An Instructive Psalm, by Ethan the Ezrahite. The lovingkindnesses of Yahweh, age-abidingly will I sing, To generation after generation, will I make known thy faithfulness with my mouth.
2 Nĩngumbũra atĩ wendo waku ũtũũraga ũrĩ mũrũmu nginya tene, nyumbũre atĩ wĩhokeku waku nĩũũhaandĩte o kũu igũrũ.
For I said, To times age-abiding, shall lovingkindness be built up, As for the heavens, thou wilt establish thy faithfulness therein.
3 Woigire atĩrĩ, “Nĩngĩte kĩrĩkanĩro na ũrĩa niĩ ndĩthuurĩire, na ngeehĩta na mwĩhĩtwa harĩ Daudi ndungata yakwa ngamwĩra atĩrĩ,
I have solemnised a covenant, for my chosen one, I have sworn unto David my servant:
4 ‘Nĩngatũma rũciaro rwaku rũtũũre rwĩhaandĩte nginya tene, na ndũme gĩtĩ gĩaku kĩa ũnene gĩtũũre kĩrĩ kĩrũmu njiarwa na njiarwa.’”
Unto times age-abiding, will I establish thy seed, And will build up, unto generation after generation, thy throne. (Selah)
5 Wee Jehova-rĩ, igũrũ nĩrĩkumagia magegania maku, na rĩkagaathĩrĩria wĩhokeku waku o naguo, kĩũngano-inĩ kĩa acio atheru.
So shall the heavens praise thy wondrousness, O Yahweh, —Yea, thy faithfulness, in the convocation of holy ones.
6 Nĩ ũndũ-rĩ, kũu matu-inĩ igũrũ nũũ ũngĩgerekanio na Jehova? Nũũ ũkĩhaana ta Jehova harĩ ciũmbe iria irĩ igũrũ?
For whom, in the skies, can one compare unto Yahweh? [Or] can one liken unto Yahweh, among the sons of the mighty?
7 Kĩama-inĩ kĩa acio atheru, Mũrungu nĩetigĩrĩtwo mũno; nĩ wa gwĩtigĩrwo gũkĩra arĩa othe mamũrigiicĩirie.
A GOD inspiring awe in the circle of the holy ones, exceedingly, And to be reverenced above all who are round about him.
8 Wee Jehova Ngai Mwene-Hinya-Wothe, nũũ ũkĩhaana tawe? Wee Jehova, nĩ ũrĩ hinya, na wĩhokeku waku ũtũũraga ũkũrigiicĩirie.
O Yahweh, God of hosts! Who, like thee, is mighty, O Yah! With thy faithfulness round about thee:
9 Nĩwe wathaga kĩhuhũkanio kĩa iria rĩrĩa inene; rĩrĩa makũmbĩ marĩo mookĩra na igũrũ, nĩũmahooreragia.
Thou, rulest over the swelling of the sea, When the rolling waves thereof lift themselves, Thou, dost bid them be still:
10 Wahehenjire Rahabu agĩtuĩka o ta ũmwe wa arĩa moragĩtwo; wahurunjire thũ ciaku na guoko gwaku kũrĩ hinya.
Thou, hast crushed—as one slain—Rahab, With thy strong arm, hast thou scattered thy foes.
11 Igũrũ nĩ rĩaku, o na thĩ no yaku; Wee nĩwe wombire thĩ na kĩrĩa gĩothe kĩrĩ thĩinĩ wayo.
Thine, are the heavens, Yea, thine, the earth, The world and the fulness thereof, Thou, didst found them;
The north and the south, Thou, didst create them, —Tabor and Hermon, with thy Name, shall shout for joy:
13 Gĩcoka gĩaku nĩ kĩrĩ ũhoti; guoko gwaku kũrĩ hinya, guoko gwaku kwa ũrĩo nĩgũtũgĩrie.
Thine is an arm with might, Strong is thy hand, High is thy right hand;
Righteousness and justice, are the establishing of thy throne, Lovingkindness and faithfulness, go before thy face.
15 Kũrathimwo-rĩ, nĩ andũ arĩa mooĩ gũkũgooca na nyĩmbo, o arĩa mathiiaga na ũtheri waku, Wee Jehova.
How happy are the people who know the joyful sound! O Yahweh! in the light of thy countenance, shall they firmly march along;
16 Makenagĩra rĩĩtwa rĩaku mũthenya wothe; magũtũũgagĩria nĩ ũndũ wa ũthingu waku.
In thy Name, shall they exult all the day, And, in thy righteousness, shall they be exalted.
For, the beauty of their strength, thou art, And, in thine acceptance, shall our horns be exalted.
18 Ti-itherũ, ngo iitũ ĩrĩ na Jehova, mũthamaki witũ nĩ wa Ũrĩa-Mũtheru-wa-Isiraeli.
For, to Yahweh, belongeth our Shield, And, to the Holy One of Israel, belongeth our King.
19 Hĩndĩ ĩmwe nĩwaririe na njĩra ya kĩoneki, ũkĩĩra andũ aku arĩa ehokeku atĩrĩ, “Nĩheete njamba ĩmwe ya ita hinya; nĩndũgĩrĩtie mwanake gatagatĩ ka andũ.
Then spakest thou in vision of thy men of lovingkindness, and saidst—I have laid help upon a mighty one, I have exalted one chosen from among the people;
20 Nĩndĩĩoneire Daudi ndungata yakwa; nĩndĩmũitĩrĩirie maguta makwa maamũre.
I have found David my servant, With mine own holy oil, have I anointed him;
21 Guoko gwakwa nĩkũrĩmũtiiragĩrĩra; ti-itherũ gĩcoka gĩakwa nĩkĩrĩmwĩkagĩra hinya.
With whom my hand shall be firm, Yea, mine arm, shall strengthen him;
22 Gũtirĩ thũ ĩkaamwĩtia igooti. gũtirĩ mũndũ mwaganu ũkaamũhinyĩrĩria.
No foe shall make exactions on him, Nor shall, a son of perversity, humiliate him;
And I will shatter, from before him, his adversaries, And, them who hate him, will I smite;
And, my faithfulness and my lovingkindness, shall be with him, And, in my Name, exalted shall be his horn;
25 Nĩngatambũrũkia guoko gwake igũrũ rĩa iria, na guoko gwake kwa ũrĩo ndĩkũige igũrũ rĩa njũũĩ.
And I will set, in the sea, his hand, And, in the rivers, his right hand;
26 Nĩakanjĩta anjĩĩre atĩrĩ, ‘Wee nĩwe Baba, na Mũrungu wakwa, o Rwaro rwa Ihiga, Mũhonokia wakwa.’
He, shall cry out unto me, My Father, thou art, My GOD, and my Rock of Salvation!
27 Ningĩ nĩngamwamũra atuĩke irigithathi rĩakwa, na ndũme atũũgĩrio gũkĩra athamaki a thĩ.
Yea, I, will appoint him, firstborn, Most High to the kings of the earth!
28 Nĩngũtũũria wendo wakwa harĩ we nginya tene, na kĩrĩkanĩro gĩakwa nake gĩtũũre kĩrĩ gĩa kwĩhokeka.
Age-abidingly, will I keep for him my lovingkindness, And, my covenant, hath been made steadfast for him;
29 Nĩngahaanda rũciaro rwake nginya tene, na gĩtĩ gĩake kĩa ũnene ndĩkĩhaande rĩrĩa rĩothe igũrũ rĩgũtũũra.
Therefore will I appoint, to futurity, his seed, And his throne as the days of the heavens.
30 “Ariũ ake mangĩgatirika watho wakwa na mage kũrũmĩrĩra kĩrĩra gĩakwa,
If his sons forsake my law, And, in my regulations, do not walk;
If, my statutes, they profane, And, my commandments, do not keep:
32 nĩngaherithia wĩhia wao na rũthanju, herithie waganu wao na kũmahũũra iboko;
Then will I punish, with a rod, their transgression; And, with stripes, their iniquity:
33 no ndirĩ hĩndĩ ngaamwehereria wendo wakwa, o na kana thaahie wĩhokeku wakwa o na rĩ.
But, my lovingkindness, will I not frustrate from them, Neither will I falsify my faithfulness;
34 Ndigathũkia kĩrĩkanĩro gĩakwa kana ngarũrĩre ũrĩa iromo ciakwa ciarĩtie.
I will not violate my covenant, And that which hath proceeded out of my lips, will I not alter:
35 Nĩndĩhĩtĩte ngĩgwetaga ũtheru wakwa, rĩmwe rĩa kũigana, na ndirĩ hĩndĩ ngaaheenia Daudi,
One thing, have I sworn by my holiness, Verily, to David, will I not lie;
36 atĩ rũciaro rwake rũgũtũũra nginya tene, na gĩtĩ gĩake kĩa ũnene gĩtũũre kĩrĩ kĩrũmu mbere yakwa ta riũa;
His seed, age-abidingly, shall remain, And, his throne, be like the sun before me;
37 gĩgũtũũra kĩrĩ kĩrũmu nginya tene o ta mweri, mũira ũrĩa ũrĩ matu-inĩ nĩ mwĩhokeku.”
Like the moon, shall it be established unto times age-abiding, And, a witness, in the skies, hath been made sure. (Selah)
38 No rĩrĩ, wee nĩũregete, na ũgatiganĩria, o na ũgakĩrakarĩra ũcio ũitĩrĩirie maguta.
Yet, thou thyself, hast cast off, and rejected, Thou hast been wroth with thine Anointed One!
Thou hast cast down the covenant of thy Servant, Thou hast profaned, to the earth, his crown;
40 Wee ũmomorete thingo ciake ciothe na ũkaananga ciĩhitho ciake iria cia hinya.
Thou hast broken down all his defenses, Thou hast laid his fortresses in ruins;
41 Ehĩtũkĩri othe nĩmatahĩte indo ciake; atuĩkĩte wa kũnyararwo nĩ andũ arĩa mariganĩtie nake.
All the passers by the way, have plundered him, He hath become a reproach to his neighbours;
42 Wee nĩũtũũgĩrĩtie guoko kwa ũrĩo kwa arĩa mamũthũire; nĩũtũmĩte thũ ciake ciothe ikene.
Thou hast raised the right hand of his adversaries, Thou hast gladdened all his enemies;
Yea thou hast turned the edge of his sword, Neither hast thou caused him to stand in the battle;
44 Nĩũniinĩte riiri wake ũgathira, na ũgaikania gĩtĩ gĩake kĩa ũnene thĩ.
Thou hast brought to an end his splendour, And, his throne—to the ground, hast thou hurled;
45 Nĩũnyiihĩtie matukũ ma wĩthĩ wake; ũmũhumbĩte thoni o ta nguo.
Thou hast shortened the days of his youths, —Thou hast covered him with shame. (Selah)
46 Nĩ nginya rĩ, Wee Jehova? Ũgũtũũra wĩhithĩte nginya tene? Nĩ nginya rĩ mangʼũrĩ maku megũtũũra maakanĩte ta mwaki?
How long, O Yahweh, Wilt thou hide thyself utterly? Shall thine indignation, burn like fire?
47 Ririkana ũrĩa mũtũũrĩre wakwa ũrĩ wa gũthira o narua. Kaĩ akĩrĩ ũndũ wa tũhũ watũmire ũmbe andũ othe!
Remember how short-lived, I, am, Wherefore, in vain, hast thou created all the sons of Adam?
(Sheol h7585)
Who is the man that shall live, and not see death? That can deliver his soul from the hand of hades. (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
Where are thy former lovingkindnesses, O My Lord? Thou didst swear unto David, in thy faithfulness!
50 Mwathani, ririkana ũrĩa ndungata yaku ĩnyũrũrĩtio, na ũrĩa nyũmĩrĩirie irumi iria numĩtwo nĩ ndũrĩrĩ ciothe ngoro-inĩ yakwa,
Remember, O My Lord, the reproach of thy servants, I have carried in my bosom the insult of the peoples:
51 o irumi iria thũ ciaku iinyũrũrĩtie nacio, Wee Jehova, iria itũire inyũrũrĩtie makinya ma ũrĩa wee ũitĩrĩirie maguta nacio.
In that thy foes have reproached, O Yahweh, In that they have reproached the footsteps of thine Anointed One!
52 Jehova arogoocwo nginya tene!
Blessed be Yahweh to times age-abiding, Amen, and Amen!
