< Aroma 3 >
1 Gwatuĩka ũguo-rĩ, Mũyahudi agĩkĩrĩte andũ arĩa angĩ na kĩ? Kana bata wa kũrua ũkĩrĩ ũrĩkũ?
What advantage then hath the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision?
Much every way. First indeed, because the words of God were committed to them.
3 Ĩ kũngĩkorwo amwe ao nĩmagire kwĩhokeka, kwaga kwĩhokeka kwao, nĩkũngĩatũmire Ngai aage gũtuĩka mwĩhokeku?
For what if some of them have not believed? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? God forbid.
But God is true; and every man a liar, as it is written, That thou mayest be justified in thy words, and mayest overcome when thou art judged.
5 No rĩrĩ, angĩkorwo wagi witũ wa ũthingu nĩũtũmaga ũthingu wa Ngai ũguũrio mũno makĩria-rĩ, tũkiuge atĩa? No tuuge atĩ Ngai ti wa kĩhooto rĩrĩa egũtũkinyĩria mangʼũrĩ make? (Ndĩraaria o ta ũrĩa mũndũ wa gũkũ thĩ angĩaria.)
But if our injustice commend the justice of God, what shall we say? Is God unjust, who executeth wrath?
6 Aca, kũroaga gũtuĩka ũguo! Angĩkorwo ũguo nĩguo kũrĩ-rĩ, Ngai angĩgĩtuĩra thĩ ciira atĩa?
(I speak according to man.) God forbid: otherwise how shall God judge this world?
7 No mũndũ ahota kuuga atĩrĩ, “Angĩkorwo kũheenania gwakwa no kũingĩhie ũhoro-wa-ma wa Ngai, na nĩ ũndũ ũcio gũtũme riiri wake wongerereke-rĩ, niĩ ngĩtuagĩrwo ciira ta ndĩ mwĩhia nĩkĩ?”
For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie, unto his glory, why am I also yet judged as a sinner?
8 Nĩ kĩĩ kĩgiragia tuuge, ta ũrĩa tũcambagio atĩ nĩguo tuugaga, o na ta ũrĩa andũ amwe moigaga atĩ nĩguo tuugaga, “Nĩtũtũũre twĩkaga ũũru nĩguo wega woneke”? Acio-rĩ, gũtuĩrwo ciira kwao nĩ gwa kĩhooto.
And not rather (as we are slandered, and as some affirm that we say) let us do evil, that there may come good? whose damnation is just.
9 Tũkiuge atĩa? Ithuĩ Ayahudi tũkĩrĩ ega gũkĩra andũ arĩa angĩ? Aca, tiguo! Nĩtũrĩkĩtie kuonania hau mbere atĩ Ayahudi o hamwe na andũ-a-Ndũrĩrĩ othe nĩmagwĩte hinya-inĩ wa mehia.
What then? Do we excel them? No, not so. For we have charged both Jews, and Greeks, that they are all under sin.
10 O ta ũrĩa kwandĩkĩtwo atĩrĩ: “Gũtirĩ mũndũ mũthingu, gũtirĩ o na ũmwe;
As it is written: There is not any man just.
11 gũtirĩ mũndũ ũmenyaga ũndũ, gũtirĩ mũndũ ũrongoragia Ngai.
There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 Othe nĩmagarũrũkĩte, makoora, othe hamwe magatuĩka kĩndũ gĩtarĩ bata; gũtirĩ mũndũ wĩkaga wega, gũtirĩ o na ũmwe.”
All have turned out of the way; they are become unprofitable together: there is none that doth good, there is not so much as one.
13 “Mĩmero yao ĩhaana ta mbĩrĩra hingũre; nĩmĩ ciao ciaragia o maheeni.” “Mĩromo yao yaragia maũndũ marũrũ ta thumu wa nduĩra.”
Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have dealt deceitfully. The venom of asps is under their lips.
14 “Tũnua twao tũiyũrĩte irumi na ũrũrũ.”
Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
15 “Mahanyũkaga na magũrũ magaite thakame;
Their feet swift to shed blood:
16 mwanangĩko na kĩeha nĩcio cionanagia kũrĩa magereire,
Destruction and misery in their ways:
17 nayo njĩra ya thayũ matimĩũĩ.”
And the way of peace they have not known:
18 “Hatirĩ wĩtigĩri Ngai maitho-inĩ mao.”
There is no fear of God before their eyes.
19 Na rĩu-rĩ, nĩtũũĩ atĩ maũndũ marĩa mothe watho uugĩte, merĩtwo andũ arĩa marĩ rungu rwa watho, nĩgeetha kanua o gothe gakirio, nao andũ a thĩ othe matuĩke a gũciirithio nĩ Ngai.
Now we know, that what things soever the law speaketh, it speaketh to them that are in the law; that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may be made subject to God.
20 Tondũ wa ũguo-rĩ, gũtirĩ mũndũ o na ũ ũngĩtuuo mũthingu maitho-inĩ ma Ngai nĩ ũndũ wa kũrũmia watho; no rĩrĩ, watho nĩguo ũtũmaga andũ mamenye atĩ nĩmehĩtie.
Because by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified before him. For by the law is the knowledge of sin.
But now without the law the justice of God is made manifest, being witnessed by the law and the prophets.
Even the justice of God, by faith of Jesus Christ, unto all and upon all them that believe in him: for there is no distinction:
23 nĩgũkorwo andũ othe nĩmehĩtie na makanyiihĩrwo nĩ riiri wa Ngai,
For all have sinned, and do need the glory of God.
Being justified freely by his grace, through the redemption, that is in Christ Jesus,
Whom God hath proposed to be a propitiation, through faith in his blood, to the shewing of his justice, for the remission of former sins,
26 nake eekire ũguo nĩgeetha onanie ũthingu wake mahinda-inĩ maya, na kũmenyeke atĩ we nĩ mũthingu, na nĩwe ũtuaga andũ arĩa metĩkĩtie Jesũ athingu.
Through the forbearance of God, for the shewing of his justice in this time; that he himself may be just, and the justifier of him, who is of the faith of Jesus Christ.
27 Gwagĩtuĩka ũguo-rĩ, kwĩraha gũkĩrĩ ha? Nĩ kweherie biũ. Kweheretio nĩ ũndũ wa gĩtũmi kĩrĩkũ? Hihi nĩ ũndũ wa kũrũmia watho? Aca, no nĩ ũndũ wa watho ũrĩa wa wĩtĩkio.
Where is then thy boasting? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith.
For we account a man to be justified by faith, without the works of the law.
29 Ngai-rĩ, akĩrĩ o Ngai wa Ayahudi oiki? Githĩ Ngai ti wa andũ-a-Ndũrĩrĩ o nao? Ĩĩ, nĩ Ngai wa andũ-a-Ndũrĩrĩ o nao,
Is he the God of the Jews only? Is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also.
For it is one God, that justifieth circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
31 Rĩu-rĩ, no twagithie ũhoro wa watho kĩene nĩ ũndũ wa ũhoro wa wĩtĩkio ũcio? Aca, kũroaga gũtuĩka ũguo! Handũ ha ũguo-rĩ, nĩ watho tũgũkĩongerera hinya.
Do we, then, destroy the law through faith? God forbid: but we establish the law.
