1 Yesuusi ba tamaaretakko, “Issi dure uraas iyappe garssara issi shuumay de7ees. He shuumay ba godaa shaluwa toochchees yaagiya worey keethaawa gakkis.
And He said also to his disciples, There was a certain rich man, who had a steward; and he was accused to him of wasting his goods.
2 Keethaaway shuumaa xeegisidi, ‘Taani woygiyabaa si7adinaa? Hizappe neeni ta keethas shuuma gidada oothanaw dandda7onna gisho ta shaluwa taw sheedhdha’ yaagis.
And he called him, and said unto him, What is this I hear of thee? give up the accounts of thy stewardship, for thou canst be no longer steward.
3 “He shuumaykka ba wozanan hayssada yaagidi qoppis. ‘Ta goday tana shuumatethaafe wothana hanees, goya aqanaw wolqqi baawa, woossa maanaw yeellayees; yaatin ta waano?
And the steward said in himself, What shall I do? now my master takes away the stewardship from me; I am not able to work, and I am ashamed to beg.
4 Shuumatethaafe ta wodhdhiya wode asay tana mokkana mela oothanabaa ta erays’ yaagis.
I know what I will do, that when I am turned out of my place, they may receive me into their houses.
5 “Hessa gisho, iya godaa acoy de7iya asaa issuwa issuwa xeegi ehidi koyro uraakko, ‘Ne bolla ta godaa acoy ay meli de7ii?’ yaagidi oychchis.
So he called his master's debtors to him, and said to the first, How much owest thou to my master? and he said, an hundred baths of oil.
6 “I, ‘Laatamu barmeele zayte acoy de7ees’ yaagis. “Shuumay, ‘Wule warqattiya he7e, ellesada, tammu barmeele zayte acoy de7ees gada xaafa’ yaagis.
And he said to him, Take thy bill, and sit down and write but fifty.
7 “Hessafe kaallidi nam77anthuwako, ‘New aappuni de7ii?’ yaagis. “I, ‘370 kunttaale gistte acoy de7ees’ yaagis. “Shuumay, “Ne wule warqattiya he7e, ellesada, 296 kunttaale yaagada xaafa’ yaagis.
Then he said to another, And how much owest thou? and he said, an hundred measures of wheat: and he said to him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore.
8 Keethaaway ammanettiboonna shuumaa iya bilaamatethaas nashshis. Ha alamiya nayti ase oythan poo7o naytappe aadhdhida wozanaamata. (aiōn )
And his master commended the dishonest steward as having acted prudently: for the men of this world are as to their affairs wiser than the children of light. (aiōn )
9 “Hessa gisho, ta hinttew odays; ha alamiya miishey wuriya wode merinaa keethan mokettana mela ha miishiyara hinttew laggeta shammite. (aiōnios )
And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends with these unrighteous treasures, that when they fail, ye may be received into everlasting habitations. (aiōnios )
10 Ubbaafe guuthaban ammanettiday daroban ammanettidayssa gidees. Qassi ubbaafe guuthaban ammanettonnayssi daroban ammanettenna.
He, that is faithful in the lest, is faithful also in much: and he, that is unjust in the lest, is unjust also in much.
11 Hiza, ha alamiya miishen hintte ammanettonna ixxiko tuma miishe hinttew ooni hadara immanee?
If therefore ye have not been faithful in the false riches, who will intrust you with the true?
12 Hintte hara asa miishen ammanettonna ixxiko, hintte buzo miishe hinttew ooni immanee?”
and if ye have not been faithful in that which was another's, who will give you that which is your own?
13 “Issi aylley nam77u godatas haarettanaw dandda7enna. Issuwa ixxiko hankkuwa dosees woykko issuwako shiiqikko hankkuwa kadhees. Hessadakka, hintte Xoossasinne miishes haarettanaw dandda7ekketa.
No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or at lest he will be attached to the one, and neglect the other. Ye cannot serve God and Mammon.
14 “Miishe dosiya Farisaaweti hessa si7ida wode Yesuusa qelqisidosona.
And the pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things; and derided Him.
15 I, hinttee hinttena asa sinthan xilliseeta, shin Xoossay hintte wozanaa erees. Asa sinthan bonchchettidayssi Xoossaa sinthan borettidayssa.
And He said unto them, Ye justify yourselves before men, but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
16 “Muse higgeynne nabeta kiitay Yohaannisa gakkanaw hinttew odettishe gam77is. Hessafe guye, Xoossaa kawotethaa Wonggelaa odettishe gam77is. Asi ubbay yaa gelanaw dafettees.
The law and the prophets continued until John: from that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every one presseth into it.
17 Gidoshin, higgiyafe issi laafa pidaaley attanaappe saloynne sa7ay aadhdheyssi kawuyees.
Though it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away, than one tittle of the law to fail.
18 “Ba machchiw yeddidi haraa ekkiya ubbay laammees. Ba azinaappe anjjettidaaro ekkeysika laammees” yaagis.
Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery; and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.
19 “Al77onne alleeqo afila ma77iya, sa7i injjetin gallas gallas ufayssan de7iya issi dure asi de7ees.
Now there was a certain rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen, living voluptuously and splendidly every day.
20 Hari qassi asatethay kumethi madunxida issi Alaazara geetettiya manqoy he dure uraa karen yegeti attidayssi de7ees.
And there was a poor man named Lazarus,
21 Koshappe denddoyssan dure uraa gaytappe wodhdhiya tiifiya maanaw amottishe de7ees. Hari attoshin, kanati yidi iya madunthaa laaccosona.
who was laid at his gate full of sores, and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man's table: and the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass that the poor man died,
22 “He manqoyka hayqqis; kiitanchchoti iya Abrahaame ki7uwa efidosona. Qassi dure uraykka hayqqidi moogettis.
and was carried by angels to Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried.
23 Si7oolen un77ettidi de7ishe dhoqqu gidi haahon Abrahamenne iya ki7on de7iya Alaazara be7is. (Hadēs )
And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham from afar, and Lazarus in his bosom. (Hadēs )
24 I, ‘Aawaw Abrahaame, taw qadhettarkii; ha laco taman un77ettada de7iya gisho Alaazari ba biradhdhiya haathan yeddidi ta inxarssa laakothana mela hayyana iya yeddarkki’ yaagidi waassis.
And he cried out and said, Father Abraham, have pity on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25 “Shin Abrahamey iyaakko, ‘Ta na7aw, ne sa7an de7iya wode lo77obaata ekkidayssa, qassi Alaazari iitabata ekkidayssa akeeka. Shin ha77i I hayssan ufayttees, qassi neeni waayettashe de7aasa’ yaagis.
And Abraham said, Son, remember that thou receivedst thy good things in thy life-time, and likewise Lazarus his evils: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
26 Ha ubbaafe aadhdhidi, ‘Haappe hintteko, hinippe haa nuukko aadhdhanaw koyeyssati pinnonna mela nuusinne hinttes giddon gita aafoy de7ees’ yaagis.
And besides, there is a great gulf fixed between us and you; so that they, who would pass from hence to you, cannot; nor can they pass to us, who would come from thence.
27 “Dure uray, ‘Aawaw, yaakko Alaazara ta aawa soo kiittana mela ta nena woossays.
Then he said, Therefore I intreat thee, Father, that thou wouldst send him to my father's house:
28 Taw ichchashu ishati de7idosona, enttika ha waaye bessaa yoonna mela enttaw bidi markkatto’ yaagis.
for I have five brethren; that he may testify to them my misery, least they also come into this place of torment.
29 “Shin Abrahamey, ‘Enttaw Museranne nabetara de7oosona; entti odiyabaa si7onna’ yaagis.
Abraham answered him, They have Moses and the prophets, let them hear them:
30 “Dure uray, ‘Aawaw Abrahaame, hessatho gidenna; issi asi hayqoppe denddidi biikko entti maarotan gelana’ yaagis.
and he said, Nay, father Abraham, but if one went to them from the dead, they will repent.
31 “Abrahamey, ‘Musenne nabeta si7onna ixxiko, hari attoshin hayqoppe issi asi denddi odikkoka ammanokkona’ yaagis.”
And he replied, If they hearken not to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one should rise from the dead.
