< Thaburi 58 >

1 Thaburi ya Daudi Inyuĩ aathani aya-rĩ, ti-itherũ nĩmwaragia maũndũ ma kĩhooto? Nĩmũtuagĩra andũ ciira ũrĩa kwagĩrĩire na kĩhooto?
TO THE OVERSEER. “DO NOT DESTROY.” A MIKTAM OF DAVID. Is it true, O silent one, that you speak righteously? Do you judge uprightly, O sons of men?
2 Aca, ngoro-inĩ cianyu mũthugundaga maũndũ matarĩ ma kĩhooto, na moko manyu mageeka maũndũ ma kũruta haaro gũkũ thĩ.
Even in heart you work iniquities, In the land you ponder the violence of your hands.
3 O kuuma gũciarwo andũ arĩa aaganu nĩmahĩtagia njĩra; matũũraga marĩ imaramari kuuma gũciarwo, na maaragia maheeni.
The wicked have been estranged from the womb, They have erred from the belly, speaking lies.
4 Ũrũrũ wao nĩ ta ũrũrũ wa nyoka, ũhaana ta thumu wa nduĩra ĩthingĩte matũ mayo,
Their poison [is] as poison of a serpent, As a deaf cobra shutting its ear,
5 ĩrĩa ĩtangĩigua rwĩmbo rwa mũmĩthuuthĩri, o na angĩkorwo aramĩthuuthĩra arĩ na ũũgĩ mũnene atĩa.
Which does not listen to the voice of whisperers, A charmer of most skillful charms.
6 Wee Ngai, unanga magego marĩa marĩ tũnua twao; Wee Jehova, munya mĩthangiri ya mĩrũũthi ĩyo!
O God, break their teeth in their mouth, Break down the jaw-teeth of young lions, O YHWH.
7 Nĩmabuĩrie o ta maaĩ marĩa mathereraga makabuĩria; rĩrĩa magereka ũta-rĩ, mĩguĩ yao nĩĩkoragwo ĩrĩ mĩtuuhu.
They are melted as waters, They go up and down for themselves, His arrow proceeds as they cut themselves off.
8 Marotuĩka ta ndinoho ĩrĩa ĩtwekaga o ĩgĩthiiaga, matuĩke ta kĩhuno kĩrĩa gĩtoonaga riũa.
He goes on as a snail that melts, [As] an untimely birth of a woman, They have not seen the sun.
9 Andũ arĩa aaganu makeeherio narua, gũkĩra ũrĩa nyũngũ cianyu ingĩhiũhio nĩ mwaki wa mĩigua, ĩrĩ mĩigũ kana ĩrĩ mĩũmũ.
Before your pots discern the bramble, As living, He whirls away in His burning anger.
10 Andũ arĩa athingu nĩmagakena maarĩhĩrio, rĩrĩa magathambia nyarĩrĩ ciao thakame-inĩ ya arĩa aaganu.
The righteous rejoices that he has seen vengeance, He washes his steps in the blood of the wicked.
11 Hĩndĩ ĩyo andũ nĩmakoiga atĩrĩ, “Ti-itherũ nĩ kũrĩ na irĩhi rĩa arĩa athingu; ti-itherũ nĩ kũrĩ Ngai ũrĩa ũtuagĩra andũ a thĩ ciira.”
And man says: “Surely fruit [is] for the righteous: Surely there is a God judging in the earth!”
