridi, “Nuuni ha bazzuwan hayssa keena asaas gidiya kathi awuppe demmanee?” yaagidosona.
And his disciples said to him: Whence should we have in the desert as many loaves as would satisfy so great a multitude?
34 Yesuusi enttako, “Hinttew aappun uythi de7ii?” yaagidi oychchis. Entti zaaridi, “Laappun uythinne laafa molotappe guuthi de7ees” yaagidosona.
And Jesus said to them: How many loaves have you? They said: Seven, and a few little fishes.
35 Yesuusi deriya sa7an uttite yaagidi kiittis.
And he commanded the multitude to recline on the ground.
36 Hessafe guye, he laappun uythaanne moluwa ekkidi Xoossaa galatis. Menthidi ba tamaaretas immis. Iya tamaareti daro asaas gishidosona.
And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and broke, and gave thorn to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the multitude.
37 Asay ubbay midi kallidosona. Mishin attida tiifiya laappun gita gayta kumethi iya tamaareti denthidosona.
And they all ate and were satisfied; and they took up what remained of the broken pieces, seven baskets full.
38 Mida asay maccasinne na7a paydonna adde xalaali oyddu mukulu.
And those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.
39 Yesuusi deriya yeddidaappe guye wogoluwan gelidi Megedoona giya biittaa bis.
And he sent the multitudes away, and entered the ship, and went into the borders of Magdala.
