1 Na rĩrĩ, matukũ-inĩ marĩa atiirĩrĩri bũrũri maathanaga, nĩ kwagĩire na ngʼaragu bũrũri-inĩ, nake mũndũ ũmwe wa Bethilehemu kũu Juda, marĩ na mũtumia wake, na ariũ ake eerĩ, magĩthiĩ gũikara bũrũri wa Moabi kwa ihinda.
And it was in [the] days of [the] judging of the judges and it was a famine in the land and he went a man from Beth-lehem Judah to sojourn in [the] region of Moab he and wife his and [the] two sons his.
2 Mũndũ ũcio eetagwo Elimeleku, nake mũtumia wake eetagwo Naomi, namo marĩĩtwa ma ariũ acio ake eerĩ nĩ Mahaloni na Kilioni. Nao maarĩ Aefiratha kuuma Bethilehemu kũu Juda. Nao magĩthiĩ bũrũri wa Moabi magĩtũũra kuo.
And [the] name of the man [was] Elimelech and [the] name of wife his [was] Naomi and [the] name of [the] two sons his - [was] Mahlon and Kilion Ephrathites from Beth-lehem Judah and they came [the] region of Moab and they were there.
3 Na rĩrĩ, Elimeleku mũthuuri wa Naomi agĩkua, nake Naomi agĩtigwo na ariũ acio ake eerĩ.
And he died Elimelech [the] husband of Naomi and she was left she and [the] two sons her.
4 Nao makĩhikia andũ-a-nja a Moabi, ũmwe eetagwo Oripa, na ũrĩa ũngĩ Ruthu. Thuutha wa gũtũũra kũu ta ihinda rĩa mĩaka ikũmi,
And they took for themselves wives Moabite [the] name of the one [was] Orpah and [the] name of the second [was] Ruth and they dwelt there about ten years.
5 Mahaloni na Kilioni o nao magĩkua, nake Naomi agĩtigwo atarĩ na ariũ ake eerĩ, o na kana mũthuuri.
And they died also both of them Mahlon and Kilion and she was left the woman from both children her and from husband her.
6 Rĩrĩa Naomi aiguire arĩ kũu Moabi atĩ Jehova nĩateithĩtie andũ ake akamahe irio-rĩ, akĩĩhaarĩria hamwe na atumia acio a ariũ ake oime bũrũri wa Moabi acooke kwao.
And she arose she and daughters-in-law her and she returned from [the] region of Moab if she had heard in [the] region of Moab that he had visited Yahweh people his by giving to them food.

And she went out from the place where she had been there and [the] two daughters-in-law her [were] with her and they went on the way to return to [the] land of Judah.

And she said Naomi to [the] two daughters-in-law her go return [each] woman to [the] house of mother her (may he deal *Q(K)*) Yahweh with you covenant loyalty just as you have dealt with the dead and with me.
9 Jehova arotũma o ũmwe wanyu eyonere ũhurũko mũciĩ wa mũthuuri ũngĩ.” Agĩcooka akĩmamumunya, nao makĩrĩra maanĩrĩire,
May he give Yahweh to you and find rest [each] woman [the] house of husband her and she kissed them and they raised voice their and they wept.
10 makĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Ithuĩ tũgũcooka nawe kũrĩ andũ anyu.”
And they said to her that with you we will return to people your.
11 No Naomi akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Aarĩ akwa, cookai mũciĩ kwanyu. Mũgũgĩthiĩ na niĩ nĩkĩ? Nĩngũkĩgĩa na ariũ angĩ nĩguo macooke matuĩke athuuri anyu?
And she said Naomi go back O daughters my why? will you go with me ¿ still [belong] to me [do] sons in inward parts my and they will become of you husbands.

Go back O daughters my go for I am [too] old for belonging to a husband if I said there for me [is] hope also I belonged this night to a husband and also I bore sons.
13 mwakĩmeterera o nginya hĩndĩ ĩrĩa makaagimara? No mũikare mũtahikĩte mũmetereire? Aca, aarĩ akwa. Niĩ ndĩ na ruo kũmũkĩra, nĩgũkorwo guoko kwa Jehova nĩgũtambũrũkĩte gũkanjũkĩrĩra!”
¿ Therefore - will you wait until that they will grow up ¿ therefore will you shut yourselves off to not to belong to a husband may not [it be] O daughters my for it is bitter to me very more than you that it has gone forth on me [the] hand of Yahweh.

And they raised voice their and they wept again and she kissed Orpah mother-in-law her and Ruth she clung to her.
15 Nake Naomi akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Ta rora, mũtumia wa mũrũ wa nyina na mũthuuriguo nĩahũndũka acooke kũrĩ andũ ao, o na kũrĩ ngai ciake. Cooka mũthiĩ nake.”
And she said there! she has returned sister-in-law your to people her and to gods her go back after sister-in-law your.
16 No Ruthu akĩmũcookeria, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Tiga kũningĩrĩria ngũtige kana ngarũrũke ndige gũkũrũmĩrĩra. Kũrĩa ũgũthiĩ nĩkuo ngũthiĩ, na kũrĩa ũgaatũũra nĩkuo ngaatũũra. Andũ anyu magaatuĩka andũ aitũ, nake Ngai waku atuĩke Ngai wakwa.
And she said Ruth may not you entreat me to abandon you to turn back from after you for to where you will go I will go and at where you will lodge I will lodge people your [will be] people my and God your [will be] God my.
17 Kũrĩa ũgaakuĩra nĩkuo ngaakuĩra, na nokuo ngaathikwo. Jehova aronjĩka ũũru makĩria, kũngĩkaagĩa ũndũ o na ũmwe ũgaatũtigithania niĩ nawe, tiga o gĩkuũ giiki!”
At where you will die I will die and there I will be buried thus may he do Yahweh to me and thus may he add if death it will separate between me and between you.
18 Rĩrĩa Naomi onire atĩ Ruthu nĩatuĩte itua rĩa gũthiĩ nake, agĩtiga kũmũringĩrĩria acooke.
And she saw that [was] determined she to go with her and she ceased to speak to her.
19 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio andũ acio a nja eerĩ magĩthiĩ nginya magĩkinya Bethilehemu. Rĩrĩa maakinyire Bethilehemu-rĩ, andũ a itũũra rĩu othe makĩgega nĩ ũndũ wao, nao andũ-a-nja makĩũrania atĩrĩ, “Hĩ! Ũyũ no akorwo arĩ Naomi?”
And they went [the] two of them until came they Beth-lehem and it was when came they Beth-lehem and it was excited all the city on them and they [fem] said ¿ [is] this Naomi.
20 Nake akĩmeera atĩrĩ, “Tigai gũcooka kũnjĩta Naomi, njĩtagaai Mara, nĩ ũndũ Ngai Mwene-Hinya-Wothe nĩatũmĩte mũtũũrĩre wakwa ũtuĩke wa ruo mũno.
And she said to them may not you call me Naomi call me Mara for he has caused bitterness [the] Almighty to me exceedingly.
21 Ndoimire gũkũ njiyũrĩrĩire, no Jehova anjookia itarĩ kĩndũ. Mũngĩcooka kũnjĩta Naomi nĩkĩ? Jehova nĩanyariirĩte; Mwene-Hinya-Wothe nĩandehithĩirie mathĩĩna.”
I full I went and empty he has brought back me Yahweh why? do you call me Naomi and Yahweh he has testified against me and [the] Almighty he has done harm to me.
22 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Naomi agĩcooka kuuma Moabi marĩ hamwe na Ruthu ũcio Mũmoabi, mũtumia wa mũriũ, magĩkinya Bethilehemu hĩndĩ ĩrĩa cairi yaambagĩrĩria kũgethwo.
And she returned Naomi and Ruth the Moabite [woman] daughter-in-law her [was] with her who returned from [the] region of Moab and they they came Beth-lehem at [the] beginning of [the] harvest of barley.
