< Thaburi 49 >
1 Thaburi ya Ariũ a Kora Iguai ũhoro ũyũ, inyuĩ ndũrĩrĩ ciothe; thikĩrĩriai, inyuothe mũtũũraga gũkũ thĩ,
To the Chief Musician. For the Sons of Korah. A Melody. Hear ye, this all ye peoples, Give ear, all ye inhabitants of this passing world;
2 inyuĩ mũtarĩ igweta na arĩa mũrĩ igweta, inyuĩ itonga na athĩĩni mũigue hamwe:
Both sons of the low, And sons of the high, —Together both rich and needy: —
3 Kanua gakwa nĩgekwaria ciugo cia ũũgĩ, mĩario ya ngoro yakwa ĩkorwo na ũtaũku.
My mouth, shall speak forth Wisdom, And the soft utterance of my heart be Understanding:
4 Nĩngũtega gũtũ ndĩĩiguĩre thimo; njooke ndaũre ndaĩ ĩno ngĩhũũraga kĩnanda kĩa mũgeeto:
I will bend, to a by-word, mine ear, I will open, on the lyre, mine enigma.
5 Nĩ kĩĩ kĩngĩtũma ndĩtigĩre hĩndĩ ya mathĩĩna, rĩrĩa andũ aaganu acio maheenanagia maathiũrũrũkĩirie,
Wherefore should I fear in the days of calamity, Though the iniquity of them who lie in wait for me should enclose me?
6 o acio mehokaga ũtonga wao, na makeeraha nĩ ũingĩ wa indo ciao?
As for them who are trusting in their wealth, —And, in the abundance of their riches, do boast themselves,
7 Gũtirĩ mũndũ ũngĩhota gũkũũra muoyo wa mũndũ ũngĩ, kana arutĩre Ngai kĩndũ gĩa gũkũũra mũndũ ũcio,
A brother, can none of them, redeem, he cannot give unto God a ransom for himself:
8 nĩgũkorwo ũkũũri wa muoyo nĩ ũndũ wa goro mũno, gũtirĩ irĩhi rĩngĩigana o na atĩa,
So costly, is the redemption of their soul, That it faileth unto times age-abiding;
9 atĩ nĩguo mũndũ atũũre muoyo nginya tene, na ndakanabuthe.
That he should, yet, live on, continually, Should not see corruption.
10 Nĩgũkorwo andũ othe nĩmonaga atĩ o na andũ arĩa oogĩ nĩmakuuaga; mũndũ mũkĩĩgu na mũndũ kĩrimũ o nao nĩmakuaga, magatigĩra andũ angĩ ũtonga wao.
For it is seen that, the wise, die, Together with the dullard, and the brutish, do they perish, And leave, to others, their wealth:
11 Mbĩrĩra ciao igũtũũra irĩ nyũmba ciao nginya tene, ituĩke ciikaro ciao njiarwa na njiarwa, o na gũtuĩka maarĩ na mĩgũnda yao ene.
Their, inward thought, is that their houses are for times age-abiding, Their habitations, for generation after generation, —They give their own names unto lands!
12 No mũndũ-rĩ, o na arĩ na indo nyingĩ, ndatũũraga; akuuaga o ta ũrĩa nyamũ ĩkuuaga ĩgathira.
But, a son of earth, though wealthy, cannot tarry, He hath made himself a by-word—Beasts, they resemble:
13 Ũyũ nĩguo ũndũ ũrĩa wathĩrĩirio arĩa meĩhokaga o ene, na arũmĩrĩri ao, arĩa metĩkanagia na mĩario yao.
This, their way, is a folly to them, And yet, their followers, with their mouth, approve. (Selah)
14 Maathĩrĩirio mbĩrĩra o ta ngʼondu cia gũthĩnjwo, na gĩkuũ nĩkĩo gĩgaatũĩka mũrĩithi wao. Magaathagwo nĩ andũ arĩa arũngĩrĩru rũciinĩ; ciimba ciao ikaabuthĩra mbĩrĩra-inĩ, irĩ kũraihu na nyũmba ciao nene. (Sheol )
Like sheep—into hades, are they driven, Death shall shepherd them, —And the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning, Even their form, is to decay, Hades, is all that remaineth of a habitation for him. (Sheol )
15 No Ngai nĩagakũũra muoyo wakwa kuuma mbĩrĩra-inĩ; ti-itherũ nĩwe ũkaanyamũkĩra. (Sheol )
But, God, will redeem my soul, out of the hand of hades, For he will take me. (Selah) (Sheol )
16 Ndũkanetigĩre mũndũ rĩrĩa aatuĩka gĩtonga, rĩrĩa riiri wa nyũmba yake wongerereka;
Do not fear, When a man becometh rich, When the glory of his house increaseth;
17 nĩgũkorwo ndarĩ kĩndũ agaathiĩ nakĩo akua, riiri wake ndagaikũrũka naguo.
For, when he dieth, he shall take, nothing, his glory shall not descend after him;
18 O na gũtuĩka rĩrĩa aarĩ muoyo eyoonaga arĩ mũrathime, nĩgũkorwo andũ nĩmagũkumagia rĩrĩa wagaacĩra,
For, though, his own self—while he lived, he used to bless, And they will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself,
19 agakua athiĩ kũrĩ maithe mao, acio matagacooka kuona ũtheri rĩngĩ.
He shall enter as far as the circle of his fathers, Nevermore, shall they see the light.
20 Mũndũ mũtongu ũtarĩ na ũmenyo atariĩ o ta nyamũ iria ikuuaga igathira.
A son of earth though wealthy, who discerneth not, Hath made himself a by-word, Beasts, they resemble.
