< Hawaareta Oosuwa 5 >
1 Issi Hananiya giya addey ba machche Saphphiirira gade bayzis.
But a certain man named Ananias, with Sappirah, his wife, sold a possession,
2 He bayzida miishiyappe ba machchiya erishin baggaa ashshidi, attidayssa ehidi hawaaretas immis.
and kept back part of the price, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part, and put it at the apostles' feet.
3 Shin Phexiroosi Hananiyakko, “Neeni Geeshsha Ayyaana cimmana melanne gadiya bayzida miishiyappe shaakkada ashshana mela Xalahey ne wozanan ays gelidee?
But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
4 Neeni bayzanaappe kase gadey nebaa gidenneyye? Qassi neeni bayza simminkka miishey nebaa gidenneyye? Yaatin, hessa melabaa oothanaw ays ne wozanan qoppadii? Neeni Xoossaa bolla worddotadasappe attin asa bolla worddotabaakka” yaagis.
While you kept it, did not it remain your own? After it was sold, was not it in your power? How is it that you have conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to people, but to God."
5 Hananey he qaala si7ida mela kunddidi hayqqis; hessa si7ida ubbay daro yayyis.
Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and died. Great fear came on all who heard it.
6 Naatethaa asati soo gelidi iya ahaa xaaxidi efidi moogidosona.
The young men arose and wrapped him up, and they carried him out and buried him.
7 Heedzu saateppe guye Hananiya machchiya hessa eronna de7ashe Phexiroosi de7iyasuwa gelasu.
About three hours later, his wife, not knowing what had happened, came in.
8 Phexiroosi iikko, “Hintte gadiya hayssa mela miishes bayzideti? Ane taw oda” yaagis. Iyakka, “Ee, hayssa mela miishes bayzida” yaagasu.
Peter answered her, "Tell me whether you sold the land for so much." She said, "Yes, for so much."
9 Phexiroosi maccasiw, “Neeranne ne azinaara Godaa Ayyaana paaccanaw ays zorettidetii? Hekko, ne azina moogida asati karen de7oosona; nenakka entti kare kessana” yaagis.
But Peter asked her, "How is it that you have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out."
10 Maccasiya iirakka Phexiroosa tohuwa matan kunddada hayqqa aggasu; na7atethati geliya wode hayqqidaaro demmidi kare kessidi, I azina matan moogidosona.
She fell down immediately at his feet, and died. The young men came in and found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her by her husband.
11 Kumetha woosa keethaynne hessa si7ida hara asay ubbay daro yayyidosona.
Great fear came on the whole church, and on all who heard these things.
12 Hawaareti daro malaatatanne oorathabata asaa giddon oothoosona. Ammaniya ubbay Solomone baaranddan issife shiiqosona.
By the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. They were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.
13 Hara asappe enttara gayttanaw issi asikka minnibeenna, shin asay entta bonchchees.
None of the rest dared to join them, however the people honored them.
14 Ammaniya addetanne maccasata tayboy kaseyssafe darishe bis.
More believers were added to the Lord, crowds of both men and women.
15 Hessa gisho, asay hargganchchota halaninne alggan tookkidi Phexiroosi aadhdhiya wode iya kuyay enttafe issota issota bolla shemppana mela oge doonan kessidi wothoosona.
They even carried out the sick into the streets, and put them on cots and mats, so that as Peter came by at the least his shadow would fall on some of them.
16 Qassi daro asay Yerusalaame matan de7iya katamatappe hargganchchotanne tuna ayyaanay waaysiya asata ekkidi yoosona; ubbayka paxidosona.
Crowds also came together from the cities around Jerusalem, bringing sick people, and those who were tormented by unclean spirits: and they were all healed.
17 Kahine halaqaynne iyara de7iya Saduqaaweti ubbay qanaaten kumidi hawaareta bolla denddidosona.
But the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with jealousy,
18 Hawaareta oykkidi deriya qasho keethan yeggidosona.
and laid hands on the apostles, and put them in public custody.
19 Shin Godaa kiitanchchoy qamma qasho keethaa penggiya dooyidi hawaareta kare kessidi,
But an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors by night, and brought them out, and said,
20 “Bidi, Xoossa Keethan eqqidi ha ooratha de7o qaala asa ubbaa odite” yaagis.
"Go stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life."
21 Hawaareti hessa si7ida wode wontta guura Xoossa Keethi gelidi tamaarsso doomidosona. Kahineta halaqaynne iyara de7eyssati yidi, Isra7eele cimata ubbaa xeegi shiishidi hawaareta bantta sinthe ehana mela wotaaddareta qasho keethi kiittidosona.
When they heard this, they entered into the temple about daybreak, and taught. But the high priest came, and those who were with him, and called the council together, and all the elders of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.
22 Shin wotaaddareti qasho keethi bidi hawaareta demmibookkona. Guye simmi yidi deriyas,
But the officers who came did not find them in the prison. They returned and reported,
23 “Nuuni biya wode qasho keetha penggey minthi gorddettin, naageyssati penggen eqqidayssata demmida. Shin nuuni kariya dooyiya wode giddon hari attoshin issi asikka baawa” yaagidosona.
"We found the prison shut and locked, and the guards standing before the doors, but when we opened them, we found no one inside."
24 Hessa gisho, Xoossa Keethaa wotaaddareta kiitteysinne kahine halaqati hessa si7ida wode, “Hawaareta bolla aybi haanidee?” yaagidi hirggidosona.
Now when the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these words, they were very perplexed about them and what might become of this.
25 He wode issi addey enttako yidi, “Hekko, qasho keethi hintte gelssida asati Xoossa Keethan eqqidi asaa tamaarssoosona” yaagidi enttaw odis.
One came and told them, "Look, the men whom you put in prison are in the temple, standing and teaching the people."
26 Xoossa Keethaa wotaaddareta kiitteyssi ba wotaaddaretara bidi hawaareta ehis. Shin entti bantana asay shuchchan caddana gidi yayyida gisho entta aaddashidi ehidosona.
Then the captain went with the officers, and brought them without violence, for they were afraid that the people might stone them.
27 Entti hawaareta ehidi, shiiqida shangguwa sinthan essin kahine halaqay enttako,
When they had brought them, they set them before the council. The high priest questioned them,
28 “Hinttena nuuni he uraa sunthan tamaarssonna mela minthidi kiittibookko? Hekko, hintte timirttiya Yerusalaame katamaa ubbaa gathideta. He uraa shemppuwas nuna oythanaw qoppeeti?” yaagidi oychchis.
saying, "Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and intend to bring this man's blood on us."
29 Phexiroosaranne hankko hawaaretara enttaw zaarishe, “Nuuni asas kiitettanaappe Xoossas kiitettanaw bessees.
But Peter and the apostles answered, "We must obey God rather than people.
30 Masqaliya bolla hintte kaqqidi wodhida Yesuusa nu aawata Xoossay hayqoppe denthis.
The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you killed, hanging him on a tree.
31 Isra7eeleti nagaraappe simmana melanne entta nagaray atto geetettana mela Xoossay Yesuusa haareyssanne ashsheyssa oothidi bonchchon baappe ushachcha baggan utisis.
God exalted him with his right hand to be a Leader and a Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
32 Hessas nuuni markka; qassi Xoossay bana ammaneyssatas immida Geeshsha Ayyaanaykka markka” yaagidosona.
We are witnesses of these things; and so also is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him."
33 Shiiqida asay hessa si7ida wode daro yilottidi, hawaareta wodhanaw qoppidosona.
But they, when they heard this, were furious, and wanted to kill them.
34 Shin asa ubban daro bonchchettida Gamaaliyale geetetteyssi issi higge asttamaareynne Farisaawey denddi eqqidi hawaareta guutha wodes kare kessana mela kiittis.
But one stood up in the council, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the Law, honored by all the people, and commanded to put the men out for a little while.
35 Hessafe guye, shiiqida asaakko, “Isra7eele asato, ha asata bolla hintte oothanaw qoppiyabaappe naagettite.
He said to them, "You men of Israel, be careful concerning these men, what you are about to do.
36 Ays giikko, hayssafe kase Tewodaasi bana, ‘Taani gita’ gidi denddin, oyddu xeetu gidiya asati iyara issifidosona. Shin iya wodhin iya kaallida ubbay laalettin pathonna asi gididi attidosona.
For before these days Todah rose up, making himself out to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were dispersed, and came to nothing.
37 Hessafe guye, asay taybettiya wode Galiila Yihudi denddidi daro asa panggayidi kaalethis, shin iyakka wodhin iya kaallida asay ubbay laalettis.
After this man, Judas of Galilee rose up in the days of the enrollment, and drew away some people after him. He also perished, and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered abroad.
38 Ha77ika ta hinttew odays; ha asatappe shaakettite; entta bochchofite. Ays giikko, ha qofaanne ha oosuwa asi oothiyabaa gidikko dhayana.
Now I tell you, withdraw from these men, and leave them alone. For if this counsel or this work is of human origin, it will be overthrown.
39 Shin ha qofaynne ha oosoy Xoossafe yidabaa gidikko, hintte entta dhayssanaw dandda7ekketa. Geellada yaanishe hintte Xoossaara kaccettana” yaagidi odis. Hessa gisho, shiiqida asay Gamaaliyale zoriya ekkidosona.
But if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them, and you would be found even to be fighting against God."
40 Hawaareta soo xeegidi lisson garaafisis. Hessafe guye, enttako, “Yesuusa sunthaa nam77antho denthofite” gidi birshshi yeddidosona.
They agreed with him. Summoning the apostles, they beat them and commanded them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
41 Yesuusa sunthaa gisho, entti kawuyanayssi bessiyabaa gideyssa erida gisho shangguwa sinthafe ufayttishe keyidosona.
They therefore departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the Name.
42 Entti ubba gallas Xoossa keethan asa son Yesuusi I Kiristtoosa gideyssa tamaarssonne sabbako aggibookona.
Every day, in the temple and at home, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming that Jesus is the Christ.
