1 Thaburi ya Daudi Wee Jehova, o Wee Mwathani witũ, kaĩ rĩĩtwa rĩaku nĩ inene gũkũ thĩ yothe-ĩ! Nĩũigĩte riiri waku o igũrũ matu-inĩ.

To the Chief Musician. On "the Gittith." A Melody of David. O Yahweh, our Lord! How majestic is thy Name, in all the earth, Who hast set thy splendour upon the heavens.

2 Nĩũtũmĩte rũgooco ruume tũnua-inĩ twa ciana na twa ngenge, nĩ tondũ wa thũ ciaku, nĩguo ũkirie ũrĩa ũrĩ muku nawe o na mwĩrĩhĩria.

Out of the mouth of children and sucklings, hast thou laid a foundation of strength, —because of thine adversaries, to make foe and avenger be still.

3 Rĩrĩa ndecũũrania ũhoro ũkoniĩ igũrũ rĩu rĩaku, ngoona wĩra wa ciara ciaku, mweri na njata icio wĩkĩrĩte kuo-rĩ,

When I view thy heavens, the work, of thy fingers, moon and stars, which thou hast established,

4 mũndũ akĩrĩ kĩ tondũ ũikaraga ũkĩmwĩciiragia, nake mũrũ wa mũndũ akĩrĩ kĩ atĩ nĩkĩo ũmũmenyagĩrĩra?

What was weak man, that thou shouldst make mention of him? or the son of the earthborn, that thou shouldst set him in charge?

5 Watũmire atigie o hanini aiganane nawe, na ũkĩmũhumba thũmbĩ ya riiri o na gĩtĩĩo.

That thou shouldst make him little less than messengers of God, with glory and honour, shouldst crown him?

6 Wamũtuire wa gwathaga mawĩra ma moko maku; ũkĩiga indo ciothe rungu rwa makinya make:

Shouldst give him dominion over the works of thy hands, —All things, shouldst have put under his feet:

7 ndũũru ciothe cia mbũri na cia ngʼombe, na nyamũ cia gĩthaka,

Sheep and oxen, all of them, —yea even the beasts of the field;

8 na nyoni cia rĩera-inĩ, na thamaki cia iria-inĩ, na kĩrĩa gĩothe kĩgeragĩra kũu iria-inĩ thĩinĩ.

The bird of the heavens, and the fishes of the sea, — the passer-by on the paths of the seas?

9 Wee Jehova, o Wee Mwathani witũ, kaĩ rĩĩtwa rĩaku nĩ inene gũkũ thĩ yothe-ĩ!

O Yahweh, our Lord! How majestic is thy Name, in all the earth.
