1 Hakĩrĩ ũguo-rĩ, tũkiuge atĩa? Nĩ tũtũũre o twĩhagia nĩgeetha wega wa Ngai ũingĩhage?
What then shall we say? Shall we continue in sin so that grace may increase?
2 Hĩ! Kũroaga gũtuĩka ũguo! Ithuĩ-rĩ, nĩtwakuire ũhoro-inĩ wa wĩhia; twakĩhota atĩa gũcooka gũtũũra thĩinĩ waguo?
Certainly not! How can we who died to sin live in it any longer?
3 Kaĩ inyuĩ mũtooĩ atĩ ithuĩ othe arĩa twabatithirio thĩinĩ wa Kristũ Jesũ twabatithirio thĩinĩ wa gĩkuũ gĩake?
Or aren’t you aware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?
4 Nĩ ũndũ ũcio-rĩ, twabatithio nĩgũthikwo twathikirwo hamwe nake gĩkuũ-inĩ gĩake, nĩgeetha o ta ũrĩa Kristũ aariũkirio kuuma kũrĩ arĩa akuũ nĩ hinya wa riiri wa Ithe, o na ithuĩ tũtũũre na mũtũũrĩre mwerũ.
We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may walk in newness of life.
5 Angĩkorwo nĩtũnyiitithanĩtio nake ũguo thĩinĩ wa gĩkuũ gĩake-rĩ, hatirĩ nganja nĩtũkanyiitithanio nake thĩinĩ wa kũriũka gwake.
For if we have been united with Him like this in His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in His resurrection.
6 Nĩgũkorwo nĩtũũĩ atĩ mũndũ witũ wa tene nĩambirwo hamwe nake nĩgeetha mwĩrĩ ũyũ wa mehia weherio, nĩguo tũtikanacooke gũtuĩka ngombo cia mehia,
We know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body of sin might be rendered powerless, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.
7 tondũ mũndũ o wothe ũrĩa ũrĩkĩtie gũkua nĩatigithanĩtio na mehia.
For anyone who has died has been freed from sin.
8 Na rĩrĩ, angĩkorwo nĩtwakuire hamwe na Kristũ-rĩ, nĩtwĩtĩkĩtie atĩ nĩtũgatũũra muoyo hamwe nake.
Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with Him.
9 Nĩgũkorwo nĩtũũĩ atĩ tondũ Kristũ nĩariũkirio akiuma kũrĩ arĩa akuũ-rĩ, ndarĩ hĩndĩ agaacooka gũkua; gĩkuũ gĩtirĩ na hinya wa kũmwatha rĩngĩ.
For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, He cannot die again; death no longer has dominion over Him.
10 Gĩkuũ kĩrĩa aakuire, aakuĩrĩire ũhoro wa mehia o riita rĩmwe rĩa kũigana; no muoyo ũrĩa atũũraga-rĩ, atũũraga nĩ ũndũ wa riiri wa Ngai.
The death He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life He lives, He lives to God.
So you too must count yourselves dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
12 Tondũ ũcio, mũtikanareke mehia mathamakage thĩinĩ wa mĩĩrĩ yanyu ĩyo ĩkuaga, atĩ nĩguo mwathĩkagĩre merirĩria mooru mayo.
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its desires.
13 Ningĩ mũtikananeane ciĩga cia mĩĩrĩ yanyu mehia-inĩ, atĩ nĩguo ituĩke ta indo cia kũhũthĩrwo cia kwagana nacio, no nĩ kaba mwĩheanage kũrĩ Ngai, mũhaana ta andũ marutĩtwo gĩkuũ-inĩ makarehwo muoyo-inĩ na mũneanage ciĩga icio cia mĩĩrĩ yanyu kũrĩ we nĩguo ituĩke ta indo cia kũhũthĩrwo na gwĩka maũndũ ma ũthingu.
Do not present the parts of your body to sin as instruments of wickedness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and present the parts of your body to Him as instruments of righteousness.
14 Mũtigatuĩke a gwathagwo nĩ mehia, tondũ inyuĩ mũtirĩ agũthamakagĩrwo nĩ watho, no mũrĩ agũthamakagĩrwo nĩ wega wa Ngai.
For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.
15 Tũkiuge atĩa? Kuona atĩ tũtirĩ rungu rwa watho no tũrĩ rungu rwa wega wa Ngai-rĩ, nĩtũtũũre twĩhagia? Kũroaga gũtuĩka ũguo!
What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law, but under grace? Certainly not!
16 Kaĩ inyuĩ mũtooĩ atĩ rĩrĩa mweheana kũrĩ mũndũ nĩguo mũtuĩke ngombo mũmwathĩkagĩre-rĩ, inyuĩ mũkĩrĩ o ngombo cia ũcio mwathĩkagĩra: mũrĩ ngombo cia mehia marĩa merekagĩria mũndũ gĩkuũ-inĩ, kana mũrĩ ngombo cia wathĩki ũrĩa ũrehaga ũthingu?
Do you not know that when you offer yourselves as obedient slaves, you are slaves to the one you obey, whether you are slaves to sin leading to death, or to obedience leading to righteousness?
17 No Ngai arocookerio ngaatho, tondũ o na gũtuĩka inyuĩ mwarĩ ngombo cia mehia-rĩ, rĩu nĩmwathĩkĩire na ngoro yothe ũrutani ũrĩa mwehokeirwo.
But thanks be to God that, though you once were slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were committed.
18 Inyuĩ nĩmũrĩkĩtie kuohorwo mũkoima mehia-inĩ, mũgacooka gũtuĩka ngombo cia ũthingu.
You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.
19 Ndĩraaria ũhoro ũyũ ngĩũgerekanagia na maũndũ ma andũ tondũ inyuĩ nĩmwagĩte hinya mũtũũrĩre-inĩ wanyu wa ndũire. O ta ũrĩa mwatũire mũneanaga ciĩga cianyu cia mĩĩrĩ ituĩke ngombo kũrĩ maũndũ marĩa matarĩ ma ũtheru o na ma waganu ũrĩa ũtũire wongererekaga-rĩ, rĩu kĩneanei ciĩga cianyu ituĩke ngombo cia ũthingu nĩguo mũgaatuĩka andũ atheru.
I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to escalating wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness.
20 Rĩrĩa mwarĩ ngombo cia mehia-rĩ, mũtiathagwo nĩ ũthingu.
For when you were slaves to sin, you were free of obligation to righteousness.
21 Hĩndĩ ĩyo muonaga uumithio ũrĩkũ kuuma kũrĩ maũndũ marĩa matũmaga rĩu mũconoke? Maũndũ macio marigĩrĩrio-inĩ marehaga gĩkuũ!
What fruit did you reap at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? The outcome of those things is death.
But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the fruit you reap leads to holiness, and the outcome is eternal life.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (aiōnios g166)
