< Galaatiya 3 >
1 Hinttenoo, akeeki baynna Galaatiya asato, hintte ayfiyaa sinthan Kiristtoosi masqale bolla kaqettida misileda qonccidi benttees. Yaatin, tumaas hintte kiitettonna mela hinttena bitiday oonee?
Foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you not to obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was openly portrayed amongst you as crucified?
2 Ta issibaa eranaw koyays; hintte Geeshsha Ayyaana ekkiday higge naagidiyye woykko hintte si7ida Wonggelaa ammanidi ekkideti?
I just want to learn this from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?
3 Hintte hessa mela eeye? Hintte Xoossaa Ayyaanan doomidi, ha77i wolqqan polanaw koyeetii?
Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now completed in the flesh?
4 Hintte Wonggelaa gaason daro waayettiday melee? He waaye ubbay coo gididee?
Did you suffer so many things in vain, if it is indeed in vain?
5 Xoossay hinttew Geeshsha Ayyaana immeynne hintte giddon malaatata oothey, hintte higge naagida gishoyye woykko Wonggelaa si7idi ammanida gisho?
He therefore who supplies the Spirit to you and does miracles amongst you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?
6 Ane Abrahaame be7ite, “I Xoossaa ammanis; Xoossay iyaw hessa xillotethi oothidi ekkis” geetettidi xaafettis.
Even so, Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.”
7 Hiza, ammaneyssati Abrahaame nayta gideyssa erite.
Know therefore that those who are of faith are children of Abraham.
8 Xoossay Ayhude gidonna asaa ammanon xillisanayssa Geeshsha Maxaafay be7idi, “Kawotetha ubbay nenan anjjettana” yaagidi, Wonggelaa Abrahames kasetidi odis.
The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the Good News beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you all the nations will be blessed.”
9 Hessa gisho, ammaniyaa ubbay ammanida Abrahamera issife anjjettidosona.
So then, those who are of faith are blessed with the faithful Abraham.
10 Higge naagidi xillana giya oonikka qanggettidayssa. Ays giikko, Geeshsha Maxaafan, “Higge maxaafan xaafettida ubbaa naagonna oonikka qanggettidayssa gido” geetettidi xaafettis.
For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written, “Cursed is everyone who doesn’t continue in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them.”
11 “Xilloy ammanon daana” geetettidi xaafettida gisho, oonikka Xoossaa sinthan higge naagidi xillonnayssi erettidabaa.
Now that no man is justified by the law before God is evident, for, “The righteous will live by faith.”
12 Higgey ammanon zemppenna. Shin, “Higgiya naagiya oonikka higgiyan de7on daana” yaagees.
The law is not of faith, but, “The man who does them will live by them.”
13 “Mitha bolla kaqettidi hayqqiya oonikka qanggettidayssa” geetetti xaafettida gisho, Kiristtoosi nu gisho qanggettidayssa gididi, nuna higge qanggethafe wozis.
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,”
14 Xoossay Abrahames immida anjjoy, Yesuus Kiristtoosa baggara Ayhude gidonna asaa gakkana melanne Xoossay immana gida Geeshsha Ayyaana nuuni ammanon ekkana mela hessa oothis.
that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
15 Ta ishato, ta hinttew asa de7on meeze gididi de7iyabaa leemiso oothada odays. Asi caaqqida caaqoy minnidaappe guye, oonikka he caaquwa shaaranaw woykko iya bolla haraa gujjanaw dandda7enna.
Brothers, speaking of human terms, though it is only a man’s covenant, yet when it has been confirmed, no one makes it void or adds to it.
16 Xoossay he keeke qaalaa Abrahamesinne iya zerethaas immis. Geeshsha Maxaafay, daro asas odiyada, “Ne zerethatas” geenna. Shin issi asas odiyada, “Ne zerethaas” yaagees; ikka Kiristtoosa.
Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his offspring. He doesn’t say, “To descendants”, as of many, but as of one, “To your offspring”, which is Christ.
17 Taani gey hayssa; oyddu xeetanne hasttamu laythafe guye imettida higgey, koyro Xoossay minthida caaquwa shaaridi ufayssa qaala dhayssanaw dandda7enna.
Now I say this: A covenant confirmed beforehand by God in Christ, the law, which came four hundred and thirty years after, does not annul, so as to make the promise of no effect.
18 Xoossay immiya laatay higgen ekettiyabaa gidiyakko Xoossay immida ufayssaa baggara gideyssi attees. Shin Xoossay ba aadho keehatethan laata Abrahames ufayssa qaala baggara immis.
For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no more of promise; but God has granted it to Abraham by promise.
19 Yaatin, higgey ays imettidee? Higgey imettiday, Abrahames ufayssa qaali imettida zerethay yaana gakkanaw iita oosoy aybeekko erisanaassa. Higgey kiitanchchota baggara imettidi, gido gididi sigethiya issi asa baggara ooso bolla pee7is.
Then why is there the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the offspring should come to whom the promise has been made. It was ordained through angels by the hand of a mediator.
20 Giddo gididi sigethiya uray issi asa xalaalas gidenna, shin Xoossay issino.
Now a mediator is not between one, but God is one.
21 Yaatin, higgey Xoossaa ufayssa qaalara eqettiyye? Akkay, gidenna! Higgey imettiday asas de7o immanaw gidiyakko, xillotethi higge baggara benttanashin.
Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could make alive, most certainly righteousness would have been of the law.
22 Shin Yesuus Kiristtoosa ammanin benttiya ufayssa qaalay ammaneyssatas imettana mela kumetha alamey nagaras haarettidi de7eyssa Geeshsha Maxaafay odees.
But the Scripture imprisoned all things under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
23 Shin ammanoy yaanappe kase higgey nuna qachchi wothis. He ammanoy qonccana gakkanaw higgey nu bolla gorddi wothis.
But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, confined for the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24 Hessa gisho, nuuni ammanon xillana mela Kiristtoosi yaana gakkanaw higgey na7a naagiya asa mela nuna naageyssa gidis.
So that the law has become our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 Shin ha77i ammanoy yida gisho, higgey hizappe guye na7a naagiya asa mela nuna naageyssi attis.
But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.
26 Hintte ubbay Yesuus Kiristtoosa ammanidi Xoossaa nayta gidideta.
For you are all children of God, through faith in Christ Jesus.
27 Kiristtoosara issino gidanaw xammaqettida ubbay Kiristtoosa ma7oda ma77ideta.
For as many of you as were baptised into Christ have put on Christ.
28 Hintte ubbay Kiristtoosan issino gidiya gisho, Ayhude asaa giddoninne Girike asaa giddon, aylle giddoninne womaanno giddon, adde giddoninne maccasa giddon dummatethi baawa.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 Hiza, hintte Kiristtoosabaa gidikko hintte Abrahaame zare. Xoossaa ufayssa qaalada hintte laatteyssata.
If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring and heirs according to promise.
