< Thaburi 76 >

1 Thaburi ya Asafu Kũu Juda Ngai nĩoĩkaine; rĩĩtwa rĩake nĩ inene thĩinĩ wa Isiraeli.
For the end, among the Hymns, a Psalm for Asaph; a Song for the Assyrian. God is known in Judea: his name is great in Israel.
2 Hema yake ĩrĩ kũu Salemu, gĩikaro gĩake kĩrĩ Zayuni.
And his place has been in peace, and his dwelling-place in Sion.
3 Kũu nĩkuo oinangĩire mĩguĩ ya ũta ĩkũhenia, akiunanga ngo na hiũ ciao cia njora, o na indo ciao ciothe cia mbaara.
There he broke the power of the bows, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. (Pause)
4 Wee ũcangararĩte nĩ ũtheri, ũkagĩa na ũkaru gũkĩra irĩma irĩ na ũtonga wa nyamũ cia iguĩma.
Thou dost wonderfully shine forth from the everlasting mountains.
5 Andũ arĩa njamba magwĩte magatunywo indo, magakoma toro wao wa gĩkuũ; gũtirĩ o na ũmwe wa njamba cia ita ũngĩambararia moko make.
All the simple ones in heart were troubled; all the men of wealth have slept their sleep, and have found nothing in their hands.
6 Nĩ ũndũ wa ikũũma rĩaku, Wee Ngai wa Jakubu, mbarathi o ũndũ ũmwe na ngaari cia ita igwĩte thĩ ikaaga kwĩigua.
At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, the riders on horses slumbered.
7 Wee nowe wa gwĩtigĩrwo. Nũũ ũngĩrũgama mbere yaku rĩrĩa ũrĩ mũrakaru?
Thou art terrible; and who shall withstand thee, because of thine anger?
8 Wamenyithanirie itua rĩaku ũrĩ o kũu igũrũ, nayo thĩ ĩgĩĩtigĩra na ĩgĩkira ki,
Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,
9 rĩrĩa Wee Ngai, warũgamire ũtuanĩre ciira, nĩguo ũhonokie arĩa othe anyamaarĩku a bũrũri.
when God arose to judgment, to save all the meek in heart. (Pause)
10 Ti-itherũ mangʼũrĩ ma andũ nĩmagakũgoocithia, na ũkeyoha matigari ma mangʼũrĩ maku ta mũcibi.
For the inward thought of man shall give thanks to thee: and the memorial of his inward thought shall keep a feast to thee.
11 Mwĩhĩtei mĩĩhĩtwa harĩ Jehova Ngai wanyu na mũmĩhingie; rekei mabũrũri marĩa mothe mũriganĩtie namo marehere ũcio wa gwĩtigĩrwo iheo.
Vow, and pay [your vows] to the Lord our God; all that are round about him shall bring gifts, [even] to him that is terrible,
12 Athuthaga roho wa arĩa maathanaga; etigagĩrwo nĩ athamaki a thĩ.
and that takes away the spirits of princes; to him that is terrible among the kings of the earth.
