< Thaburi 61 >

1 Thaburi ya Daudi Wee Ngai, igua kĩrĩro gĩakwa; thikĩrĩria ihooya rĩakwa.
“To the chief musician upon Neginah, by David.” Hear, O God, my entreaty; listen to my prayer.
2 Ndĩragũkaĩra kuuma ituri cia thĩ, ndĩragũkaĩra o ngoro yakwa ĩgĩthiragwo nĩ hinya; ndongoria nginye rwaro-inĩ rwa ihiga rũrĩa rũraihu na igũrũ kũngĩra.
From the end of the earth will I call unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is too high for me.
3 Nĩgũkorwo nĩwe ũkoretwo ũrĩ rĩũrĩro rĩakwa, mũthiringo mũraihu na igũrũ wa hinya wa kwĩhitha kuuma kũrĩ thũ.
For thou hast been a shelter unto me, a strong tower against the enemy.
4 Ndĩĩriragĩria gũtũũra hema-inĩ yaku nginya tene, na ndĩĩhithage kĩĩruru-inĩ kĩa mathagu maku.
Let me sojourn in thy tent to all eternity; let me be sheltered under the covert of thy wings. (Selah)
5 Nĩgũkorwo Wee Ngai nĩũiguĩte mĩĩhĩtwa yakwa, nĩũngaĩire igai rĩa andũ arĩa metigĩrĩte rĩĩtwa rĩaku.
For thou, O God, hast truly listened to my vows: thou hast given back the heritage of those that fear thy name.
6 Ongerera matukũ ma mũthamaki ma gũtũũra muoyo, mĩaka yake ĩigane ta ya njiarwa nyingĩ.
Oh, add days unto the king's days: may his years be as of many generations.
7 Aroikarĩra gĩtĩ kĩa ũnene arĩ mbere ya Ngai nginya tene; tũma wendo na wĩhokeku waku imũgitagĩre.
May he abide for ever before God: ordain that kindness and truth may guard him.
8 Hĩndĩ ĩyo ngatũũra nyinaga rwĩmbo rwa kũgooca rĩĩtwa rĩaku, na hingagie mĩĩhĩtwa yakwa mũthenya o mũthenya.
So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may pay my vows day by day.
